The food is still good (see my previous review below). But they really need to print out the bill for customers to see and review before attempting to have them swipe their credit cards. The server came to us with her machine and told me the total price--withOUT showing me the breakdown. Of course, I asked to see the breakdown. Still, she rushed me to looking at it... Management should educate their employees to let customers review their bills before paying.

Side of rice with the Lamb Rogan Josh

I walked by this place and on a whim decided to try it. It was mostly Indian people eating there, which is usually a good sign. Service: Not perfect, but for the amount of people there it was decent. Ambiance: I always liked the layout even before when it was Kashmir. Renovated interior since was a fairly new restaurant. Food: I think i need to stop ordering side of raita. It was very watered down, guess I'm setting high expectations because nobody can make a raita well in Boston. But...that Lamb Rogan Josh was superb, Mom's cooking level! Out of arrogance i dont ill ever say better than mine or my Mom's, but this a respectable tie! Medium spice was enough, and I tend to tolerate spice well. The flavors are all there: tomatoes, cardamom, cloves, cilantro, it was nailing all the familiar home cooked profiles! Definitely going back for that. But definitely not the Raita. Oh and the plain Naan came out fresh and hot no complaints there.

Butter chicken, rice, and cheese naan

Excellent service and a unique cheese naan made this an enjoyable dining experience! We had our favorite butter chicken which was unctuous and served with plenty of sauce for dipping. We don't often opt for Indian cuisine but in this case we are glad we did!

Veg biriani

Solid 4 for flavor and service. Vegetarian biriani was great and my friend said his goat curry was very tasty. We also got vegetable pakoras but weren't good.

Half Chicken Tandoori(N)

Tried this place for the first time few days ago- ordered delivery on GH. I hadn't even realized that a new Indian restaurant opened up in Back bay, since the only one there previously had closed during the pandemic. Food was amazing! The tandoori chicken didn't look the usual red color it is but thats because it was just authentic with no extra color added. Other dishes were - Chhole, Kadhai paneer, biryani and naan. Chicken was tender and spice levels for all dishes were on point. Everything tasted really great! Had lots of leftovers which was awesome. Will definitely order again and also will try to make it to the restaurant.

Lamb Biryani

The taste of the food was very good! I feel that the portions were small compared to the price of the dishes. There was very little protein in the dishes themselves - small protein to big sauce ratio. Regarding the service, our servers seemed distracted and inefficient. We had to ask for a drink three times before they brought it out towards the end of our meal. In addition, we stacked our dirty plates and asked for them to take it away before eating our dessert, but they did not. Thankfully, I was with good company and we had a good time laughing and eating in a comfortable environment.

There aren't many Indian places near there where we stayed for the weekend. So we stopped in here. Pricey but anything on Newbury is probably more expensive. Pretty busy place for Saturday night. Make a reservation if you can. We got lucky and got a table. The ambiance is a 3.5 out of 5. All the tables are pretty jammed in there. They could use a remodel of the space to get more tables in. Our food came out fairly quickly. Paneer samosa was yummy. Comes in two large pieces. Butter chicken tasted great. My son said he had better. Lamb Rogan Josh was alright. Lamb pieces were cut up too small. All spice level can be adjusted. The nann bread was warm crispy. Service was great.

Lobster spinich

We were looking for Indian buffet restaurant. Sarva didn't have buffet but lunch combo and a lobster dish that the staff suggested. Both dishes were exceptional. The portions were pretty big, especially the lobster. Very juicy in Indian sauce was rather unique. Lunch combo was good with Naan bead and I really liked the salad. So fresh and a good vegetable combination. I've never seen my daughter eat that much. The staffs were all very welcoming, attentive and professional. Highly recommended.

Came here with a reservation at 6 on Wednesday evening. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken pretty quickly. Wait staff was very attentive! Our food was very flavorful and really hit the spot on a cool and rainy day in Boston. The chicken kadai was awesome, first time I've had that dish and will definitely be trying their other offerings in the future. The Kashmiri naan was excellent, basically a dessert naan with cashew and coconut. Went great with the spicy food. The interior is still fairly plain at the moment, but they've only been open for two months so I expect them to settle in to the place in the future. Definitely recommend!

Just met the owner and creator of their new Indian draft beer called JAU. It's a must try. Light and crispy and perfect with Indian cuisine. Let me know your thoughts after giving it a try.

Butter Naan (N)
Kasey H.

We came here for their weekday lunch buffet. The interior was clean and bright, and the waitress was attentive throughout our meal. In addition to salad and naan, their buffet selection includes a chili chicken dish, chicken tikka masala, mixed vegetable pakora, paneer korma, yellow dal tadkka, and mutter pulao. Although their selection was smaller than at other Indian buffets around Boston, the quality of everything was very good. We especially liked the chili chicken, which was a new dish we hadn't tried anywhere else before. Worth the $23 per person! Finished our meal off with warm rice kneer.

Butter chicken and garlic naan
Emma C.

We stopped by after smelling how delicious the food was when walking down newbury. I got a butter chicken and then we split a garlic naan. I thought the butter chicken was so well done. The chicken was super tender and the sauce was creamy without being heavy. The garlic naan was the well seasoned with minced garlic and herbs and the perfect vessel to eat the rest of the sauce with.

Two combos! Good quality & quantity!

If you're looking for Indian food while in Boston on Newbury, Sarva was very conveniently located, the service was warm and friendly with a nice vibe. We went for lunch and got the combo. One Veggie and one chicken combo. Both were great and filling! It wasn't busy and the price was good. They also serve alcoholic beverages.

I am over the MOON with Moon Bar!…read more If I could live here I would! :) Another excellent experience here and it just happened to be restaurant week. We also spent an hour at the King Tut exhibit across the street! This restaurant/bar always seems packed. And, with reservations for 645pm (highly recommend) the bar was quite busy. The buzz from this high-end cocktail bar is exactly what you want on a Friday evening; From girlfriends sipping their wine to couples laughing and swirling their cocktails, Moon Bar is for the classy and sexy. Abby our server is excellent! A mixologist who knows all the cocktails and can recommend based on your preference. I tried one of their new cocktails with bourbon and did not care for it. Abby made me my mezcal drink that I have ordered before...its the 305 cowboy, an extremely popular drink. A must try for sure! Note: Some bartenders make you feel guilty for saying something about a drink you ordered and did not like. But, here at Moon Bar, Abby was so gracious to make me something that I will enjoy. Hats off to her:) Food: Since it was restaurant week we just shared everything. For starters we ordered the Tuna Tartare that was excellent. Then, we had Piri-Piri Chicken Thighs that were also good but quite spicy. For dessert, we shared the Caribbean Tiramisu, which was great. It was a tough choice between this and the Guava Cheesecake. We were so full that we ended up bringing home leftovers. Oh, I also forgot to mention we always order their Curry Fries - a must try when coming here Trust Me. My husband doesn't love curry but he loves these fries and you will too. #friesaretodiefor Moon Bar, thanks for being amazing in every way. Thanks for your splendid service, crafty cocktails, delicious wine (try the Pinot Noir from Germany), and your amazing food ---Love those Curry Fries! In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.
