    DOSA

WOW this was amazing! While it is a little expensive, the portions are very large so you'll realize the price point makes sense. Everything was super flavorful, I cannot wait to go back. I tried the dosa and the samosas, both of which I'd recommend! They also have vegan options. There's seating inside but the place is a bit small. Service was fast.

    An order of dahi puri

Quick service, tasty food, very average dining experience. The dahi puri was filled with a tangy, slightly sweet yogurt like substance. The dish is nice, but a flavor pallet I wasn't ready for. I also got a canteen sandwich and that was very good! Large portion for the price.

Nice spot for South Indian food. We all got Dosas with Spicy Potatoes, Onions, and Chicken. The dosa itself was very tasty and went great with the Coconut Chutney. However, the spicy potato and chicken fillings were pretty salty unfortunately. The Ginger Chutney also had a medicinal taste to it

I was so happy when this location opened in Harvard Square. I constantly visited the Seaport location when I was in the area. You don't find many locations that serve good dosas anymore. Madras Dosas is conveniently open until 3am. The seaport location was filled with people even late at night. I didn't expect people of all ages to crave dosas at all hours of the day but here we are. I love the Chipotle style menu of adding any toppings you want onto a dosa. You no longer have to stick to a ridged menu without any variety. They finally opened their second location in Harvard Square. It is located deeper in the area near IHOP. It was a little hard to find at first. The location seemed to be somewhat smaller with less tables. I ordered their plain dosa with aloo tiki and samosa chaat on the side. The food was wonderful. I wish the portions were bigger. They put a decent amount in the middle but that was it. Most of the dosa was empty and left me hungry afterwards. I did pick up a Mango Lassi which filled me up a bit more. Overall great place if you are craving dosa but I wish the portions were larger to match the prices.

Yummy and filling! I especially loved the coconut chutney. The corn and cheese filling was great. Good for a quick meal solo or with friends with ample seating options near campus. They also have lassie drinks and the service was quick around 5-10 min.

Really enjoyed my dinner here at Madras Dosa in Cambridge. This is a casual style restaurant where you order at the counter and your food is ready in just a couple of minutes. I ordered a Dosa which seems to be the specialty item here. You get to choose your own toppings inside. They actually had a suggestion for what to put so I went with that--spicy potatoes, cheese, and onions. I also got beef. The portion is huge and I left feeling very full. The dosa itself and all the sauces it came with were very flavorful. It's right in the heart of Harvard Square so parking is either street (if you're lucky) or a nearby garage. All in all I really enjoyed my experience here and I will be back!

Ordered a chicken dosa and costed $14. Definitely delicious and there was a lot of chicken stuffed in there. Lot of quality food and the people making the food were really nice. The tables were always full though and quite dirty. We had to wait 10-15 mins to find a seat.

Yummy dosas at this small cambridge location. I love that you can add whatever you want like onions, potatoes, gunpowder and even chicken. The dosa had a nice crunch, the potatoes were yummy. The dosa was huge and came with sambar and two other sauces. Prices are fairly reasonable. Service is good. Bathroom was nice and clean. There are very few tables so you may need to get it to go. No tap water there. You do have to buy a bottled water. Overall a tasty treat in harvard square.

    Lamb over rice

Quick, delicious, reliable late night eats. If you want to eat real food instead of fast food, definitely come here. I had the Chana over rice and it was good. My only complaint is for the price ($13) it was mostly rice. I wish there was more Chana. It was also pretty spicy and I love spicy food, but this was taking over all the other spices. Glad I tried them.

The dosa is way bigger than I expected! Definitely shareable. I got it with lamb, spicy potatoes, and pineapple. The pineapple is a sweet and tangy chunky sauce that balances the savory spice of the other elements well. Each element, including the three dipping sauces, has so much complex flavor. It doesn't feel cheap at $17 for a wrap with three fillings, but the quantity and quality of the fillings are worth it. It feels authentic to a degree that's hard to find elsewhere. As a heads up, the lamb was quite spicy, much spicier than the spicy potatoes. Be careful and ask for help ordering if you can't handle spice!

Spicy potato dosa, lamb canteen sandwich

The spicy potato dosa and lamb canteen sandwich were both excellent. I was impressed by the quality of the lamb in the sandwich, the fact that it came with chips, and that it was very hearty and filling for only $13. There were a few too many flies in the restaurant, but I'm not sure if that is normal or not. Service was excellent and we really enjoyed our meal! Will definitely return if we are in the Cambridge area.

Came here at the recommendation of friends. Overall, food tasted good but definitely wish there was more substance for the price. It's not expensive, but on the slight pricier side for what you get. We got dosas with spicy podi and potatoes. The gunpowder is definitely enough to take down the most experienced in spice, but I loved the potato dosa. We also got the chickpea chaat, idly (a little sour) and pani puri (yum). Highly recommend the mango lassi as well.

I was at Harvard admit day and was craving a dosa. Another parent suggested I visit Madras Dosa. It's a short five minute walk and the menu is extensive but customizable. Madras dosa is south indian cuisine and the ser ice was on point. The ambiance is fast casual place your order at counter and pickup when your name is called. What's great is that they use eco friendly plates and utensils. They have a few branches and I invite them to open a branch in Irvine, CA home to the next cricket stadium.

The food here was good but the scarcity of the accompanying chutney/ sambhar and then to up-charge for another tiny amount is a turn-off.

One of the best places to eat in Harvard Square. Authentic Indian street food, reasonable prices, served quickly.

That being said, the place was packed after 7 so consider what time you're coming when trying to walk in without a reservation. The entrance is up the stairs and as soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with a great view of Winthrop Park and the surrounding area. We were promptly seated and the lively wait staff came and took our drink order shortly thereafter. We started with the complimentary papadum and chutneys and our appetizer order of hara bhara kebab which was a nice vegetarian fritter. For our entrees, we got the baingan bhartan, chicken tikka masala (dairy free one), yellow daal tadka, tandoori roti, onion kulcha, and paneera bharura. The breads were all fantastic and I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala (dairy free made with coconut milk) just to see how it was different from a standard chicken tikka masala. For dessert, we got the gajar halwa (which was awesome!) and kulfi. Overall, I'm glad to have finally tried this place and may revisit it again in the future. Worth considering if you're in the area.

Our server was incredibly attentive and would always make sure to follow up and that everything is good. There was a plate that we had that had a stain on it. Our server noticed immediately and swapped out the plate without us having to tell him. He refilled our waters as soon as he saw that our glasses were empty. Compared to the first time that I was here, I think the service remains excellent and unchanged. The quality of the food was amazing. Overall, the dishes were delicious. I enjoy the blend of spices and flavors that you could taste within the food. In terms of food quality, this is easily becoming my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. I appreciate the restaurant location and internal setup. The restaurant is nestled near Harvard Square on the second floor with a nice view to the local neighborhood around Cambridge. There were many tables by the window so customers could enjoy the ambience. Overall, would recommend. If I find myself returning to Boston, I will definitely make time to stop by again.

Indian is one of my favorites and this was a fairly short drive from our hotel in Waltham. We made a reservation but that did not seem to be at all necessary. It was a Monday night and it was not particularly busy. We were seated right away. They featured a very pleasant dining room and we were able to secure a table by the front window. This was a great spot and added to our experience. The service was very good. We were attended to quickly and well cared for throughout our time there. The food came out in a timely manner well presented at the appropriate temperature. My colleague opted for the Creamy Coconut Chicken. I tried a bite of this and was favorably impressed. In addition, he had a Mango Lassi to which he also gave a thumbs-up. I had the Fish Curry, which I ordered at a medium level in terms of spice. It was very tasty as it had just the right amount of kick. He ordered the Garlic Naan to accompany his meal while I had my favorite type of Indian bread (my favorite type of bread period, really) Peshwari Naan. We were both happy with these choices. I also had a glass of cabernet which turned out to be a decent choice. Our final bill that included food, drinks, tax and tip was $86. At $43 per person in this inflationary time, I was happy enough with the value given the quality of the fare and the overall experience. I would be happy to make a return visit.
