    Gobi Pakora
    Parita A.

My true rating would be 2.5. I've been to this restaurant before and had a great experience, but unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to that. We ordered the Gobi Pakora, Paneer Pakora, and Kadhi Paneer. The Kadhi Paneer was solid, flavorful, with a nice level of spice, and the naan was soft and fresh. The Gobi Pakora were overly oily (there was a visible pool of oil in the tray), and the cauliflower itself tasted pretty plain , like it hadn't been spiced or seasoned much. The Paneer Pakora were slightly better, but still nothing memorable. What really stood out this time was the service, and not in a good way. When we walked in, the staff member at the front didn't acknowledge us, so we weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or wait. Throughout the meal, we had to ask for water refills, and our used plates were left on the table until we left. It wasn't particularly busy, so it felt like we were being overlooked. A small moment that stuck with me: we asked for a bag for our leftovers, and instead of bringing it over, the staff member waited until my husband came out of the bathroom and handed it to him...even though I was already sitting at the table with the containers. It's minor, but it added to the overall feeling of inattentiveness. Hoping this was just an off night, since I've had better experiences here in the past. For now, I'd give it 2.5 stars, with the Kadhi Paneer being the highlight.

5 STARS HANDS DOWN!! This place is a must if you are looking for authentic Indian food. You are immediately greeted when you enter. It is a spacious, clean restaurant. They have so many options that you can choose from. Their Palak Paneer & Chicken tikka masala is amazing! We got their lunch special which gives you the option to try a few dishes and it comes with rice, samosa and you can purchase naan as an upgrade. The portions are plentiful, the food is hot and fresh and customer service here is phenomenal!

The food was disappointing- it was a little bland, and we asked for hot, and neither was hot. One was barely medium spicy. The garlic naan was fragrant but also lacked flavor. We sat at a table and couldn't see the lunch specials posted until we left, but the server never mentioned to them us so we ordered off the dinner menu. The tiffin may have been better, but the regular dishes were a let down.

The restaurant looks pretty unassuming from the outside and would be easy to miss, but it was a great place for Indian food. The Tandoori Chicken was well cooked and the portions were fairly large. The vindaloo and curry were both delicious as well. One was creamy with a sweet hint and the other a tomato like spicy dish. I do think all the dishes were slightly catered for the American taste as the spices weren't as strong, but they still filled the Indian food craving. The dishes do come with rice but the garlic Naan was also toasty, soft and perfect for all the leftover curry/sauce. The waiters were also very efficient and prompt. They were able to give us some recommendations that turned out great. There is plenty of meter parking in the area as well. Overall, a good place to go when you're deciding on what you want to eat that day.

This place was awesome! The food was so yummy and our waiter was so nice and gave us great recommendations. My favorites were the Puri Chaat and the Kofta. Good big portions of rice. Would recommend and I would go back here!

This place has delicious food and fast service with BIG portions! Highly recommend stopping by! Also, I got medium spicy which wasn't spicy so you can feel free to go high spice if you're looking for something spicier!

First time ordering delivery and very impressed! As a desi person I'm a big critic of Indian food and the butter chicken was fantastic, the meat was cut into thin strips and were juicy, not like chunks of white breast meat which I don't prefer. The sauce had a spicy kick without me needing to request it so points for that and a nice consistency with layers of flavors. The garlic naan is a must, very fluffy and fresh tasting and I was very impressed by the aloo paratha it had an authentic flavor and the potatoes were seasoned well. We also got the tandoori chicken with bone and it came with an impressive salad bed which is exactly what you need to pair with it and a hearty slice of lemon. I would definitely Order from here again!

garlic naan, lamb coconut korma, and kadhai paneer
    Erin O.

For their takeout experience, I feel like this restaurant is pretty standard for the area. The prices are very high (most entrees are over $20) but the portions and quality do make up for it. We ordered one order of garlic naan, lamb coconut korma, and kadhai paneer based on other reviews. The naan was fresh and soft - my only complaint is that I wish there were more pieces per serving! The lamb coconut korma was absolutely delicious and flavorful. The meat was cooked perfectly and the curry had the perfect balance of flavors. The kadhai paneer was super flavorful as well but was unfortunately way too spicy for me. I feel like I have a decent spice tolerance but this was a lot for my palate. However I'd still love to come back and try more dishes since it seems like they have so many great options here!

Butter chicken & garlic naan (naan was ON POINT)

Huge portions, super friendly staff, clean, courteous, tasty! Craving casual Indian food and found a GREAT place! Regular things were done well (butter chicken, garlic naan), but it's hard to surprise me with Indian food (am Indian and eat it on the reg): black pepper chicken! I didn't realize Indian food was cooked w black pepper like this- it was a dry, tandoor-style chicken kebab, but seasoned with black pepper-- SUPER delicious!

That being said, the place was packed after 7 so consider what time you're coming when trying to walk in without a reservation. The entrance is up the stairs and as soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with a great view of Winthrop Park and the surrounding area. We were promptly seated and the lively wait staff came and took our drink order shortly thereafter. We started with the complimentary papadum and chutneys and our appetizer order of hara bhara kebab which was a nice vegetarian fritter. For our entrees, we got the baingan bhartan, chicken tikka masala (dairy free one), yellow daal tadka, tandoori roti, onion kulcha, and paneera bharura. The breads were all fantastic and I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala (dairy free made with coconut milk) just to see how it was different from a standard chicken tikka masala. For dessert, we got the gajar halwa (which was awesome!) and kulfi. Overall, I'm glad to have finally tried this place and may revisit it again in the future. Worth considering if you're in the area.

Our server was incredibly attentive and would always make sure to follow up and that everything is good. There was a plate that we had that had a stain on it. Our server noticed immediately and swapped out the plate without us having to tell him. He refilled our waters as soon as he saw that our glasses were empty. Compared to the first time that I was here, I think the service remains excellent and unchanged. The quality of the food was amazing. Overall, the dishes were delicious. I enjoy the blend of spices and flavors that you could taste within the food. In terms of food quality, this is easily becoming my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. I appreciate the restaurant location and internal setup. The restaurant is nestled near Harvard Square on the second floor with a nice view to the local neighborhood around Cambridge. There were many tables by the window so customers could enjoy the ambience. Overall, would recommend. If I find myself returning to Boston, I will definitely make time to stop by again.

Indian is one of my favorites and this was a fairly short drive from our hotel in Waltham. We made a reservation but that did not seem to be at all necessary. It was a Monday night and it was not particularly busy. We were seated right away. They featured a very pleasant dining room and we were able to secure a table by the front window. This was a great spot and added to our experience. The service was very good. We were attended to quickly and well cared for throughout our time there. The food came out in a timely manner well presented at the appropriate temperature. My colleague opted for the Creamy Coconut Chicken. I tried a bite of this and was favorably impressed. In addition, he had a Mango Lassi to which he also gave a thumbs-up. I had the Fish Curry, which I ordered at a medium level in terms of spice. It was very tasty as it had just the right amount of kick. He ordered the Garlic Naan to accompany his meal while I had my favorite type of Indian bread (my favorite type of bread period, really) Peshwari Naan. We were both happy with these choices. I also had a glass of cabernet which turned out to be a decent choice. Our final bill that included food, drinks, tax and tip was $86. At $43 per person in this inflationary time, I was happy enough with the value given the quality of the fare and the overall experience. I would be happy to make a return visit.

We walked into a warm, inviting space where the attentive service set a good tone from the start, making the experience feel welcoming without being overbearing. The butter chicken is the dish to anchor an order around, and it delivered in the way a good butter chicken should. Rich and creamy with a sauce that has enough depth to feel like it was built properly rather than assembled quickly, the flavor was full and warming without leaning too sweet. It paired naturally with the garlic naan, which arrived soft and slightly charred, making it the right vehicle for working through the sauce. The mango lassi is worth ordering alongside, sweet and thick without being cloying, with the mango flavor coming through clearly rather than getting lost in the yogurt base. Beyond those, the biryani and the Kerala fish curry have both built strong followings among regulars, and the samosa chaat and paneer chilli are worth exploring as starters if you want to build out a fuller meal. The food does not always hit the transcendent high that the best Indian cooking can reach, but it is consistently well executed and satisfying in a way that makes it a reliable choice in a city where good Indian food can be surprisingly hard to find. Service remained attentive throughout the meal, with staff checking in at the right moments and keeping water filled without being intrusive. For a dependable Indian meal in downtown Boston, Sarva Indian Cuisine delivers exactly what you want from a neighborhood spot.
