It was unpopular, however there was no way I was letting MIL clean shrimp by herself for hours and no way I was spending the next two hours of my life helping her do it after working a full day and sleeping 1 hour. A few minutes later, one of the men came by to tell us the pakoras will take a little extra time, we tell them that's fine. Within 10-15 minutes we get all the other food. All very good. We eat until we cannot possibly eat any more, still no pakoras and no one has come by to check on us or fill our water. We flag down the woman who took our order and ask about the pakoras and she says they are making them from scratch and they're not ready yet, do we want something else? We tell her we'll take them to go when they are ready. Ten minutes later we are sitting and waiting for someone to come by with take home containers and a check. Finally the woman comes by with the pakoras and we ask for take out containers for our leftovers. Another 5 minutes and she comes by with them. We have to ask for the check as she has not offered that or dessert or anything. We pack up our leftovers and finally get the check which thankfully we were paying with cash or who knows how long we would have waited. The food here is very good, but the service is so frustrating. They had some take out orders to fill, but there were at least 8 employees there and no one thought to come by and check in. And if an appetizer is going to take an hour, communicate that, we would have either chosen something else or cancelled it. I think we're done with Shiva's Kitchen, it's just too stressful.

I have on many occasions ordered a mango lassi to go with a side order of just a cup of ice. I like my mango lassi is super icy and cold. The vegetable samosas are so enjoyable that my family often orders several to go for a nighttime snack. Samosas are crispy, fried Indian pastries filled with a spiced savory mixture mashed potatoes, peas, ginger, green chilies, and spices like cumin, coriander, and garam masala.
