TLDR: probably the best authentic Indian food you will get in boston, made my heart and belly very happy. We saw the great reviews for momo masala and decided to check it out. I knew I needed to try it because it has momo in the name and that is not something you will find at restaurants. We called to make a reservation (glad we did, it was packed when we got there!). We were seated promptly. The staff is super nice and friendly which added to the vibe of the place. It's a pretty simple restaurant, with amazing food. Chili veg momo- the only time I get momos is in India. I was ecstatic to see them on a menu. And these momos blew me away, they were SO good. I will be going back regularly just for momos. Note that the momos are huge, and there's a LOT of them. We had leftovers. Chicken 65- another delicious app. So saucy and delicious Chicken vindaloo...butter chicken...I could keep writing but the point is it's all amazing. I would feel confident ordering literally ordering anything off of the menu. Can't miss this spot! read more

Five stars five stars! Went here after another community event and I'm so glad I did. Staff was great when I couldn't decide and I was very grateful for all of the vegetarian and vegan options! Prices were very reasonable and the portions were HUGE. I'm very glad. Each dish was really meant to be shared (based on size alone). Ambience is really relaxing. Warm lighting, cloth napkins, footed water glasses. All in all it would be a really cute date night spot too. read more

Momo Masala - mango lassis! They were as good as they look - Indian Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I have been fortunate to be able to find and dine at several Himilayan/Nepalese restaurants in the Boston area, and every one of them has so far been a great experience. Tonight, I added Momo Masala to that list. I was also fortunate to have friends who live nearby, and when I mentioned to them I was going (hopefully to invite them), they said it was one of their regular places for take-out. But they also informed me that they did not have a liquor license. But that recently changed!! They now offer beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey pours - none of these are huge amounts, but there are certainly enough options for any of these. Our group of 4 did sample several cocktails. They aren't super fancy (though some drinks do have garnishes or salty/spiced rims), but everything is well crafted. Momos first, if course. They offer several varieties, but if you prefer yours steamed, read the menu carefully, as not all varieties are available steamed. We got vegetable and chicken momos, the chicken ones in a broth. Their medium level of spiciness provided a nice but not overwhelming kick. Our entrees continued the high quality. Their chicken tikka masala has a very dark and rich sauce, and the chicken chunks were tender. The lamb was equally good. The naan here (we got garlic) is very crisp, just the way I like it. This is a popular take-out spot, but there are enough tables to accommodate people who dine in conveniently, with a relaxing ambiance. This is another great add to the wide variety of dining options in Jamaica Plain. read more

Wow. Just wow. We ordered takeout and got two types of momos, one veggie and one chicken, in two different sauces, jhol and hariyali. First of all, just the fact that they have these different sauces for the momos like jhol, hariyali, and tandoori put them a notch above the rest. On top of that, the flavors were absolutely drool worthy. The momos were delicious by themselves but then you have the sauce and that elevated the dish to the next level. I'm glad we ordered takeout because we licked the bowls clean. The order was ready fast, arrived in basically no time, and was piping hot. Great flavor, and great value for money! read more

The service was quick and the food was plentiful. We stayed past their open hours (by mistake) and they didn't rush us out which was greatly appreciated. Definitely would return if in the area! read more

Momo Masala - Mango Lassi - Indian Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

My wife and I stumbled into Momo Masala on a summer Jamaica Plain evening, and it immediately felt like we'd found someone's cozy kitchen halfway around the world. The space has that "neighborhood gem" energy -- small, warm, and full of spice aromas that make you hungrier the longer you sit. We started with the Samosa Chaat, and honestly, it set the tone for the whole meal -- tangy, crunchy, and full of flavor layers that made it hard to stop eating. The Saag Paneer was rich and comforting, and the Chicken Kadhai had just the right balance of spice and savoriness. The Garlic Naan came out warm, buttery, and perfect for scooping everything up (and yes, we definitely fought over the last piece). What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were genuinely kind and attentive -- the kind of service that makes you feel like they actually care if you're enjoying your meal. And for all that food, the bill came to around $60 -- incredible value for how flavorful and filling everything was. If you're craving authentic Nepalese and Indian comfort food without the pretense, Momo Masala should be at the top of your list. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. read more

Momo Masala - Garlic Naan, Saag Paneer, and Chicken Kadhai Special - Indian Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

My husband and I got takeout and really enjoyed our meals. I loved the Chana saag (like saag paneer but with chickpeas). I asked for it mild without chilis and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed the chicken makhani (butter chicken) and chicken tandoori momo. We didn't like the naan as it was a bit dry or tough, but honestly the dishes were so flavorful that it wasn't necessary with the rice! We were provided a wait time of 15 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 35. The place was packed when we went to pick up which is always a good sign! read more

Hands down some of the best Indian food in Boston! We got takeout but the resteraunt itself seemed very busy with both diners and people getting takeout. The food was beyond flavorful and tasty. Very reasonably priced as well compared to the other Indian resteraunts in the city. Cannot recommend this place enough! Definitely a must when coming to Boston read more

Momo Masala remains our favorite go-to restaurant in JP. From the courteous and patient staff to the delicious food, we've thoroughly enjoyed every visit to Momo Masala. The chili momos are an absolutely staple in our orders and we would definitely recommend them. The lamb curry is delicious and we've ordered it several times, and it consistently delivers. Our cocktails were pretty run-of-the-mill, but we don't visit for the drinks.... It's all about the food here! We will be back for sure. read more

Came with a friend after a long walk at the park and the food definitely satisfied our hunger! It is a casual and friendly establishment serving delicious Nepali and Indian cuisine. We got the momo masala, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. It was my first time having momos and it was SO GOOD! I definitely would come back for these. The waiter didn't come and check in, but if we needed a refill of our water she would kindly and quickly did so after we asked. read more

I got chicken butter masala and garlic naan, it was the best Indian food I've had so far in Boston! I ordered takeout and everything was ready on time and the food didn't get cold. The masala had a nice kick to it and the naan wasn't too dry. read more

I tried Tandoori veg Momo for the first time. It's interesting as it's similar to dumpling but different. I'm ok with the fillings but the sauce is good. But the sauce is very salty. The mango lassi is ok. The mango flavor is not that strong. I also tried the vegManchurian (Indo-Chinese) dish. It is my first time too. Even though it doesn't remind me of anything Chinese, but the taste is the best of the day. Even though it's very salty again. I'm not sure if they were designed to eat with bread/naan/rice. I ordered medium spiciness and it has the right kick (American level spicy). I gave 3 stars mainly for the saltiness of the food. The service is good. And parking is easy to find around the block. They have tables available on Friday night without a reservation. read more

Momo Masala - Tandoori Momo - Indian Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Outstanding all around! We got takeout and everything was delicious! The chicken momo masala were like perfectly delicious dumplings with really good texture to them, the sauce was on the sweet / tomato-ey side but overall loved these. The house special platter was solid with the highlight being the super tasty and flaky samosas. I was pleasantly surprised to have been able to find parking super close for free on the street on a Friday afternoon. Staff seemed very nice. Would absolutely return and recommend. read more

This is the third time I've come and was very happy with it again. We got a couple different things, but the chicken momo masala was particularly noteworthy! Service was very friendly and courteous. It was also fairly calm inside. Highly recommend! read more

Wow! This is a lovely little restaurant with amazing food and great service. We had the chicken momos in chili sauce, the chicken tikka masala, a salad, and garlic naan. The naan was a little disappointing, but everything else was FANTASTIC. Portions were generous. I highly recommend. read more

WOW! What a treat to welcome Himalayan food to JP. And such incredible food it is. Make sure you try not just the classic Indian dishes like tikka masala and palak paneer, but the momos from the end of the menu. I haven't had Himalayan food before and really enjoy the combination of spices. A+ for allergy safety, lots of options for people with nut or wheat allergies, and a big vegan menu! Momo does a lot of take out business and they're fast and reliable. Eating in is also very pleasant with a bright sunny space and extremely good waitstaff. I enjoyed the music and the ambiance in general. There aren't many tables, so on busier nights you might need a reservation. There is one big table in a separate area that would be nice for a group of 8-10. The best part of eating in was eating the food right out of the oven- the garlic naan smelled so good and tasted crispy and delicious. I love this restaurant and I'm so glad they opened! read more

Momo Masala - Basmati rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, 2 Piece Meat Samosa - Indian Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Great to have a Momo place in the neighborhood. Ambiance: Decent, sitting, tables, decor, etc. However, place seems a bit small. That being said I got a table right away, went around 6:15 PM. Service: No complaints here, the staff are friendly, and they did allow me to do a half and half on the types of momo, which let me try two types. Food: I got medium level spice, so wasn't too spicy, but also intentional because wanted to see how flavors were. The flavors in the momo were great. I ordered Chicken Tandoori Momo and the Chicken Hariwali Momo Masala. I preferred the Hariwali. They give 10 in one order, took the rest home, so would recommend splitting the order if with someone. Laccha Paratha was good. GREAT chicken curry, the blend of spices, bell pepper, onion reminded me a a bit of Kanda Bateta Nu Shak. My next item to try will likely be the Eggplant Bhartha, there menu seems to have a lot of variety. read more

Really flavorful dishes. Nice service. Good portions. I didn't try the momos. I will go back to sample those.

Delicious and authentic food! They offer such a great variety of dishes beyond what I see in regular Indian food genre. Highly recommended!

We have come in person twice with my toddler since they opened and have also gotten delivery once, which is saying a lot because they've only been open for a little over a month at this point. It's so nice to have a really good Indian/Nepali spot in JP finally! I was happy to see Gobi Manchurian on the menu, which was really tasty, although having gotten the veggie momo masala and veggie biryani tonight, I'd say those dishes are actually the winners for me now. I've only ever had steamed momos previously, but the momo masala momos here were bathed in an absolutely delicious spicy tomato based sauce. I literally said out loud-- "these are incredible!" I've never had anything like them before and they were so good! The veggie biryani was also really good. My partner has enjoyed both the chicken and lamb vindaloo-- he says he liked the lamb version the best. And, my picky toddler has scarfed samosas every time we have gone there (to the point that tonight he very excitedly greeted the waitress with his request for a samosa and apple juice, lol). Speaking of which, the waitstaff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They remembered my kiddo and his samosa enthusiasm, which warmed my heart. So pleased to have momo masala in the neighborhood! Also, the portions are very generous and the leftovers should last 3-4 meals. read more

Momo Masala - Veg Momo Masala, Vegetable Biryani, 2 Piece Vegetarian Samosa, Poori, Chicken Vindaloo. - Indian Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Simply delicious food. Attentive and patient service. Very nice atmosphere (although I could do with music that is both quieter and more pleasant.) This place should be packed all the time. The variety of selection is large and the food choices include many vegetarian and vegan options. The portions are very generous and the prices are fair. read more

We picked up takeout from Momo Masala and were very impressed! The most noteworthy dish was definitely the veggie pakora. We ate the whole box in minutes! The pakora had the perfect mix of veggies and the sauces and chutneys it came with were INCREDIBLE. We also got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan which were good, but not the best we've ever had - a hint too much coriander in the Masala for my liking. Regardless we would definitely order again and next time are getting TWO orders of veggie pakoras! read more

Ordered catering from Momo Masala JP, it was fantastic. I placed the order through the website and they followed up with me to refine my order. The week of the event they followed up again and took payment. The delivery was on time. All staff from the ordering to delivery were very professional and friendly. Most importantly, our guests enjoyed the food, had seconds and even took some home. Great service and great food, we will definitely order catering again and highly recommend. read more

We tried the house appetizer plate--seemed to be mostly from the Indian side of the menu (pakora, samosa, aloo tiki, etc)--and pretty much everything was really delicious! The Manchurian Chicken and the Chicken Tandoori Momo and they were both amazing! The servers were very welcoming + friendly and the interior was above average--not loud and warmly lit. Newer restaurant - wanted to give it a try and the curry/momo was good (excellent in fact) but salad and papadum not so much; chutneys were brought out in plastic to-go containers which didn't really feel right and is not something I'd ever seen before, but it did make it easier to take those things home at the end of the night. Service was a bit lacking as well. Often times sat waiting for a server to come by and looking in the back they were all on their phones and laughing. 5 or 6 tables and 3 people serving. A great spot for takeout, and I will definitely order from here again, but likely will avoid dining in. read more

Very friendly cute restaurant. Large portions. We did takeout. We got Aloo Gobi, Veg Tandoori Momo, chicken biryani, and plain naan. We were glad to have found Momo Masala! Somewhat disagree with previous reviews characterizing the location as a "hole-in-the-wall". The ambiance is pleasant with enough seating. The staff is courteous and responsive to guests and prompt with service. Food was excellent, matching our high expectations, with spice level tailored to our taste. Do not leave the place until you have tried their Chicken Momos (we liked the fried serving). The Chicken Manchurian, Nepalese noodles, and Chili Paneer were a great combination. We look forward to trying their other menu items during our next visit! read more

Their chicken momos are the best! Our friends who visit from out of town only want Momo Masala whenever they visit, they're that good!
