Had a nice breakfast here this morning. As a decaf coffee drinker it is always really nice to have fresh brewed decaf--and it was really delicious! I had an omelette with the fried breakfast potatoes. My partner had a 1/2 order of French toast, poached eggs (ordered soft), and grits. the soft poached eggs were perfect! My picture doesn't do this place justice!! Ordered takeout for lunch and the sandwiches and salads were a hit! I have to say the first thing you notice is the size of these subs is awesome. They are loaded with the meat and toppings on a nice fresh bread. The flavor on the Italian and specialty turkey sandwich was amazing. These folks are a terrific, hard working, group of folks. Jose Yurrita, the operations manager for the larger plantings (Rt. 2), couldn't be more helpful - when I didn't like the color of some shrubs we had delivered he put me on FaceTime, we picked out better colors, and he hopped in his truck to deliver them while his crew was still here digging the holes - all during rush hour traffic. Now THAT'S what I call top line service! The shrubs are beautifully healthy and the two large trees we had them plant also look great. Super experience and really polite and friendly crew. Our first trip to this store - wow!!! Produce hasn't been great in our usual grocery stores. We needed some fresh fruits and veggies, but also hoped to pick up meal fixings. Haven't tried it all yet, but must say, we got a lot for our money, more than we expected. We've gone to bigger farm stores, but this place offers a lot more than you might think. Fresh local meat and chicken, their beloved deli, and a bakery on top of all the fresh farm offerings. Darn pleased and plan to return. Very nice staff too. read more

Stopped by to check out their nursery when I noticed the small deli/grocery store inside. It reminds me of the barns that peddle produce from pick-your-own orchards. They have a good selection of fruits and dried goods but their sandwiches are pretty average. I've had the Tuscan ($8.99) which was essentially a caprese sandwich with prosciutto and roasted red peppers, as well as the Sicilian ($7.99) which had some Italian meats, provolone, and roasted red peppers. Both sandwiches were good, but forgettable. I would stick with the fresh produce and gorgeous plants and flowers. read more

This review is for the the Wagon Wheel Whole Italian. For $20 it is both a gem and bargain. It is essentially 4 sandwiches for average male eater, and loaded with meats, cheeses, marinated veggies (good dose of vinegar and herb flavors), worth a try if you like an artisan quality sandwich at a bargain price. They pack it in a loaf of bread cut in fourths. I'm a good size guy and I feel well served by a quarter of it at a time. I'm not usually an Italian sub buyer either, but this is one I will fit in every now and then if I'm in the neighborhood. I haven't been in there enough to sample a lot of their goods, but they seem to deal in quality in there, and I know many others say some good things about it. But I'll vouch for the Italian, I've had it twice and it was a good explosion of flavor in the mouth, not for the wimpy pallets. I just finished the last quarter as I write this, and my mouth is warm from a few hots (they did ask, I said a few and it was perfect), and feeling satisfyingly and fully accosted by the savory meats, salty cheeses, and vinegar and herb laden veg. It's a foodie sandwich (and I hate myself for even saying that. . . . . Wait, I really hate myself for saying that tripe). Today, 7/22/24, I spoke with a women (I did not get her name) representative at Wagon Wheel. Her knowledge of the process, material, trucking, type of sod, ideal mix of soil/compost used when installing sod is phenomenal . After reading many past negative reviewers I was hesitant to call Wagon Wheel to order the sod and other material needed. After speaking to that women Wagon Wheel I was pleasantly relieved surprised at the quality of service. If you don't know about this hidden gem in the Lexington Waltham area, then you're missing out for a great lunchtime sandwich and salad spot. The staff is super friendly and I've been coming here for years but recently needed to cater a corporate luncheon for a client. Thankfully, the team at the deli counter with the help of Jen was fantastic. Her, abundant knowledge and great ideas really help me build a perfect catered lunch for 12 people. The price quality and presentation was well above expectations and really listens to the level of professionalism that Jen's presented to me as the customer. 3 stars because I typically LOVE wagon wheel deli. However, tonight I called at 6:30pm and asked if the deli was still open. I was told on the phone that they were not open for phone orders but I could come in before 7:00pm and order in person. I got there at 6:40pm as I live close by and was told by the extremely rude deli man that he was "closed down" and it was "grab and go only." No apologies or anything, you can tell he didn't care. My mother loved this place so much. When I'm back over this way I always stop in if I need plants or fresh veggies. It's a small home & garden shop with a nice variety of garden plants, very limited cut flower selection. The young people working there are very friendly but a little clueless. I was in town from NYC to attend a friend's wedding. When the hotel could barely find the reservation and with the bartender clearly having their first day, I decided to head out and forage for food myself. After originally looking for chowder, I decided sandwich was the way to go. Boy was I happy to have scrolled down to the place selling mulch for my deli order. This place killed it!! I ordered a full wagon wheel and it came with a birth certificate (that's how much this thing weighed)! I also ordered a unique chicken parmigiana which was delicious and only slightly smaller than the full wagon wheel (different type of bread). My wife wanted something off menu; it was not as good but that was not their fault. She eats and makes lame sandwiches! The store has produce, bread, beverages, snacks, a the serious deli counter... lest we forget they are also well equipped for all your gardening needs too. I live right down the street in Waltham and it was such a pleasure to find this place, especially since it reminds me so much of a similar place, Tuttle's, in the town I grew up in in New Hampshire. Fresh produce, organic, all that good stuff- the kind of food I love and totally willing to pay extra for. it's not insanely expensive either and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. They had little bags of grapes that were the perfect size for a road trip snack, and they were pre-washed which was great. Their flower selection was fantastic too- after days of scouring random florists for a nice bouquet for my mom and being consistently disappointed, it was fantastic to find Wagon Wheel and their great, fresh selection. Their prices are fair for a small business. They also have a produce section, a small bakery section, lots of snacks- great for bringing back for meetings haha.
