Chicken sandwich with stringbeans and the spicy spread.
Venessa P.

I have been going to chacareri now for 10 years ... best chicken sandwich.... so good... love the spicey spread and the stringbeans...

Chacarero 4/2025

I successfully beat the lunch rush and picked up a small chicken original Chacarero sandwich which came with avocado spread, tomato, and green beans. Hold the spicy sauce. The chicken is thin cut white meat, which was fine moistened up be the avocado and green beans, but the bit that overflowed the bun was a little on the dry side. Service was pleasant. I was satisfied. $13 after tax for the small original chicken make for a reasonably priced lunch these days.

One of my OG go to sandwich shops in downtown Boston. The pairing of Munster cheese with string beans and peppers with bbq beef is not your typical sandwich but it works and tastes good which is why they draw so many people each day for lunch. The spicy beef is a bit spicy for me and the chicken is usually dry so I like the beef!

What a gem! We stopped by for lunch and it did not disappoint. Upon walking in, we were warmly greeted by the hostess that welcomed us to her family's restaurant. She asked if we had tried Chilean food and proceeded to kindly explain the menu. We opted for a small BBQ beef sandwich and a drink. The food was prepared by the owner/hostess' father, and the owner/hostess' mother helped us with our drinks. The beef was soft and delicious, with unique flavor in part to the slow cook spices, the green beans, and the avocado spread. Highly recommend!

Delicious Chilean food. We tried the bbq beef sandwich. Bbq Beef was delicious, soft and flavorful! Pair with your choice of drink and it will be delicious. The wait time to receive our food was not long. Inside seating is available. Thank you for providing a pleasant experience during our visit. See you next time!

Came here at 1 pm as they do close at 3 pm to find the lines long and fast. People had already placed orders or already knew what they wanted when walking in. One of the owners sweetly suggested we try their BBQ combos as they marinate the chicken and beef. My friend and I each order a large combo of the BBQ and original and split. Both sandwiches were so flavorful served inside soft and chewy bread. Although toppings were similar, the original had more of a pesto based taste and was spicier in my opinion. The BBQ was served with roasted bell pepper and tomatoes which I am a sucker for and was my preferred as a result. Overall, the food was phenomenal and the staff were so kind. I will absolutely come again to this hidden gem and hope others do too! Now I understand how they are able to stay afloat with their limited hours and rightfully so.

Dry Chicken, whaaat? Hate to give this Chilean sandwich place only 3 stars but the barbecue chicken sandwich came with chicken so dry I had to fish most of it out. And flavorless, dismaying considering they claim to marinate their barbecued meats overnight. Everything else about this sandwich was superior, from the fresh baked bread to the spicy sauce, the avocado spread, tomato, cheese etc. Hopefully this was a one off culinary hiccup and not the norm.

This place is awesome! I've heard so many good things about Chacarero, but could never get there on time until recently. Got there at 1pm which was the sweet spot. The line was long but moved quickly! Almost everyone in line was a regular and did not waste any time. It's sandwich shop with a small section to sit and eat. The staff was so friendly. They knew it was my friend and I's first time and were super patient with us. They kindly recommended we get a combo and a bbq sandwich. I ordered the bbq while my friend got the combo. Both were so tasty and great portions. It was my first time eating a Chilean sandwich and it was an experience. The meat was fresh, the avocado spread was great, and I really enjoyed the crunchy green beans. I also asked for their homemade hot sauce which I recommend. I can't wait to go again!

The sandwiches at Chacarero are very solid, good ratios of chicken/beef and veggies to bread, my favorite is the BBQ combo. The prices have risen sharply over the past few years making it hard to justify going there and the dining area is small and noisy. I would recommend ordering as takeaway and enjoying in one of the near by parks.

One of the things I miss about working Downtown is my weekly sandwich from this place. Large chicken and beef combo with tomatoes, green beans, Muenster cheese, avocado paste, and hot sauce on freshly baked Chilean bread. This sandwich is single-handedly responsible for an 85% drop in office productivity between the hours of 1-3pm in a 1-mile radius.

Delicious homemade items including the bread. However, the menu is a bit confusing as it doesn't clearly explain the protein options and spice levels.

Visited Chacarero this week - it had been a long time. Staff was super friendly, but the dine-in seating was closed to customers. These sandwiches are best eaten warm, and by the time I got back to my office to take that first bite, the meat was luke warm and everything seemed a bit dry. Needed more avocado spread and seasoning, but they still make a really unique, tasty, and satisfying sandwich. At $15.18 for a large combo though, I won't be a regular like I used to be in DTX...

Vegetarian sandwich, small
Apex S.

It's a standard order. A vegetarian sandwich. Sometimes small, sometimes large. But always tasty! The veggie sandwich comes with toasted bread, cheese, avocado spread, their house green sauce/chutney, tomato slices, roasted red pepper, and the not-so-secret ingredient anymore, steamed green beans. I would never think of such a combination of ingredients would work well on a sandwich, but Chacarero wows me every single time. Every bite is so full of flavor - spicy chutney, sweetish red pepper, tangy tomato, creamy avocado and cheese, mild beans, and the crunchiness of bread. I've also gotten take out from here and then reheated the sandwich at home on a pan. It definitely holds up, no change in flavor. Customer service is top notch. Friendly with a smile. You order at the register and the sandwich is prepared at the counter. You can definitely eat in, chairs and tables are available. Get there earlier in the day rather than later, sometimes they run out just because they're so good. They're only open on weekdays. I've also tried their baked chicken empanada and it's good too. But the sandwich is truly the star of the show! Every time I'm in this area, that sandwich calls out to me. And I come running!

Really fun Asian-Latin fusion restaurant and a new addition to the South End!…read more A few friends and I went the other day on Sunday night to celebrate an early birthday and being half done with our third year of medical school! I usually don't like to splurge on fancy meals (big fan of under $25 meals) but tonight was a treat. Ambiance is romantic and dark - maybe a bit too dark? I couldn't really see the menu Starters were solid - crispy rice and bao were fine but I was most impressed by yuca fries and miso eggplant. I love all things miso and eggplant, and the yuca fries were fried in such a unique way that they were fluffy inside. Never had that experience in any Latin restaurant that served fried yuca before - very cool. Skirt steak was amazing and the chimichurri was addicting. Tacos were both alright too! Drinks were fun and strong, and the tres leches cake to end off the night was perfectly moist. Carajillo shots were awesome - a delicious Latin take on espresso martinis. They have DJ sets on Friday and Saturday nights and their listening room downstairs can get pretty packed. Would love to go back; it is gorgeous down there, and the bartender was so sweet and helpful.

It's quite cozy inside with less than 20 tables making for a very intimate experience. I loved the decor inside too. The cocktail I ordered was called the Besó Boricua and my boyfriend got a glass of sangria. My drink was sweet and very enjoyable, plus it looked very picturesque. The sangria was good too, a little strong. We split the Tostones Salmorejo de Jueyes which were very tasty, I had never tried a dish like this before. The tostones were crunchy and fresh and the topping was tasty. My entree was the Churrasco con Salsa Chimichurri, which was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly and the chimichuri salsa was super tasty. I also loved the rice and beans it came with. Huge portion but I was able to pace myself and finish most of it. My boyfriend got the Chuleta Kan-Kan which he really enjoyed. The portion was also huge and I didnt try it but he said was tasty. Our servers were very nice and kept checking in on us as well. It wasn't that busy when we came which we liked because we could enjoy each others company more in a quiet setting. Definitively check this place out, we will be trying out their sister restaurants!!

Our first team lunch in 2025 had 16 people, so the tables were arranged in a long row. The leader, who was paying the bill, sat at one end, while the rest of us sat at the other. I wasn't seated near the leader, and I quickly noticed a night-and-day difference in service between the two ends of the table. We ordered several appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Initially, the appetizers were distributed evenly between both ends. However, after we finished our first round, the leader's end had their empty plates cleared and water refilled, while our end was left with empty plates and cups. We waited over 10 minutes as a second round of appetizers arrived at the leader's end, yet no one cleared our dishes or refilled our water. We flagged down three different servers, each of whom promised to help, but we continued waiting. After more than 16 minutes, someone finally cleared only some of our plates, refilled our water, and brought us the appetizers that the other end had already received. The leader's end probably never noticed anything wrong because they were consistently attended to, but the rest of us felt neglected. The poor service continued when our entrées arrived: the servers left the second round of empty appetizer plates on our end and never cleared them. By the time dessert arrived, I couldn't tell whether my frustration with the service had affected my perception or whether the food was simply mediocre. Either way, the experience left a bad impression, especially because the difference in hospitality between the two ends of the table was so obvious. Our second team lunch took place in September 2026 with 12 people. Ten of us arrived first and ordered our entrees while saving two seats for our leaders, who were running late due to a meeting. I was the second person to order, requesting the Cuban Rice Bowls with a side of Crispy Eggplant Milanesa and Grilled Chicken Adobe. When the food arrived, everyone--including the two leaders who ordered last--received their entrées, but I only received my side of Grilled Chicken Adobe. I waited five minutes without seeing any servers or receiving an update about my missing food. When I tried to flag down someone who appeared to be the hostess, she hurried past me and said, "They are working on it," without stopping to speak with me. I felt completely neglected. I had ordered early, yet no one bothered to explain the delay or reassure me that the rest of my meal was coming. After another five minutes, my Cuban Rice Bowls and Crispy Eggplant Milanesa finally arrived--10 minutes after everyone else had started eating. By then, my chicken was getting cold, and I felt pressured to eat quickly so I wouldn't keep everyone waiting. I couldn't enjoy the food and barely remember how it tasted because I was focused on chewing and swallowing as fast as possible. When I was about three-quarters finished and everyone else had already finished their meals, the awkwardness became too much, so I asked the servers to take my food away. The Cuban Rice Bowls may have been tasty, but all I remember is feeling rushed, neglected, and unable to enjoy my meal. I would recommend small groups here to have the best experience because they obviously cannot handle large groups and will neglect half the table or mess up someone's order.
