Came here to try the famous chicken Cesar wrap! Sally's is a small casual spot shared with Blackbird Donuts, with no seating options inside. The service was nice. The cesar wrap itself I thought, was a good size and average price. I prefer my wraps to be a bit on the saucier side, so while I liked the flavor, I think it could have used a bit more sauce as certain bites were a bit dry. The fried chicken was crispy, and I loved the crunch of the croutons. I think there was overall a good ratio of parmesan, to lettuce, to chicken, to croutons. read more

Stop by today at 1pm to get a sandwich for dinner while at work tonight for my 3pm to 9 pm shift. I ordered The Gobbler it contains roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, garlic aioli, gravy on a sub roll. The turkey was fresh tasted good, the stuffing was good moist and seasoned, garlic wasn't over powering, gravy was missing??????? The sub roll was good tasted fresh. I would have giving a 5 star for this review but Sally's Sandwich FORGOT to add the gravy on my sandwich! The kitchen staff dropped the ball on this one! Maybe management will contact me after reading this? The sandwich was delicious. read more

We ordered through their online system, which includes Sally's, Blackbird, and the Gallows menu. We were originally only going to get donuts, but since I was quite hungry decided to try some food from Sally's. We ordered a 6 pack of mixed donuts, 2 special cinnamon sugar pull apart donuts, taco party, our way burger, and poutine. The pickup time was about 15 minutes, which was a speedy service and about perfect timing for when we arrived for pickup. The storefront itself has markings on the sidewalk and inside the store to maintain 6ft of social distancing. They have signs to tell you to wait outside if your order is not yet ready. The taco party has 3 tacos: fried avocado, pork, and fried chicken tacos. My favorite was definitely the fried chicken, crispy and flavorful. The burger was pretty standard, but still good if you're in the mood for one. The poutine didn't have too much cheese on it, but you can't really go wrong with fries! I wish there was more of a gravy sauce to add to it. The pull-apart donuts were good and fun to eat. I prefer yeasted risen donuts (instead of cake donuts), so the kiddie cone donut was so cute and tasty to eat! read more

I ordered the chicken caesar wrap advertised as "fried chicken, parmesan, gem lettuce, croutons, caesar dressing, wheat wrap" but mine literally had zero caesar dressing and no parmesan whatsoever. It was only shredded lettuce, chicken tender and soft croutons. Very disappointing and was a waste of money. Unfortunately it was takeout so they couldn't just redo it. read more

Tasty, filling sandwiches! I tried the portobello and banh mi sandwiches, and both were great. I did like the banh mi a little better, but that's a personal taste. The aioli is definitely the highlight to these sandwiches and adds a burst of flavor. The fried chicken on the banh mi was juicy and tender, but not crunchy. The portobello sandwich came with hot sauce that goes pretty well with it and adds a little bit of acidity to a very meaty, savory sandwich. The ciabatta roll for the portobello sandwich was also super tasty. Only one minor note - the banh mi sandwich comes with an ordinary soft bread roll, but I think it would have benefitted from the crunch of a baguette, which is the bread banh mi typically uses. read more

Underwhelming for sure. I was very hopeful that the food, especially the donuts would've been amazing. After doing some research for the best donuts in Boston, I decided to choose here instead of Union Square donuts. The determining factor was that they had savory items including a donut that was available for delivery. The Gallows sandwich was tasty for sure, and I know that if I had it fresh instead of delivered it would've have been even better. I loved all the textures and flavors within the sandwich but I found the bread got soggy too soon. The scotch egg was OK. I've had better, I think it could've had more flavor. The donuts are the most disappointing out of the bunch. I had high hopes. Don't get me wrong, the donuts were not inedible. But they reminded me of Dunkin Donuts.. maybe slightly elevated. The Sally's exclusive donut was my favorite. I enjoyed the sugar around the dough and the cherry and chocolate blended filling inside. I'm not convinced that Blackbird donuts are the best in Boston. My search continues! read more

Sunday , we came here. The line move along with everyone social distancing. I got the honey bun swirl and pineapple Coconut. Both were soft and fluffy. Pineapple coconut tasted like pina colada. The honey bun swirl was way to sweet for me . It was about $3.50 a donut. Worth a try read more

I haven't written a yelp review in years but this was so good I had to dust the keyboard off for this one. When I heard Blackbird donuts was getting a specialty sandwich shop in the south end I was really excited as someone who lives and works in the area, a quick high-end sandwich shop is exactly what I need for lunch. Wasn't sure if my expectations of Banyan, The Gallows, and Blackbirds Rebecca Roth Gullo new extension could live up to my own hype but it actually exceeded them. I tried the brisket with Sally's slaw and pimento and the gobbler, Yes, two .. lay off me I'm starving! The brisket was slow cooked soft and flavorful while Sally's slaw gave it a good crunch and the pimento gave it a little bit of spice in combination with the tangy sauce, it was delicious. The gobbler is a traditional Thanksgiving sandwich but the quality of the turkey and the flavors in the homemade stuffing really elevated beyond the norm. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu and with new options every month I'm sure we won't get bored with choices. Highly recommend. read more

Breakfast is always tough for me. I'm able to eat it any time of day, yet what to have is enough to sent my head tumbling down the rabbit hole. After seeing the Steak and Egg Torta with avocado on The Roaming Foodies' Instagram (with the words "one of the best breakfast sandwiches in Boston) I knew I had to stop in. I brought a friend, and showed him the picture just before ordering. The staff noticed, and remarked how yummy it looked. I ended up going for the same: Steak and Egg Torta with avocado. It took a little longer that I might have expected, though in light of the influx of online orders, them just opening, and that steak takes a while to cook, no big deal whatsoever. Word of warning: This sandwich is messy. The pieces of steak were escaping the runny egg and jumping for the pavement. Eat it at a table, over a plate if you can. Overall, the flavors were good, the steak was well seasoned with salt and pepper (though maybe a little heavy on the salt), and was cooked appropriately. No complaints about avocado, cheese, or egg. Use of flatbread was a nice touch, as it helped everything stay together relatively nicely. An area for improvement is balance. They certainly did not skimp on the steak, though one can argue relative to the rest, there was too much. Egg and avocado were in good amount, though I had trouble finding the cheese. I also would have liked the option of something a little lighter and fresher within. If you have a BEC for Dunkin, it's light enough that it can do without, and this is not Dunkin. When you have a sandwich as hefty and protein dense as this, a little tomato, lettuce, etc, could be a great addition. To be fair, it might be possible to ask these be added. Oh, and do get some of their house-made hot sauce! Coffee is nothing to go out of your way for, it is more convenience. While I don't see myself returning for one of these in the next couple weeks, I do want to try some more of their offerings, especially those meant for lunch. read more

Yummy new spot in the south end. The stand out item was definitely the Porchetta sandwich, with juicy meat and great flavors. The hot sauce was super fresh and such a good addition. The brisket was also good, but the meat was too fatty (even for brisket). The slaw on the brisket sandwich was a nice touch. There had been previous complaints of an automatic 20% tip being added, but that is no longer the case. The prices are a little high though, 2 sandwiches and a donut ended up costing $35. A good "treat yo-self" lunch spot! read more

Good high end sandwich shop. I was very excited to try after learning of the Blackbird Doughnuts affiliation. I had the Brisket sandwich which was pretty good. My only gripes are that the sandwich was not as big as anticipated(based on instagram) and it was a bit pricey for just a sandwich($14). The sandwich was prepared quickly and there was no line when I arrived. There was not seating inside. read more

Sally's Sandwiches is soooo yummy, what a wonderful addition to the Gallows Group empire! Despite the 99-degree heat, we made the walk out to this little doughnut/sandwich shop and we didn't regret it. The porchetta ($13) was juicy and rich, but contrasted nicely with the greens and the aioli. The bun was soft and fluffy. Great sandwich. The falafel was also excellent -- packed with flavor. Both sandwiches were reasonable in size -- not massive but a responsible amount of food. Or maybe I just thought it was responsible because it was so delicious I invariably wanted more. I would be remiss to not mention that the vegan peach jam doughnut was lovely as well -- soft and bursting with tangy peach jam. Wish I lived closer so I could get breakfast, lunch, and dessert at Sally's/Blackbird every day! read more

Really solid spot - we tried four of their sandwiches recently. Clear favorite was the "Gobbler" (turkey, gravy, cran deliciousness) with the falafel a close second (only complaint is that the falafel is so huge some of your bites are just pure falafel - they'd benefit from cutting it in half to distribute). Brisket had potential (the pimento goat cheese was really nice), but the brisket itself was a bit dry. We all felt the porchetta was the weakest - I found the garlic rabe super bitter and overpowering. Will return to try the others, though it will be hard to stray from the Gobbler and Falafel duo - really great stuff. read more

I got the gallows breakfast sandwich to go and it was delicious! I wish there were more coffee options though but that's okay, breakfast sandwich was unreal. It has bacon, fried egg, avocado, and a hash brown patty. I got it without the spicy aioli since I can't do spicy myself but I'm sure that's good as well. On the pricier side though, but still yummy. read more

A great addition to Harvard square! There had been a lack of a classic American breakfast, and Sally's Sandwiches filled that void. Sandwiches are awesome. This is a very expensive high end sandwich shop. 3 sandwiches with sides - almost $60 with tip!!! Ordered via website for lunch at 12:15. Showed up. Was told 10 more minutes with no apology. Left came back. Still not ready. Now told a "few more minutes " and they hadn't even started one of Sandwiches. Long story short-order was not ready until 12:40. While I was waiting a construction worker, who was in cue before me requested a refund, because he couldn't wait any longer. There was a manager working in kitchen, who was visibly averting their view from front of store. Gave me a negative feeling about operation. Sh$&t happens. Right thing to do - rather than phoning it in - would have been a group apology with invitation back at register. No offer for money off etc. And just excuses. Get it together! There are thousands of people out of work. read more

Ordered the steak sandwich and a chocolate glazed donut and was underwhelming. Sandwich had little steak and donut was dry.

I hate to do this as I was so excited a vegan option was added but... it's not good. My wrap was so, so oily, it was soaked through and I could only eat a few bites. It was messy and there was puddle of oil at the bottom of the wrapper. The flavor was just ok. I will add that the packaging/branding is very nice and staff is friendly, but overall this was a very disappointing experience. I am sad I wasted food and nearly $13 :( read more

I came here for lunch right after the new sandwich concept opened. I had high expectations given the Blackbird affiliation. I ordered the California club which was good but not great. Honestly, it was fairly run of the mill. The bread was a bit over powering for the sandwich and there was avocado leaking from all sides. It had a nice taste but wasn't anything particularly special, especially at $14. Honestly, my overall rating would be higher but I take issue with the automatic 20% gratuity added to my check. This is a sandwich counter, not a full service restaurant. There is literally nowhere to sit. When the cashier gave me my total, it didn't match the amount charged on the receipt. It took me a minute to realize what occurred. When my food was ready I asked to speak to the manager. I asked why they would automatically include gratuity and she was indignant. She suggested that his was the new norm in restaurants as that I should get used to it! Wow. I have no problem with the opportunity to leave a tip but leaving 20% as a default seems like a deceptive practice. Also, my friend bought ice cream and they added an additional $2 to the check for gratuity. The cone was $3 and the total was $5.50 somehow?! I hope they are able to see how this policy negatively impacts their customers and will prohibit repeat business. I for one will not be returning anytime soon if this practice remains in place. Proceed with caution! read more

First off food is pretty good and had the porchetta sandwich which had a nice taste and obviously was prepared with some care. Soft serve ice cream cone was good too. The Big Problem with this place is that they automatically add tip to your order for a counter service place. Made a $3 cone $5.50. Complained and manager said that's how Flower does it so take a hike. It's crazy. Honestly pay a fair wage don't force me to pay for food and tip ees when there really is no service. Should we tip at Whole Foods too? read more

I am a sandwich lover and Sam LaGrassa's and Flour are the gold standard. So I had high expectations, especially given the high prices. The food is spectacular - I loved the California Club with beautifully soft bread and smashed avocado pouring out over the sides. The turkey was so high quality and the slaw in there was fantastic - and I normally detest all things cabbage/slaw. We also got the grilled cheese and added bacon and it was the perfect grilled cheese - buttery bread but not over-grilled or burnt which I never support. Perfect blend of 5+ cheeses. Also don't sleep on the homemade hot sauce - wonderful. No pictures because we ate them too fast but they were gorgeous sandwiches. The only sad part is my total was $23-something for TWO SANDWICHES. So now I can't pay my rent. So there's that. read more

Ive never written a bad review but i had gone in there today to order breakfast which cost $40 for a sandwich, kids grilled cheese, doughnut, and drink. The quality of the food is good, maybe still not worth that amount. But the main problem was with the order being wrong. I asked to add in avocado and bacon into the grilled cheese. It was charged and they repeated the order to me 3x and i made sure to also remind them, just to come home and not have those items in the sandwich. If i'm paying an expensive amount of money of food, not only should quality be put in but so should the service and the workers attentiveness in listening and remembering. read more

This place is the bomb. Mostly the Sally's menu but have a few standouts from the Gallows menu too. Fried chicken sandwich is great, mojo pork is awesome, burgers are very good straight-forward burgers, breakfast sandwich is fire, spicy fries are fantastic... have tried a bunch of things and they've all been good. As a longtime lover of Blackbird, I was really excited to try Sally's. I got the brisket sandwich, and I do have to admit I've had better. The brisket was a little dry and chewy, but the slaw and pimento goat cheese were great touches. I think this sandwich could've done with a bit less bread, too, to help the ingredients shine. The sandwiches are priced similarly to Sam Lagrassa's, of which I'm a huge fan, but not quite as big or delicious. For almost $15, I expect my socks knocked off. read more
