We came 25 minutes before close and they turned us away. Definitely not coming back here.

I came here for the Vegan Prix Fixe menu (Yelp Instagram giveaway winner) The menu was beautifully crafted, with each ingredient combination thought out. Personally, I found the food salty, but others did not. They thought it was perfectly seasoned. Since there was two of us, we got to try the entire menu. My favorite item by far was the butternut squash soup. This creamy, decadent soup was flavorful and comforting. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka as an addition to our meal, and this was my second favorite because I love the flavors and how juicy/tender the meat was. Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but so was the service. Everyone was super attentive and I loved how they explained each dish, even the chef came out. Big shout out to Executive Chef Anand Pokhrel for explaining his thought process of this menu. You can see the passion he has for his food, definitely try out this place!

We went for lunch and tried some new things. We had a new appetizer Golden Prawn they give 6 big size golden fried shrimp with a fresh Ginger & Garlic paste served on top of a garlic Maya sauce. Double Delicious. The 2nd appetizer Was a tried and true veggie Pakora fried balls with carrots, spinach, chickpeas, potatoes, onions, small peas with turmeric and spices. The entree was Chicken Jalfrieze. One amazing dish consisting: Boneless Chicken, onions, peppers (just a tiny bit), green beans, big chunks of cauliflower with sweet chili based tomato sauce. This yummy dish is served with Basmati Rice which is lightly drizzled with baby peas on top. We also had a freshly made Garlic Naan bread. Totally delish!!! Can't wait to go back and try new food.

My partner and I enjoyed the complimentary papadum crackers w chutney, vegetable momo, khasi ko masu (spicy), lamb do-pyaja (medium), nutty coconut naan, and Rupee beer - TASTE: 5/5 - started off great w the selection of green, tamarind, and red onion chutneys and flavorful vegetable momo. The coconut flakes on the naan were so good, added such a nice balance of sweetness. Enjoyed the spice level of the khasi ko masu bone-in goat, but liked the sweet sauce of the lamb even better. The Rupee beer was a light and refreshing complement to the meal TEXTURE: 4/5 - the papadum was addicting, so crisp and easy to devour! The naan was fluffy and perfect for cleaning up the sauces, along w the basmati rice that came w the entrees PRICE: 4/5 - subtotal came out to $58, which I thought was pretty good SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - left stuffed and w a couple boxes of leftovers SERVICE: 4/5 - we walked in at 6pm on a Friday and were immediately seated and served the complimentary papadum crackers! There were only a few tables occupied when we arrived, but the space was full by the time we left, w a regular string of folks coming in and out for takeout orders. Our waiter was kind and attentive ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - the space was larger than I expected and warmly decorated, w a merch section too! Good for small and large groups, and the plating looked a little elevated PARKING: 5/5 - ample parking in their dedicated lot

My first time coming to this restaurant and I honestly loved the food. The Vegetable samosa and butter Naan was my favorite, but honestly all their food was delicious. I'm really glad I got to meet the 3/4 owners and the creator of Rupee beer! They were all so nice and friendly. Definitely need to give this place a try! Can't wait to come back with my grandpa lol he loves Indian food.

Absolutely delicious food. I came here for a Yelp Elite event and got to try the kashmiri tikki, vegetable samosa, shaag paneer, butter chicken, vegetable rice, and butter naan. Everything was absolutely fantastic. I did have a Rupee beer with my meal. I don't personally like beer, but wanted to try it anyway. I did notice it was much more tolerable than other brands of beer I have had, The service was super friendly, and the restaurant itself was clean and organized.

I absolutely loved this place! The restaurant is very plain looking but the food was absolutely delicious. We tried everything we could on the menu, and I am astounded by how authentic the Nepalese and Indian cuisine was. We ordered so much but I have to make special note of the tandoori shrimp and khaasi ko masu (lamb curry). They were so delicious! I also have to say the service was quick snd the inside of the restaurant was very spacious and clean. There was also plenty of parking. I would 10/10 come again.

We got there mid afternoon and the place was not busy. We greeted and seated almost immediately. It was a super pleasure to have Sandesh as a server and what a super nice and helpful man. Not only did he treat us well but also explained a lot about Nepali food and culture as we asked. He checked on us often as his way to make sure that everything was going well and if we had any questions. I learned that water buffalo(buff) is one of the favorite proteins in Nepal. We were informed that they get the meat from a farm in NY and that they like to keep to authentic flavors. For an appetizer we went for the buff pan fried momos. We had both spicy and non-spicy dipping sauces since I prefer non-spicy. I found the sauce delicious and the buff to be an interesting protein that I would try again. For my main course I went for the chicken thali after learning that it is one of their traditional meals. You get a little bit of everything including dessert - a delicious greek yogurt mixed with green cardamom and coconut. Our server mentioned that if we wanted anything extra (except for the protein) that they would be happy to bring it. We had tons of leftovers because we tried several dishes and asked if we could have more rice and they provided a complimentary container when our food was packed. Place is super clean and has beautiful Nepali decorations. Even your bill is brought in a wooden box with Nepali carvings. There was soft music playing in the background. We were curious about the hot pot tables but were informed that they were left by the previous restaurant but that they don't offer hot pot. The women's bathroom is cleverly decorated with Nepali scenes and has a beautiful authentic faucet. Our server informed us that on Wednesdays and Thursdays they offer what he described as Nepali street food. Selected dishes are $5 except for a a whole fried fish that is $10. We might have to check them out one of these days. An overall great and unique find!

Tonight, I added Momo Masala to that list. I was also fortunate to have friends who live nearby, and when I mentioned to them I was going (hopefully to invite them), they said it was one of their regular places for take-out. But they also informed me that they did not have a liquor license. But that recently changed!! They now offer beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey pours - none of these are huge amounts, but there are certainly enough options for any of these. Our group of 4 did sample several cocktails. They aren't super fancy (though some drinks do have garnishes or salty/spiced rims), but everything is well crafted. Momos first, if course. They offer several varieties, but if you prefer yours steamed, read the menu carefully, as not all varieties are available steamed. We got vegetable and chicken momos, the chicken ones in a broth. Their medium level of spiciness provided a nice but not overwhelming kick. Our entrees continued the high quality. Their chicken tikka masala has a very dark and rich sauce, and the chicken chunks were tender. The lamb was equally good. The naan here (we got garlic) is very crisp, just the way I like it. This is a popular take-out spot, but there are enough tables to accommodate people who dine in conveniently, with a relaxing ambiance. This is another great add to the wide variety of dining options in Jamaica Plain.

This is due partly to another party ahead of us not leaving promptly, but I think the restaurant could have been ready ahead of us as well. I will admit that I enjoyed the ambiance - it had nice low lighting with contemporary decor which made a nice dinner spot. The service in terms of both the waiters and kitchen did not feel timely either. It took a while for drinks to arrive and there were barely any water refills in general. We ordered four different dishes on our side of the table and they were somewhat bland. The vegetable momos definitely need some kind of sauce since they were lacking in flavor. We also got a curry chicken thigh, beef noodles, and butter tofu. I think only the beef noodles had a good enough flavor profile and kick to them. I was also surprised that the portion sizes weren't close to what you would expect for the price. I think with so many good south Asian spots in the area, it's hard to recommend Martsa. I might consider coming back if I learn that there is a particular dish that I am missing out on.
