The food here is amazing and plenty of vegetarian/vegan options! There is parking in the back!

I ordered from Curry Express, via GrubHub, based on good reviews. The good reviews are a lie. I tried contacting GH support. Even their AI bot was concerned. Was transferred to some "real" agent named "Jester" who definitely lives up to his name Order was a little late, but that's no big deal. What *is* a big deal is that the driver called to say he was here. I went to meet him and there was nobody in sight. I went into my house a few steps to grab my phone and call him back, and as I was about to go call from my porch, dude was ENTERING MY HOME. First he wasn't there, then he was entering my home. What the heck?!?! I explained all of this to the chat, and the AI bot IMMEDIATELY said "this is a very concerning incident. I am transferring you immediately to a live agent" 15 minutes later, this "Jester" clown says he is sorry my order is late and please give him a moment to call for an ETA. I told him he clearly had not read what actually happened, and I copy and pasted the conversation with the bot for him. Then he says something else completely irrelevant about the order being wrong, and so I again pointed to the previous chat with the BIGGER PROBLEM of the DRIVER ENTERING MY HOME, and he told me I "need to be appropriate" (I called him illiterate and he deserved it) I told him I am totally appropriate to be shaken up, as a disabled person whose house was just entered by a stranger. He disconnected the chat and asked for a rating. If I could give zero stars, I would give negative 85 stars. The package wqs tampered with, so nothing is edible, and the tea wasn't even there. Also no utensils. Probably because he used them to eat half of my food. I want my money back. I am poor, and was trying to order something because I don't really have anything in the house right now, but as someone on a fixed income $48 is a lot for me to lose EDIT: CURRY EXPRESS IS LYING SCUM. They just replied to this review (ceoss-posting here on Yelp from Google) at 3am claiming that they have no order from me, nor any order including tea. They also said that GrubHub handles delivery through their app, which is NOT the case for Curry express. They also completely ignored the fact that THEIR DRIVER ENTERED MY HOME. As in they came in through my porch, through my hallway, and into my living space, which is absolutely NOT OKAY. Very satisfying food and great service. I got the lamb momos (very meaty big dumplings!) and lamb korma (creamy, nutty curry). I was afraid it would be too much lamb but the flavors of each were different and delicious. The garlic naan was just how I like it: soft and thick (even the thinner parts were nicely doughy; I don't like when it's crispy and very thin). The food being brought to life under this roof restored my faith that conflicts in the Middle East will end. Curry express is the best thing to happen to between America and the Middle East sin. Every time I am in Somerville, where I grew up as a young girl, I don't the opportunity to get takeout from Curry Express. It is a reminder of home, our beautiful Nepal, where there is flavor in every bite. There is an abundance of options for veg and nonveg food, and they are so timely with the service! The dai's and uncles who run this business understand that people who order are most likely to order it to go since there are only a few booths! He brought us our items in order and even made sure to check in and ask us how it was. It's a very cute hole in the wall type of restaurant and the flavors and food were AMAZING! If you order on their website directly you can also get $3 off. We ordered: 1.) Chicken Biriyani - 5 stars This was definitely the best dish to order here!! The rice and chicken tasted so fresh. 2.) Saag Paneer - 4 stars 3.) Green Chili Chicken - 4 stars. I was expecting a green colored curry but this one tasted more like chicken tikka masala with green chilies. I wasn't complaining. Not the best Indian food I've had but certainly not the worst. Ordered the chicken tikka masala, mild, with a side of naan. It was good but just a little too sweet and I think too tomato-y for my liking. The naan was good though and they gave us some free dipping sauces and a little bit of rice pudding, Yum! We love Curry Express. The food is cooked to order and arrives hot and perfectly packed - no leaks, all labeled. We always order about 6 entrees to share family style and various breads. They gave us a small Kheer pudding and some papadums for our large order. How nice! Every item has its own spices and tastes different as they should. The delivery is perfect as well with a very polite driver who calls you to tell you he will be coming onto your porch. Look forward to our next order. Great food! read more

Spicy, tasty, convenient. I'm quite excited about Curry Express opening in Highland. It's a great take-out option for dinner on a weeknight or for a stay-in weekend. For such a small place their menu is quite extensive. They have curries, momo, biryani, and even roll-ups and wings. I enjoyed their saag paneer. I ordered it medium level spicy and unlike most places they actually meant it. The chicken momo were not bad. The indian spiced chicken wings were really good: extremely juicy and nicely seasoned. The pasty on the samosas were crispy, but they could have had more flaky-ness, but still not too bad overall. The staff has been friendly and my orders have only taken about 10 min. Not only is this the best Indian food I've had in Somerville or Cambridge, the experience and kindness of the employees/owners was such a treat. We had paneer vindaloo, malai kofta, naan, veggie pakora, and mango lassis. The price was amazing as was the quality of the food, far more flavorful than it's more expensive competitors in the area. The sauce on the kofta was incredible, especially paired with the fluffy yet crispy naan. I'm so excited to see such a great and passionate team open this new spot, everything on the menu sounds amazing and I look forward to trying it all. Whether it's the creamy saag, the fragrant madras or (my personal favorite) the rich, tomatoey tikka masala, Curry Express has THE best Indian curry sauces that I have tasted in years. I have been to a Michelin star Indian Rooh in SF and everything at Curry express tasted better! The food is amazing and is what I would expect home made to taste like. Every dish had distinct flavors, and for all of them there was no greasy layer like in most take outs. We had chicken tiki masala- the tomato based sauce was incredibly tasty and creamy with no greasy trace. Chicken was tender, spice level was just right at medium. Highly recommend. I can drink the sauce from a cup! Goat curry was very flavorful and also not greasy, the goat meat was plenty and had a bite to it. The chickpeas dish was amazing and my favorite. The chicken tandoori meat was juicy and flavorful but I have never had vegetables to tasty on a tandoori- onion, peppers and broccoli! I will ask for extra next time. Can't wait to try other dishes. I don't think we left enough tip! Extremely tasty. The crew was super friendly when we picked up. We would love to sit down in the small space, the smells coming from the kitchen were delicious! Ordered food for delivery from this place for the first time and what they sent was frozen rotis and the curry which was stale. When called to ask why frozen rotis, the response was " Cause we don't have pans to make fresh roti". I would want to know, Why do you have it in your menu then????? I can't speak to the dining room/sit down experience but their takeout is great (we order delivery via DoorDash or GrubHub). Our usual order is the naan, Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala but their Korma is tasty as well. Overall they are a really solid option, generous portions and reasonably priced. read more

So, I just ate here tonight. I live right across the street from it and figured I'd give it a few months before I tried it out. I had the shrimp appetizer (spicy), chicken tikka masala (medium spice) and the chicken Momo. All were very good. I love Indian food and I've tried a lot of places around here and I've got to say this is right up there with the best of them. Masala sauce was creamy and flavorful, the shrimp were fresh and very spicy as I like them, and the chicken Momo were really good too. We just tried Curry Express for the first time last night. Wow. This was the best vindaloo I've ever had - fresh, vibrant, individual spices coming through, most notably freshly ground clove. Nice spice, just enough to make you pause for cool downs (we chose the spiciest). Came with some nice papadums and onion relish. Basmati included. We also tried their madras chicken wings which were big and nicely spiced. Their aloo naan also great, loaded with potato and peas. Prices very reasonable. Can't wait to try more. read more

The other day, I accidentally ordered spicy, which is something my baby mouth can't handle at all. I didn't know what to expect ordering from here because it's not that popular but I have to say I'm definitely happy I tried it out. I ordered the vegetable samosas and chicken saag with a small kheer. The samosas were pretty good. A little too salty but it didn't take away from the other flavor. The chicken saag was very satisfying. The portion was pretty big so I was able to eat half for lunch and half for dinner. There was alot of chicken and it was nice and tender. There was a good sized portion of rice that came with it so it was definitely worth the prize. The kheer was smaller than I realized, but it was cheap so I didn't mind. The flavor was great too. This place just opened near us and we decided to give it a try yesterday. They have a huge selection which I feel can go either way...but this place did not disappoint! The service was pretty fast considering we just walked in on a whim and waited for our take out order. The food came to be about $30, my partner had the non-veg tiffin box and I had the green chili chicken. This is pretty standard pricing for the area for take out places. They threw in free chutneys that tasted pretty fresh (tamarind chutney not too thin) and a tasty what seemed like a house made pickle. They also gave us a nice quarter cup of kheer for free which was very tasty! It was like opening up your brown bag lunch to find out mom gave you a treat for a surprise. I like that they had a few tables to sit at which isn't the case for some take out areas nearby. I asked about the music which didn't seem to be on at the time and the man at the front said that they were waiting approval for the music. hah! Good ol' New Englander prudish traditions... They had some cute colorful murals that looked new on the walls. The guy at the front also said they had another location in Maynard. The chicken in my dish was tender and white meat which the guy at the front said, they have for everything which is great for me since I'm trying to watch my health! The chicken keema and tandoor was all out which we desperately wanted to try. Apparently the keema is very popular so we gotta come back for it. My partner's dish was the tiffin box and he said the vegetable one had less flavor than the chicken one which, after sampling his sauce, I can agree. That being said, I'm not sad to have it for leftovers today. The roti we ordered was just okay. Tasted a bit too much like tortillas for us, but I'll give them a try sometime when I can eat inside. Freshly made and eaten makes a big difference when it comes to breads. Anyways, was grateful also that they gave us two for each order. Again.. did I mention I love leftovers? Rice was also coming with the order which is becoming less and less than standard with take out places so I'm grateful. Overall, a great start for this business.
