We just happened into this place. I've no idea how the business model works but we had a delightful meal in Watertown MA location. Salad, steak and fries, that's it, one low price. Period. But the salad was dressed nicely, fries crisp outside and flaky inside and the steak cooked to perfection with a nice French-like sauce. Just a great meal. We were excited to try this place after seeming so many social media posts boasting about the delicious steak and the second servings! Decided to go for brunch because we had a baby too. If you make a reservation, they do not actually reserve a table for you. We came on time for a reservation and the hostess said "sorry a bunch of people showed up right before you." I was speechless. Don't let people make a reservation if you don't reserve tables! She said there were people finishing up and it would be twenty minutes... we decided to wait and were given a table 45 minutes later. I asked what was going on and she said they couldn't make people leave even if they were done eating and not ordering anything additional. Actually, yes, you can! I asked when we sat if the entrees could be brought out quickly, the waiter said yes and they were brought 45 minutes later. This restaurant only serves one thing! I asked how long the second round would be and they said it would be quick and it was 35 minutes. Just tell the truth! Had a reservation for 12:30 pm Mothers Day brunch. We were there on time. Stood and waited until 1:20 pm to get our 4 top table. By 2:45 pm we STILL didn't have our meal served!! I went to Boston during Harvard's Parents weekend and took a chance on this steakhouse that has only one steak option besides the temperature it's cooked at, I was skeptical... BEST CHOICE ever! Not only was the atmosphere upscale but comfortable but the staff was Amazingly attentive! Andy(our server) was ON POINT, he was kind, engaging and energetic. It wasn't just him several other folks including a lady who I assumed was the manager kept checking on us and everyone made sure our drinks were refilled instantly. The meal started with a rustic freshly baked French bread, followed up with minutes by a light green salad. The portobello appetizer was at the table 3 minutes after ordering and the steak arrived within about 10 minutes after that. The portion wasn't a big as I expected... not small but medium.... But then Andy says seconds will be out in 10 minutes. My son and I were completely confused... did we mishear him... what is being refilled? Sure enough about 9 minutes later another chef approaches our table with another steak same size cooked the same way and fries! We had two identical portions, it was awesome and unexpected. Have I mentioned how reasonably priced it was? $34.95- no better way to spend a date, birthday or just a nice night out. My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight. Andy was our server and we had great service from him. Friendly and considerate the whole time. They have paper coverings for each table that allows customers to doodle which was a nice touch. Andy used ours to write his name as well as our order so that we didn't forget which I appreciated. Andy was well knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. He recommended the gold rush and lavender hibiscus cocktails that we both liked. Despite the menu being all set for Sunday Brunch when we got there at 1:30 PM, we ordered the "dinner" plate of steak and frites (basically a small piece of sliced steak, some thin fries and MR's "secret" sauce, including a second helping slightly smaller than the original one). They started us off with a decent green salad. The steak was cooked to the requested temperature but was on the tough side and not super flavorful. The secret sauce reminded me a bit of the Swedish meatballs at IKEA. Fries were a major disappointment, feeling "under-fried" (is that a thing?) meaning limp, non-crunchy. With the second helping, the portion becomes adequate but not overwhelming. We shared a layered chocolate cake for desert, which was huge and somewhat tasty. Service was friendly but very slow. I have heard quite a few things about Medium Rare so I was initially really excited they were opening in Arsenal. I did hear that it was unlimited steak frites, but when we got there it was only 2 plates of it (which I won't hold against them because maybe I just heard wrong). For having a simple menu of just steak frites, I did expect it to be a little better. Maybe they were just swamped with grand opening or something, but the steak felt like it was steamed rather than grilled which I thought made for an interesting texture. The service is kind of what made this a 3 star experience for me. The host at the front- AMAZING. Super friendly and greeted me when I got there and when I was leaving. She really carried the energy for everyone. Everything else felt like it was moving at 2mph. We got sat relatively quickly, but ended up sitting there for a good 15 minutes before the server came over (which they were pretty busy at the time, so I get it) BUT I did notice that even as tables were clearing and it was definitely dying down the from rush, the service honestly seemed to get slower too? In between our plates of steak frites, it was a solid 15 minutes before anyone noticed and offered the next round. It was a good 10-15 minutes in between each round of things we needed (second course, drinks, dessert, etc.) What really sent me was when we got dessert, I could physically see the piece of chocolate cake on the counter in the back and two separate servers told them they needed it, but the person back there was so slow in cutting it and getting it out. (This was already after the place kind of died down, so they were not too busy) Overall, I think it still is an OK place and maybe it was just the grand opening, new team type situation.... I am willing to try it again in a few months and hope they iron out all the random service issues. read more
