I have been to a couple of All'Antico Vinaio chains in Italy during my trip. This restaurant was my go-to place for quick grab-and-go on my trip. The Quality of the product is almost the same as in Italy. The quality of the sandwich is great, but it did not feel the same to me. The service was fabulous; the staff was friendly and assisted my friend, who was visiting the chain for the first time.
I've been to the All'Antico Vinaio in New York and wanted to try this location in Boston. The line moved pretty quickly and I got the la schiacciata del boss. The truffle and prosciutto go so well together, and the bread was perfectly toasted. It is an expensive sandwich, though I usually get two meals out of it. It'd also be nice to be able to have some addons, like more veggies!
Food was great, crunchy bread and amazing flavor. Staff was super fast and friendly. I was just visiting for work and wish I had one close to me. I would visit all the time.
4.5 stars. There are a couple of tables, but think of this place as a takeout/pickup spot, as it's super busy, noisy. A Florence, Italy import that's getting a lot of attention. Yes, does remind me of places in Italy, where qualityof ingredients is paramount, bread important, etc. It's a fast paced place, and the line moves quickly... they have it down. I wanted to love fall in love with it, but have to say, the two I tried did not blow me away. I liked LA SUMMER Proscuitto, Mozzerella, Tomato, Basil better than their top selling FAVOLOSA made with salame toscana, pecorino cream, artichoke cream, and spicy eggplant. Think next time I will try the VENICE BEACH Turkey, tomato, mozzarella. The sandwiches are huge, more like 2 sandwiches, so pricing is fine. RECOMMENDED
Life is short..F...it up ! Family, Flavor, Friends Was in Boston for the day, sindenit was on my list decided to walk over. No line which was good. For the Boss and fabulouso. Both were tasty and good quality cut meats. The spicy plant was a pleaser umami with a lil kick. For some reason one bread was soft while the other was hard. Don't forget to add the olive oil in the bread before taking a bite. Overall a high quality sandwich worth checking out. Would inwait an hour in line hmmmmm

The meat/toppings are plentiful & the focaccia is fresh & really stands out. The second best part is the addition of wine. The worst part is only one meat is allowed, which I did not see noted anywhere. The second worst part is the lack of seating. It was tough finding a spot to sit & enjoy the sandwich & wine. This hopefully improves as the trendiness dies down. This place is worth trying if in the Back Bay Area but if not I would stick with the sandwiches in The North End, at least until the lines die down.
While in Boston, my husband stumbled upon an article about a new All'antico Vinaio opening up right in the heart of Downtown so we knew we had to go check it out for lunch yesterday! If you've ever heard of All'antico Vinaio, you know it originates from Italy, but they also have locations in places like New York and Las Vegas. We arrived sometime after 12pm and there was already a line out the door. We waited about 35 minutes in line before ordering. I loved ordering at the counter and watching the employees make the sandwiches - they cut the meat fresh to order right in front of you too. They have 2 full glass cases of spreads and toppings that made my mouth water! There were 3 of us so we decided to split their La Favolosa and their La Schiacciata Del Boss. Both sandwiches were differently unique, but super tasty in their own way. The bread on the Del Boss was salty and buttery and I also loved the Truffle Spread. The sandwiches are huge, but still very light and worth the price ranging from $15 to $19. As they just opened 5 days ago, they aren't serving alcohol yet, but they do have wine on their menu. They offer canned Italian drinks and sodas as well. The inside is pretty spacious with tables inside and outside. Overall, we really enjoyed our sandwiches and will definitely be checking out another location in the future. Check them out - you will not be disappointed!
Got the Italiana. It had Prociutto, stracciatella, sun dried tomatoes, arugula, and pistacio cream. The sweet and creaminess from the pistachio cream, the saltiness from the prosciutto, and the arugula and sundried tomatoes helped prevent it from being too heavy. I thought everything was quite balanced. The sandwich was about $21. Which I thought was reasonable because it was big enough to feed two people. There werent much of a wait when I was there, so service was quick. You order at the counter and they make your sandwich. Just tell them what you want and Bada Bing, Bada boom: you got your sandwich in a couple of minutes. They have seating inside and out. It was a nice day so my gf and I decided to do a picnic outside on the grass at the Boston Common. Nothing like enjoying a nice sandwich and watching all the sketchy weirdos walking around.
UM 1000% yes!!! I love a great focaccia sandwich, especially those made with thinly sliced imported Italian deli meat. These sandwiches are handcrafted with love. The shop, while busy, runs like a well-oiled machine. The staff is kind and works quickly to push out the BEST sandwiches I have had stateside in a while. While on the pricer side these sandwiches are HUGE and can easily be split between multiple people. That being said, there are so many fantastic options you won't want to get just one. If you're in the Back Bay Area you have to give them a shot!

They use delicious focaccia and fresh ingredients and if you eat in, they offer beer, wine and spritzes. I got La Broadway with pistachio cream, stracciatella, sun dried tomato, spicy zucchini and arugula and it was pretty good but I couldn't really taste the pistachio and the zucchini was a little too spicy for me. I'll go back and try a different one next time.
Well that was disappointing. I'd seen the lines and walked in one day seeing the bread thinking I will be back. Well this was the week, no lines. Long perusal of the menu and decide on The Diplomwt at $17. I was surprised how many sandwiches didn't include lettuce and tomatoes and real cheese. This did have sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, a prosciutto type meat and some parm crema I think. They add a little olive oil at the end. Got it home and taste nothing but the bread, which was good. The meat was chewy and I just didn't really get any kick of flavor. I'm a carb addict so that was good and the people were nice but it's a lot for a boring sandwich.

I ordered takeout from this place. I got the genovese with turkey. The sandwich was delicious. The turkey tasted fresh and the pistachio cream with the pesto was an exciting new flavor to try. The sandwich itself was huge which was perfect for leftovers. I can't wait to try going in person when I have the chance.
Incredible - just about identical to what I had at the Florence location. It might be sad, but my day trip from Providence RI to Boston was centered around getting a sandwich here. I got the La Paradiso which has Mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream and pistachio ($19). The focaccia bread is out of this world, and I absolutely love the combination of creamy stracciatella with pistachio cream and mortadella. Their sandwiches are massive, and while I am able to finish one no problem, the average appetite would have two meals out of one sandwich. La Paradiso was the same sandwich I got in Italy so I gotta mix it up next time. The service is quick and friendly. read more

Wow!! What a sandwich. We tried 3 sandwiches my favorite was the presidio the pistachio cream was amazing. This is a game changer sandwich place. My husband got the vegetarian with seasoned eggplant, zucchini and sun dried tomatoes. It was delicious but I prefer meat. Also tried the hot Italian; good but presidio took the #1 spot for me. I'd love to try the other selections. Definitely a must try place. read more

Got the L'Italiano and The Italian Hot. We asked for no nduja, but it was still added to the sandwich. While both sandwiches tasted good, they were severely lacking in meat and felt like a complete ripoff for the price. The sandwiches are also overpriced. Two sandwiches and two drinks came to about $50, which is hard to justify. Decent flavor, but poor execution and terrible value. Not worth the hype. read more
I was really excited to try this place but I feel like the sandwiches weren't as amazing as I had hoped. The focaccia was nice and fluffy, but the sandwich ingredients were just okay. It was a lot of meat and cheese, plus with the focaccia, it's quite heavy. I think I would've liked a more balanced sandwich. I'm glad I tried but I don't think I'd get this regularly. read more

Ok, this place is so hyped but the sandwiches looked amazing and finding a place with mortadella on the menu is hard. The IG hype did not disappoint this time; 100% worth it. The line is long but moves fast, ingredients are fresh and the bread is amazing. I got La Paradiso and it was everything I thought it would be, I absolutely loved it and would get it again. Hopefully once the newness wears off, the lines won't be as bad and you'll actually be able to get a seat inside. read more
These sandwiches are great! We ordered the L'Italiana and the La Calvino. Be prepared to wait in line, but service is quick once you get to the counter and place your order. The establishment was clean and bright, and there are a few tables inside for dine-in. read more
I wanted to see what the hype is for, the truth for me is that a vegetarian sandwich is not worth it. You might get your meat from Italy if that's why you go , but I won't do it. The ingredients are fresh and it's a decent size for $14. read more
Worth the 1/2 hour wait in line! I expected just another sandwich...what I got was delicious and savory in every bite. They make each sandwich fresh to order, with fresh baked bread and meat that they slice while you are there. The pistachio cream they put on is phenomenal (and I'm usually either way on pistachios). And it goes so well with the cheese they spread in it - Stracciatella (the inside of Burrata). And the L'Italiana has fresh prosciutto on it. Phenomenal! Go here and be prepared to wait...then take your sandwich to the park or to the Charles River. What a welcome gift to Copley Square in Boston. read more
So hyped they opened a spot in Boston. The line was out the door but moving pretty fast. I got the La Calvino and all the meat was sliced to order. The star of the show was their sandwich bread. I had a pretty mid experience, which may be due to it being their opening week. I have been waiting for All'antico Vinaio to open in Boston for month! Their Instagram following and photos have drool worthy photos and videos from their customers across the country and ocean. However the Boston branch was a miss. The sandwiches are all mostly $19, and after tax and tip expect to pay around $24-28. The experience is like any other sandwich shop. You wait in line, you order at the counter, they make your sandwich, you pay for it. There is seating indoor and outdoor or you can take it to go. Now here is what needs improvement: - the counters were very messy, the areas where the food is kept was also messy, with some toppings fallen on others in the display. This raises a cross contamination and cleanliness concern. My sandwich, although wrapped was covered in spreads from the previous customer's order and I had to use napkins to wrap it clean. - the meat is sliced to order, but it's the same machine slicing all meats. If you don't eat a certain meat, high chance of cross contamination. No cleaning in between slicing. - price: I paid just over $24 for mine and this meal definitely wasn't worth the price. Tiny sandwich definitely did not match the photos on their social media where the sandwich had a lot more toppings I'm skeptical if I'll be back or wait a long time in line. It definitely didn't seem to live up to the hype. Perhaps they are going through their openings ups and downs. read more

Went on opening day and loved everyone there! The workers are super enthusiastic and very efficient, so even if the lines are long it moves pretty quickly. We tried the favolosa and the paradiso (recommended by the owner!) and both were so good! The pistachio cream on the paradiso was really nutty and added a nice crunch to the sandwich. The favolosa was also packed with meat and a little spicy from the eggplant. You can't go wrong with any sandwich, and you can sample any of the meats before ordering too! The shop is really spacious inside and you can see all the toppings while they make everything. The bread comes steaming hot, and the meat and veggies are fresh! The hype, the endless stream of customers, the sheer audacity of bringing Florentine sandwich mastery to Boston, it all built up an anticipation I haven't felt for a lunch spot in years. Even the scene outside, while actively detracting from the experience, became part of the mystique. You have the long line weaving down the sidewalk, and then the chaotic, frustrating reality of the illegal delivery vehicles, jarring at each other, frustrating atmosphere that made the exterior feel less like a culinary destination and more like a third-world delivery hub. Yet, I stood there, convinced the payoff would be worth the visual assault. Inside, the craftsmanship only amplified my hope. Watching the professionals work, the efficiency of the meat slicer, the masterful layering by the sandwich makers. Everything pointed to greatness. And yet, the disappointment was profound. Did I say that enough? We didn't just try one; we were committed. We ordered four different sandwiches, cut them into quarters, and had three people sample everything, searching for that promised moment of transcendence. That moment never arrived. We were looking for the "ummph," the kind of flavor that makes you close your eyes and need ten minutes to savor the taste. Instead, what we got was just... decent. Perfectly acceptable, yes, but sorely lacking that certain something that makes a sandwich legendary. There was no debate about getting back into the long line for more. The debate, sadly, centered on whether we should simply toss the remnants of the four expensive sandwiches or if they were worth saving. We stored them away for a desperate midnight snack, confirming that their value was strictly utility, not culinary ecstasy. All'antico Vinaio is so close to being a masterpiece. They have the pedigree, the ingredients, and the skill, but the final, essential element--the unforgettable, craveable flavor--was missing. read more
I'd been wanting to try out this sandwich shop for the longest time and knew I had to stop by while I was in the area. Walked in around 1pm on the weekend and there was a pretty long line, though all the workers were very efficient and tried to get to everyone's orders as quickly as possible. I ended up getting The Paradiso, specifically because it came with a pistachio cream and stracciatella. When I told them I had a gluten allergy, they were very careful about preparing my sandwich with pre-packaged gf bread in a separate area, which I really appreciated. The person at the cash register gave me a heads up that it usually takes about 5-10 minutes longer when preparing a sandwich to accommodate food allergies, but I was totally fine with waiting. All the sandwiches are priced around $15-$20 and I believe there's a slight surcharge with gf bread. Overall, it was an enjoyable sandwich albeit pricey. I would've expected a slightly larger portion of protein for the price I was paying, but I appreciated how fresh all the ingredients tasted and how well all the flavors went together. The pistachio cream is pretty rich and definitely gets a bit heavy/greasy for those with a lighter stomach, and I also noticed that it caused the bread (at least the gf bread) to become soggier than I anticipated, so it was kind of a mess to actually eat. Like many others have said, I'd recommend splitting a sandwich if you're not too hungry, as I doubt leftovers would hold up well. read more

My friends and I arrived around noon on Sunday and there was a line you can see instantly when you open the door. There were plenty of tables around and people leave pretty fast so it was not hard finding seating. The line moved a bit slow, but the sandwiches were prepped within a reasonable time. We ordered the L'Italiana and the truffle special at the time. The sandwiches were decent sized, but still a bit pricey. I liked the truffle special sandwich more than the L'Italiana. It was pretty savory, which is what I preferred. I really enjoyed the truffle prosciutto and the sandwich tasted more balanced to me. The L'Italiana was good, but I found the pistachio flavor overpowering. It was not super sweet and had a decent amount of arugula. All the ingredients tasted really fresh and delicious, which was nice. I was a bit sad by the lack of consistency in their bread though. It tasted a bit dry in the L'Italiana, but the bread in the special tasted fluffier and softer. Nonetheless, for the price point, I will not come here too often unless I am craving an Italian sandwich. read more
