Parking: street parking hard to come by, but there are garages and parking lots near by (part of the square) that offer free parking! Food: The rustic bread was warm, had a crunchy crust, and was soft and fluffy inside. The butter was softened and easy to spread. The salad had fresh greens, pretty standard salad with some sort of vinegar-based dressing The highlight of the steak frites for me was the frites. The fries are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and salted very well. The steak was pretty good, but didn't stand out to me as much as I thought it would. I didn't ask, but a second round of salad would've been cool too. They offered fresh cracked pepper for my salad. The steak was fine. It was very thinly sliced, and while this made the steak tender, I left feeling like I could've eaten more. The second round came by when we were about halfway through with the first round. While I appreciated that it was automatically sent out, I wish I could've made the request when I was ready. This made the meal feel rushed and sort of unsanitary; the new round was just slapped on top of the old one and I wondered how many other dishes the tongs had served before touching mine. It's the same logic as going to the buffet; you always get a fresh plate to minimize cross-contamination and having a second round come out on a different plate would've bumped up the experience for me and created a better sense of value (even with the same amount of food). They didn't offer fresh pepper for my steak, but I think that's the only other thing that would've bumped up the flavor for me. The sauce was good. It had a strong earthy, mushroom flavor and was nice for the steak but was also a great sauce for the fries too. I get why folks rave about the sauce. We ended up getting the carrot cake to finish and this was the best part of the meal (which is a little sad if they don't make it themselves). It was moist, had nuts and raisins, and came out as a nice hefty wedge. This guy needs to find a new profession. He looked miserable and I saw his interactions with other tables were just as bad. They might do well to fire this dude. Came here for Valentine's day 2026 and the restaurant overbooked/did not plan properly for the influx of people coming! Everyone had a reservation but we were still waiting in line in the cold to get seated. We waited about an hour before getting seated (even with a reservation). Then it took another 2 hours to finish our meal entirely because the kitchen was just overwhelmed and our orders kept getting skipped. There is only one type of steak to order which is the perfect casual steak-fries dish. Steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce was great. Fries were extra crispy (pomme allumette as we say in France for steak fries). You also get complimentary a second portion of steak and fries included which makes a great deal. Had the carrot cake which was really good and not sweet at all and huuuge. It's really to be split up among 2 people and take home half of it. It's that big. My family and I ate dinner at the Watertown, MA location tonight at around 5:30PM and the service was terrible. The whole restaurant was empty except for our table and one other table of 2 yet the server and manager were still completely inattentive. The staff seemed more focused on cleaning and preparing the kitchen for other things as they repeatedly were Saran plastic wrapping bread and the chefs were even cleaning the hood vent grates getting on top of the kitchen counters. The server did not refill our water until the end of the meal when we asked and disappeared the whole time to clean and tend to back of house stuff. Again the restaurant was empty so this was all just lack of care and disregard of us as customers. When we were ready for our second round we had to flag down the manager to get the food and she gave us a rude attitude said the kitchen will make it automatically. How would they make it if no one is around to see that we were ready for our food and sat with empty plates and drinks unattended? Lastly, the music was also blasting at max volume and no one could hear each other, completely opposite of what a family would want for dining. We were hoping to have our sons birthday party there and a gender reveal party but after this experience I'm not surprised that the venue was dead empty and won't be surprised if it closes down soon too. read more

He was so attentive and took care of all of needs. $.25 mimosas for a Sunday brunch are unheard of in NC where I live. And, they were good! The bread basket that arrived at the table set the tone for the indulgence ahead. That was some of the best tasting bread with a nice crust and soft center. Forget counting carbs at this spot. After bread, you can choose among fresh fruit, a salad and a parfait. I had the parfait without the dried fruit and it was really good. We went for brunch today to try their pre-fixe offerings. The restaurant is set up bistro style, casual vibes with small tables and chairs throughout and lots of natural light. The vibe was great this morning with 90's music pumping and smiling staff members about. We were shown to our table and we made our brunch selections - steak frites and poached eggs, French toast, and their 'famous' Benedict. The brunch menu comes with a starter (yogurt parfait, fruit cup, or salad) and they offer .25 cent mimosas, bloody Mary's, or screwdrivers. Our server brought over their warm French bread and butter while we were waiting for our main dishes to arrive. The French toast was buttery and crispy and the steak frites and poached eggs were good, my steak arrived at the perfect medium rare temperature , but the Benedict was weird - sort of like a mashed pot roast on top of toast, it was by far the least favorite dish of the table. The steak was thin but cooked just right and served with their delicious housemade peppercorn roux sauce--it was mighty fine! You get two generous helpings of steak, which is definitely a win! For dessert, they offer a Key Lime Pie and an Ice Cream Sundae . The ice cream sundae is HUGE--seriously, it could feed four people! It also comes with these unique chocolate balls that add a special touch. The Key Lime Pie was fresh and topped with just the right amount of whipped cream . We had been to the location in Bethesda, MD and were so excited to see they opened up in MA. We made reservations for Friday at 7pm. The bar was pretty busy, but the area where we were sat was not as busy. It took about 5 minutes for us to be greeted and about 7 more minutes before the water and wine was brought out to us. The bread was fresh and the salad was really tasty. Our first round came out pretty quickly and it was as good as we remembered and cooked perfectly. I finished both my water and wine, but our waiter never came by to check on us until after our second round of steak. He missed out on selling us another glass of wine. The fries were seasoned very well. We sat with our empty plates for 17 minutes (I started a timer) before our waiter even walked by us. Two managers even walked by with our empty plates and empty glasses and didn't even acknowledge us. We ordered the hot fudge sundae, which took quite a while to come to us, and much to our surprise, there was not hot fudge! There was caramel, which we aren't fans of. Could potentially be an allergy issue for others. Communication from our server would have been helpful. We didn't say anything because at that point we had been there for 90 minutes and needed to get home to our infant. We will go back, but not any time soon as the service was truly the worst we've experienced in a long time. Interesting place. On the surface it's just a restaurant. But they have just a "prix fix" (however it's spelt; a fixed price) single option. For that you get bread (awesome), salad (vinegar and oil dressing), and the main course which is steak with fries. The steak is cooked to order and cut into thin strips, then topped with their special sauce (sort of a thin gravy). Very unusual. Oh, and you get seconds on the steak and fries (this is crazy important to know!!!). My only minor complaint, which I think others have touched on, is that the sauce is a bit salty for my taste. If I go again I'll ask for the sauce on the side. The waitstaff was fantastic. Polite, proactive, and attentive. It wasn't too loud. I'd say a low murmur typical of most restaurants. I'll start with the good: food is filling. i left stuffed and was too full to get dessert. the quality of the food was alright, but for the price (you're essentially paying 40 dollars for a steak with a side of fries and a small salad), it left something to be desired. i could have a better steak that is just as filling for cheaper at texas roadhouse. ambiance wise, the place doesn't really seem to have itself figured out, the decor felt almost upscale, but the layout of the restaurant was so cramped i could have extended my arms and tapped the shoulders of the people at the tables next to me. i couldn't really hear my date over the blaring 80s music. it felt like a small cafeteria. the service was okay, no one was outright rude but our server never introduced herself or anything and we were bounced between a few different people. had to ask for the bread (which, considering it's presented as an element of the meal you're paying for and not a freebie to hold you over, i don't think you should have to ask for). a weird side note that compelled me to write a review in the first place- i went to the bathroom and the "music" playing was just a man's voice saying pickup lines in English and then in French. i have tried to figure out what this song is because it was so bizarre and nothing is coming up. thought it was a strange choice especially considering the place was chock-full of small children. You get two plates of the same steak and fries twice. The steak sauce is a nice peppercorn roux and the steak was cooked as desired, but maybe a little cooler than I had expected. The fries are nice and thin and well salted. The overall experience was fine. It did feel a little impersonal in that we finished the drinks, bread, salad, and first plate of steak frites within 24 minutes. He never gave us a menu so we could see the details of the dessert and he never at any point during the meal asked if anyone had an allergy. Well, the ice cream sundae I ordered showed up and while I'm eating it I bite into a walnut which I AM ALLERGIC too. I caught the waiter's attention and let him know the situation and he ran off "to talk to someone." He did not return to the table for a while. When he came back he offered to bring the bill and I asked him why he had run off and his response was "I don't know why but I ran off to see if we had an epipen." This was absolutely THE WORST possible response I've ever seen to a situation. Luckily my allergy is mild and I only spent the rest of the evening scratching itchy hives and groggy from Benadryl. It could have been much worse. I was SHOCKED that the waiter never offered to have the dessert remade without the allergen. They didn't offer to take it off the bill. He did NOTHING except freak out and run away. I wasn't able to consume the dessert I paid for which was really unfortunate. Luckily, my kids don't share my allergy and were able to enjoy it. This absolutely ruined what was an otherwise pleasant meal and birthday celebration. Not sure if I'll bother to give them a second chance. I like this place, but I should love it. My second time here, first time to actually get food. I had the steak and eggs. They came out without a flaw. Would recommend. The staff was fine. No one blew me away. I sat at the bar and there were things that weren't up to par in my opinion. The tv was off. It's NFL playoff weekend and they should have had the tv on one of the sports channels with cc. The bar was very lackluster. Not sure if the are limited on spirits, or only showcase the 6 I saw on top of the bar. I can see the staff had their coats and bags in plain sight behind the bar. I wanted another beer but he failed in asking me if I was done drinking at his empty bar. A bartender should always if the patron would like another. The dining room and decide were nice. I was curious about MR's prix fixe steak frites concept and was happy to have a reason to finally try it. We didn't need the reservation, as the restaurant was half-empty -- a bit of a red flag on a Saturday night! We liked the bread and salad (greens were nice and fresh, and the dressing was salty and tangy) but were underwhelmed with the limited/mediocre wine/cocktail menu and especially the steak itself. I ordered it medium rare, but it was more like true medium (I didn't want to bother sending it back). It was not a flavorful cut of meat (it even tasted slightly gamey), and the thin slices were overpowered by the thick peppercorn crust. Opening night (12/16/24) was excellent. The host/hostess were welcoming and friendly- asking guests how they heard about the place and if they were local, etc. The menu is simple- $34.95 for steak (cooked to order) plus yummy rustic bread, salad and shoestring French fries. Oh- and some amazing secret sauce on the steak. Nice selection of wines- I enjoyed a cab. I was about half finished with my (rare) steak and a server stopped by and filled my plate with more steak and fries (complimentary second serving is standard). I knew there would be the need for a to-go box. I eyed the desserts at the next table- huge slices of chocolate and carrot cake. When I finished my steak, I struck up a conversation with the couple at the next table. They also couldn't decide on dessert. They ordered the carrot cake and I ordered chocolate cake- we asked for a few extra plates and shared so we could all try both. Maybe a bit unusual to share desserts with another table but it worked for us and the servers were very accommodating. Both cakes were amazing. I loved the limited menu- it makes the entire experience efficient. I was impressed with how smoothly everything went despite new staff and it being day 1. Prix fixe steak frites (mushroom option available instead of meat). Went recently on a weekend and was really not impressed. The main issue is the cut of meat -- it is too thin. This is not itself a problem, but it means the margin for error is very narrow for doneness and texture. If your chef gets it just right, you'll likely have a great meal; if not, you'll be quite disappointed. However you normally order your meat, would recommend going down one level of doneness (normally like medium rare -- ask for rare). Sauce was just ok, didn't really do much for the meat, not sure if it can be requested on the side instead of already on the meat. Bread was good, ask for warm butter. Salad was sad and wilted. Fries were good! They give you two rounds but only stuck around for one. Didn't get dessert but seems like they might be huge and decent. The wine/drink selection was good, if only a bit limited.
