Omelette had the wrong ingredients and was way over cooked. The only option to put on toast was grape jam and I am not a big fan listening to music that is thumping, dropping in f-bombs and loud. After spending almost $20 on a pretty awful meal, I asked for a cup of water. The server grudgingly gave me a lukewarm tap water. Pretty poor showing. On the positive, place is clean. read more

I visit Newton a couple times a year for work, and one of the highlights of staying around here is going to Corner Cafe. I love how it's a cozy, old school, no-frills type of family run casual restaurant with a local vibe. The food is really fresh and delicious too! I've tried breakfast and lunch here. Love the souvlaki! Everyone who works here is friendly. It's cash only but I ordered pickup through Doordash to use my card. I feel like I set myself up for failure this morning when I walked into the Corner Cafe for my usual ice coffee that I never have to explain how to make because the team actually are so patient with me sometimes I get mad hearing my own self order. $CASH ONLY$ I came in while I was waiting for my car to be serviced thinking I'd grab a quick bite. It's your classic corner cafe with beverages in fridges, a hand written menu for breakfast / lunch, and a good amount of seating ( 3 big tables & 2 smaller ones with 16 chairs). The people working were friendly and clearly recognize their regulars. There's an atm inside since it's cash only. This place is my #1 go to breakfast spot. You cannot beat the prices and the quality of food and portion size is excellent. Their veggie egg burrito is delicious, and bacon always cooked to perfection. The "Hungry" breakfast comes with 3 eggs any style, 3 pieces of bacon and your choice of 3 pancakes or French toast for $13 - can't beat that price! Their online ordering is very easy. From the moment I wandered in (with my coffee from elsewhere) I was welcomed and made to feel appreciated. A good amount of choices for a "Corner Cafe," and the breakfast burrito (The Carney) and the Breakfast sandwich (The Number 1) were exactly what we were looking for. I personally dig the black on black sign above the door, but others might miss it, for those undercaffienated wanderers the flapping OPEN banner on the sidewalk might help. Stopped in 2 weeks ago for a morning bite. We were definitely disappointed in our experience. The restaurant was cash only, which is a total pain in the butt. This was upsetting but the food was more disappointing. I ordered over easy eggs and they all came out either over cooked or with the yolk broken. I never send food back to the kitchen but I was close this time. For a breakfast place to not be able to cook an over easy egg, let's just say is a big red flag. UPDATE: I received a harassing message from a Yelper named Maria S. (Picture included!) after posting my honest review (seriously, hairs in my food, yuck). This Maria S. tried to bully me into taking my review down and tried shaming me in the process (sorry, not sorry for sharing my entire experience). I found it very strange that this person, who claimed to take my review so personally because this was their favorite place to eat, was monitoring reviews for this restaurant and harassing anyone who did not agree with her. Then it clicked that this person must be a relative, and after a quick internet search I found the owner's wife has the same name as this Yelper. I'm just astonished - I tried to let one lie go until finding a third hair, and now the wife is posing as just a patron and harassing me to remove my review. Following up on a lie with a lie! It's crazy! Integrity does not run strong through this family. Maybe you'll have a different experience dear reader, maybe you won't. This is what Yelp was created for - honest reviews and experiences. I've used Yelp hundreds of times to figure out where to eat. I've gone to many restaurants that had a list of varying reviews, and some that included a 1 star review! So, I'm not going to be bullied into removing mine, and I'm not ashamed of sharing this experience. The owner and his wife should be ashamed for their dishonesty and conduct. They still have my money - there was no refund for the contaminated item. My Review: I don't like leaving 1 star reviews, but I just discovered I was lied to. I ordered breakfast through Grubhub and when I opened the tightly sealed delivery bag (I mean knotted tightly, so this didn't happen on the way to my house) and opened the first container of eggs and bacon, I found a dark black 5 inch hair wrapped in the scrambled eggs. I pulled that and the contaminated eggs out (this was to be my son's breakfast) and then discovered a second dark black hair about 3 inches long (gross!). (Picture attached!) My household is strawberry blonde and blonde, so it didn't get all wrapped in the eggs upon opening from me. The lie - I called the restaurant to let them know someone potentially needs to put on a hair net or tie their hair back, and that I wasn't looking for a new order or anything. I've ordered from here before and didn't have an issue then. The person who answered, who I believe was the owner, said they were surprised and I told him this hair was scrambled into the eggs and none of us have dark hair. He said, "wow, neither do we!" I give him credit for trying to fix the issue by offering us lunch, but I was still nauseas from the hair finding that I couldn't accept, and the fact that I don't want to put a restaurant out after all they've been through with Covid this year. It is strange, though, that after declining the lunch offer he didn't offer to refund the item. That should have been offered, I shouldn't have to ask. The reason I think it was the owner on the phone was because he said he has "'his' driver coming back to the restaurant" who can bring us lunch. So, how does a dark black 5" long hair and a 3" long hair make its way into our eggs? And a 3rd 1/2" hair on the scotch tape used to seal my egg wrap?!! I looked at their Instagram and the owner and his family who works here all have dark hair. I am insulted. Thank you for treating me like a fool - you have lost our business Corner Cafe! read more

I work in Newton Corner, and I have never been dissatisfied with this place. They make good wraps/sandwiches, and their avgolemono soup is amazing (It's lemon chicken rice soup). It's accessible to employees or residents of Newton Corner, and I have to say, it's good. I've also tried their breakfast items, and their iced coffee in the summer. The employees at The Corner Cafe are helpful, and are accommodating. I know some reviewers have said that the lady at the front desk isn't nice, but I think she is. I mean, if you're pleasant and nice to someone, they'll be the same way right back. It's customer service...and it pays. The only downside is that they only take cash. But it's okay because there are ATMs around the corner and across the street. read more

Decided to stop here for a bite to eat with my 10 month old daughter while wife my was at a quick work event. The outside has a cool city vibe and the inside is clean and warm. Family owned and operated, Corner Cafes food was fresh, tasty and definitely hit the spot! The menu is dynamic with many international options so I got the gyro and it was fantastic. They even accommodated my baby with some food she could eat and were happy to be allergen friendly for her. The place got busy during the lunch rush and the staff handled it with ease. First off, let me say that this place sells a lot more than sandwiches, most importantly breakfast goods. I was also torn between the "Sandwich" category and the "Greek/Mediterranean" category. And now the rundown. Location: Miserable, unless you work in Newton Corner, and in fact, Newton Corner is mainly composed of offices. Anyway it's not worth driving here and finding parking just to eat here. Breakfast: I've never tried the breakfast items, but they look fine on paper. They also sell baked goods and bagels. And the obligatory coffee. Sandwiches: They sell the standard gamut of American sandwiches, cold and hot, on bread & rolls (turkey, veggie, BLT, veggie burger, griled cheese, etc). They also sell a nice assortment of wraps, which come overstuffed and often dripping. They're pretty good, though, and they have some good veggie options. Expect many variations involving spinach, feta, red onion, and tomato, some with couscous or hummus (hence the Greek/Mediterranean). Salads: Pretty average. Often there is too much iceberg and not enough veggies, sub-average feta. As an aside, I noticed that the Greek salad dressing (not homemade) contains MSG. Hmm. Soups: Very salty. They do an avgolemono (lemon chicken soup) which is good. Sides & drinks: The usual pre-packaged and refrigerated suspects, at what seem like high prices. Other stuff: They do a variety of hot meals that change day to day. Like lasagna, spanakopita, etc. Usually a good deal. I hear good things about their baklava. read more

I work nearby, and my boss often buys us lunch from here. However, we are less than satisfied and are thinking about switching over to Matildas. I will say that the breakfast sandwiches are good and cheap, but nothing else is. The salads and sandwiches are overpriced and mediocre, with iceberg lettuce unless you ask otherwise, and the staff is cranky about taking phone orders even though we frequent the place. They are cash only, and many times they've calculated the check wrong- I guess they hope I won't notice if they throw an extra ($7.50!) salad on there. So if you must go (because, after all, there aren't that many options around here in Newton Corner), be sure to keep an eye on the check, and you should probably just go for breakfast. Addendum: I suck! I returned to the Corner today because I was hungry hungry and wanted some chicken salad, usually $1.50 extra with a salad. How much did it cost me today? $6!!! I currently work in Newton Corner and with my lunch options being fairly limited due to the fact that there simply aren't that many places in the area, I have made my way to Corner Cafe quite a few times but mostly out of convenience since it's essentially twenty feet away from my office building. That being said, aside from convenience there isn't much else that's all that great about it. The service is cold, especially from the woman who works there who doesn't seem to care at all about customers, even repeat ones. She barely smiles and almost never thanks anyone. Her husband behind the stove is much nicer but doesn't interact with customers... As far as the food good, it's actually not bad - pretty good but nothing stellar. The selection is essentially breakfast goods, a few sandwiches and wraps, two soups, and a few salads. There aren't any hot lunches there but there's a few daily specials which mostly revolve around sandwiches and wraps. The owners being Greek, there's also a few Mediterranean-inspired dishes like their avgolemono (lemon-rice soup) and a gyro but that's about it. No spanakopita, no lamb or anything else. The avgolemono was okay but average however their salads and wraps are good; however their wraps somehow feel more like burritos because they are giant and aren't cut in half like everywhere else. Then comes a few negatives: first off, they are cash only. With services like Square, LevelUp and others making accepting card payments both more easily and affordable, this simply isn't acceptable in 2012. I mean c'mon guys... Seriously. And parking can be painful (doesn't really matter much in my case though, I walk there from my office). And their prices are all over the place. I once had a small soup, a salad and a Nantucket juice and the whole thing was $14 which I found hard to swallow considering that their salads are mostly iceberg and not even field greens. Their drinks are really expensive as a matter of fact. But it's not all negative, their bakes good are great, their omelettes pretty tasty and overall the food is good. If only their pricing made more sense and the service was friendly, I'd go more often, but the few places nearby are more appealing to me. Newton Corner is REALLY limited when it comes to places to grab a quick lunch, and most places are cash only. Corner Cafe is cash only, but that's the only downside in my book. The family that owns the business are so nice. It seems to be a husband and wife, and they were always so pleasant when I called to order lunch or ran in to grab a coffee in the mornings. The breakfast plates and sandwiches are out of control diner yummy. It is a must if you're hungry. You should really only order one if you're starved because you get a ton of food. If I get a sandwich here, it's usually a tuna sandwich on wheat with all veggies and hots, and it's always good. The BLT's are also good, and usually the go to for co-workers. They close after lunch time, around 3-ish, so make sure to get in early if you're hungry. read more
