My go to for indian food. CTM, garlic naan, samosas - The image shows an Indian meal on a dark table, including naan bread wrapped in aluminum foil, a container of white rice, a bowl of lentil or vegetable curry, and a small basket of samosas. There are also small containers of sauces and chutneys, such as tamarind and possibly mint or chili sauce. The setup suggests takeout or casual dining, with the food arranged for easy sharing or individual consumption.

Amazing takeout. I've tried multiple dishes and they're all good. I would recommend this order but I haven't found anything not worth ordering!

Gigantic aloo parantha, massive with sides! Pick and yogurt and onions

Finally I found my perfect butter chicken recipe and my new favorite Indian restaurant. I ordered them for delivery and the portions were fantastic and food quality was great. They are well priced, amazing quality, attentional to detail, and large portioned dishes. 5/5 -Aloo paratha was HUGE and they provided me with pickle, their own yogurt with perfect balance of seasoning to the yogurt, butter, onions and chili all to eat with it. It was IMPRESSIVE -Butter chicken was amazing. The chicken chunks were like real slow cooked meat melt in your mouth and you can choose your spice level. It was out of this world. The chicken had a tandoor color to it on its own not addition to being in the creamy sauce. I 110% recommend this. -Samosa Chaat - the portions for this dish are huge also! My container was packed full of rich samosa pieces and chicks peas with sauces and garnishes we ate this for two days -Mango juice - two large glasses! -Coconut ice cream and mango ice cream 2 large scoops of each!

Samosa was fine. On the bland side. Biryani was terrible, with mushrooms in it! Some sort of pulao/fried rice hybrid. The only good thing was the packing.

This is a great spot. Everything was excellent. Samosas top notch, curries were great, good naan, chicken biryani was phenomenal.

The restaurant offers a beautiful ambiance and you're warmly greeted by their wonderful team as you walk in. The menu boasts unique speciality dishes that you won't find in most places. The owner, Manju, curated a blend of flavors for me to try that paired perfectly together. This truly elevated my experience. I enjoyed every dish here. I had a difficult two days, but being here at Ssaanjh was healing. I embraced my time here and look forward to coming back with family, friends, or even myself. The space is clean, stylish, and thoughtfully decorated, blending a chic Indian vibe with subtle Italian-inspired décor. It's a lovely setting, especially for date night or a more upscale dinner. That said, the food itself was... fine, but not standout. We spent about $60 on one appetizer, one shared entrée, and two pieces of naan, which feels a bit steep for what we got. I also left hungry. Highlights: The dahi puri was the star of the meal -- super refreshing, flavorful, and a perfect bite between richer dishes. The naan was well-seasoned, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and genuinely delicious. The butter chicken had a nice kick of spice but was otherwise surprisingly bland and lacked depth of flavor. If you've had a lot of Indian food (especially in the Cambridge area), this may fall a bit short. There are several nearby spots that offer more memorable flavors. If you're staying in or near Boston proper, Shanti in Dorchester and Sher-a-Punjab in Quincy are both stronger options. That said, Saanjh is very convenient for its location, which gives it an edge. Service: Service was quick, efficient, and genuinely warm. We had the pleasure of speaking with Saj (?) who was an absolute highlight of the experience. He was friendly, engaging, and went above and beyond -- even staying about 15 minutes past his break just to chat with us. He clearly cares about the guest experience and deserves serious recognition (and probably a raise!). Overall: Come here for the ambiance, service, and convenience. If exceptional Indian food is your top priority, there are better options nearby. Still, a pleasant experience overall, especially thanks to the great service.

Unfortunately not enough to make up for bad the food was though. Worst indian food I've had in the Boston area yet. Would not be coming back unless significant changes are made.

I really can't have more than a few bites of this. The chicken was so dry, too. Rice was below average. Nizami Chicken Dum Biryani (1/10): I thought the butter chicken was dry, but this chicken tasted like it came out of a desiccator in the center of the sun. Holy moly this chicken was almost inedible. The rice was pretty bad, lacking in flavor. The sauces were fine, but also unnecessary. They really didn't pair that well with the biryani. Worst butter chicken AND worst biryani I've had in my life. I hit the jackpot today. At least the portion sizes are big. Prices are reasonable (if the food were actually edible). I got this recommendation from the r/Boston subreddit. I've now learned my lesson.

Tonight, I added Momo Masala to that list. I was also fortunate to have friends who live nearby, and when I mentioned to them I was going (hopefully to invite them), they said it was one of their regular places for take-out. But they also informed me that they did not have a liquor license. But that recently changed!! They now offer beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey pours - none of these are huge amounts, but there are certainly enough options for any of these. Our group of 4 did sample several cocktails. They aren't super fancy (though some drinks do have garnishes or salty/spiced rims), but everything is well crafted. Momos first, if course. They offer several varieties, but if you prefer yours steamed, read the menu carefully, as not all varieties are available steamed. We got vegetable and chicken momos, the chicken ones in a broth. Their medium level of spiciness provided a nice but not overwhelming kick. Our entrees continued the high quality. Their chicken tikka masala has a very dark and rich sauce, and the chicken chunks were tender. The lamb was equally good. The naan here (we got garlic) is very crisp, just the way I like it. This is a popular take-out spot, but there are enough tables to accommodate people who dine in conveniently, with a relaxing ambiance. This is another great add to the wide variety of dining options in Jamaica Plain.

It's a big, clean, open environment, but there were no guests on the inside when walking in. We came in around 12:30 so there should've been at least some people there - which usually is a telling sign. My dad ordered chicken over rice, and I ordered lamb in a wrap. The wrap wasn't a wrap as it wasn't folded in on the sides, but rather left as a roll up. Rice wasn't bad, but it was just more on the plain side. Things just tasted plain and not that flavorful. I don't wanna sauce to do that, I would much rather have the food presented itself as flavorful. The meat wasn't all that great texture, wise or flavor wise. Also, the bread that the rollup was for broke apart, and the taste was slightly subpar. I could've marked it as a 3 Star place. But in reality. I know I wouldn't be coming back here again. They did offer pizza which looked kinda unappetizing when seeing it. Between trying to incorporate Indian, Mediterranean, Pizza, ans Desserts, Boulangerie, and Fusion by inserting Halal into burritos - it's too much. Too much fusion, too American. Either be the dominant force of having it as a Indian American restaurant or go the dessert & pastry route way.

The restaurant shares an entryway with an apartment rental realty business, which is already a bit weird from the point of view of atmosphere. I almost missed the door to the restaurant because it's in a corner, and there were several delivery boxes of takeout containers waiting to be taken in, almost blocking the doorway. If I had been in a wheelchair, I wouldn't have been able to get through the door. I mentioned this to the front desk staff and the boxes were gone before I left. My plan was to eat at the bar. It turned out that there was a large party hanging out at the bar before sitting down at the large central table, so the only room for me was at the very edge of the bar. However, the bartender was nice and got me a menu, and they did eventually sit down so I got a little more space. My cocktail (pomegranate old-fashioned) was excellent. So was my turmeric tandoori salmon. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, which was very reasonably priced for Brookline. I was not thrilled by the cardamom chocolate tart: the chocolate was liquid, inside a stale-tasting shell. Overall, it has potential and I'll probably come back. I'll call in advance to ask about large parties, and I'll avoid the chocolate tart unless I'm assured that it's changed.

There was a great singer, pianist, and sax player to really set the mood. They were super fun, especially when a couple got engaged! To start, I got their ginger martini and while my friend went with a Do-er neat (not a whiskey drinker myself, lol). He tried to order 2 of their beers but they were out of both. My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.
