One Hundred Federal Street has a fun nickname - the Pregnant Building. If you've seen it, you'd understand. Well, sometime last year or so, a glass addition was built on the Congress Street side of the building. Turns out that this addition houses a handful of dining options including Blue Bottle Coffee, Bailey & Sage, and Aceituna Grill, each with their individually decorated open dining space. My order was a pita roll-up $7.95, with Shawarma chicken, and all the (non-spicy, no extra cost) fixings: Hummus Mayo Garlic Sauce Lettuce Tomatoes Pickles Pickled Turnips Onions Garlic Sauce French Fries Tahini The pita was small, and it was literally rolled up, with both ends open, not folded in on the ends like a burrito. Since I asked for both initial spreads, the hummus spoon was then used to spread them on my pita and dropped back in with the hummus. A cross-contamination possibility for those for whom this would be an issue. My bundle was delivered to me wrapped in two white (waxed?) sheets, which for immediate consumption could be sufficient. Be careful in case of drippage, however, they do have foil sheets if you ask. It was okay in terms of taste, however the bundle was wrapped a bit loose and lacking in generosity. Whenever we're in Boston, I beg my fiancé to squeeze Aceituna into our itinerary. He introduced this place to me as one of his office lunch spots from when he used to work around here. The food is so light, refreshing, yet keeps my belly full until we go out for dinner. I never feel slumped after eating the whole platter, in fact I feel energized. I've had the chicken gyro every time. I'm not one who like cold food, but this platter can be eaten hot af, cold, left over and picking bites out of it an hour later. Doesn't even matter, it hits the spot. I'm from New York and I've never seen a better "create your own" type of Mediterranean fast food. Aceituna is legitimately one of the best highlights of Boston. Hope they open one up in New York City's Fidi, it would do sooooo well & I can have it more frequently ;p!! read more

The first time I came here was also the first time I've had Mediterranean food. I was not disappointed. For being a Mediterranean "chipotle" style spot, it's quick, fresh and delicious. Let me tell you, they make the BEST roasted cauliflower and you can tell the hummus is absolutely homemade. I was very impressed. Aceituna Grill has kicked my love for Mediterranean food into high gear and I'm not mad about it one bit. I got the combo beef and lamb shawarma. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I paid the additional to get the tzatziki sauce on top....YUM. My friend got a falafel wrap with tahini (of course I had to have a bite) and it was also super flavorful as well. I can't help but notice how much space and how good the lighting is here! Great place to grab lunch and get some work done! I found this place through the Food for All app and ordered a pita roll and plate. I've had their shawarma chicken on rice with baba ganoush (like hummus but mashed eggplant) and fried cauliflower, topped with spicy sauce and garlic sauce. The pita roll is probably filling enough for lunch, but the plate is pretty filling even for dinner! The baba ganoush is really smooth and really good with the food and good for dipping pita bread in. I usually have leftovers and eat them for lunch the next day. Service is pretty good. I myself have a hard time communicating with them. We are separated by a glass wall and my petite self cannot talk over the glass, so it's hard to hear and I have to speak up a little, but that doesn't affect how the food is in the end! The food's definitely pricey, but I'd recommend others to try it especially if you've never had Mediterranean food! read more

It's a little pricey for a lunch spot downtown, but it is great for lazy people who don't want to walk another 3 blocks to Falafel King. They have a lot of variety when it comes to sides, and they are all mostly healthy options (besides the french fries). The spicy potatoes and fried cauliflower are usually my go to, but when I am feeling too fat, the Greek Salad, and all the other hard to pronounce sides are also great. How do you say Fattoush, Baba Ganoush, etc!??! I still gyro the way you say gyroscope. All strange looks aside from trying to pronounce these sides, I think it's pretty good for a lunch spot. For their one year anniversary, they even gave free baklavas! The Bank Of America food court is insane, with its huge TV and glass windows. read more

Decided to try this place since it's located in the lobby of my work office. I got the spicy chicken rice bowl with hummus and fries. I can definitely say I'll be back. The portions were huge. The spicy chicken was a bit dry but was good combined with the sauces. Make sure you get both sauces. Hummus was creamy and filling. They provide pita bread for you. Fries were fries. The plate was a bit expensive ($11.50) but it's the Boston financial district, so the price makes sense. It was hard to stay awake after that meal. Will be back. read more

They are really efficient at this location which is great because the lines can be excruciating at lunchtime in the FiDi area. They also portion everything really nicely which is great if you're trying to be more conscious of how much you're eating. The food leaves more than something to be desired - the small falafel are dry, flavorless and have a terrible texture. The meat wasn't well seasoned and the rice was dismal. In a pinch this would do, but overall it's not somewhere I can see myself returning to outside of the work week. read more

Aceituna does it right. I am a regular at the Kendall Square location and was thrilled to hear they opened in 100 Federal. The food is out of this world-- fees, flavorful, and filling. The staff is super friendly and accommodating and there is plenty of seating. This is a great restaurant if you are looking for a relatively quick, healthy, delicious meal. I've gone here a few times since it opened in my building and I have to say, I really enjoy it. I find that the only thing I actually dislike is the pita. It's too rubbery and to chew through it actually makes my jaw start to ache. My go-to is the spicy chicken with the Greek salad base. I love their hummus, the French fries, though weird that they are on the menu...are awesome if you get the garlic mayo to dip them in. The spicy potatoes are also great as is the fried cauliflower. When I showed up with a couple of work buddies on the first day, the owner was there and overheard us mulling over the menu. She was so incredibly friendly and immediately started telling us about the food. She recommended the spicy chicken which isn't that spicy - it's just got more flavor. If you want full on spice, they have a sauce for that. She told us that they make everything in-house except for the baklava, pita, and French fries - those all come from Canada. Everything else is made on site. Pretty cool for her to talk with us and give us the low-down. I'm definitely pleased with the addition to the building! read more

The service wasn't great, I very specifically asked for the chicken shawarma, but got the spicy shawarma, which at least wasn't too spicy. The falafel was cold and dry, and the bread was stale. I found the Greek salad to be decent (good amount of crunch) and I enjoyed the falafel. The sides were just OK. The hummus had way too much garlic and tabouleh salad was almost too acidic to eat. The least impressive part of the meal was the pita bread, which was flavorless and difficult to bite into. My meal came out to be around $11. I could taste the smokiness of the roasted eggplant. The chicken wasn't spicy at all and on the drier side, however, the portion size was great! The pita was flat and hard to chew. It's definitely not as fluffy as some other places in the area. Overall I'd go back for the salad and sides. I do wish the chicken was juicier and the pita fluffier to complete the meal. read more

Aceituna is delicious! I got a meal with them through Food For All - a great way to try new restaurants for half price. Thank you, Aceituna, for being part of the app, helping to decrease food waste, and making meals affordable for everyone! The food itself was great! There's a lot of customizability - I got the salad bowl with chicken shawarma, moussakka, and baba ganoush. The chicken was very flavorful, and felt much lighter than some of the heavy-fat ladden shawarma that you can get elsewhere. Ingredients were fresh, and there was deep flavor in everything - really yummy. A big complaint, though, is how salty everything was. The babaganoush and the peppers in the salad were unbearably salty - I had to come back own and add a bunch of unsalted veggies and salad greens to balance it out (in contrast, the mousaka seemed undersalted? But because of the heavy salt in everything else, it balanced). I was able to stretch the food to two meals with some leftovers (even without adding my own veggies, they had really generous portion sizes). I will definitely be back - a super flavorful but healthy weeknight go to! read more

Was extremely underwhelmed by my experience here. Came her for lunch and was excited to try a salad plate- I got a fattoush salad, beef/lamb shawarma, hummus and falafel. Unfortunately, the only thing that was somewhat edible was the pita and hummus. There was so much meat and barely any salad and then the meat was SO ACIDIC that it was unpleasant eating it. The falafel was really dense as well. A few friends of mine got the chicken pita and said that the chicken was better but they felt that it wasn't enough meat and they were still hungry after. At the end of the day, when you spend more than $11 on lunch, you're allowed to have higher expectations. Aceituna is my favorite lunch spot in city! Both the Seaport and the Federal Street location are amazing! The food is so fresh and portions are great size! I love that even just a couple of sides of hummus, falafel, and baba ganoush are enough to fill me up for the day. The sauces are great with a side of fries if you need a Friday pick me up! I recently discovered this place and the food is excellent. Located within 100 federal (but is actually closer to the Congress street entrance). It is Mediterranean food with an option of salad or rice as a base (or you could get everything stuffed in a pita). My go to is the beef/lamb rice bowl. The greek salad is true greek salad (without lettuce) and the pita that comes with the meal is warm and soft. The beef/lamb is perfectly cooked and juicy and all of the sides i've tried have been great. After you pay, there is a station for extra sauces (tahini, garlic sauce, etc.) with little to-go cups. The garlic sauce is fantastic. The line gets really long at lunch but they are extremely efficient and the line moves quickly. My only two (small) complaints are the prices (just a little high, but its the financial district so it is what it is) and the sauce station is missing a ledge or nearby table to put down your food while you pour sauce so there is a precarious balancing act that has to happen. Luckily i've had no spills yet but I'm sure I will at somepoint. Definitely eat here if you are in the area. There is an order-ahead option if you don't want to wait in line but I like my food hot so I wait :) read more

I eat at Aceituna about 2x/week. Usually I order the falafel wrap. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Very tasty especially with the tahini and the spicy pink sauce. Recently I tired their spicy shwarmah chicken, and its good!!! Sometimes I even add tabbouli to the wrap and have it toasted too. Love their sides especially the smokey baba eggplant. It has be tough to find good, affordable Mediterranean food in Boston, especially close to my office. I discovered Aceituna a few years ago at their Kendall location and loved their chicken shawarma sandwich with toum (garlic sauce). It made me feel like I was back in Beirut, buying street food. Kendall has always been too far out of my way to visit often. I can't tell you how thrilled I was when they opened up another store on Federal Street. Last week we used Aceituna catering for a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon at my son's school for 75 staff members. Everything was perfect. The food was a huge hit. Gina was lovely to work with and made ordering a breeze. Everything came as expected and was delivered warm and right on time. Printed food cards were a great help to label each food on the buffet. Accommodating vegetarian and gluten free was easily done. The servings were more than generous with no fears of running short. This place is terrible. I got a rice plate with falafel, spicy potatoes, and an eggplant side. The falafel was incredibly dry and tasteless. The rice was strangely wet and also tasteless. The eggplant was bland and very very cold and the potatoes were far too soft and spicy. The service was medium speed and it cost about $11, which is an outrage for such terrible food.
