This place has lots of seasonal fun and creative menu items. Good: They play Christmas movies during Christmas time. I really enjoy that. I wish they did that for other holidays. I wish I had taken my photo before I dug in to this huge stack of cherry cobbler pancakes! Giant pancakes with cherry pie filling are then topped with a scoop of homemade cobbler. I asked for the whipped cream and glaze drizzle on the side and they were so accommodating! I also have to say that someone in my party had allergies and it was the best experience I have had navigating this at a restaurant. The manager came out to speak to us and was kind and really took the time to understand the allergy. Tim was fantastic--he definitely knew what he was doing and was thorough in asking questions and explaining food preparation. Popped in on a Wednesday evening around 7:15 ish and only one other table so I got to choose where I sat. Sofia was wonderful as I ordered the mushroom burger but with the smash patties 2 4 oz patties vs regular one 8 oz. Came with fries. Wednesday is Wicked Wing Wednesday where if you order a burger or a beer you get 6 piece wings complimentary! What a deal. The burger wasn't seasoned as well as I would have thought and was quite bland, had to add ketchup to help it out. The fries seemed like maybe the oil isn't hot enough as they were clumped together and were very soft in the middle (length wise, not the center of the fry) I only ate the smaller extra crispy ones. When you're in the mood for brunch in Waltham, everyone definitely thinks of In A Pickle. I must say, their staff are undoubtedly some of the nicest staff around! They're always so sociable & kind. In terms of food, their menu is vast to say the least. They have a ton of options from basic items like eggs & toast to oreo loaded pancakes. In A Pickle's portions are also VERY generous. Honestly, I think their greatest strength is definitely their pancakes. Those were some of the fluffiest & most perfect bluberry pancakes ever! From the outside, it seems like a very cool concept. Kind of a fun brunch place that might have alot of pickle themed items. It's not really even that. Hands down some of the best service ever. It was 3 women working and they were all on point. 5 stars for service. Beyond that, it reminded of when Friendlys (the chain restaurant) was heading in the wrong direction. The food seems very generic like it was ordered from the supplier and just prepared as is without any flare or personal touch. From the outside it seems like it might be some trendy brunch spot with creative menu items and lots of pickle influences. Don't get me wrong, the prices are very good. That's a huge plus. Ordered the southwest chicken wrap because it had a green square which seemed to be the indication for the recommended favorites. Fries were not fresh and i left the plate of them. The wrap itself was one I might get from a cafeteria style place. The coleslaw was superb though. 5 stars for the slaw. They serve the breakfast menu even at night which is a big plus. And as I said, the prices are very good. I fully expected to see something like spicy fried pickle chips on the menu, but no dice. The dinner menu is mainly sandwich based with some burgers and salad options. I wanted to give the 5 stars because the staff was so awesome. The food just isn't something I would return for at night when I want dinner. Breakfast seems to be highlight here. Came here this morning for breakfast. I ordered a breakfast burrito and in the instructions it stated that I can add phone fries for $4 if I wanted to. I decided to order French fries instead. Then I got my meal and It came with both home fries and French fries. I explained to them that I never asked for home fries but I decided to keep them and return the French fries and til the waiter to please take them off the bill. Then he came back and with the check after and a box of cold fries that he kept and stated that the manager said he can't take them off the bill and made us pay for fries that were removed from our table and we didn't even eat. The food was decent at best nothing special about it... but I'm giving 1 star for refusing to remove an order of fries from the bill. Ridiculous. read more

In a pickle restaurant is a fine establishment. I have been there a few times now. Now I can say with reasonable confidence that you should go there too. In this post I will focus on their breakfast specials where the price for two special breakfasts is ~$11! This is a steal in this economy! You will have to get there before 9 am on weekends though. They have the same specials on the weekdays too. The breakfasts we had had rye toast, three eggs done your style, home fries, and a protein of your choice (bacon, sausages, ham). The home fries were well seasoned and had a good amount of crispy bits in them. We had an extra side of pancakes. They were hefty and fluffy and the same time. A great find in Waltham. The menu is so vast the hardest part is choosing what to eat! I was rushing the family to get out of the hotel on a Saturday morning and get here before it got too busy. I checked the waitlist and it said no waiting so we were able to get a table quickly. Jenna did a great job of taking care of us. The coffee is nice and strong. I enjoyed the Moody omelette. It was fresh without being too filling. Great roasted potatoes and I have cinnamon raisin toast for the first time in many years. My wife and daughter split the Ringer. So much food! I don't know why this restaurant is rated so highly. I live nearby and decided to try it for my favorite breakfast meal which I hate to prepare for myself: french toast and bacon. The bacon was perfect. Crisp without fat slobbered over it. But the main attraction - french toast - was made from so-so bread and I said "no sugar" but of course there was sugar. The tea was Lipton's decaffeinated black tea which is poorly processed. Screaming kids. Terrible acoustics. Can't hear oneself think. All this for $19. The waiter held out an auto check and expected an 18% or higher tip. Geez. Not that great service because the customer did not want sugar. I will make my own breakfast. They are doing a Halloween something or other which does not sound like fun but a scan will capture info and that will suck. read more

I was treated like I shouldn't be allowed in public due to an allergy. They demanded that I tell them the symptoms of my reaction to the food I'm allergic to and told me they did not know the ingredients of their sour dough bread. Extremely sad! I had gone to In A Pickle often. Loved the food. Bragged to my group of friends that I was taking them to somewhere they'd love. One friend has severe nut allergies. The chef basically sent someone out to say that the restaurant does not and will not operate to take precautions and we would be better off to leave. I guess on the 3 possibilities of a friend's death, having us leave or using a clean pan to cook eggs... I literally ate less than a third of it and was stuffed. The sausage, eggs, and hash browns were solid, but the pancakes were beyond belief. Absolutely overwhelming in size and flavor. What put this restaurant over the top was the quality of service and attention to detail. They made a mistake with our ticket and our meal was delayed. The manager came over unprompted and comped our entire meal. We tried to decline his generous offer, because the mistake really wasn't that bad, but he insisted. Good breakfast spot with a large menu. The specialty pancakes and French toast appear to be what they are most known for. I got the ringer with caramel crunch French toast. It came with 2 eggs, meat, homefries, and a full order of French toast. It costed extra to upgrade to a specialty so it ended up being over $25 which I thought was expensive but it was a lot of food and everything tasted good so it was worth it. I was especially impressed by how fast the kitchen was. The restaurant was filled with a 30 min wait and the food came out in probably under 5 minutes. I ordered the Steak & Egg breakfast platter, homemade fries, and toast. Along with their pumpkin spice waffles. Truly a home run with the steak and eggs. A big miss with the pumpkin spice; it's gorgeous to look at but it's really spongy, and mine was burnt pretty bad. As far as the restaurant it's crowded and cramped unless you're in a booth. As I've shared before the restaurant has long wait times so you'd be waiting for an incredibly long time if you wait in doors. They have a great informing system where it will let you know how long your wait is and how many parties are ahead of you. The challenge is that since there a bunch of people waiting you can feel the impatience of people around you. People were pretty rude when walking through the crowds of people. I wish I had a recommendation to the restaurant, but you can tell the staff is trying their best to navigate.
