Hands down one of the best places in Boston. Jim's is iconic in the Brighton neighborhood and any time of day is great to stop by. The menu options seem almost limitless and they have a number of specials that rotate through. The portions are massive, especially dinner, that can often also serve as the next day's lunch. One of my favorites is their Buffalo Chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich is loaded and has just the right amount of sauce and blue cheese to chicken ratio. The counter style ordering, old school booths and friendly staff make it a smooth experience to dine-in. They also offer takeout. If you're in Brighton do not pass this place up. read more

Went out this last Saturday morning with a friend: we got the Brighton and Veggie omelettes with a couple black coffees and were able to keep the damage below $40. Friendly deli with old school vibe and a seriously extensive menu. Right by the BC campus. You get a lot of food for the price. Got a grilled cheese which went over big time with my five year old. For me, a Santa Fe wrap which was an average sandwich. Chicken Caesar wrap is what they are known for and we got two of those which went over well. I went on a Friday morning at 9:15am. Found a parking spot in front. You could smell the food from outside. Inside it reminds me of the school cafeteria but with delicious food. It was way busier than the photo I took just a few minutes later! Very diverse. People ordered a lot of different meals and they all looked delicious. You go in, grab a tray and silverware, they cook and pass you your food, you go to the end of the line where they have drinks to pick from, then you pay, then sit down. If you are looking for a dive on a Sunday morning you have found it. Your basic deli with a grill. Upon entering I took a tray and wondered if the tray had ever been washed. The tray felt greasy. I had the Jim's am burrito. I was not sure what I was going to get. It had this peculiar taste which I think was from the salsa. I would have to have it without to be certain. The choice on the burrito was ham, bacon, or sausage. I went with the ham because I thought it was the safest. The prices were reasonable which they should be. I can't imagine they spend any money on anything but payroll. There was no service to speak of since orders were placed at the counter. I was not impressed by the place. Stay away. read more

Today 10/4/24 First time trying this place. I asked for scrambled eggs and was given a fried egg? (It's printed on my receipt the request) So the staff didn't bother to read my request. I asked for extra crispy bacon also printed on receipt but not how I ordered it I got soft bacon. The French toast was good with the syrup. Not sure if I'm going to try this place again, if you can't get a simple order correct that a customer ordered and is printed on my receipt and the staff don't even take the time to check a request. A true gem in brighton! Great service and great place to pick up some good food for a reasonable price. Love the Rachael wrap and the Jim's style hot dog -- the flavors tied in so well and love the amount of bacon and meat in each. For the hot dog, I love how the bun held up well while carrying so much inside and that it doesn't break apart. I definitely want to come back to try some more of their options. But I was not a huge fan of their French toast -- I would not come back for this again, but would be open to see if their other breakfast options are tastier. read more

This was our second visit to Jim's. Both times the greeting was friendly and very welcoming. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by stacked rows of fresh eggs. Pretty much telling you we have great breakfast. The breakfast menu was large and creative. We both got the Jim's special wrap. 3 eggs peppers onions bacon and cheese. I got wheat wrap. Very good and filling. The home fries were intense and crisp. The coffee was very good. Last time we came we got the same feel. Warm greeting like you were a regular. We had lunch. We both had a variation of a steak and cheese. The bread was fresh and portions huge. The seats were old school cafeteria style. You slide your tray down the aisle, pay and go. But all with a smile. Food was great, the pricing was up there but the quality creativity and intangibles make this a must try. read more

Filling and delicious at the same time!!! Came here for breakfast and wow. It's not just simple eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns. There are many entree selections from which to choose along with a bunch of specials, and that's just breakfast! Some selections are unique (all sound good) and some are typical breakfast fare. We had little bit of both, classic and unique. ALL of it was good, generous portions and high quality ingredients. Even the coffee was very good. One nice touch is the freshly baked giant muffins in the cast iron pan - if you order it they take it right out of the pan, slice, butter and put it on the grill for a few minutes. Slightly crispy exterior and tender crumb with blueberries -big yum. It's cafeteria style so as soon as you walk in grab a tray, your utensils and get in line. The menu is extensive and it's all posted on the boards above the counter/line. Suggest looking up the menu online beforehand and then when at the restaurant read the specials so you can place your order quickly vs holding up the line. The last thing you want to do is hold up the line of uncaffeinated, hungry patrons. The guys behind the counter are friendly, funny, interactive and yet they really hustle back there to keep the line moving, including Jim himself. This isn't a large restaurant so the seating is limited. Get there early! read more

I was maybe the only person eating, and there is one buddy talking to the crew at full volume about a bunch of pro tr*mp political stuff, and everyone behind the counter was adding to it. Conspiracy stuff like 'B*den killed all the chickens on the way out of office to jack up the price' and complaining how the media fact checks tr*mp but not B*den. Complaining about B*den economy as if ANYTHING is going to get cheaper this year. Honestly ruined my breakfast and I left there super irritated. Took a lot of restraint to not chime in. Amazing food in a cafeteria-style decor! As a native of Brighton, every person's lunchtime rite of passage involves getting a large juicy burger with fries at Jim's Deli. The portion size is humongous and is certain to send any one straight into a food coma if they don't pace themselves. Sometimes, when I'm feeling extra hungry, I'll even order the triple patty burger. And remember - these are authentic beef patties, not those slim fast food ones. So you're definitely not finishing it in one-go unless you have the stomach capacity to rival Adam Richman. Also, I feel like Jim's Deli is a bit of a lucky charm for me. When you enter, you grab a tray and utensils and give them your order as you slowly make your way down the line. There's a variety of drinks at the register, as well as condiments. There's a good number of booths available for seating for groups of two to four, and there's usually spots open. I've come a few times now for an easy weekend meal and every time I've gravitated towards the french toast. This past time I got the Farmer Special Breakfast, which includes eggs, home fries, your choice of meat, and pancakes or french toast. Their french toast stands out to me particularly because they put both powdered sugar and cinnamon on top, which I had never experienced before.
