Gongura Kodi Biryani

Making the rounds to find tasty Indian in the South Shore. Mirchi Nation was the first stop. My gongura biryani had a nice tang and the rice was flavorful, but the spice was off the charts hot. Not the balance I was expecting (particularly because I ordered the dish mild). Chicken tikka masala was a touch too creamy. All in all a decent start to my tour. Will weigh in with more...

My partner and I did the weekday all-you-can-eat lunch buffet - TASTE: 4/5 - favorites included the chicken 65, all the paneers, and classic gulab jamun TEXTURE: 4/5 - crispy chicken, creamy sauces, and perfectly-fried everything PRICE: 5/5 - a steal at less than $20pp! SERVING SIZE: 5/5 - AYCE, of course SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 12:30pm on a Friday and a few other tables were occupied. The dishes were continually replaced by staff when empty ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - I've been to the Marlboro location many times, and am glad there's a Mirchi Nation near me now! This space and decor are definitely more modern PARKING: 5/5 - plenty of spots in the Pilgrim Plaza parking lot

Wow, wow, wow! We ordered from here because we needed a main dish for my Indian inlaws. My MIL is…read morea fantastic cook, and she made a bunch of amazing sides including Dahls, chipates, and bindi. These were meant to be ONLY side dishes. We had also bought jumbo shrimp from Costco, with heads to be the main course. (Her favorite!) This was an issue. Apparently these were disgusting and needed to be cleaned. There were so many shrimp. I'd slept exactly 1 hours the night b4 because my in-laws were jetlagged and wandering around the house and backyard at 3am. I'd also worked a full day. So I suggested take out for the main. It was unpopular, however there was no way I was letting MIL clean shrimp by herself for hours and no way I was spending the next two hours of my life helping her do it after working a full day and sleeping 1 hour. To give my husband credit, he researched this place extensively. We ordered the saag chicken, which was exceptional. It stood up to the other dishes on the table. (I have not ordered from an Indian restaurant in the Boston area that comes close to how good this spot was. My in-laws would have complained about every other spot. They liked this one.) Instead they thought it was great, and they are so difficult to please. Pray for me, tomorrow I gut perfectly lovely jumbo shrimp for their black vein and remove the head. (My husband is the one who bought these and paid extra for the head. He is doing extensive yard work involving a lot of heavy lifting, otherwise he'd be in charge of this job. I will also not be helping him, as was planned so he will suffer) Suffice it to say, 10/10 would recommend. Planning on adding it to my regular rotation. It will be approved by your Indian in-laws. (Also don't buy fancy shrimp for them!)

Our waiter was super nice, the heater wasn't working so he put us at a table right next to their space heater, which was thoughtful. We went during the week and were seated right away. They have a vegetarian dinner for 2 special which was perfect for sharing for our family of 4. It came with papads, 2 curries, rice, naan, and gulab jamun. Our food came out quick and flavorful. I've definitely had more authentic Indian food, but this was good quality with a diverse variety of North Indian options. The naans were soft and fluffy, the curries (malai kofta and saag channa) were the right amount of spicy, and the portions were worth the price. I'd recommend coming here if you're craving Indian food and are in the area.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was comfortable and quiet the way I like it. I usually went with either the chicken korma or the vegetable curry and both were delicious with just the right amount of spices. I always order my spice level to be mild and they cooked my meal exactly to my liking. I have had their vegetable pakoras and their naan bread and they were also very good as well. The servers there have always been attentive and very nice to deal with. I have always enjoyed my meals here.

Additionally, the ambiance is great - the decorations were cute, the restaurant was dimly lit + the dishes are clean. The waitress was super nice + accommodating to our requests. She made great recommendations and brought out extra chutneys and sambar as asked. The menu is really diverse (all day breakfast, appetizers, variety of veg + non-veg), the curries come with rice, and the food portions were great as compared to the price. Also, the dosas were huge and our food in general was super flavorful as well. I'd recommend this restaurant for families with picky Indian parents who have strict veg/non-veg restrictions.

This is a new addition to the food court at the South Shore Plaza. I stopped by for lunch…read more There was a great selection of Indian dishes to pick from to create a dinner combo. You can either create a combo with one, two or three meat or vegetable dishes and then you get rice, salad and two pakoras with your meal. You can add either garlic or plain naan bread for an additional cost if you wish to. I wanted a combo with just one chicken dish but was uncertain of which one to pick since there were several chicken dishes and they all looked good. So the counter staff let me taste a few different items and I ended up going with the chicken curry. It was delicious so I definitely made the right choice. After I finished my meal I went back for some of their very tasty rice pudding. The service was fast and friendly. Very helpful staff. I will be back for sure!

I believe the food is south asian, Indian / Nepalese. Stopped in here for lunch while waiting for a different appointment and noticed they are finally open. The staff were friendly and will tell you what everything is. You can choose their plates of pick 1 protein or pick 2 that comes with rice, salad and some fried potatoes/veg app. We ordered 2 plates of Pick 2 and it's about $13 per plate. Tried their veggie rice and their plain rice and both were good however ma dukes didn't like one of the herbs they put in the veggie rice not sure what it was tho: We got the chicken Marsala, the spicy chicken and tbh i don't remember any of the names. Going forward i would recommend putting little name plates up of each type of food item available to choose from when people come to point and pick! Overall enjoyable and good portion for lunch. Your first protein choice gets the bigger section of the tray, your second protein choice gets a small square section, so choose your protein strategically. Overall I'm glad they have decided to open in SSP to give the food court another viable and good option of food! Thanks for lunch, will be back! We also are grabbing the lamb plate for my brother for later tonight, and maybe some garlic naan next time around when we have more time! Clean food stall, hoping for more lighting would help their presence in the food court it's pretty dim walking by until you get up to the food. Will be back.
