Solid Tex-Mex spot perfect for girls night or a date. They have good drinks with pitcher options as well as great food. The outdoor seating is my fave but they also have plenty of inside seating if that is your preference. I've tried many different dishes here and they have all been great. This is a very attractive restaurant. Have you ever heard the term gentrification? If you're looking for an example, this restaurant is located in an area that is getting gentrified. There is what appears to be a boarded up housing development across the street but everything is is new and expensive. Regardless of your opinion on gentrified areas, it's hard to argue that this area looks fancy and new. Inside the restaurant is airy and open and well lit. The menu is somewhat small and prices reflect the area. Two tacos, beans, and rice was around $19. I got the short rib version and it was just ok. At $19 I'd hope for more than ok. The tacos were just ok but the Elote. Oh the Elote. It was delicious. Like superbly delicious. My only complaint is it was cut into slices so it was a little hard to eat. But man was it good. Valet parking is available, which is great because it gets quite busy on weekend nights. Decor is super cute. As someone from the Midwest (Chicago) who also lived in NYC, surprisingly, good Mexican food has been hard to find in Denver (barring the authentic places on Federal Blvd). Blanco's food was super delicious and fresh. They make their own hot sauce and other ingredients daily, and you can tell the menu is full of freshly made items. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, and cocktails were yummy (margarita mixes were also made in-house! Then as I was enjoying them at home, I found a piece of green gum that had already been chewed, mixed into the cabbage mix in the tacos as I was eating my last taco ( which I had put it in my mouth which was totally disgusting) . I was eager to try this new Arizona Mexican/Southwestern spot, so I arranged a lunch date with two friends. The restaurant is in the new 9+CO development off Colorado Boulevard. It has collaborated with its sister spot, Culinary Dropout, on a huge circular drive that makes it super convenient to pick up a takeout order or to drop off an elderly or handicapped friend right in front of the door. This is a really nice amenity and makes the restaurant very accessible. There is some street parking plus a large, free parking ramp on the diagonal corner. The space is beautifully decorated with a spacious dining area, a huge, open kitchen, and a large bar, nicely separated from the dining room. There is an outdoor patio, currently enclosed with plastic curtains for winter use. The staff was efficient and helpful and the food was phenomenal, starting with a thick, delicious salsa. The accompanying chips may have been a bit salty, but they went nicely with the salsa and my very well-balanced and super fresh-tasting margarita. The only downside here is a very, very, very slow kitchen. The manager stopped by to apologize after we had waited 45 minutes for our food. He said they were finding it nearly impossible to hire adequate kitchen staff. I understand the problem and we only saw three people in the huge kitchen. However, we stopped in for a late lunch. Only eight tables were occupied plus a handful of people at the bar. Most seemed to have already been served. Also, this type of food is typically prepped in advance and more finished and assembled to order than cooked totally from scratch. Even a small staff should be able to turn things out much more efficiently. I just don't understand this. I'd strongly advise avoiding peak dining hours as I can't imagine how bad the backup might be. I do appreciate that the kitchen didn't cut any corners, though. Our meals were nicely presented and uniformly fantastic. We tried the tortilla soup, the short rib tacos (caramelized peppers and onions, cotija cheese, and sour cream), and the short rib machaca, enchilada-style (caramelized peppers and onions, yellow cheese, ancho chile sauce, and cilantro). The food had clearly been prepared with love and skill. The depth and complexity of flavors were amazing. The accompanying black beans and rice were also extremely well executed. I really am at a loss for words--just wonderful food. An interesting feature of the menu is that the five main entrees can be prepared as burritos, bowls, or enchiladas. There are also various fajita options, a combo plate, multiple taco plates, chimichangas, salads, their special cheese crisps, and a number of interesting starters. There's the usual margarita list--regular or frozen--plus cocktails, beers, wine, and a substantial selection of tequilas and mezcal. Everything about this restaurant is great, if they could only fix that super slow kitchen. I definitely recommend this place, just don't plan on a quick meal. read more

Blanco is a cool spot to go! It is open concept, high ceilings and airy. They have lots of banquettes that are very cozy and spaced nicely for privacy. Our waitress was super kind and the service was great- they close at 9 during the week so no late nights. On Tuesday's they have all day happy hour food and cocktails which is a great deal! The chips and salsa are awesome. Salsa is chunky and a nice spice level. The queso was also incredible- it's a must try on the menu. They have burritos or you can get them as a bowl for slighter option. I had the braised chicken bowl and the flavors were really nicely out together. My sister had the Tucson chimichanga that looked incredible- it's huge but she really liked it. This place was a really nice experience and very good Mexican food in a chic setting. They offer complimentary chips and salsa, but don't fill up on these! They have a decent sized menu with a few vegetarian options. My go to is the caramelized sweet potato enchiladas. I wish they'd update the kid's menu though, my son only ever picks at his dishes. They have a fantastic tequila menu too. Highly recommend making a reservation- we did and thankful we had one as we overheard the hostess telling guests without a reservation that it was a 2 hr wait for a table for two. I went with the sangria after she recommended that and I was very happy with my choice. She also brought complementary chips and salsa which was nice to snack on while waiting for our food. I ordered the short rib enchiladas and my boyfriend ordered the combo platter. Both of us were pleased with the presentation and portion sizes when the food arrived after a short wait. I typically get chicken enchiladas, but was intrigued by the short rib option on the menu and I was not disappointed. The meat was so tender and flavorful. My boyfriend really enjoyed the variety that came on the combo platter and would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a little taste of everything. Overall, we were both very happy with our food. As a new restaurant in a popular area, they are very busy so expect to have to wait a bit. Came here to kick off a girls night with my family. Everyone was in agreement that it was a super cute spot with decent eats. However, the main star of the show was the cocktails! We went crazy over the delicious drinks. By far some of the best we've had recently. I got a strawberry and habanero margarita, my mom got the pineapple and jalapeño margarita, my grandma got a beer, cousin got a skinny marg, and other grandma got a cocktail with a Mamitas canned tequila soda in it. Each drink was incredibly tasty, but the highlights were definitely the spicy margs! We started with chips, salsa, queso and guac. The salsa and guac were on par, and most of our crew enjoyed the queso. However, to me the queso was a bit too creamy due to the fact that they add a huge dollop of sour cream that gets mixed in. We ordered a good variety of entrees. My grandma and I ordered the mahi tacos. Sister and other grandma got chicken bowls. And my mom and cousin got the short rib tacos. As a lover of fish tacos, these ones left a bit to be desired. They had all the elements but the mahi was just a tiny bit under seasoned and dry. I added some salsa and asked for limes and it added the needed flavor. The hit from the entree round was the short rib. Mom and cousin seemed to love it! We went on a Friday night at prime dinner time so it was packed and though there were ample servers (and ours was SO sweet), the service was a bit on the slow side. And we were cutting it close for our next reservation at a game spot nearby. Overall, I'd definitely give this place another try. I scheduled a reservation here for my birthday dinner because of the aesthetic and l will say it was slightly disappointing. I arrived first out of my party and walked up to the hostess stand where I was instantly met with looks that seemed as if I was bothering them. I told them about my reservation and got seated quickly. The server was so sweet and grabbed everyone's order with no problem and answered our questions well. The food was very 50/50 half of the group enjoyed their meals. I ordered the bbq pork tacos that came out extremely sweet (i didn't mind) except my tortilla fell apart almost instantly. My friend ordered a chicken bowl that got doused in sour cream to the point where it was basically soup. Another friend ordered the chicken tinga enchiladas that were also in a pool of sauce. After our food was brought out we were never checked on. We couldn't find our server for over 40 minutes and flagged down another employee who happened to be the bartender/bar back. Only to have our server come back and drop off the bill instead of actually helping us. I saw that other group was there for a birthday and they received a little dessert and constant attention from the server. They got their drinks refilled, their orders got sent back and come to their table quickly. We were sat right next to the kitchen and could hear everything going on.
