I just ordered, Chettinad Goat Curry spice level Mild with tax paid for $20.33 comes with white rice. very authentic spice use, quite enjoyable Goat pieces with bone, dark rich flavor made me deciding to try more near the future. Grand India restaurant on Beacon St at Washington Sq in Brookline is permanently CLOSED. Too bad - the food was good. I think their sister restaurant in Salem NH is still open. read more

Chicken Korma lacks flavor and color. samosas seem like made from frozen meals. worst of all "Basmati" rice was just plain white rice! worst India Food I have ever had from a takeout place period. see pics. read more

This is the best South Indian food I've had in New England PERIOD! And they will actually make the food spicy. I love the mysore masala dosa and chicken 65, but all the curries are great as well read more

No frills, fantastic food, the way it should be. I had the Hyderabadi chicken biriyani and Chili Chicken - it is authentic, full of flavor, and actually spicy! Great to see good South Indian food as it's pretty rare to see gems like this in Boston. Will be back. read more

We live nearby and are SO HAPPY to have Grand India in the neighborhood. The food is delicious and the spice levels offered are fabulous. The spicy truly is very spicy. If you get dosa-try to eat at the restaurant because it's perfect when you get it fresh. The offerings are varied and tasty. One time, we had a pretty specific order for take out due to a friend's dietary preferences and they accidentally gave us goat instead of chicken. We love their goat but called to let them know about this error and they very kindly refunded us for this dish. Overall, we are pleased with the prices and portions as well! We like their new sign and can tell they are starting to decorate the inside with their style as well. We will continue to be regulars here and are very glad about this!! read more

Best Indian food I've had in a long time! Amazing dosas, uttampam, idlis and equally delicious North Indian food. Non-vegetarian South Indian food is also next level. Fried appetizers, chaats, everything is a must try. Even the tandoori salmon was soft and extremely flavorful. I'm a regular and I'd recommend this to anyone who loves Indian food. We've gone twice now, once for dinner shortly after they opened and once for their weekend buffet. Great food and warm service both times. When we were there for dinner, we overheard the party next to us raving about the dosas, which we want to go back for at some point. The buffet is a little pricy, at least for me, but I tend not to eat enough at any buffet to feel like I got my money's worth. But it definitely has variety going for it, with more interesting dishes than I've seen at any other Indian buffet offering in the area. The space is still a work in progress, but we're glad to have them in the neighborhood and look forward to going back again soon. read more

Sensational food! Although it may not look like much from the outside (yet, they're still renovating), the food and service here are fantastic. Indian food is my favorite cuisine, I have tried a number of places in the Boston area, and I have yet to get anything from them that hasn't been superb. Even their samosa appetizers are something I'll gladly go out of my way to get for a quick bite. It's all very reasonably priced. After having tried and having my expectations blown out of the water at their other location in Salem, NH, it was only a matter of time before I had to try Grand India's second location, closer to home. Again, I was not disappointed. Grand India makes their dishes the correct way, no cutting corners. The biryani is fragrant and deep. Their curries are rich and have a tantalizing spice to them, with many layers of flavor. As a meticulous eater often critical of techniques and preparations, I have yet to find any significant fault with Grand India. They are head and shoulders above the competition in terms of quality. My first order: Goat biryani - plenty of goat, marinated nicely, rice perfectly cooked and separate grains, lots of saffron water, lovely aroma. Served with red onion and lemon on top. 10/10 Chettinad chicken curry - made with dark meat (the best part), gorgeous spice blend, not too greasy, full-bodied taste with a clean and light finish, easy to eat. 10/10 Their ownership is so kind and truly cares. A wonderful man to talk to, if you get the chance. I will certainly be ordering from here many more times to try out their other items, and I highly recommend to anyone seeking the true taste of South India. read more

It is so nice to have a nearby really good Indian food restaurant. We have eaten here twice, and all that we have ordered is delicious. This includes, curry, biryani, and kabob dishes. When the menu says spicy, the food is truly spicy (but good!). But it is their hand made samosas that we enjoy most. Light and delicious. None of the food has been greasy. It is made to order and arrives steaming hot. The tables were full, and the staff is exceedingly friendly. The food is very reasonably priced. The staff visited our table to ask how we felt about our meal. We grade the food 5 stars, and staff friendliness and service are 5 stars. The dining area could use a little attention. Currently the dining area consists of interior plain white walls with little decoration, overhead fluorescent lights, comfortably arranged tables and chairs, a TV flat screen that plays Bollywood video, a view of the glassed in refrigerator the contains soft drinks and other beverages, and a take out counter that is directly adjacent to and not really separated from the indoor eating area. So I would grade the ambience 3 stars. But we really enjoy eating here, with its friendly and less formal vibe, and we look forward to many more enjoyable meals. read more

What a great surprise. Ate here for the first time last night. Each of the food dishes we ordered was just perfect. The prices seemed reasonable too. While we were eating there, the tables filled up, but there were many who stopped by just for pick ups. The service was great too and the young woman who served us wanted to make sure we were educated about each option we were considering. The ambience is simple.
