this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. My boyfriend has a ton of severe food allergies, and we are able to eat here with no issue at all. The service can be slow sometimes, but you have to make sacrifices when you get a whole Chicago style pizza with no dairy, nuts, eggs, or any other allergens in it. there is a super nice and comforting ambience, and a great place to catch a game with their bar. read more

Service was great - we were seated an hour before dinner time and the server was very attentive. First, I'm not usually impressed with burgers, had a million and though they're normally good, never impressive. This burger (normally part of the winter menu) very impressive! read more

The restaurant has a wonderful vibe and extensive menu. Lilly was our server and right from the start she was amazing. She was friendly and very communicative. When the bottle of wine we ordered wasn't in stock, she apologized and gave us options. We had no issue at all. The manager came to our table as well and apologized. The food was so delicious! We had the coconut lime salmon, veggie burgers and pulled pork. We ordered coffees and a dessert and were comped the dessert for being so patient. Totally not needed. We were happy with everything! Thank you for a nice evening!! read more

Have been dining at Blackie's for years! Top notch food and friendly, professional waitstaff. They specialize in offering dishes for a wide variety of dietary needs. Don't be fooled; just because it says "vegan" or "dairy free" doesn't mean it won't be good. I am gluten free and dairy free, and everything I've had over the years is excellent. Blackie's is my #1 go-to spot. read more

So sad to write this review because we have had good experiences. Went for a celebration. The person celebrating their birthday was offered dessert. We ordered two more. Check had not arrived and the fire alarm went off and we were told to leave the restaurant. Server brought our check outside which was over $300. We all had several bites left of our dessert but we were not allowed back in, despite being told this was only a drill. When I got home I noticed we were charged for the birthday persons dessert. I've written to the owner to express our displeasure and completed a survey and she never reached out. Not a good way to end our evening. read more

Our go to place. Always great service and ambiance. I have celiac and have eaten sandwiches, pizza, appetizers and desserts. Never a problem always felt included. Will be heading back for a birthday, can't wait. read more

Blackie's has been amazing, every single time I go. The food is delicious, the servers have all been great and the atmosphere is nice. I am gluten free so it's like heaven to me that I can order anything on the menu. 10/10 read more

Recently ordered take out from Blackie's! I've also dined in at the restaurant on two occasions. The food is delicious. They have a unique menu with many, many options for all preferences! Their dessert is particularly amazing. I've included photos of the espresso mouse cake and lemon pound cake from my recent experience. There is ample seating across several different rooms. Their decor is modern. Staff are super friendly. They are always very busy too! read more

My first visit to Blackie's after always hearing about how wonderful the food is. My friend and I ordered a pizza, cheeseburger rangoons and blackies wings. Everything was delicious along with my blackies pear drink! My waitress Vanessa was attentive and kind. Definitely recommend and will return! read more

Service is neither good or bad...it's 'nonexistent''. Wtf! I live in Mystic CT and have been here many times, although it's been awhile. Used to love the food and vibe. It's obvious owners are 'over it'. Very disappointed. Oh well, there are plenty of options. read more

Very disappointing. Our waiter was very nice but seemed overwhelmed by his responsibilities. It took 45 minutes to get drinks and another 40 minutes to get our entrees, which were delivered to us piecemeal instead of all at once (there were 4 of us). I specifically requested Caesar salad with NO croutons - said it twice - but it was delivered 10 minutes AFTER I received my entree PLUS it came with croutons! One more comment - the music was deafening. We had to pretty much yell at each other to be heard. We asked if it could be turned down, but got no response. Doubly frustrating because we were celebrating one of our milestones. read more

Wonderful experience! Everyone is always so friendly and helpful, and the food is marvelous! Their gluten free options are phenomenal. It's a real treat to have so many delicious options to choose from. We always try something new each visit. At most restaurants we just order an entree and that's it, but at Blackie's we always get appetizers, entrees and split a dessert. There are too many items we want to try. The servers have always been very responsive, and helpful with recommendations for new items on the menu. It's always a joy to visit to Blackie's!!! Can't wait to go back! read more

We've been here once before a long time ago, and were underwhelmed with the whole experience. However, we had family visiting from another state wanting to try Blackie's, so we gave it another chance. Now I remember why we didn't want to come back. What a major disappointment! Some of the utensils were dirty or missing, service was extremely slow, and food was blah in every way from plating, portions, temperature and taste. This restaurant left an embarrassing impression for their first RI visit. There are so many better places to eat. You can add this to the list of restaurants to permanently skip. read more

Had heard great things and been wanting to try for awhile and didn't disappoint! Went on a Friday night, so expected it to be busy but the wait wasn't too long. Pretty large variety on the menu, but we just got salad and sandwiches and a few drinks. Nice meal out for less than $90 w/tip! Want to try the pizzas next time read more

Blackies is definitely the best restaurant in the area. Food is fantastic and they are extremely accommodating to allergies and special requests. It's a little pricey but it's always delicious. We enjoy eating at the bar or getting takeout. My one complaint is that it's absolutely hideous inside! I would have loved to have one of my birthday dinners or even my bridal shower here but it's so ugly like lime green walls and weird black stained wood. I always wish it was a little bit of a cuter or more clean/neutral vibe because it is the best food around, I'd want to use them more for special events. read more

Missed them for dinner on New Years day but my work location turned out to be across the street so I grabbed a burger for lunch. The place is fancy and the staff is super friendly. I had a bacon burger and sweet potato fries and they were delicious. I'll be back for work this week and may stop in for dinner one night. read more

Cool vibe and good food. Based on the photos and menu I saw online, dinner was exactly what I expected for this type of restaurant. Unique and higher quality food, but priced too high because of the small portions. I would need to spend $70 to get somewhat full. When the chicken Marsala stuffed mushrooms app came out, I got a pit in my stomach because it was so small and it's $17!! Although I have to say, it was very tasty with a legit sauce. My brother and I swapped half of our sandwiches. We shared the chimi chopped cheese ($18) and the Reuben ($20). The Reuben was done very well, but small and not stuffed enough. The chopped cheese was excellent. So juicy and like the Reuben, it did not have enough meat and I wish it was larger for the price. Also, the plantain makes no sense in this sandwich. It ruined the one bite with it. Seems like blackies is trying to be too innovative adding that in there. Only the desserts are worth the price for their taste and portions. I got the carrot cake ($10) after seeing it ordered a lot online and it did not disappoint! The cake itself was my favorite part and the dessert was large. The mousse was bomb, but the whipped cream was too thin and had no taste. Also, the carrot cake would have been on another level if they doused it with that amazing sauce that they scarcely put on the bottom. I tried a bite of my brother's cheesecake ($10) which was also really good. It had a cookie and brownie crust with vanilla cheesecake. I would have given a 3, but their taste, quality, atmosphere and service warranted a 4. Portions are brutal though. read more

Great options for gluten free diets. I felt safe eating here as a celiac. So many options, and everything was delicious. Servers were helpful and understanding read more

Blackie's menu is from scratch and has high quality ingredients. They are always very busy due usually has a wait to be seated, however the owners created a nice outdoor patio with corn hole, fire pits, and a bar to enjoy while waiting to be seated. The restaurant is very dark. The service is usually always great. They have a wide variety of menu items with something for everyone. The buffalo chicken dip is a must for the appetizers and you can choose between tortilla chips or potato chips for the buffalo chicken dip. I always opt for half tortilla and half potato chips to mix it up and be able to try both. read more

Food is great, but we won't be back. Multiple dead bugs in a glass of water served to my wife. Emailed them about it (after speaking to manager there) and they deemed this incident not worthy of a reply. There was literally a dead bug floating right on top of ice. The lack of attention from the server made sure we got to see it though! It was Super Bowl Sunday around 1 p.m. and it was empty. No excuse for such haphazard service, and again, no reply from an email. read more

bad experience, overrated. service was very slow, they said they had a new menu but that shouldn't slow you down. in restaurant industry my self you should run the new items as a special prior to adding it to the menu so everyone can get acclimated and not slow it down. overall entrées were average will not be back. read more

Love when a restaurant offers an option to beef hamburger. I had the Apple Pie Burger with a turkey patty. The apple, pear and cherry compote had the right amount of tart with some chunks that married well with the turkey. The bun was soft but held up to eating the entire burger. Had the veggie of the day, green beans which were tender and delicious. If I lived in the area would definitely come back. read more

My son and I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it - would have rated it at five stars! We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back again just a week later and our experience wasn't as good at that time. The service was slow. We sat there for a very long time waiting for our food. Drinks were left empty and the waitress and her trainee really didn't check on us often. It was busy, but there was a table open so I don't know why we were kind of neglected. Also, I don't really like the new thing restaurants are doing where they ask you if you want a side of anything for your fries, you say yes and then next thing you know there's a two dollar charge on the bill. They should definitely let you know if there is going to be a charge for things That never used to be charged for many years. Having said all of that both of the times I went and enjoyed the food thoroughly and I would recommend. read more

As somebody with gluten intolerance, I love Blackies. I suggest it to everyone. That being said sometimes there's some quality control issues, especially with takeout. I've had done gristley steak tips, and twice I've ordered dessert and they have forgotten to pack the ice cream -which seems like a small touch but when you're eating cookies and cream bread pudding, it kind of feels essential. But I have family in the restaurant biz and I get it stuff happens, and overall love my experiences here. I wish their carnitas bowl was available yr round, honestly my favorite dish. Their pizza, apps, cocktails are all fantastic and the ability to built your own clean meal is exactly what I need sometimes when I've got goals and don't want anything heavy! Thanks blackies. read more

We hit Blackie's on Sunday for lunch with friends. The queer-o-meter is a perfect 10! WTG! Yay! Go be free and eat up a storm! It hit way above my expectations. I went in not knowing much about the place, since I had only gone once way before the pandemic at different location. And I have to admit it was great. My wife recently has been diagnosed with several food allergies- dairy, gluten and eggs being the top. She's vegetarian too, which complicates it further. This place knocked it out of the park! We got the buffalo vegan dip with GF tortilla chips, the Mediterranean platter with GF pita and extra GF pita on the side. Good size servings and coming from a non allergy meat eater they were bangin! Full of flavour and great textures. Our friends got a salad with quinoa and a smoky chicken Sandwich with fries. They let me try it and also SO. GOOD. As for cocktails she got a margarita and our friends got some specialty drink - I don't remember the name but both said they were delish. I got a Bloody Mary and to preface my review of it, I'm a Bloody Mary snob. It was "meh". Not bad but not really worth writing home about. It lacked depth for me -worcestershire sauce, horseradish and Tabasco. That's my only con. The server was friendly and attentive. And he put up with our shenanigans, always a great sign of a great server. Thanks Blackie's for making great food that everyone can enjoy! Cheers! read more
