Nice hipster cafe. I went here with my dad for dinner last night because we wanted something close by and healthy. I got the red snapper on fennel and my dad got the steak frites with salad instead of fries. We also ordered the salted caramel apple pie and the chocolate pecan pie for dessert. My portion of snapper and fennel was pretty small for $18 I thought. It was really good though! I just wish they had put more grapes on it. There were only like 4 grape halves - not enough for all the snapper. The fennel was also delicious. The steak was delicious too, but the salad wasn't very good. We didn't finish it. I think it was just arugula with a light dressing. I didn't like it. The pies were both delicious! Service was good too. read more

I had my birthday party here. I knew I wanted to have it here when my 1 year old previously broke a vase while eating at Bonafini and the owner, Lilly, was so nice and understanding about it, saying that she loves when families come and eat, and things like this happening is just part of hosting families. My party went swimmingly. Impeccable service, delicious cocktails, and beautiful atmosphere on the patio. The food is delicious! The appetizers and pastas are all sensational. Bonafini is an asset to this neighborhood. Everyone should stop in and eat. Thank you to Lilly and the servers for making my birthday party feel so special. read more

I grew up on Flatbush... This place is what I think of when I think of 2017 Brooklyn... Take that how you want to take it... The food is great, they had live music. The smaller the party the better as there's limited space. Great for brunch dates where you are too in love with each other to overhear or be bothered by typical millennial conversations, ha! read more

What a tremendous spot. Love this PLG haunt. Wonderful for all meals. This is a real gem.

Food was good and what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. We especially liked the calamari and fried zucchini and the stuffed zucchini flowers. As a main, the gnocchi was decent but nothing special. One thing that was tough though is the temperature of the restaurant. We went on a summer evening and it was stifling hot in there, almost warmer inside than out which made it hard to enjoy the food... read more

Hippy and Trendy Mocha was great. Blueberry and chocolate pancakes were good (imo chocolate made them slightly worse). French Toast was quite bad actually. The brioche bread is cut into cubes causing them to be quite hard, as in too crispy. It was difficult to even taste the flavor and texture of the custard (assuming there was one) because the bread was just too hard. The apple? slices are cut but served cold are quite sour. If they were maybe heated on a pan and turned into a sauce they might have saved the dish. Service was good. read more

Staff is super friendly and lovely. The drinks were aromatic and subtle. The food left a bit to be desired. The texture of the pappardelle was delicate and chicken schnitzel was perfectly crisp but the flavor was just bland and flat on both fronts. The "crispy potatoes" side dish for $10 was maybe six slices of potatoes that were in no way crispy. Not really sure when $10 fried potatoes turned into a small dish. Not going back, we felt pretty unsatisfied. read more

This place is awesome! Convenient location, great friendly service, and it is very clean inside. A live band plays jazz while you dine. Did I mention that this place will not break the bank whatsoever. Perfect for a quick bite. Brunch was lovely; I had the chocolate chip blueberry pancakes with french vanilla iced coffee. This place will definitely see me again without hesitation. read more

The cutest breakfast spot in Flatbush! Okay, so I was only in Brooklyn upwards of 10 hours but I for one can't imagine anything better, and we haven't even gotten to the food! Space is fairly limited but on a Monday morning, we snagged a spot by the window. Ok, ok, let's get to the good stuff, let's talk brunch. Bae and I split the Montrealer and yogurt with granola! Everything was great but the croissant sandwich was borderline out of this world. The sides of greens and home fries were just as appreciated as the sandwich! This girl loves some crispy home fries and these were awesome! So moral of the story? Check it out! read more

I went here for brunch during a business trip. When I say it was packed, "it was packed!". The locals love this place and I can see why. Excellent customer service, fun environment, GREAT FOOD!!!. Bonafini is just alright, in my opinion. I probably would have given three stars, but the he pasta we ordered (ricotta tortelloni in butter/sage) was way better than expected and the focaccia they provide for the table is really great quality. Everything else was just okay/'meh' for the price. Service was friendly enough, but just kind of a boring atmosphere. read more

I can only comment on the coffee, as I have yet to try the food. SHAKERATO! Try the shakerato. If you like iced espresso drinks, you will love this. Here, they serve it very well shaken and foamy. No milk. This place is also an herbal apothecary and they have some very interesting preparations and knowledge to dole out on the herbal side of the shop. The staff is super friendly. I am excited to see what they do with the place as they continue to get it more established. After reading my fellow Yelpers' reviews, I see I will have to try to the food! read more

I was here yesterday after stopping in brooklyn. This placeis sort of in the cut and I almost missed it. I heard great things about it and it was the only place that seemed to be open at 8:30 on Flatbush. The breakfast menu is limited but so worth trying. I got the breakfast platter which was Scrambled eggs with parmesan cheese, two slices of the best bacon i've had in awhile, two small pieces of toast, a salad (yes for breakfast) and home fries. First it's really hard to find a place that does eggs well. These were fluffy, solid, and fresh eggs. The store doesn't have an actual kitchen, it used hot plates to cook the food right there while you wait. It took a little longer, imagine the wait at an omelette station. The wait wasn't so long, we had a seat in the seating area that reminded you of home sort of. Mixed matched chairs, random sized tables and a fan blowing cooler air around. it was a nice set up, and definitely felt comfortable. Our food arrived and everything was delicious. My friend had the Eggs and Avocado w/o tomato. The eggs were perfect as well. Another friend had the Ridicio (sp) which has a combo cheese (goat/cow) {i think} inside the scrambled eggs. I believe it came with a tomato relish as well, served inside of a grain biscuit. Everything we got came with salad. It was weird to eat it in the am, but I cleaned my plate starting with the salad first. It was tossed in a light dressing balsamic I believe. The potatoes weren't typical home fries like here in "the south" but they were delicious either way. Again, I mentioned that my entire plate was cleaned because it was so delicious. I finished it all with an iced coffee which was delicious as well. On my way out I stopped pasted their mini pastry station. Filled with French Doughnuts, croissants, and other treats. I took them home for the ride home and ate a croissant this morning. I believe they are supplied by another bakery but either way, they were delicious and worth bringing back to DC. read more

++ - Avocado/strawberry salad is huge, filling and amazing (Don't forget to add cheese) + - For all the accolades on the bread products, I found the croissant to be quite regular - Small French press coffee is pretty large. It tastes alright, but It comes from a lareg server, and doesn't taste as good as the personal ones that come to the tables at other restaurants - Lot's of cool herbs and spices available to purchase - The aroma of rosemary fills the air +/- - You walk in, and suddenly, you're not in East Flatbush anymore. I know it's been a long time coming, but the feeling is absolutely insane from seeing this neighborhood ten years ago. The atmopsphere is like you are transportaed to park slope or a Greenwich Village caffe villa. - - Kind of disorganized? Are you supposed to order first, then sit? Are you supposed to sit first, then order? Who do you order from? (there's about 8 six people behind the desk doing various jobs from cooking to cashiering) Are you supposed to order, sit, then come up and get your food? Are there waiters? Can you go outside? None of this is explained - Lots of lingerers take up the already limited seating -It was poretty full at 11am on a Sunday read more

The service was amazing. The waiter continuously came up to ask if we needed anything and to see if we were enjoying our meals. I've previously visited for brunch and really enjoyed their brunch menu and brunch cocktails. My friend loved her espresso martini and I liked my Moscow mule. However, my friend's lasagna and my parppadelle was lacking flavor and tasted bland. The bread that came with our burrata was a bit stale and it was not fresh. I would def return for brunch and I would give it a second try for dinner, but I would order different items. read more

We went here two days in a row at the request of my boyfriend - but we both had the same exact meals both times because the pickings are kind of slim for the brunch menu. Both times we had to wait a bit (the space is pretty tight, the outside area was closed and it's very popular on the weekends), like maybe 15 - 20 minutes. On the upside the server was nice and the atmosphere is comfortable - I think there was live music on one of the days we went. I removed a star because they do not cater to people with certain dietary needs. Instead I was told to order something else instead of modifying a dish. read more

Came here for a weekday brunch (on Friday) and I was more than pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is perfect. What they make up for in small space is a homey and relaxing atmosphere. The seats are comfortable and you don't feel cramped, even with so many tables in a small area. The staff was great. They were friendly, helpful, and very prompt with orders and seating brunch parties. Everyone of the staff welcome us as we walked in and said good bye as we left. Brunch drinks. My friend had the mimosa and said she would highly recommend it. I had a hot chai tea latte and would argue that it is one of the best HOt chais in Brooklyn. Food. The quality of the food is fantastic. I had the kale and portobello scramble, my friends had the French toast and breakfast sandwich. All 3 of us were very satisfied with our choices and didn't leave hungry. The prices are also very reasonable. The only downside (and reason for the 1 star deduction) is that there are not that many options for brunch. I suppose you could build more options by ordering sides, but I'm not sure how that would work. Overall, I would say give this place a try and definitely order a chai if you're around for their brunch. read more

Just 2 weeks old and still finding its sea legs but from what I've experienced so far, Blessings is a breathe of fresh air and a great addition to the neighborhood. Came here for brunch and without a solid menu yet, the lovely owner recited what they were serving for the day. My boyfriend got the smoked salmon and pastrami sandwich with arugula and I got the French toast and bananas foster. Both were seriously, SERIOUSLY, delicious and filling. And the bill only came out to about $17. Score. This fairly spacious cafe is also great if you just want to come in for coffee and tea (I have yet to explore their selection) and read/work/what have you. If you forgot to bring a book, fear not...they have quite a number of books to choose from. LOTS of counterspace in the front and individual tables in the back. Welcome to the hood! Glad to have you :) read more

The cafe is located in an unexpected neighborhood on the east side of prospect park. Although the neighborhood itself is not too colorful, the cafe is opposite of its surrounding. The mismatched tables and chairs and hardwood floor gives off a relaxing atmosphere. The abundant of toys and colorfully painted toys yells, "welcomes family as well as board game loving groups." They serve full breakfasts and brunch with eggs, pancakes and apple cider, as well as, quick pastries and coffees for the busy morning bees. If it's cold outside you can sit inside near the windows for sunlight. If it's warm, they have a small backyard with seating. HOWEVER, and this is a BIG ONE, they have a open make-shift kitchen. I was there for about an hour and my clothing smelt of the food inside. I am wearing some fake leather jacket that generally rejects aroma absorption, so I am pretty shocked. Maybe the owner can get some quiet ventilation system? Or maybe just some standing foil to direct the smell elsewhere? Otherwise, I'll be hesitant to stay there, that is unless laundry day fall on the same day. read more

When you come from Europe and are used to your Pains au Chocolat in the morning, Blessings IS a blessing! Although it is quite expensive, the coffee there is fabulous, they have fresh orange juice (and you don't find that very often here!) and the bakery products are very good. The only problem is, when you eat in, the service is VERY VERY slow, and the brunches are not amazing. Good, but not amazing. If you are in a rush, just grab something and leave! The staff is also not the best either. They look a bit distracted and take their time. Not too horrible though! In general, I would say that if you can afford it, stop to get some stuff and go eat it somewhere else! The quality of the products are almost worth the prices, but don't stay in, or you'll stay for hours! read more

Super friendly staff and great Italian food with great wine selection. Don't miss out on brunch and the Bloody Marys!

This place was absolutely amazing the service was good the food was delicious and the drinks are strong I loved it. Came here for a late lunch and was generally happyish with the food. Nothing to rave or complain about. The customer service was what made one star disappear and the saltiness melted off another star. Our dishes were overall too salty, but we initially tried to just enjoy the meal and make the most of our date. When we got to the octopus dish, we literally could not swallow without involuntarily cringing. We called over our waitress and let her know casually that it was a little too salty but that the meal was still going okay. We politely sent the food back to the kitchen. The waitress could have been professional about it but her face just looked unimpresssed and unengaged the whole time. We got the dish back, but lol it was still... You got it... Too salty. We gave up and just finished our meal. I think if you came here for the outdoor seats with friends/casual outings, it is still worth coming. The vibe is good for hanging out with mates with some drinks. If your intention is a slow date i.e. talk and enjoy good food, I think you could go somewhere else for sure. read more

A blessed Sunday at blessings cafe. Blessings cafe is a cozy and rustic cafe in Prospect Lefferts gardens. After arriving early in the am we were seated close to the open kitchen which was quaintly located at the back of the cafe. I ordered a chai latte and my friend got a got chocolate. I must say I have had many chai lattes and this one by far was the best hot one I've had. They put so much nice and creamy foam on top of it. We ordered pancakes and I had a veggie scramble. The food was good and exceptionally fresh. I always when I eat out and the vegetables taste straight off the farm. It's definitely a place I would come back to especially since I live in the neighborhood... read more

Update: Went to Bonafini for the first time since the name change and enjoyed great service, good coffee and delicious food. The colors inside have changed from a green theme to blue, giving the space a nice face lift. Layout of tables now allow personal space for the patrons as the awkwardly large table up front has been traded in for a couple of real and normal sized dining furniture. The menu has also improved, keeping the old items but adding in a Lunch/Dinner and Sides section. We tried the Beef Short Rib sandwich and while it was tasty, the bread (even when toasted) was too soft and became soggy from the meat. This made it extremely messy and required you to eat it with both your hands and fork simultaneouslty. Even so, I'd still order it again and ask for the bread to be extra toasted for some firmness. Either way, this is a great neighborhood spot and we are lucky to have it nearby. read more

Brunch here is excellent with flavorful menu items while not being too expensive. Had the Brunch sandwich and girlfriend had the pancakes, overall excellent experience. Brunch is usually super expensive and quite disappointing. This place however was not, as it was, relatively, cheaper than most hip brunch spots and the food was quality. They took no shortcuts and you can tell they really put effort into the actual taste of their food. The brunch sandwich I had was a popular menu item and came with some fun hashbrowns. The sandwich itself was pretty rich and tasty with strong meat and cheese flavors while the hashbrowns were super thin and fried almost to a crisp. Girlfriend's pancakes were good too, having a saltier take on the pancake, preventing it from being overly sweet. read more

It looks a little too dingy for my tastes, and the food took a really long time. The people were nice and I can see how this spot might be appealing to others. A warm and inviting coffee shop/herb shop/plant shop with delicious pastries, baked goods and brunch specials. Came here with out if town visitors on a Saturday. The French press coffee was great and I thoroughly enjoyed my egg and Brie-like cheese scramble on a cheddar and chive biscuit with greens served with a decadent tomato jam. Lily, one of the owners, is a sweetheart and the staff is quite friendly. One might expect an air of pretense with a place this precious but it's just a great laid back welcoming vibe. One of the best brunches I've had in a while. Why 1 Star? Because going out to a restaurant is meant to be uplifting and a positive experience. When the manager (or owner?!) treats you like she is doing you a favor you came there, it all goes out the window. Rude and obnoxious behavior, barking on the guests and loads of attitude. Will never go back there even though the food was truly fantastic. In times like this, please make your guests feel welcomed instead of a nuisance. read more

Fabulous!! Delicious food, great drinks, nice atmosphere. Would definitely return. Very impressive overall experience.

This place is such a cute café! Being in close proximity to my house I was hoping that it will be my regular spot. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait a little bit, but were seated at the bar within 10 minutes. Unfortunately after my experience, I probably won't give it another try. As a frequent restaurant goer, the ultimate test of quality breakfast food (to me) is determined on whether or not I will get my eggs properly cooked - whether that is poached or over-easy. A lot of restaurants do not pay attention to that and I sometimes get very runny whites which practically ruins breakfast for me. I understand that it was a very busy Saturday brunch, but the waiter behind the counter didnt even ask once if everything was ok - meanwhile my bf sat there with an extremely disgusting blob of uncooked egg on top of his croissant and bacon. We ordered the "Montrealer" - a breakfast sandwich with one egg any style over maple smoked bacon and cheese on a croissant. It came with a side of home-fries and arugula salad. The home-fries are shredded potato, cooked very crispy. My bf liked his but I thought mine were too greasy. Both of our over easy eggs were undercooked but his much more than mine. He ended up simply taking it off the croissant. The only thing we genuinely enjoyed was the Bloody Mary. The place itself is very crowded and there are no hooks at the bar. I sat with my jacket, scarf and bag on my lap. read more
