What a gem! We stopped by for lunch and it did not disappoint. Upon walking in, we were warmly greeted by the hostess that welcomed us to her family's restaurant. She asked if we had tried Chilean food and proceeded to kindly explain the menu. We opted for a small BBQ beef sandwich and a drink. The food was prepared by the owner/hostess' father, and the owner/hostess' mother helped us with our drinks. Came here at 1 pm as they do close at 3 pm to find the lines long and fast. People had already placed orders or already knew what they wanted when walking in. One of the owners sweetly suggested we try their BBQ combos as they marinate the chicken and beef. My friend and I each order a large combo of the BBQ and original and split. Both sandwiches were so flavorful served inside soft and chewy bread. Although toppings were similar, the original had more of a pesto based taste and was spicier in my opinion. The BBQ was served with roasted bell pepper and tomatoes which I am a sucker for and was my preferred as a result. Overall, the food was phenomenal and the staff were so kind. And flavorless, dismaying considering they claim to marinate their barbecued meats overnight. This place is awesome! I've heard so many good things about Chacarero, but could never get there on time until recently. Got there at 1pm which was the sweet spot. The line was long but moved quickly! Almost everyone in line was a regular and did not waste any time. It's sandwich shop with a small section to sit and eat. The staff was so friendly. They knew it was my friend and I's first time and were super patient with us. They kindly recommended we get a combo and a bbq sandwich. I ordered the bbq while my friend got the combo. Both were so tasty and great portions. It was my first time eating a Chilean sandwich and it was an experience. One of my first experiences with Chilean cuisine! I ordered a Small Chacarero Original. One thing's for sure: the sandwich is unique in that is uses green beans! While I don't see myself ordering a burger with green beans, here it works well. The sandwich was generally well balanced. The bread was terrific, and was plentiful meat, cheese, and veggies. However, a few key things were missing which kept the chacarero in "alright" territory. First, the meat desperately needed some basic seasoning. The chicken was nondescript, and the beef had only roasted beef flavors. Second, I feel a more generous slather of the avocado spread would be welcome. Finally, while I ordered the sando spicy, it had no perceptible heat of any kind, though this could be chalked to my fire-roasted tastebuds. Thus, with a lack of salt, pepper, and heat the chance to ended up being bland. Finally, where it comes to value, you get a hefty sized sandwich (even for a small) which has a fair amount of ingredients. As for service: it was very efficient, which I appreciate for the lunch rush. So what were left with is an almost great sandwich with some issues that made the experience lackluster. I haven't been to this location. The last time I had their sandwich was when they were near Filene's 30 years ago. I had the barbecue chicken with everything on it and it was just as delicious as I had remembered it. It's a standard order. A vegetarian sandwich. Sometimes small, sometimes large. But always tasty! The veggie sandwich comes with toasted bread, cheese, avocado spread, their house green sauce/chutney, tomato slices, roasted red pepper, and the not-so-secret ingredient anymore, steamed green beans. I would never think of such a combination of ingredients would work well on a sandwich, but Chacarero wows me every single time. Every bite is so full of flavor - spicy chutney, sweetish red pepper, tangy tomato, creamy avocado and cheese, mild beans, and the crunchiness of bread. I've also gotten take out from here and then reheated the sandwich at home on a pan. It definitely holds up, no change in flavor. Customer service is top notch. Friendly with a smile. You order at the register and the sandwich is prepared at the counter. You can definitely eat in, chairs and tables are available. Get there earlier in the day rather than later, sometimes they run out just because they're so good. They're only open on weekdays. I've also tried their baked chicken empanada and it's good too. Not a tremendous amount of variety here with the "Original" and the "B-B-Que" in chicken or beef or chicken and beef. A vegetarian option as well. Large or small. A few other side items but the big sellers are the sandwiches. Order and at the register, then work your way through the rope lines where the sandwiches are prepared in order. Easy. Bruce says, go with the original in chicken or beef (I chose beef) and "all the way" which includes a spicy sauce, Muenster cheese, tomatoes, avocado spread and, yes, steamed green beans. I was really looking forward to trying a Chilean eatery in Boston as I visited Chile in 2019 and was seeking out familiar tastes! I ordered the barbecue combo, but it tasted just alright! It wasn't the tastiest sandwich I have had, but it was definitely a reminder of the Chilean taste I hd when I traveled there in 2019 with the way the meat was prepared and how the avocado was added. I think for the price, though, I would most likely not return. The sandwich in total with tax ended up around $16 or $17, which is more than I would have liked to pay for a sandwich. read more

Just thin cut, well cooked and seasoned chicken breast, with "hot sauce" a delightfully spicy guacamole, and some mayo on bread they make fresh every morning. A substantial and delicious sandwich. Sides/drinks are extra. Service is fast and pleasant. It's not really a sit and eat place but if the weather is nice, it a great sandwich to eat while people watching outside. Chacarero has literally become a landmark for me and my colleagues. When it was announced that we were moving offices, this was the first thing that was pointed out: "Oh man, we're going to be down that little alley to Chaca. THERE IS A DIRECT PATH TO CHACA." There is a small sit down area if you want to eat in (we usually grab the sandwiches to go. My favorite thing on the menu is the barbeque combo. You get chicken and beef on bread, topped with cheese, sauce, green beans, avocado spread, tomato, roasted bell peppers, and salt and pepper. If you love spicy food, you can ask for extra hot (original spice level is relatively mild). The extra hotness level depends on the day (hahaha #same), but it ranges from "That has a great kick to it!" to "I am sweating so much, this is better than a detox or a sitting in a sauna." If there is a line (and there's probably a line), don't let it scare you away. Chaca has the most efficient sandwich making system I've ever seen. Seriously. See you there! read more

I stopped by for a quick bite and got a large chacarero original beef sandwich. I've never had chilean sandwiches before, and what makes it different is the thin sliced, churrasco (grilled) style beef. The sandwich had tomatoes, green beans, muenster cheese, and avocado spread! I would say that the sandwich is similar to a torta. The plus side is that the ingredients are fresh and it was fairly quick before I got my order and was on my way out. The green beans took me for a surprise, but life is full of surprises! I think I could do without the green beans, but I suppose thats what makes the sandwich well rounded. You order at the small counter and then go online to where the food is to get your order. The staff at the counter was very sweet and explained what was in each other to us and answered our questions. We ordered a BBQ chicken empanada and a combo sandwich. The bbw chicken is really spicy but I also cannot handle spice. The combo sandwich was mediocre and bland. It tastes fresh from the avocado and the tomatoes. It was also the first time I got green beans on a sandwich. The green beans were similar to that of public school green beans. Three stars for the food and four for the service. read more
