Recently tried this family-run restaurant for takeout because the space is quite small with limited seating. It was delicious!! My favorite dish is the pork steamed momos with spicy sauce, the skin is nice and thin, meat is well seasoned, and the sauce is so good I could drink it. Everything I ordered was reasonably priced and flavorful. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Aama Lama is a great new spot in the Malden area! This new restaurant has some great Nepali dishes and I'm glad we stopped by to check it out. When you walk in there's a few tables in the cutely decorated space. I would definitely recommend calling ahead if you plan to go in person just in case or ordering takeout. The menu has a lot of great options including some delicious drinks. We tried the limeade, momos, matar paneer and vegetable thaali. All the dishes were super freshly made and flavorful. I highly recommend checking them out!

Came here on a Sunday around 1 PM to grab lunch with a friend. Aama Lama is a lovely little family owned Nepali restaurant. There are about three or four sit down tables for two and four high top seats against the wall. It was pretty busy with no availability at a table so we grabbed the high top seats. This was fine for the most part, but we ended up just standing instead of using the stools and definitely found that there wasn't a lot of countertop space for the amount of food we ordered. We ordered the pork sukuti, chicken chili, steamed pork momos, chicken choila, and the goat thali. The sukuti, chicken chili, and choila were all lovely. They had great spice and flavor to them. The momos were succulent and the sauce (achar) that came with it was great! I think in the future I'd pass on the goat thali and try something else: I thought it was interesting, but the flavors were very muted when compared to the other dishes. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back to try a few more menu items that caught my eye. I'd say if you're in the area then it's worth giving this place a shot since they have some crowd pleaser dishes as well as very authentic Nepali dishes! Try and get a reservation beforehand if you'd like a sit down experience too.

I was so impressed with the attentive and friendly staff, flavorful food and overall pleasant dining experience! The staff is really knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to menu questions as well as allergen information (I have celiac and my server knew which items would be exposed to cross contamination in cooking). The food was delicious and so yummy and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful, clean, and welcoming!

This is a very easy recommendation! Staff is warm and friendly, restaurant is cozy and cute, and the food is excellent. Great depth of flavor, made with a lot of passion and attention to detail. Everett/Malden have a disproportionate amount of Nepali restaurants and this place stands out among the pack. I'm genuinely looking forward to coming back. My only note is that the standard level of spice is quite mild. If you ask the server, they're more than happy to increase the heat to your taste.

I finally got the chance to try this place since it opened! It's a small cozy restaurant serving tasty Nepali dishes! It's a great place for a date night and also for take out! The staff were also nice and welcoming! I tried a variety of their items on the menu and my favorite will have to be the Momos'! They are delicious and juicy dumplings! Their other dishes that I've tried were also yummy! I also love the mango lassi and tiramisu! I definitely recommend checking this place out and I would definitely come back here!

I decided to give this hot new restaurant a try because I was craving something different--and let me tell you, I'm glad I did. It's a small Nepalese spot, but don't let its size fool you. The food here packs a serious flavor punch, only made better by the kind and accommodating staff. I jumped right into the food with their sweet and tangy chicken chili. It's marked as spicy, but I found it to be pretty mild. Still, it was incredibly flavorful and delicious. The sauce was killer--perfect for scooping up with the garlic naan, which came in a generous portion, or for smothering over the rice that comes with the entrée. I also ordered the fried momos (you can get them steamed too), and they were filled with super flavorful, juicy pork. Everything was on point. And I cannot forget to mention... THE BANANA PUDDING! WOW. This was the surprise of the night. I wasn't even planning on getting dessert, but figured I'd ask just in case something caught my attention. Most of their desserts are made in-house, including the bread pudding. The waitress recommended it, so I thought--why not? Man, I'm glad I didn't pass on it. I absolutely loved it. If you could take bread pudding and turn it into a cool, creamy banana pudding, this is what you'd get. It almost looked like ice cream, but it was this smooth banana cream with what seemed like soft, broken-down cake, bits of caramelized banana, all topped with a crispy wafer. Such a perfect way to end an amazing meal. I will definitely be back. Don't sleep on this new spot right in downtown Malden. You've been informed!

What a great new spot for Nepali food! I dined in and had the Wai Wai Sadeko, which was packed with flavor and I enjoyed the crunchy texture from the noodles. I also ordered the steamed pork momos, chili chicken, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan to go. The momos were juicy, the chili chicken had a great balance of spice, and the chicken tikka masala was rich and well-seasoned. The garlic naan was soft, warm, and perfect for soaking up the sauce. The restaurant has a nice, warm, cozy ambiance, and you can really tell the food is cooked with care. It has that authentic, home-style "mom cooking" taste that makes it extra special. The staffs were friendly and attentive. Definitely worth checking out.

This restaurant is very cute & cozy. Family run with great service. I highly recommend the Momo, Matar Paneer and Wai Wai Sadeko!! The menu is also vegetarian friendly. Would definitely come back whenever I have the chance.

My friends and I walked by this restaurant and were excited to try it out. All the foods we ordered were flavorful and filling. The restaurant recently had their soft opening and offered us a side of egg rolls to try. The employees and servers were kind and attentive, checking on everything and what else we needed. We are definitely planning to come back again in the future!

    Chicken Momo

I been meaning to try this new spot over the weekend but the storm delayed it until today. I ordered the chicken momo's and the chicken chilli. The chicken chilli was very good but the chicken momo's were one of the BEST I've had. I was able to talk to the owners as well and they were super nice. Small mom-and-pops feel to it. Will definitely be coming back.

Everything was sooo good! Service was great and ambiance was cute and cozy, BUT THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!! I dont see much Nepali food around me, and this was such a gem! It was like a warm, comfy, quality homecooked meal. So good, Ill be driving to Malden from South Shore more often!

Stand-outs were the samosa chat and palak paneer! Great flavor and right amount of spice. When I ordered via GrubHub, there wasn't the option to indicate spice level, but all of the dishes were spiced perfectly - a nice hit without being overpowering. The chicken tikka (a dish we usually love) was actually the one we liked least of the bunch since we found the sauce a bit watery. The lamb in the punjabi dish was so tender and tasted great. The garlic naan was nicely charred and what we expected to receive. Our GrubHub order was delivered piping hot 30 minutes before our delivery time. Indian is one of my favorites and this was a fairly short drive from our hotel in Waltham. We made a reservation but that did not seem to be at all necessary. It was a Monday night and it was not particularly busy. We were seated right away. They featured a very pleasant dining room and we were able to secure a table by the front window. This was a great spot and added to our experience. The service was very good. We were attended to quickly and well cared for throughout our time there. The food came out in a timely manner well presented at the appropriate temperature. My colleague opted for the Creamy Coconut Chicken. I tried a bite of this and was favorably impressed. In addition, he had a Mango Lassi to which he also gave a thumbs-up. I had the Fish Curry, which I ordered at a medium level in terms of spice. It was very tasty as it had just the right amount of kick. He ordered the Garlic Naan to accompany his meal while I had my favorite type of Indian bread (my favorite type of bread period, really) Peshwari Naan. We were both happy with these choices. I also had a glass of cabernet which turned out to be a decent choice. Our final bill that included food, drinks, tax and tip was $86. At $43 per person in this inflationary time, I was happy enough with the value given the quality of the fare and the overall experience. I would be happy to make a return visit.

It came to mind when I was craving Indian food this evening and surpassed my expectations. It was quiet inside, so very easy to hold a conversation. Not overwhelming or overstimulating the way most restaurants are typically. I felt I needed to try something other than my typical tikka masala, and the waitress recommended the lamb curry. It came with a generous portion of rice, and we also ordered naan. The naan came out warm and flavorful, and my lamb was sweet, spicy, and delicious. I filled up on rice simply so I could have some lamb left to take home. Otherwise, I would have polished it off very quickly. The water is not iced, which was perfectly fine, as I prefer my water to not be overly chilled. I ordered a mango lassi to finish off my meal and it had a rich mango taste, though was thinner than most lassis I have had. This is neither a positive nor a negative; and in fact, I did manage to drink it all without procuring a stomach ache. So that is a win. Our waitress was attentive, though perhaps not friendly.
