    Lamb Kati Roll

Damn it. Kati rolls are so amazing, it sort of blew my mind when I had it. It definitely turned into one my most favorite things. It did remind me of the Indian style burrito that I had in Cali, but this one was a bit different as it was smaller and it was made with an egg cooked with the tortilla. Anyways, Mint Indian Eatery was a place I saw that was within the hotel shuttle distance so I decided that we should check this place out since we were in the area. And it did not disappoint. When we got here, there were only like 6 or 8 tables there and that was it. It was a take out spot, as you can also order through GrubHub. But, coming here was an experience in itself because we got to talk to the owner and he got to explain what momos were as well. It was different and sort of nice. Now to the food. You already know what I had. I had two, yes two, kati rolls. One was chicken tikki masala and one was lamb. To top it off, we decided to order momo's. Now I have to say, even though i'm very biased when it comes to it, soup dumplings (xiao long baos) reign supreme. But, this isn't too bad... I believe that there was too much breading, but that's just me. That was one of the big differences between the two, one has soup, one doesnt. The momos didn't have any soup to it, and to me the soup dumpling just gives you that extra that blows it out of the water. So is it worth it? Hell yes. We actually ordered as a take out the next week or the same week, as there was snow and we didn't want to go anywhere. I didn't feel like driving and we didn't want to deal with the cold. If you're in the area, and you want to try some quick Indian food, this place is your spot. If you want it delivered, the experience isn't quite the same, I highly recommend to eat at the restaurant over the delivery.

I am in love with this place. Very simple and nice ambiance. Good service. Anything I've ever tried has been good. To top it all prices are very reasonable. Must try their Papri chaat, momos and combo platter. Enough servings to share especially combo platters.

After passing by the storefront right off Powderhouse many times, we finally found the time (and hunger) to pop in and see what Mint is about. I have to admit I was curious: with all of the flavorful and exotic herbs & spices in this type of cooking, why call an Indian/Nepalese restaurant Mint? The space was empty around 5:30pm on a Sunday, but a steady stream of people came in to pick up orders, so it seems like more of a take-out place. But I encourage you to sit and stay a while. There are a few tables as well as window stools, some cute decor, and the best part: free milky masala tea! A large thermos, small cups, and sugar are waiting in the window, ready for you to pour yourself a cup and relax. That's reason enough for me. I'm horrible at making decisions, so I asked the girl behind the counter for her recs, and she said the thali and the momos were most popular. When I followed up by asking which dishes exactly, she didn't seem to understand the question (or just didn't want to play favorites). So we just picked what sounded tasty and hoped for the best. We got a thali with channa masala & crispy spicy chicken, which includes basmati rice in the tray and a side of daal (spicy lentil soup). We also ordered the curry chicken kati roll to share. The thali had great flavor, not lacking in spice but not overpowering, and a good value for the amount of food. But what blew me away was the kati roll. The flavors of the chicken, veggies, thin layer of egg, and mint chutney mixed in a way I had never experienced. And there was the answer to my initial curiosity: MINT CHUTNEY. It was otherworldly, and I had to try my hardest not to inhale the entire roll. You can order a variety of of the entree options as a roll, so hang tight as I work my way through the minty menu...

Adding our review after our second visit here. The restaurant is small but there has always been seating available. The good: Definitely recommend getting the chatt (appetizers)! The samosa Chatt is our favorite and the best in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville. The samosa isn't overly greasy and the tamarind sauce is good. The okay: the kati roll was interesting as it's a paratha roll with egg. If you aren't a fan of raw onions, maybe ask for them on the side. The Thali plate was ok, we tires the saag paneer and the chana masala. The plate comes with a lentil soup which was really greasy and not our favorite.

Combo dish: chili chicken and lamb curry.

Mint Indian Eatery is a small, simple and inexpensive Indian restaurant. Came here Sunday for lunch, was surprised just how small and empty the restaurant was but impressed with the cleanliness and simplicity. Ordered the combo with lamb curry and chicken chili with rice and a side of dal (complimentary). Could have added the Samosa for $2.00 but I was not interested. The lamb was great! Tender good size chunks of soft lamb, honestly surprised by the amount of lamb. The chicken chili was something I'd never had before so can't compare but thought it was rather salty for my taste with a hint of sweet and spicy. The red peppers were good, the chicken was coated with something I couldn't identify, possibly chickpea flour or wheat flour. I didn't ask if it was gluten free. My fault. Wouldn't order it again. Over all for $13.00 I was happy the lamb curry, would definitely get it. There are a lot more options to choose from next time. The staff person who took my order was super nice and worried when I asked about spice level, nice to know you can adjust the levels. Next time I'd personally increase the spice. Large portions, good food and nice staff. Can't ask for more!

That being said, the place was packed after 7 so consider what time you're coming when trying to walk in without a reservation. The entrance is up the stairs and as soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with a great view of Winthrop Park and the surrounding area. We were promptly seated and the lively wait staff came and took our drink order shortly thereafter. We started with the complimentary papadum and chutneys and our appetizer order of hara bhara kebab which was a nice vegetarian fritter. For our entrees, we got the baingan bhartan, chicken tikka masala (dairy free one), yellow daal tadka, tandoori roti, onion kulcha, and paneera bharura. The breads were all fantastic and I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala (dairy free made with coconut milk) just to see how it was different from a standard chicken tikka masala. For dessert, we got the gajar halwa (which was awesome!) and kulfi. Overall, I'm glad to have finally tried this place and may revisit it again in the future. Worth considering if you're in the area.

Our server was incredibly attentive and would always make sure to follow up and that everything is good. There was a plate that we had that had a stain on it. Our server noticed immediately and swapped out the plate without us having to tell him. He refilled our waters as soon as he saw that our glasses were empty. Compared to the first time that I was here, I think the service remains excellent and unchanged. The quality of the food was amazing. Overall, the dishes were delicious. I enjoy the blend of spices and flavors that you could taste within the food. In terms of food quality, this is easily becoming my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. I appreciate the restaurant location and internal setup. The restaurant is nestled near Harvard Square on the second floor with a nice view to the local neighborhood around Cambridge. There were many tables by the window so customers could enjoy the ambience. Overall, would recommend. If I find myself returning to Boston, I will definitely make time to stop by again.

Indian is one of my favorites and this was a fairly short drive from our hotel in Waltham. We made a reservation but that did not seem to be at all necessary. This was a great spot and added to our experience. The service was very good. We were attended to quickly and well cared for throughout our time there. The food came out in a timely manner well presented at the appropriate temperature. My colleague opted for the Creamy Coconut Chicken. I tried a bite of this and was favorably impressed. In addition, he had a Mango Lassi to which he also gave a thumbs-up. I had the Fish Curry, which I ordered at a medium level in terms of spice. It was very tasty as it had just the right amount of kick. He ordered the Garlic Naan to accompany his meal while I had my favorite type of Indian bread (my favorite type of bread period, really) Peshwari Naan. We were both happy with these choices. I also had a glass of cabernet which turned out to be a decent choice. Our final bill that included food, drinks, tax and tip was $86. At $43 per person in this inflationary time, I was happy enough with the value given the quality of the fare and the overall experience. I would be happy to make a return visit.

We walked into a warm, inviting space where the attentive service set a good tone from the start, making the experience feel welcoming without being overbearing. The butter chicken is the dish to anchor an order around, and it delivered in the way a good butter chicken should. Rich and creamy with a sauce that has enough depth to feel like it was built properly rather than assembled quickly, the flavor was full and warming without leaning too sweet. It paired naturally with the garlic naan, which arrived soft and slightly charred, making it the right vehicle for working through the sauce. The mango lassi is worth ordering alongside, sweet and thick without being cloying, with the mango flavor coming through clearly rather than getting lost in the yogurt base. Beyond those, the biryani and the Kerala fish curry have both built strong followings among regulars, and the samosa chaat and paneer chilli are worth exploring as starters if you want to build out a fuller meal. The food does not always hit the transcendent high that the best Indian cooking can reach, but it is consistently well executed and satisfying in a way that makes it a reliable choice in a city where good Indian food can be surprisingly hard to find. Service remained attentive throughout the meal, with staff checking in at the right moments and keeping water filled without being intrusive.
