Best roti! I'm so happy I finally checked this place out and got some food. Be prepared to wait. I went on a Saturday afternoon and waited a little over 30 mins for my food to be ready. It's a kitchen and store. First you walk in the store and give your order. They will write your order down on two paper bags. Then you walk over to the kitchen side and give the bags to one of the people there. There were so many people waiting inside and outside the place. Finally they will call your name and you pay at the register in the kitchen. I didn't see anyone eating inside but there are chairs and bar seating. The service was great and everyone was super nice. The food is worth the wait. I got the beef, chicken and shrimp roti and one double. It was so fresh and tasty. I haven't stopped thinking about the food since. If you get a chance definitely stop by and put an order it. You won't regret it. Parking is tricky but if you're lucky you can get a spot in the lot or on the street.

Five stars for the food. Less one star for the wait time. The food is SO good and you get a lot for a little! Authentic, flavorful, local. Yes and yes again!! If they had a more efficient process that might help with the wait time, but honestly I am so here for this food. I came for the first time yesterday and stopped by again today. It's that good! What to expect: when you enter you'll order at the counter in the "store" section. They will write your order and name on a paper bag, you then bring said paper bag to the "restaurant" section and wait. Bring your patience because you will wait during this time (15+ minute easily). They'll call your name to retrieve your bag, you pay then GRUB!!

A large is a meal and a half and the pricing is still reasonable for what you get. Some may debate me on the filling but the skins are not to be compared. I have been coming here for 30+ years and the skins have actually gotten a bit better, even though they were already great. New staffing had definitely improved the service. I can remember many years of having to get there by 6:00 if you wanted roti because they were on the last batch of boneless chicken and curried potatoes. In recent years they seem to have gotten better with managing portions and volume. The location is tough. I usually park on the side street just above them because the double parking mayhem of Blue Hill Avenue is not worth the stress. Few people ever dine in. There are a couple of booths but the business is almost entirely takeout. I do miss the Tremont Street/South End and Roslindale locations but I am so glad that Blue Hill Ali's is going strong!

It's a small, family-owned restaurant that's half Filipino and half Jamaican, run by a Filipino Tita and her Jamaican husband. She learned how to cook Jamaican food to remind him of home, which honestly makes the whole place feel even more meaningful. The Filipino dishes I tried were authentic and tasted homemade -- the kind of food that feels like it came straight out of your auntie's kitchen. The Jamaican food was also delicious (I can't personally vouch for authenticity there), but everything we had was flavorful and satisfying. It's a great, casual, order at the counter spot -- and it's right next to a Filipino market, which makes the experience even better. I love supporting small businesses, especially ones that represent my culture. Bright Light is the kind of place that deserves the love.
