The restaurant is across the street from the T line, and I came after my visit to the nearby arboretum. I like the casual dining room with cloth napkins. The server/hostess was pleasant. My dishes were enjoyable. I had the lamb jalfrezi curry. I appreciate how this tomato base curry did not eclipse the spices. It is prepared with vegetables. Not a big fan of green peppers but it did not stop me from finishing the dish. I asked for medium level spice and it was mild for my palate, which is fine because I prefer it when my food is burning my palate. Good portion sized chunks of lamb. It comes with coriander seed rice. A needed addition to sop up the lovely sauce. The garlic naan was a "healthy' preparation. I normally want to buttery greasy finger version, not in this case. A point of preference. A downer was the bathroom situation. Even though I was the first customer of the day, the bathroom was clearly not cleaned. Double downer for the ladies as there is only one bathroom. Busy takeout business.

We had a really nice first experience here! The restaurant is clean and warm, food is served quickly and is fresh and yummy. Customer service was a little on the slow side, despite us being some of the very few customers in the restaurant. Big upside is their "meals for two" which have soups, 3 entrees with rice and naan for under $35 dollars- perfect for date night!

I'm a Indian food connoisseur minus the breadth of knowledge--I just really like Indian food and Tikki Masala makes my tummy feel good. I went on a Monday early evening with a friend and we were the only ones dining in (they have about 24 seats), however a few people came in to pick up food. There were plenty of metered parking and Forest Hills train station is directly across the street. I ordered the Lamb Saag (Boneless grilled lamb cubes cooked with chopped spinach) over white rice and it was so good it made love to my stomach. I asked for the 'Hot' spicy level which is the 2nd spiciest level and it was a little spicy. I thought it would have been spicier, but I'm not complaining. I also didn't notice the spinich, could have been just me--not saying it was a pro or con. We also ordered naan bread which I would rate 4 out 5. Very good, but I've had better. Overall a great Indian restaurant and would visit more often if I lived in the neighborhood. Recommend!

Ordered the butter chicken and the pieces of chicken in my food were so massive took up most of the container. Flavor of the chicken and the sauce was mild. Ordered, garlic naan, and the naan bread was undercooked.

Simply put, Tikki Masala is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. First of all, they serve the beloved north Indian street food dish pani puri (sometimes spelled poori), which is a favorite of my partner, who was born in India. The pani (water) was very tasty and just the right amount for spicy. The filling (consisting mostly of chickpeas and potatoes) was absolutely superb. We also had the Chhole Bhatture. This is the best I've ever had in the US outside my mother in laws. The gravy was not *too* thick and creamy as it is in many other Indian restaurants. Despite its name, Tikki Masala is quite authentic and tasty. I highly recommend you try it.

Dinner this evening from Tikki Masala and it was okay. On a weeknight, I was the only diner in the restaurant though a few people did come in for takeaway. The restaurant is clean and tidy, comfortable seating and a nice sized table. A television on the wall is playing Indian music videos for ambiance. Service was good at the start with my order being taken promptly and my beer being delivered immediately. I had samosas to start - they were fresh and very hot served with a selection of pickle. Just as I was finishing my last bite, the main course arrived. A lamb jalfrezi was delicious with the right amount of spice. Flavorful and with enough lamb in there to keep it interesting. Several big and small bony pieces did need to be picked out but the onions and peppers were tasty and went well on the basmati rice. Garlic naan was excellent. Very nicely prepared, thin and crunchy and burned just right (no, in a good way!) from the oven. Yum! Other than getting the appetizer almost on top of the main course, the raita I ordered never arrived. It wasn't on the bill, so it was just forgotten. And getting my check did take a good long time. Enough so that I finally just went up to the register to pay. Summary... The dinner was good. I'd have a chicken dish next time though. The service has a little room to improve. Overall, A-OK.

    OILY!

We ordered two curries and a daal. The dishes were really not tasty and extremely OILY (consisting of maybe 50% oil - see the attached photo!). This is the worst Indian restaurant we've been to.

Tonight, I added Momo Masala to that list. I was also fortunate to have friends who live nearby, and when I mentioned to them I was going (hopefully to invite them), they said it was one of their regular places for take-out. But they also informed me that they did not have a liquor license. But that recently changed!! They now offer beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey pours - none of these are huge amounts, but there are certainly enough options for any of these. Our group of 4 did sample several cocktails. They aren't super fancy (though some drinks do have garnishes or salty/spiced rims), but everything is well crafted. Momos first, if course. They offer several varieties, but if you prefer yours steamed, read the menu carefully, as not all varieties are available steamed. We got vegetable and chicken momos, the chicken ones in a broth. Their medium level of spiciness provided a nice but not overwhelming kick. Our entrees continued the high quality. Their chicken tikka masala has a very dark and rich sauce, and the chicken chunks were tender. The lamb was equally good. The naan here (we got garlic) is very crisp, just the way I like it. This is a popular take-out spot, but there are enough tables to accommodate people who dine in conveniently, with a relaxing ambiance. This is another great add to the wide variety of dining options in Jamaica Plain.

The space is clean, stylish, and thoughtfully decorated, blending a chic Indian vibe with subtle Italian-inspired décor. It's a lovely setting, especially for date night or a more upscale dinner. That said, the food itself was... fine, but not standout. We spent about $60 on one appetizer, one shared entrée, and two pieces of naan, which feels a bit steep for what we got. I also left hungry. Highlights: The dahi puri was the star of the meal -- super refreshing, flavorful, and a perfect bite between richer dishes. The naan was well-seasoned, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and genuinely delicious. The butter chicken had a nice kick of spice but was otherwise surprisingly bland and lacked depth of flavor. If you've had a lot of Indian food (especially in the Cambridge area), this may fall a bit short. There are several nearby spots that offer more memorable flavors. If you're staying in or near Boston proper, Shanti in Dorchester and Sher-a-Punjab in Quincy are both stronger options. That said, Saanjh is very convenient for its location, which gives it an edge. Service: Service was quick, efficient, and genuinely warm. We had the pleasure of speaking with Saj (?) who was an absolute highlight of the experience. He was friendly, engaging, and went above and beyond -- even staying about 15 minutes past his break just to chat with us. He clearly cares about the guest experience and deserves serious recognition (and probably a raise!). Overall: Come here for the ambiance, service, and convenience. If exceptional Indian food is your top priority, there are better options nearby. Still, a pleasant experience overall, especially thanks to the great service.

Ambience-wise, it indeed was very fancy and upscale, with beautiful vivid blue plush chairs and florals and crystal light fixtures hanging from the ceilings. (There was a giant screen with bollywood trailers blasting which was a little jarring but the rest of the restaurant was beautiful.) Food-wise, it was average, not incredible, but service was painfully slow, which was the biggest problem. We also missed bowls of rice that were specifically ordered to come along with our dishes. We had to ask repeatedly, and still did not get all of the rice to come out. My in-laws also asked for chai repeatedly but did not end up getting it served despite asking 3-4 times. I got the malai kofta -- would skip this one; small tiny dumplings, sauce OK. The veggie and chicken rice palou dishes were nicely seasoned and came with raita. My favorite here was the saag paneer which had a nuttier creamy texture (it actually wasn't even on the menu but the kitchen was able to offer it upon request). We also did like the aloo tikki chaat (potato appetizer) which was served warm with nice chutney. Samosas were ok (price on the menu is for a set of 2).
