Since Covid, they opened up their backyard which is heated and they accommodate your every need. Although they only serve brunch on the weekends, it's absolutely worth the wait. Absolute hidden gem in Brooklyn. The food is absolutely delicious, genuine flavors, clean and fresh. The Appetizers, main courses were incredible. Had two pizzas, Charlie and mushroom pie. From the lasagna, gnocchi , short rib pappardelle, and tortellini all very flavorful and delicious. We ended up trying all four desserts and it was the best decision. Will totally be back. I tried this place again because I remembered that at the very least it had good food. Well now it's after new management and truth be told it's a whole lot worse. Let me start by saying that the restaurant was empty only one other seated couple. I waited 15 minutes to place my order. I took maybe 6 minutes decided what I was going order and after telling the waiter that we were ready to order he continued to serve water glasses to all the other 15 empty tables before he finally came back to take our order. This should have been the signed for me to run out of this place and after everything was said and done I wish I had left at that moment. I waited for 45 minutes for a Montrealer which pretty much is a fancy way of say a croissant, egg and cheese with a bed of arugula and hash and a Portobello Mushroom and Kale Scrambler which is a fancy way of saying scramble eggs with mushroom and kale. 45 minutes and during our wait not once did the waiter come over and check in to see if we got our drinks or need more water or to say hi. Nothing!!!! Why this took so long I have no idea. Our drinks Matcha Latte and Regular Latte took 1 hour to be served. At the 55 minute mark I told the guy to take it off the bill that I didn't want the drink. His excuse was that there's two new people being trained and that the girl making drinks hasn't been trained to pull the drink orders from the POS system. Funny because she had no issue pulling all the other drink orders after mine and make her own drink. After he said he would comp the drinks and bring them anyways the manager walks over and says that they will only comp one drink (that they would get in trouble if they comp the two drinks) for the wait. At this point we had already finished our meal and told the manager if that was the case we didn't want them. She said gladly with a terrible attitude and took the drink back and walked away huffing and puffing "that she didn't need this" "that she's 5 minutes away from walking out". At this point I asked her for the bill I just want to be gone. 5 minutes later she walks back and slams the drinks and says here you can have them I figured out how to comp them. I tell her I'm good I am not about to drink a drink that was served, taken out of view for five minutes and then brought back out and reserved. That is just disgusting, restaurant 101 you know you are not suppose to do this. This people need to watch a chef Ramsey show to learn how it needs to be done. At this point I asked for my bill again. After anther 5 minutes I asked my waiter for the bill again and he just ignored me the manager from the bar scream "you still haven't gotten your bill, unbelievable" and she huffs and puffs again. She did apologize and I told her about the long wait time for the food and the drinks and she point blank said "those issues have nothing to do with me. Those are other people issues and you should take it up with them" why does this place employe a manager that doesn't take any responsibility. She did mention that there is only one cook cooking and that he must of been backed up and I pointed out that the restaurant was empty and there couldn't be any other orders. She then changed and said that since I got hash browns that all the potatoes are picked and peeled and shredded per order and then fried and counted. Are you kidding me he portion side was one potato and your telling me that it took 45 minutes. I hate people that lie and try to make you feel stupid. Finally after waiting for 15 minutes my bill finally comes and it's for $28.31 I sign it and give No Tip! They run my card and I walk out... and that should be the end of it but it's not because when I get my card alert I see that the ran my card for $45.18!!! I had to walk back to informed them that they over charged and and she stated that the man who took my order had left another ticket open and it was not her fault that she ran my card against that ticket and there was nothing they could do about it. That they have a new system and that she "can't be bothered with this bullshit" that "she frustrated and have been working 9 days straight and today was suppose to be her day of yet she's here and she wasn't suppose to be here". Are you insane you overcharged me and there is nothing that you can do about it!!!! She says that only the owner Lillian can do something about it yet no one knows when this Lillian will show up. I ask her if she can please contact the owner and let me know what her ETA is and she says no if I call her she's going to say "stop calling me your slowing me down". Are you serious!!!! read more

I came here today for bunch with my sister and loved it! The backyard patio area is SO cute. They now serve cocktails. I had the watermelon drink (forget the proper name), it was really good and refreshing. My sister enjoyed her mimosa. The zucchini frittata was light, fresh and delicious. Blessings Cafe is a nice addition to Lefferts Garden or Flatbush, whichever name tickles your fancy. It's a very simple and modern space with wooden tables and chairs, white walls, and chill music. There's a little bar area to grab a seat alone as well as tables. I stopped in on a whim for breakfast--3 egg scramble with arugula and bread--which was bigger than I thought it would be. The staff was extremely welcoming and I felt comfortable enough to sit down and do some work while I eat despite all the families and couples around me eating. It all depends on what you go there for. There's also a backyard but I didn't go back there. I give Blessings 4 stars because everything was pretty good except the lighting. It was a little too dim for those of us who come to work or study. read more

We came in at around 1pm on a Friday for brunch - the place was already packed, because I guess people do Friday brunch now? (Our excuse was that we came in after a thesis defense presentation at school. So.) We ordered aperol spritzes and lattes, which came in HUGE glasses and cups - I'm really not being hyperbolic, just take a look at the photo I posted. That matcha latte was huge and filling. I ordered the three-egg scramble with a side of bacon - the scrambled eggs and mushroom were a tad undersalted, and the bacon was a tad overcooked, but otherwise, I really enjoyed my food. Also the French toast, which we shared as a table, was impeccable. There's a decent amount of seating and the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. I came here for a phase 2 (lol) covid breakfast with my mom and cousin. We made reservations online and were sat on their back patio. It was well shaded and had a fan for a nice breeze. They used shrubbery and distance to keep the tables apart and it's a pretty small patio so probably only 3-4 parties could be sat at once. All of the employees were very kind and our waitress gave great service. Between us we had the ride and shine, Montrealer, and hot sausage and broccoli rabe panino, and the pancakes (which I didn't see the full order on the menu but cake with 2 lasagne cakes, blueberries, chocolate chips and I believed a cream cheese frosting for $12). Each dish was accompanied with a lightly dressed arugula salad and the crispiest hash browns ever that bordered potato chips and were therefore delicious. Despite being one of the few Italian restaurants in the area, the place wasn't busy on a Saturday night. The atmosphere and dim lighting is perfect for a date night and our server was attentive, asking to refill our bread bag during our meal and refilling our water while checking in on us. Our dishes tasted okay, but not amazing. We got the Meat Lasagna and the Chicken Milanese with a parmesan crust. The lasagna was portioned well, but the pasta was overcooked and tasted so mushy that it blended with the meat and the sauce like a purée. Now on to the Chicken Milanese. The breaded chicken was covered with some arugula and a few cherry tomatoes cut in halves. The chicken was tasty but left us hungry, waiting for more. It would have been great if it came with a form of starch like, I don't know, potatoes. That's when we really appreciated our server's asking us if we'd like more bread because we definitely needed it to not have to order yet a third overpriced entree. Although I think the dishes were pricey for their value, the dining experience wasn't bad and the restaurant is definitely a good option for the neighborhood to take your visiting parents to or simply for a date night. read more

Came here for lunch on a weekday with some girl friends and we scored seats without waiting. The place is small and definitely has a hipster vibe but the staff is friendly. We ordered a few items to share which includes: "The Montrealer" Breakfast Sandwich, which is bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and it comes with hash brown except their version are fried potato stix (you know, those chips that are little potato stix). We also ordered the Breakfast Chillaquilles (Corn Tortilla, Beef, Black Beans, Guacamole & Fried egg), the Portobello Mushroom, Roasted Tomatoes & Cheddar Scramble and a side order of pancakes. The sandwich was good but too greasy and nothing really special. It's an overpriced breakfast sandwich. (shrug) The chillaquilles sort of reminds me of huavo rancheros minus the tomato sauce. Way too much black beans in my opinion. The mushroom cheddar scramble was ok. The pancakes were a bit dry unless you douse it with syrup. Overall, a solid 3 for food. One thing that did bug me was how they have their utensils in a metal box with napkins already set out on the tables. We couldn't find enough forks and napkins in our utensil box or the empty table next to ours. On top of that, the bottom box was wet so all the napkins were half wet. It's a bit gross. read more

Bonafini seems to be a popular spot in the neighborhood. It is on the smaller side, so there is a wait to be seated especially on the weekend, which is when I went. Have I mentioned recently how much I love this place? Even on their off days they are totally on! We stopped in over the weekend and the owner stopped by our table to apologize for the long wait, lamenting that she had two brand new waiters on staff that day. Had she not told us, we may not have even noticed! They also recently added more seating to the main dining room, which has been wonderful. It has definitely cut down on the wait for a table. I love coming in on Saturday mornings when they have wonderful live jazz! When it comes to the food, I am a creature of comfort. I always order the same thing, the Montrealer sandwich. It's basically a bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant, but they add mustard and maple syrup and serve it up with an arugula salad and hashbrowns. One day, I will definitely try something else on the menu, but it's so hard when you've found the perfect brunch meal. They also have baked goods brought in from a local bakery. First, service. I mean they do smile but the guy just loved to flirt with their customers while forgetting we sat there for a solid 40 minutes. This is record-long wait time for me in any restaurant in the city. During the wait, nobody even bothered to ask us anything(yet have time chitchat with our neighbors). Then food came, no apologies whatsoever. Then, food. French toast are not supposed to be a brick where outsiders is burnt while inside is not fluffy. This is the exact opposite of french toast. Then, they put creme cheese and preserved food on the side. Yes creme cheese instead of whipped cream- your typical "I am trying to be different but failed epically" try. The preserved food(peach and berry) is also horrible, extremely syrupy and lack the taste of the real fruit. They do put a ton of maple syrup on top of the burnt bread, but guess what, the bottom layer just got none of the syrup and you are serious just eating a burnt toast brick with creme cheese and preserved fruit. PLG doesn't have that many good brunch place, I get it, but to hell this place deserves a decent rating. read more

I like this little cafe, they made the most of the intimate space however I was not wowed to go beyond three stars. The portions are pretty big and they like to serve big hunks of bread. Ahhhh my weakness *salivates* bread. My olive toast was toasted too hard for me to enjoy it fully. The blueberry pancakes are drowned in a pleasing blueberry compote and unsweetened yogurt. Its a nice hipster spot and truly a hidden Brooklyn gem. It can get pretty packed during holidays and space is limited so I strongly suggest making reservations. Hospitality galore. As soon as me and my little man walked in, we were greeted before we took our next breath. Waiting time was less than a second; we were seated right away. My son wanted plain pancakes and orange juice (it's not on the menu as plain but you can request it) and I ordered the sweet potato and broccoli rabe frittata with cappuccino. The staff was very accommodating and so, so, so friendly. The wait for food was a tiny bit long but when our plates came out, the food was fresh and delicious. The frittata look like a mini sweet potato pie with the salad decorated on top with lime alolit. My son got three pancakes with syrup, blueberry puree and chocolate chips on the side. He was like "Whoa!!! This is so big!" Lol. The waitresses always checked on us to make sure we were good especially since my son can be picky. They are very child-friendly. Great neighborhood place for brunch, live jazz on the weekend. It's popular and super packed, but they were pretty efficient at getting people seated. We waited maybe 10-15 minutes, 12:30pmish on a Sunday. (Make sure your friends arent too late because they won't seat you til everyones arrived.) I had the Montrealer which was delicious and loose hashbrowns is probably the best thing about this! Maple Bacon, Eggs over easy and a nice light arugula salad with a light citrus dressing ($14). My friend had the vege frittata which came with a baguette, looked good and very filling. Also came with arugula and a citrus mayo dressing on top. Last time I came I had the Pastrami Salmon with Egg on chunky olive bread toast, which was yummy (but easily replicable at home). Their iced coffee was a bit lackluster, so I had a grapefruit juice ($4) this time, all served in mason jars. A solid choice when you dont wanna hike it to Manhattan, will definitely be back. Jazz was good. The brunch menu does change periodically, so interesting what will be available next time. Would love an Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon though! Service was decent given how busy they were, they take card and cash. This is such a solid place to grab brunch on the weekend. They have a pretty solid menu so you are bound to find something you will enjoy (I have never had anything I didn't like). If you like sweets, they have you covered. If you go for more savory dishes, they have you covered. On my last visit I got the Montrealer (for the third time) and it never disappoints. The person I was with got the chocolate and blueberry pancakes. And while I don't typically go for sweets for breakfast/brunch, I could've eaten those pancakes all day. Note: they hide the chocolate in between the two pancakes in the very middle. We had to go on a treasure hunt for it but once you find it, OMG! The space has a pretty tight and busy vibe, so beware with coming in larger parties than 4-5. They also have live music on the weekends which adds to the full experience. The coffee is decent. Stay away from the iced coffee as it is already pretty weak, then they add a bunch of ice which eventually melts making it even more watered down. Go for the yummy food, go for the live music, go because it's the best brunch spot in this neighborhood, whatever you do, go! read more
