    Paneer Butter Masala
    Rahul R.

tl;dr I've been going here for over a decade and the quality remains strong. Highly recommend a visit for good Indian food! My family has been going to Masala Art for over a decade, and the food quality is always excellent. They have a large footprint in Needham center with easy parking, including street parking out front and a parking lot out back. They're also right by the Needham Center commuter rail line for those coming in via train. The most recent time we visited was on a Sunday evening for my dad's birthday dinner (as a party of 4). The restaurant only had a few other groups present, and the relaxed atmosphere was pleasant. Though Masala Art is more known for their weekend lunch buffets, we always come for dinner. Across the table, we ordered the Paneer Butter Masala, Pav Bhaji, Madras Chicken, Chana Bhatura, and Tandoori Roti. Almost every entree comes with either rice or naan by default, which is a nice reprieve from the majority of Indian restaurants these days that charge extra for them. The Paneer Butter Masala was excellent, and honestly way better than any equivalent dish I've found in the Boston area. It was spiced perfectly, and had the right amount of creaminess (i.e. *not* too creamy). The Pav Bhaji and Chana Bhatura were also great dishes, with special recognition for the bhaji and chana themselves, which were also properly and flavorfully spiced. This is a higher end Indian restaurant for sure, all things considered, but the atmosphere is relaxed. The service is also prompt and detailed, and I always appreciate how Vinod Kapoor (the owner) comes by every table to ask how folks are doing throughout the meal. Overall, I strongly recommend a visit to Masala Art as well as to their sister restaurant Clay Oven in Lexington (which I go to more frequently purely due to distance). I'm surprised there aren't more regular patrons at either - I for one will be back very soon.

Went here before bowling nearby and great Indian restaurant. Had the buffet and while not huge options, there is vegetarian and meat. I loved the garlic naan we ordered and the chicken tikka masala

I went during lunchtime with my colleagues and they had a buffet. The buffet had a couple options but wasn't very extensive. I ended up ordering the tandoori mix grill, the shrimp was pretty good in it. I also got a chai and didn't really enjoy it. Maybe because I am Indian, I expected the food to be a bit more authentic. My colleagues who did the buffet didn't really enjoy the food, it wasn't spicy enough. At the end we asked to have split checks and the staff gave us a single check and told us to split it ourselves. The place was clean and spacious. It didn't meet my expectations so I probably won't go back.

We asked a number of questions, and they took their time with each one. We have been trying to find a decent Indian Restaurant after Coriander changed ownership, and it has been a very disappointing journey, until now. We started with the Allo Tikki Chat, and Coconut Shrimp. Both were well done, The Coconut shrimp was not overly sweet as it is in so many restaurants. We then had Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, with Cheese Garlic Naan. We also had 2 Mango Lassi's and 1 Masala Chai. When trying an indian restaurant you have to order Chicken Tikka Masala to see how they do it. It was well done and the flavor was just right, salty enough, not too sweet, and tasted the smokiness of the chicken. The Lamb VIndaloo had rich flavor, we asked for a medium and could feel it. The butter chicken had a nice rich flavor. The Garlic Naan tasted fresh and crispy. The only dish I felt was not perfect was the Palak Paneer. Sometimes people overblend the Spinach, and it had gotten to the point where it felt more of a smoothie. The Mango Lassis were also well done, not too sweet and you could taste the mango and the cooling yogurt. The Masala Chai was also full of flavor and not overly sweet. We will definitely be going back.

My family and I was craving Indian food today and one of our Indian friends recommended this (new…read moreto us) place in Watertown (near/behind the Lexus dealership). It was convenient to get to with plenty of parking up front. Its about 5 minutes from Arsenal Yards. The restaurant looks pretty modern and trendy, with several tables on the side for dining in. I was promptly greeted upon entry with a smile. Picking up my takeout order was easy and quick. Food was packaged well and secure - important for this cuisine as you don't want to lose any of the sauces! The food portions are really good and pricing is pretty reasonable given the times, and pricing of similar restaurants in the area. More importantly, the quality and tastes of the food was exquisite! Good Indian food takes time and care in preparation to ensure the flavors are balanced with properly prepared ingredients. The texture of the meats and veggies were spot-on, with great balance in flavor. It wasn't overbearing and I think their flavors are flexible enough to cater to most palates. The chicken 65 was surprisingly not soggy, given this was take out. The butter chicken was so creamy with generous chicken pieces that were tender but not falling apart. The chicken tikka had great flavors and similarly well prepared chicken pieces. The garlic naan was actually flavorful, and is very evidently crafted onsite vs mass produced. The chicken biriyani was probably the standout dish. It was prepared with fluffy basmati rice with a great blend of spices (and color) and tender chicken pieces. I liked that the onions for some of the dishes were large cut and easily removed, as not everyone in the family likes onions. The only critique for the place is that there were no paper menus for old heads like myself that still prefers to look over it prior to ordering. Luckily, the online ordering experience was simple and straight forward. I created a Toast account in the process and hope it will be even easier going forward. You can even specify the spice level for most dishes. Overall, Chennai Eats is a wonderful addition to the local community. The place is clean, the food is tasty and a family could get full and happy without breaking the bank. I look forward to trying this place again, and exploring some of their other offerings. I'm also glad to have found a closer alternative to quality Indian food, vs going all the way out to Godavari.

Ghee Masala Dosa (7.5/10): Also my first time having dosas, so it's hard for me to judge how good they are relatively. Nonetheless, they were super tasty! I loved the ghee flavor. Texture was great. I have not had this kind of fried chicken from an Indian restaurant before. Flavors were also on point with just a hint of spicy. Butter Chicken (9/10): Delicious!! Great balance of flavors. Chicken was tender. Service was good. Prices are very fair, either average or below average. We'll definitely be back!!!

We walked into a warm, inviting space where the attentive service set a good tone from the start, making the experience feel welcoming without being overbearing. The butter chicken is the dish to anchor an order around, and it delivered in the way a good butter chicken should. Rich and creamy with a sauce that has enough depth to feel like it was built properly rather than assembled quickly, the flavor was full and warming without leaning too sweet. It paired naturally with the garlic naan, which arrived soft and slightly charred, making it the right vehicle for working through the sauce. The mango lassi is worth ordering alongside, sweet and thick without being cloying, with the mango flavor coming through clearly rather than getting lost in the yogurt base. Beyond those, the biryani and the Kerala fish curry have both built strong followings among regulars, and the samosa chaat and paneer chilli are worth exploring as starters if you want to build out a fuller meal. The food does not always hit the transcendent high that the best Indian cooking can reach, but it is consistently well executed and satisfying in a way that makes it a reliable choice in a city where good Indian food can be surprisingly hard to find. Service remained attentive throughout the meal, with staff checking in at the right moments and keeping water filled without being intrusive. For a dependable Indian meal in downtown Boston, Sarva Indian Cuisine delivers exactly what you want from a neighborhood spot.
