Plus a pita to dip into the moussaka, of course. Quick service, friendly staff. Lots of seating in the 100 Fed concourse. Go early (before noon) to beat the lunch crowd lines.

Well, sometime last year or so, a glass addition was built on the Congress Street side of the building. Turns out that this addition houses a handful of dining options including Blue Bottle Coffee, Bailey & Sage, and Aceituna Grill, each with their individually decorated open dining space. My order was a pita roll-up $7.95, with Shawarma chicken, and all the (non-spicy, no extra cost) fixings: Hummus Mayo Garlic Sauce Lettuce Tomatoes Pickles Pickled Turnips Onions Garlic Sauce French Fries Tahini The pita was small, and it was literally rolled up, with both ends open, not folded in on the ends like a burrito. Since I asked for both initial spreads, the hummus spoon was then used to spread them on my pita and dropped back in with the hummus. A cross-contamination possibility for those for whom this would be an issue. My bundle was delivered to me wrapped in two white (waxed?) sheets, which for immediate consumption could be sufficient. Be careful in case of drippage, however, they do have foil sheets if you ask. It was okay in terms of taste, however the bundle was wrapped a bit loose and lacking in generosity. I also belatedly realized that the fries never made it into my roll-up.

Falafel King remains one of my favorite quick service lunch spots in downtown Boston. The prices…read moreare reasonable, the service is fast, the portions are generous, and the food is pretty good. I wish they weren't so skimpy with the tablespoon of hummus, and the rice pilaf and salads could use a little more seasoning. To compensate, if i remember, I ask for more tahini, hot sauce, and the addition of some feta cheese.

The line took 5 minutes to get to me, where I placed my order for the Chicken Shwarma Salad (~$13 and change). As per usual, I received one falafel dipped in hummus to consume as a snack while going through the ordering process. The salad is a combination of a bed of lettuce and the Middle Eastern style cucumber and tomato salad. You get ~3x the amount of the cucumber tomato salad compared to what you get in the rice plate (usually the rice plate's cucumber tomato salad occupies the small square in the take out box). You get a big scoop of hummus sitting in the other take out box's small square. A generous amount of chicken adorned the salad. The food is a solid 4*, great for work lunch and with generous portions. Being distracted with a piece of falafel while in line seems a bit silly, but really brightens up my experience (yeah I know everyone gets this treatment, but still).
