Solid Indian street food at Fenway. Both the Wow! Vada Pav and the Rowdy Chilli Chicken were packed with flavor, hot spice-wise and temperature-wise, and appropriately portioned. The one major drawback was that both items were very salty. Thankfully, the flavors made up for that

If you are craving Indian food but looking for a fast casual build your own bowl Chipotle like experience where you don't have to spend a small fortune then Wow Tikka checks the box. The chicken bowl was quite tasty and I enjoyed the variety of add ons that I could put into my order. Decent portion size for the price as well.

A quick to go casual place for Indian Cuisine mixed in with a few restaurants in the Fens. Wow Tikka is great for something quick and easy. I stopped on by one of the nicest and coolest days this summer and even ate outside. Literally the perfect day! Now back to the food. I tried the build a bowl with basmati rice and paneer and lamb kofta which was yummy. My friend got the chicken tikka which was two chicken legs and was $10 which felt kind of pricey but idk man. Not too busy because it was a smaller spot however a ton of to go orders coming in and out. It's a nice little spot to give the fens/fenway area a bit more options apart from all the burgers, pizza and seafood. Wow Tikka is a wonderful addition to the Fenway area and offers fast casual Indian food takeaway with customization, which is somewhat of a rarity in Boston. There have been a few others that I can think of that were similar in style, but they didn't stand out as much as I wanted them to be successful. The restaurant itself is small with a few tables and more of a grab and go place. I love the concept of customizable bowls as this approach creates unique flavor combinations, but as much as I liked it, I would not replace this with the traditional Indian restaurant experience. When I arrived, it was one of the coldest and windiest days of the year so there were only a handful of customers. Parking wasn't that bad as long as you park along the perpendicular side streets and not on the main street which was mostly resident permit parking. The staff were upbeat and patiently offered recommendations for us visiting for the first time. They even let us sample the fillings/proteins as well as the variety of sauces. I ended up getting a bowl with their biryani rice (highly recommend despite the extra cost) as well as chana and chicken. They only charged me for the more expensive option even though I chose 2 fillings and the portions were huge! If you're worried about skimpy portions, have no fear. This place will have you in a food coma if you manage to finish it in one sitting. Otherwise, enjoy the price of one for two meals! I also tried their lamb which has a nice spice to it, but the chicken and chickpeas were delicious and bursting with flavors/spices. The sauteed veggies, toppings, and dressings were plentiful as well. I enjoyed the variety of sauces they had to offer, which all have different spice levels noted on their menu board. I tried the Madras Curry as well as the Nutty Khorma, both of which added a nice depth of flavor to the overall bowl. The only knock I have is that because it is like a Chipotle style bowl, everything is mixed so it can be hard to distinguish the flavors of each individual component. The bowl can be quite spicy for the average Joe, but I enjoyed the level of spice and also had a Mango Lassi and a Cold Madras coffee which were sweet and creamy to cut through some of the spice. Overall, I would come back again because they also have a variety of street food that I wanted to try, but I'd probably need to share with someone else given the size of their bowls. If you're in the area and want to experiment with a variety of Indian flavors at an affordable price, then this is the place for you!

For fast casual Indian food, this is the place to go! So many options and such a reasonable price for a large quantity of flavorful food. Limited seating inside, but quite a bit outside if the weather is nice out. Will totally return here when I'm in the Fenway area!

I feel like it's so hard to find casual Indian food and this restaurant offers a modern take on fast Indian food! This restaurant is in the Kenmore/Fenway area and when you enter, there's a chipotle-esque style area where you can make your own bowl or wrap. There's other menu items on top of that too! The service is quick and effienct. For food, we got a bowl, naan pizza, vada pan (spiced potato fritter sandwich), samosas. The bowl has so many customizable options so it's perfect for someone who is unsure what to get. I got it with paneer and lamb, different veggies and sauces, and it was delish! The flavors kinda got mixed together too much where it was hard to distinguish but overall good. Naan pizza was surprisingly good- crisp dough, good chicken, but still wish there was a bit more flavor. Vada pan was unlike anything I've had. I think it would've been better on its own and I think they went overkill with the spice. the actual patty was flavorful and aromatic.

If I have to think of 1 thing I don't like about Wow!! Tikka, it would be the distance. I'm sad that this place is not right next door to me. Tucked in a residential area near Fenway Park is this gem! I love how you can pick and choose your base, proteins, sauces, and toppings. It is quick, casual, and super yummy. Those meatballs are addictive but the entire meal itself is beyond fulfilling. Definitely a must visit!

This is a small cozy place with great food. I was looking for something light but Indian and came across this place. It's a mix of chipotle kind of construct ( made to order bowl or burrito) but also has the regular Indian street food.. the chats and the pavs. I ordered a chicken taco, yeah the Indian version of the popular Mexican dish. Loved the taste and texture. I also had a vada paav with masala chai. Mmm yummy all the way! Loved it and will certainly return next time I am in Boston.

Awesome spot! If you are looking for a healthy and delicious way to enjoy Indian food, you might want to try a modern health Indian bowl. This is a bowl that contains a variety of ingredients, such as rice, beans, vegetables, protein, and sauces, that are inspired by Indian cuisine. You can customize your bowl according to your preferences and dietary needs. Modern health Indian bowls are a great way to enjoy the flavors and benefits of Indian food without compromising on nutrition or taste. The bowls here are packed with so much flavor from sweet to spicy all in one place. Service was excellent. They have a few tables indoors and outdoors. Indoors is comfortable with AC and Indian music playing in the background. Parking can be challenging here but it is next to a bunch of awesome food options on the strip.

My second time here, the first time was for a Yelp Elite event. Great experience both times! Vibe: Small cafe, indoor and outdoor seating available. Service: Very good! They let us sample the sauce options before choosing. Food: I got a build your own bowl both times I came and both were delicious! Very hearty food, fresh, quality ingredients, I especially loved the chickpeas, chicken, beets, and the carrot slaw. The mango lassi was delicious! Value: Menu prices were very on point, about $10 + extra for certain proteins for a pretty loaded bowl. Both times I went in hungry and ended up full with a portion leftover to eat later. Other: There is limited 2 hour parking in front (metered) and some free 2 hour parking in the surrounding streets Overall would definitely recommend, good value for good food with good service, this place is 10/10

WOW. Just WOW. This spot is a MUST visit and truly one of the best restaurants I've been too - period. We got a chicken bowl with mango lassi. I've been to many Indian restaurants and wow - every bite was savored. The bowls are HUGE (can feed two!) and their veggies and meats/sauces are so very flavorful. Every bite was refreshing, healthy, flavorful, and unique. The price is also SO shockingly cheap. If I lived in Boston, I'd be here multiple times a week. Do yourself a favor and visit!!

This is a great fast-casual spot with good quality food, affordable prices, and extremely kind staff. The portions are large for the build-your-own which start at $9.99. You can either get a wrap, salad, basmati rice, or brown rice and quinoa. The vegetarian fillings include aloo and chana but you can also get other proteins like chicken ($2), meatballs ($2), lamb ($4), paneer ($1), or veg kofta ($1) for an extra cost. They have various sauces, cold toppings, and chutneys that you can add as well. I tried their chicken and chana with tikka masala and spicy vindaloo sauce. The chicken was very moist and both sauces were super flavorful! My server was generous with the amount of rice, chicken, and chana he gave me. For my toppings I got their cucumber and tomato salad which was fresh and crispy. It is very difficult to find lunch/dinner options under $15 these days. You can tell that the employees are super proud of their food. Wow Tikka is such a great addition to the neighborhood!

    Edward W.

Great place if you want a quick casual but delicious meal, this is the Indian version of restaurants like Chipotle, Dig, Cava. Each bite is definitely flavorful and you can get a lot of different yummy toppings! The bowls are so colorful too and overall just yummy. Also don't sleep on the Lassi! Parking might be a little hard, but plently of seating indoor and out

The space is clean, stylish, and thoughtfully decorated, blending a chic Indian vibe with subtle Italian-inspired décor. It's a lovely setting, especially for date night or a more upscale dinner. That said, the food itself was... fine, but not standout. We spent about $60 on one appetizer, one shared entrée, and two pieces of naan, which feels a bit steep for what we got. I also left hungry. Highlights: The dahi puri was the star of the meal -- super refreshing, flavorful, and a perfect bite between richer dishes. The naan was well-seasoned, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and genuinely delicious. The butter chicken had a nice kick of spice but was otherwise surprisingly bland and lacked depth of flavor. If you've had a lot of Indian food (especially in the Cambridge area), this may fall a bit short. There are several nearby spots that offer more memorable flavors. If you're staying in or near Boston proper, Shanti in Dorchester and Sher-a-Punjab in Quincy are both stronger options. That said, Saanjh is very convenient for its location, which gives it an edge. Service: Service was quick, efficient, and genuinely warm. We had the pleasure of speaking with Saj (?) who was an absolute highlight of the experience. He was friendly, engaging, and went above and beyond -- even staying about 15 minutes past his break just to chat with us. He clearly cares about the guest experience and deserves serious recognition (and probably a raise!). Overall: Come here for the ambiance, service, and convenience. If exceptional Indian food is your top priority, there are better options nearby. Still, a pleasant experience overall, especially thanks to the great service.

We had to ask repeatedly, and still did not get all of the rice to come out. My in-laws also asked for chai repeatedly but did not end up getting it served despite asking 3-4 times. I got the malai kofta -- would skip this one; small tiny dumplings, sauce OK. The veggie and chicken rice palou dishes were nicely seasoned and came with raita. My favorite here was the saag paneer which had a nuttier creamy texture (it actually wasn't even on the menu but the kitchen was able to offer it upon request). The regular weekday buffet is $14.95 and the weekend buffet is $17.95. For a full Indian buffet in the South End Boston that is genuinely one of the better deals you will find in the city right now. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the kind of place that feels comfortable the moment you walk in. The owners were friendly and you could tell they genuinely take pride in what they do. We started with the aloo tikki chaat which was really well done. The balance of spice and sweetness was spot on and the depth of flavor made it feel thoughtfully prepared. It is one of those dishes where every bite feels complete and it set the tone for everything that followed. The mango lassi was just as good. Thick, rich and satisfying without being overly sweet. It felt authentic and filling, not the watered down version you sometimes get at other places. For the main we went with the vegetarian dinner for two which is one of the best value options on the menu at this South End Indian restaurant. It comes with soup, two gravies, basmati rice, naan, raita and two desserts, so you get a full and complete meal rather than just a single dish. We chose the malai kofta and saag paneer. The malai kofta was the standout, creamy, rich and deeply flavorful in a way that genuinely reminded us of food in India. The saag paneer had a fresher and lighter taste that balanced the richness of the kofta perfectly. The naan came out hot from the tandoor, soft and slightly doughy, and worked beautifully with both gravies. Everything on the table felt cohesive and well thought out. The desserts were the highlight of the whole meal. The malai kulfi is made in house and you can taste exactly why that matters. Rich, smooth and perfectly sweet. The gulab jamun came out warm and soft enough that it melted the moment it hit your tongue. Both were outstanding and the kind of ending that makes you want to come back just for dessert. If you are a student at Northeastern, BU, Berklee or Emerson looking for affordable Indian food near campus, Mela is exactly the kind of place you want in your regular rotation. The student buffet deal alone makes it worth knowing about. Between the food quality, the warm atmosphere and the strong vegetarian friendly options at this affordable Indian restaurant in Boston, it is easy to see why this place has lasted nearly two decades. But they also informed me that they did not have a liquor license. But that recently changed!! They now offer beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey pours - none of these are huge amounts, but there are certainly enough options for any of these. Our group of 4 did sample several cocktails. They aren't super fancy (though some drinks do have garnishes or salty/spiced rims), but everything is well crafted. Momos first, if course. They offer several varieties, but if you prefer yours steamed, read the menu carefully, as not all varieties are available steamed. We got vegetable and chicken momos, the chicken ones in a broth. Their medium level of spiciness provided a nice but not overwhelming kick. Our entrees continued the high quality. Their chicken tikka masala has a very dark and rich sauce, and the chicken chunks were tender. The lamb was equally good. The naan here (we got garlic) is very crisp, just the way I like it. And Boston (Seaport, specifically) is well-supplied in disappointment. But Madras is...good. Not great. It's wickedly expensive, $20 for a dosa with a base set of ingredients, but that's kind of normal price levels for the area. But the quality is decent and when they say spicy they don't mean Taco Bell Fire sauce. Madras' spicy hurts good. Dosas come with a set of sauces, which each have something to say - it's a whole culinary conversation. Besides the price, I think the dosas are a little dense - when I've had them before (yes, in Jersey), they tend to be crispier, more crackly and able to handle their fillings better. So - not the best, but I'd definitely go back.

The dosa itself was a strange texture - it reminded us more of paper than a dosa which should be crispy yet fluffy at the same time. I'm not sure what this place uses for batter. The sambar was ok, but the chutneys were waaaaay too sweet (could have been a dessert itself lol). The potatoes in the dosa masala also didn't taste seasoned. The samosa chaat was very one note. A chaat should be a balance of textures, flavors, and temperatures yet this was one pile of weird mush. The samosa itself was soooo soggy it added nothing to the dish. The sev wasn't crispy enough either, and the chutneys again too sweet. The place serves chai (through a machine, not brewed by a person). It's got a small seating area to eat inside. Again, save your dosa cravings for elsewhere.
