Bacon hot honey grilled cheese and truffle tots.
Sam W.

I have been going to roxys since they had a single food truck parking around Boston. I have NEVER been disappointed and every grilled cheese, lemonade, tots, and poutine have been phenomenal. I make sure to find time to stop here every time I'm in Boston. Must go!

I've been going to this place more regularly. This is not a sit-down type of place, you stand in a line, order and get your order when your name is called. They have a decent grilled cheese and sandwich menu, and also have some shakes. I've had the three-cheese grilled cheese sandwich (classic three cheese), the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato (rookie melt), and the broccoli and cheddar melt. The broccoli and cheddar sandwich is my favorite grilled cheese entree here. It has a little bit of red pepper in it, and it definitely adds a different dimension You can never go wrong with it, and it always make me feel happy after I get a nice carb dump here. I recently tried the double fried chicken sandwich with hot honey, and I really regret not trying this sooner. It was crispy, meaty, and the hot honey flavor added some sweetness to the texture that I liked very much. Totally recommend this place if you are craving grilled cheese or even a burger.

I usually see a couple of people lined up to get grilled cheese from this food truck so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered the original 3 cheese. The sandwich was grilled nicely but it was also doused with butter. the cheese was good but as it started to cool, it became like a solid brick. So I guess once you get your sandwich eat it as quickly as possible. And honestly, if you want to eat a ton of butter and cheese then this is for you. I was dissatisfied with my sandwich and my stomach started to hurt from all the grease. I probably won't be returning to Roxy's again.

I have a confession to make that hopefully will not void my Boston foodie license: This is actually my first trip to Roxys since I moved here 2.5 years ago. The nationally acclaimed grilled cheese food truck did not disappoint. This is how you take a childhood favorite and elevate it next level. A simplistic menu, but one not lacking in creativity. Exhibit A: my choice, the Muenster, which included bacon and guacamole. Great sandwich, period. The truffle fries were also well done and the portion size could without doubt feed 2-3 people. Not sure what took me so long, but its easy to see why Roxys is the gold standard of the food truck scene.

The greatest thing about my weekend was Roxy's being in Vegas and my discovery of their grilled cheese awesomeness. However, every other grilled cheese I will eat is now destined to pale in comparison. For my first stop at Roxy's, I went with the Rookie. A nice, basic grilled cheese sandwich - cheddar, tomato, spicy brown mustard, and optional bacon (which in my mind is never optional). Prior to this, I'd actually never had a grilled cheese with mustard. Oh my, the spicy brown mustard added such a great flavor kick. And all of the ingredients were just the right amount. And the cheese was perfectly ooey gooey. For my second stop (the first sandwich was so good I couldn't resist coming back again), I went with the French Connection - brie, caramelized apples, and bacon. I've had similar grilled cheese sandwiches before, but this one was a standout. The brie was actually perfectly ooey gooey and the apples being caramelized added a great depth of interesting flavor. On my second trip, I also went for the Rosemary Gorgonzola Fries. The fries were excellent - well-seasoned and almost perfectly done. Could've used a bit more gorgonzola, but a great flavor combo. And the best part (besides the crew being handsome and friendly with sexy Beantown accents) was that they nailed it as street food. The sandwiches were perfectly packaged in a sleeve of wax paper. This minimized the hand greasiness and made it simple to eat and walk around. As someone who is typically a knife and fork girl, this meant a lot to me. If I lived in Boston, I would absolutely be here regularly.

Grilled cheese sandwiches bring back memories of childhood comfort food. This food truck hangs out on the Harvard U campus and the staff are nice folks. It doesn't take too long for the oozy goodness to get ready. I stuck with the standard 3 cheeses. Sheer joy as I've not had a grilled cheese in a long time. Even the crusts are crispy and I don't usually like the crusts. Hubby had the honey bacon. I don't care for sweet meats on my sandwiches but this also tasted good that I finished his last piece of crust. I would certainly be interested in trying one of the other grilled cheese options and fries. But not so good for the cholesterol.

Finally had the chance to try Roxy's during a Harvard event. They pulled up the food truck and were serving two types of grilled cheeses: three cheese and the "green Muenster" with bacon, avocado, and Muenster cheese. I tried the green Muenster, which was delicious. The generous portion of cheese was warm and melted, and the saltiness from the bacon gave a crunch and savoriness to every bite. Since this event had complimentary food, I can't comment as to the value of the grilled cheese since the price wasn't listed, but it was an excellent sandwich. I also tried their truffle fries which had strong truffle flavor. Their fries are very thin which means they become extra crispy in the fryer, and overall taste delicious.

There are currently 4 business profiles for Roxy's, but since it is afterall a food truck, I wonder just how many vehicles there actually are. Anyhow, I stopped by SoWa on Sunday and ended up adding myself to the line to Roxy's, which was the last of a long line of food truck options. First thing's first, line up to order. It is cash only, and it is old school write things down manner of order taking (not the ipads and ipods of Clover Food Lab). That line took a bit, but even longer (22 minutes for me) was the wait for the fresh made sandwiches and fries. For that you just stand en mass and strain your ears to hear your name to signal that your order is ready. They really need some kind of speaker system! . Mighty Rib $7 Fontina (that's a cheese), braised short ribs, bbq, caramelized onion . Duck Confit $11 French Brie, duck confit, cranberry orange compote . Hand cut Truffle Fries $4 . Pineapple Lemonade $3 . Bottled water $2 One whole sandwich (well, 2 halves) and a shared order of the fries totally filled me up. In fact, I may have over-ate a tad. The protein in both sandwiches were finely shredded, tender, and a satisfactory portion. But I didn't notice the caramelized onion in the first, but especially enjoyed the sweet touch of the cranberries in the second. The short rib was juicy and dribbled this juice as I ate, so don't say you haven't been warned! The fries were crisp but way too salty. They were thicker cut than those of Clover. The pineapple lemonade was not a sweet drink, and wasn't really to my taste. Note: Cash Only *** 5/2012 *** Looks like Yelp finally decided to consolidate all the business profiles for Roxy's. The Green Muenster was crisp and chock full of crisp bacon bits - a bit overkill for me, but most likely great and quite welcome to the heavy duty bacon lovers. There was no need for ketchup for the truffle-y french fries. *** 8/2012 *** If you got to have their truffle fries, go early - this was the 2nd late lunch that resulted in no fries. Rookie Melt - VT Cheddar, Tomato $5 C.L.T.B. - Provolone, Confit Chicken, Arugula, Bacon, Tomato, House-Made Ranch $7 The confit chicken seemed to be masquerading a little too successfully as tuna, which made the Rookie the winner of the meal. Each, however, was grilled to a nice brown color and all gooeyness within.

Green muenster and fries. Drool...
Kim V.

My first experience here was on my birthday last year, and oh my what a good birthday it was! My bf and I initially decided to go to a restaurant in Cambridge. We took a stroll along Comm Ave to work up and appetite, when we came across Roxy's. It wasn't open yet, but when we inquired, found out that it would open in another 10 minutes, so we decided to wait. Oh man!! We got the Green Muenster and split it. Can you say "heaven in your mouth"? The avocado and bacon were a fantastically delicious compliment to the cheese, and my goodness they don't skimp on the cheese! Just half a sandwich each and we were full! After this, I followed them on twitter to make sure I could taste their mighty goodness once again.

a close up of a basket of fries

So let me start off with saying their burgers were good. I chose this place based off the reviews and the main reason was for their truffle fries. I was very enthusiastic and super eager to have some good truffle fries. Unfortunately they are understaffed, they had one person who was working which he had to take customers orders and cook the food. The truffle fries were terrible, couldn't taste the truffle, my son refused to even eat his. They were overcooked and super disappointing. Would not come back.

Green Muenster Grilled Cheese with Onion Rings - gooey goodness.

This 4-star review includes potential to do better going forward. We tried the Mac and Cheese with chorizo and the Green Muenster and a side of onion rings. The Mac and Cheese was good in concept, a bit lacking in execution. I found the pasta in the bread to be a bit heavy, the cheese was lost a bit in the chorizo flavor, and there were no onions to be found in the sandwich anywhere. Really, the cheese should always be the star in a grilled cheese, right? The Green Muenster was better: the guacamole was solid and fresh, the muenster was melted nicely, and the bacon was crisp. The peppery-ness of the guac played nicely with the slightly sweet maple bacon. The only downside was that the bread was a bit overdone and tough in spots. I'd come back for this. The onion rings were a mess. My girlfriend commented, and rightfully so, that the deep fryer must have been too cool as the rings weren't crispy but the onions were absolutely mushy inside; no flavor to the rings either. A lot of it went right to the trash. The soups that came with the sandwiches were quite nice. Basil and tomato that would rival most bistro soups served in a "shooter" cup. A great accompaniment to the mac n cheese but not so much to the guac/muenster. Multiple soup offerings would be fantastic. Some suggestions: 1) The prices are fairly high. $7 for a grilled cheese and a tiny cup of soup is going to turn a lot of people off. If you can work it out to bring this down to $5.50 you'll see more turnover and sustained college business, I think. Having a lunch special or late night special (sandwich, soup, and drink) for $7-7.50 would make more financial sense to most buyers. 2) You need to be prepared for people to do take away business. Plastic/paper bags, napkins, lids for the soups, etc. 3) A more efficient line-cooking method. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for a sandwich to be out of the window. 3-4 minutes would be efficient, based on other successful trucks I've visited in other cities. Low melting point cheeses, prepped bins for each sandwich, etc. 4) Having the ability to order a large soup would be useful as it was quite nice and could be a high margin sales source for you. 5) Don't push anything out of the window that you aren't satisfied with. The missing onions on the Mac and Cheese and the mushy onion rings should never have made it to us. Quality control is super important to repeat business; varying quality is one of the major reasons restaurants go out of business. 6) Continue to interact and take comments from customers seriously, be it in person or through Twitter/Facebook. You have a quality concept and fill a need in the area. Gourmet food at a reasonable price in an area filled with college foodies bereft of quality food options. I recommend other Yelpers give these guys a shot.

My life changed drastically three months ago, when I switched jobs from an office in Newton to an office in the heart of the Financial District. I went from one lunch option to dozens; it's a lot for a person fond of eating to take in. The first two weeks I went mad with power and launched a food truck rampage, sampling everything in Dewey Square multiple times. After the dust settled, I calmed down but remained vigilant, adding every possible food truck to my Twitter feed until one day Roxys said they'd be down the street from me. I jubilantly made the trip over and ordered a Mighty Rib. It was heaven. Next I ordered The Boomer (their newest addition -- jack, mushrooms, garlic spinach, basil aioli). Also delightful. Their lemonades of the day have often made mine, so basically, I'm a smitten kitten. If you ever want to join me and Nicole V for a Melted Monday lunch outing, hollaaaaa.

Half green muenster half rib melt. All delicious.

First overnight date night with my husband since our daughter was born over a year and a half ago. We are staying in Waltham and couldn't decide what to eat. He looked at me and said "what about that grilled cheese place we saw on TV?" and I showed him that I was already looking at your Yelp page. We decided this was a sign. We drove to Allston and grabbed a green muenster, rib melt, poutin, regular fries, chipotle mayo and Justin's sauce. We literally buckled the bag of food into our empty car seat (that's how good it smelled) and drove a half hour back to our hotel. Best. Decision. Ever! At first I was skeptical that I'd be satisfied and was feeling remorseful at spending $28 on grilled cheese and fries. I was WRONG. It was so freaking delicious and we are both so full. We each had half of each sandwich and loved them both but agreed the green muenster was more delicious. We will come back next time we are in the area. Heck we only live an hour and a half away so we might come back just for more grilled cheese.

I had the pleasure of trying the Irish griller and the nachos, because, honestly, how can I resist nachos. Now, when I'd had corned beef before, it had only been from a can... so my expectations were not set particularly high. However, there's really no comparison between canned rubbish and this! Sandwich was nicely balanced and toasted (maybe grilled?) to perfection. There was a variety of textures and flavors to be found inside. There was a bit of cheesiness, but the stars on the plate were the slaw and the beef. The slaw was fresh with just the right amount of crunch, whereas the beef was tender and in just the right amount. I would have liked a little more sauce though, as I don't recall there being a whole lot of it. On the side perhaps? Also, and this is just me... but a little more cheese never hurts. Then there were the nachos... these fell short for me. As opposed to the thought put into the sandwich, these were like something a college student would throw together. Good nachos, in my opinion, are warm; whereas these were just chips for a bag with stuff thrown on top. The sauerkraut was quite nice, it that it wasn't overly sour. However, because this dish didn't move a thermometer, the beef and chips, and even cheese went together like oil and water. On top of that, the Thousand Island sauce didn't really work for me here. It might be great on sandwiches and salads, but not nachos.

It didn't hurt that the guys working were so sweet and kind. I would absolutely stop by their bus again if I ever see them out and about.

I remember when I first heard about this event. My initial thought was "oh look another way NYC and…read moreBoston can compete". Actually, I thought it was just another event New York City could dominate Boston at. But that's just the New Yorker in me. I kid, I kid. I've got nothing but love for Boston's food trucks. I was mostly interested in what trucks New York was going to come with as lets be honest the only food trucks I ever saw in NYC were the halal and hotdog trucks on the streets. And let's just say I was taught never to trust street meat. Good thing the website is good at listing the trucks and their websites so you can scope out the competition beforehand. Surprised to see almost all of them had websites. The first time this event was held in Dewey Square. Contained completely on the farmer's market island. My god it was a mess of lines and the wait for some of the trucks was horrendous. People had to plan strategically in their groups in order to hit as many of the trucks they wanted to try. Food truck competitions are serious business and apparently you call out a competition between NY and Boston you're going to pull a crowd to show some love for their hometown. It's understandable... even if the longest lines were from two NY trucks. The second time around the planners did a lot better location wise. They spread the trucks out along the less trafficked Greenway. Thank god they learned from last year. Also line control was handled a lot better. No funky zigzag across 4 different truck areas here. And there was also plenty of grass or curb to sit and eat. Now for the food. This competition has a habit of bringing an array of different cuisines. I had a plan to visit two trucks this time. Morrocan truck Comme Ci Comme Ca and Indian Chinese hybrid Momos & Buns. Most of the NY trucks had a limited 'Throwdown' menu. While I did pick up the kofka couscous from Comme Ci I would have really liked to try a few of their appetizers that I noticed on their website. The couscous was delicious and I think this was the first time I ever really tried Moroccan cuisine so I don't have anything to compare it to. But I'll definitely hunt down the truck when next I'm in NY. Momos I never got to. There was quite the line and I was not that patient. But while I was walking the area I stumbled upon the Cupcake Crew and tried their maple bacon cupcake. Wow, that was incredible. Although I think bacon makes most things taste better. In all it was a pleasant day with delicious food a relaxed atmosphere and I can't wait until next year's.

Originally from Portland, Maine, the cousins later settled in Southern California. Impressed with the Los Angeles food truck industry, they decided to start selling Maine lobster in the L.A. area. Lobster was typically viewed as a pricey delicacy, only served in precious portions at fancy restaurants. The cousins saved up enough money to buy a food truck. East Coast transplants raved about the authenticity, freshness and the copious amount of meat in the lobster rolls. Their success really took off after they were featured on an episode of the TV series "Shark Tank". The brand expanded, more food trucks were bought, and the first brick & mortar location opened in West Hollywood in 2015. As of 2026, the chain has 65 food trucks and two restaurants throughout 30 states as well as Washington, D.C. I recently sampled some of Cousins Maine's delicious lobster when I saw one of their trucks at a local brewery. The "Greater Boston" truck travels all across Eastern Massachusetts to stop at breweries, wineries, and various markets and festivals. I had previously sampled food from the "Greater Connecticut" truck. The menu consists of items made from Maine lobsters, such as Maine Lobster Rolls, Connecticut Lobster Rolls, lobster quesadillas, lobster tacos, lobster grilled cheese, lobster bisque, as well as New England Clam Chowder. After looking over the menu, I decided to order some "Lobster Tacos" (Maine lobster served with cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro lime sauce, flour tortillas). They were simply divine and paired well with the beers that I was having at the brewery. I give Cousins Maine Lobster my seal of approval and I hope to see one of their trucks again!
