This was one of those situations where nothing met my expectations. I checked the Yelp menu images before showing up to make sure that they served chicken tenders on the kids menu. Saw the price of $7.50 and thought it was a "normal" price for a sit down restaurant. I have been wanting to go here for awhile but realized why I never got around to it - it is in such a bad location. There is not a left hand turn lane into the parking lot. I didn't realize this so I had to go way down the street to turn around. A bit frustrating. Saw the sign that it was the best BBQ so my expectations was... this better be the best BBQ! Walking up and I liked the ambiance of the exterior. When I arrived at the host stand I was surprised the place wasn't more crowded for a lunch break during the weekend. We sat down and waited to be served. It wasn't so busy so I didn't know why it was taking a bit but I am very lenient because I have been in their shoes before. Ordered our drinks and asked if we had gotten anything for starters like a cornbread or bread while we wait - was kind of surprised this wasn't offered upfront. I looked at the menu and saw the prices on the Yelp images were very different than what was in front of me. The kids meal jumped to $9. I asked if they had a lunch menu and they did not. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich which only included one side for $17.50. I thought we'll this better be the best dang BBQ sandwich ever. The cornbread showed up... wasn't a fan. Greasy bland and in the shape of a hockey puck. Would of been better with some honey butter. I asked for honey on the side. The sandwich showed up and it was a pretty good side but looked so sad with my cup of mashed potatoes. Surely it would be better to have an extra side for the price and just the look of the plate. My sons $9 tender meal looked like it just was thrown together. I was so frustrated and what was in front of me knowing I would be paying $50+ for this lunch I wasn't expecting that I failed to get any pictures. The BBQ?? Meh. Joes BBQ in downtown Gilbert or Caldwell County Mexi-Q is hands down better than this BBQ sadly. But the icing on the cake... and probably what prompted this review even more so was the service. I don't think I got one smile or one ounce of feeling like I was being taken care of. In fact, I tried to use the Yelp 10% off coupon and told it was acceptable. She came back saying the Manager couldn't use it and here is $10 off coupon for next time. I'm sorry... there won't be a next time. I find it hard to believe that a manager can't use one of your coupons to take 10% off an order. In regards to the pricing, I understand inflation... and you have to make it somewhere. But at least make it a fun exciting worthwhile experience of I'm going to be paying so much more. That's all I ask. read more

Bobby Q in Mesa has a fantastic happy hour! We got $6 pitchers of hazy ipa beer and $6 burger sliders and fries!!! Now that's a deal and let me tell you those might be the best sliders I've ever eaten for how simple they are!! The meat was juicy and the buns were so soft and fresh. They were cooked to perfection! Not to mention you get free corn bread AND free doughnuts!!!! Those little sugar and cinnamon doughnuts were so tasty and they make them right in front of you at the check in desk! I've also had the wings there before and I loved them! They were smoked and they put the sauce on the side for dipping. This would make a great place for large gatherings as the restaurant is huge and really cool inside! We did a large family happy hour here once and everyone enjoyed themselves! Definitely check them out... they're wonderful!! read more

My bf took me out tonight and we went to Bobby Q in Mesa. We were here about 5 years ago and now it got really expensive. The calamari was not what I had expected it to be. I prefer Calamari Fries than the jumbo one presented. It was hard to grab a hold off and endless chewing. He did like his order though since he finished it. Unlike me, like I said, it was ok. I prefer the drinks as well as new items on the menu. I had some type of coconut/strawberry cocktail and he had beer on tap, I believe. And my food never made it to the pic because it was just a mess lol I had the beef brisket while he had the pulled chicken. Oh and we had a bag of donuts in the end that the waiter got for us. This place is nice for date nights and work lunch/dinner but if you're like me and my bf, we can't hear anymore so you gotta speak a little louder coz everyone is competing with everyone else talking we couldn't even hear our waiter so we just knodded . . When we were seated the waiter set the mood and lit the candle on our table. He said, "Let me light this up for you guys to set the mood on your date night" . . My bf looked at the menu as there was a new item listed on the apps and said, "I guess it was never meant to be Q Rolls. Instead we had Calamari." read more

This place is magic. If you want bbq, need bbq, love bbq, you will get it here. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the staff kept up with our party with ease. The brisket was my favorite, the beef ribs and pulled pork were all above my expectations. read more

Food was great! Ordered the Whole Hog with Brisket, Sausage and Beef Ribs with Pecan cole slaw (excellent slaw!) , shoe string potatoes and vegetable of the day (roasted brussel sprouts) Our favorite was the brisket but followed closely by the Beef Ribs and Sausage. For those of you who like a little adult beverage to accompany your meal, you have to try the Old Fashioned which besides being on point head a great presentation. Our server was Sara who was engaging, informative and made sure we were well taken care of. A definite return on my next trip to Arizona! read more

Food is amazing hand's down best corn bread ever. Ribs, brisket, corn, mac and cheese it was all delicious. Prime rib dip sanwich was ok, the meat was delicious the bread i would use a less soft bread. Appetizers we had cheese dip and rools of brisket both were delightful. Drinks are good prisela's dream what honestly brought me here was good but very disappointed i was not able to get it in a pig glass. Thanks to all of those who kept taking the pig glass. It is the small things thats count. I also had pineapple passion was also bomb. Over all a pleasant experience with great service. read more

What great service and food! Hubby and I went and enjoyed a nice dinner at the bar and were so impressed with our old fashions - thanks Josh! What impressed us more was the teamwork we saw all over and smiles! It was so refreshing to see a group of service co-workers helping each other while getting along, smiling and interacting with guests. We had several of the bar staff check in with us - even the manager Hunter. Every staff member wore a uniform and not yoga pants (my pet peeve). There must be some great leadership at this restaurant - it was so great! We will be back again soon! read more

The food is fantastic but one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. From out of town and sat at the bar. At one point, there were three people working the bar, more interested in chit chat than serving customers. I waited 20 mins for somone to take my drink order, another 15 for them to ask if I wanted to order food, another 35 for the food to arrive. Meanwhile, the group sitting next to me ordered their food 15 mins before me and waited 30 mins after my food came to get their food. The tension sort of ruined all of our meals. Don't think I'll be going back the next time I'm in town. read more

My favorite place! I come here every single Friday for happy hour with my boss and it NEVER disappoints, the food (especially the brisket), all the fun drinks and staff are all amazing. We were in town looking for a family friendly restaurant, and originally tried to go to the Organ Pizza place, but it was too crazy. We opted to go down the street and try Bobby-Q and it did not disappoint. There were 7 of us in our group and they sat us in 15 minutes, not bad for a busy night. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere and the service was excellent. We ordered the Q Rolls as an appetizer and then the Whole Hog Heaven for the table. It was delicious and there was something for everyone. We were all impressed by the food quality and portions. The food cannot be upstaged, but the drinks are so incredibly fun and unique. This place is a must visit when in Mesa. Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. read more

This was a great spot for a date night. The q rolls were so tasty as an appetizer. They were crispy, Smokey, and savory. The complementary corn bread was surprisingly delicious. It wasn't over sweet and the texture was spot on. It's so good, you don't even need butter. I had the brisket which, sausage, and chicken combo which came to deliver. The brisket didn't have as much internal flavor, but tasted just right with bbq sauce. The other proteins didn't disappoint. My slides were slaw and potato salad. I couldn't get enough of the slaw. My husband loved his corn side. Our server was friendly and attentive with great suggestions. Our donut holes at the end of the meal were fresh and a thoughtful touch to end a memorable experience of good food and hospitality. read more

This place was very underwhelming. I love BBQ but theirs was really under seasoned, and I'm not even a person who likes a ton of seasoning in general. The service was just ok. For it to be this expensive, you'd expect better food but I was just let down overall. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Yeah I don't get it. So many positive reviews and this is one of the most subpar bbq places I have ever been to. The ribs I got were straight up soggy. But not in a good way where the meat just fell off the bone. It was more like they just boiled in water and then just plopped it on my plate. Terrible. Not smoky. The cornbread we got had a sticker on it? Our server quickly replaced it. And the cowboy beans were sweet, bbq beans. Not at all what I would expect from ranch style beans. The old fashioned we ordered was way to sweet. Mid meal we both agree that we would never be coming again. It was just bad bbq. I will say though that the service was great. We liked our server. Only reason why I'm giving it more than one star. But holy cow. Some real sucky food. read more

Think we just found our new favorite restaurant! We loved the ambiance, look, smell, and flavors of Bobby Q! The menu alone had so many things we wanted to order so we already were planning a return trip before we ordered. The Q Rolls were a must, and while they were a little more $ than expected, totally worth it after the first bite. The chipotle ranch and bbq sauce they come with are so good you could almost spoon them alone. The cornbread was a little crumbly, but still tasted good. Only thought we had was that maybe a flavored (honey) butter would make it even better. We came craving a burger, so of course ordered the Smokehouse, along with the Prime Rib dip sandwich. Both were so full of flavor that we couldn't put them down. I will say the prime rib sandwich was a little on the salty side (even for a salt-lover like me), my guess is because the inside of the roll was toasted (perfectly, I might add, which is why I wasn't too upset about the salt). I even loved how when we asked for little containers for our leftovers, they just brought us all new sauces and aü jus. Such service! The only thing that felt even a little off about this place, was the tiny donuts we got to take home... somehow tasted like fried chicken. Not sure if this was intentional or not, but we just weren't expecting it and I'm not sure I would ever crave them. Overall... highly recommend this place and we can't wait to go back already!! read more

It is super easy to find as it is right off the fwy in the corner. Plenty of parking. There's a nice shady patio section with lush greenery around it. When you walk in the door you are greeted by 2 different podiums and we got a nice young lady helping us to our booth. Jennifer was our server and after welcoming us she asked if it was our first time or return guests. Being our first time she gave us the run down here on their cooking, smoking, etc, and about the foods, recommendations, and so fourth. We came on recommendation by the AzFoodGuy on insta and went with ribs and country fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Delicious!!!! They also have a cornbread that's good and unexpected. I like Q's aka Dave's in the LBC best still due to the fresh baked with corn chunks in it and sugar coated. Anyway, the ribs were delicious, but must use hands and bite in, hahaha. Jennifer was an awesome server and sent us on our way with mini donuts that taste like churros! We are glad we came, will return, and thank you AzFoodGuy! Here again for dindin this time! Hubby got the recommended chicken pot pie which is HUGE! And a baked potato-delicious (tested for him lol) and I got the bbq chicken salad and every bit of it. This was my first time at Bobby Q, and I'm glad I finally tried it. We were greeted by friendly hostesses and seated right away. Our server came to our table almost immediately to greet us. We told him it was our first time, and he welcomed us and explained the menu. The beer machine was down, which was a bummer because I was in the mood for a beer. My boyfriend wanted an espresso martini, which is not on the menu, but they were able to make him one. Our server brought us some cornbread. I prefer sweeter cornbread, but it was still good. My boyfriend and I both ordered the two meat combo. We both had the beef brisket, which we both agreed was amazing. I normally don't order brisket because I've had some very dry brisket, but not here. The brisket here was juicy and flavorful. I got baby back ribs as my second option, and my boyfriend got the spicy smoked link sausage (which he said was spicy). As our sides, we both got loaded baked potatoes. I ordered pecan cole slaw, which I thought was very good. Normally, I do not order cole slaw because it can be too sweet for me. This one was not, and the pecans just added a great crunch and flavor. My boyfriend ordered the mac & cheese, which he said was very good. It was a lot of food, and we could have easily split one meal, then we would have had room for dessert. They do send you he with complimentary donuts. The food is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it. If you check in on Yelp, you do get 10% off. I definitely recommend this place for a special occasion or if you just want some good BBQ. read more

The warm buttered corn bread medallions were the perfect to start. Priscilla's Dream came on a platter with a glass dome with dry ice making her "smoke" as they uncovered her. Then, she was strong and sassy, like a real sow! Presentation isn't everything, but it rated pretty high for this meal. Our food was SO delicious. The brisket was "melt in your mouth" moist. Finally, the cinnamon & sugar donuts tasted like little funnel cakes. My partner in crime wolfed them down, I barely got one! I enjoyed our waitress, Jenny, and her manager who got our order in while she took a big table when we first arrived. While we came mid-afternoon, I don't have a single complaint! read more

The service there was amazing ! I enjoyed the experience. My food came out perfect and all my entrees came to my table quick . Beautiful people and service itself I appreciate my server for being attentive. My only issue was the owner himself, right off the bat I noticed how he treated his employees and it wasn't in the best way to my acknowledgement , the reasoning was right when I got seated he stood right behind my server I personally felt uncomfortable. Very unprofessional in my opinion especially in the setting we were at since this is an upscale barbecue restaurant, that itself made it seem like his employee didn't know what he was doing but my experience told me otherwise they seemed very informed . It was my first time there with some co workers from my business to catch up, the drinks were amazing and I'm hoping next time I go I wouldn't have this issue again . read more

There are some things I really love about The White Rabbit and some that I didn't. Ambiance (3/5): When I think of a speakeasy, I think intimate. The White Rabbit is not that. It's pretty large for a speakeasy with a large bar and a good number of tables/booths. They weren't at capacity while I was there, but there were a good number of people there. Which made it pretty loud. To the point where you have to yell at your bartender when ordering your drink so they can hear you. Perhaps a much different experience on a week day. Getting in the speakeasy was both a hit and a miss. If you're subscribed to their email list, as I am, you get a different password every month. I was excited about this. Upon approaching The White Rabbit, I saw a sign naming the establishment and pointing me in the right direction. This takes away from the spirit of speakeasies which are supposed to be truly hidden without any signage identifying the restaurant. You'll see a velvet rope blocking a stairwell where you tell one of the bouncers the password. I had a reservation. If you don't know the password, as another party there didn't, they ask you to access a QR code to find out or ask others who are waiting. I appreciated the dedication to the cause. Once you get in, you walk down the stairwell, and then enter a cool hallway decked out with Prohibition-style decor. That leads you into the main room. The main room is also Prohibition-style though a bit unremarkable. The bathrooms are clean and also feature some cool paintings (and they also hide that they are actual bathrooms). With that being said, when I liked the hallway and the bathrooms better than the bar itself, that's a bit of an issue. Seats at the bar are bar stools without back support. Never fun for my old man back. I did, on the other hand, appreciate that they have free WiFi. Service (3.5/5): The service was generally pretty good, though a bit slow. They start you off with some water without asking you which is always a nice touch. It was just one of those situations where you have to put some effort into getting a bartender's attention on several occasions. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so no food for me. I did check out the menu. They have a small selection of appetizers, flatbreads, and desserts. Drinks (3/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I'm looking for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients and flavors. While The White Rabbit has a good number of cocktails, many of them didn't attract me. Part of it is a matter of personal preference. There were only two drinks out of about 20 that I was interested in. Overall, I wanted a little more, but with that being said, the drinks were reasonably priced for a speakeasy. Not a bad speakeasy by any means, I have super high standards when it comes to these watering holes. Just not in my top five when it comes to speakeasies in Phoenix and surrounding areas.
