Met someone for lunch. I don't know how anyone can call this a moderately priced restaurant. Our lunch was very expensive and my sandwich was marginal. I stopped going here over two years ago and thought I will try one more time. It hasn't improved. This remains on my no eat list. read more

Not the Blackie's it used to be. Loved going to the old location, the food was tasty and atmosphere was great. That's completely out the door with their new location - the vibe is weird, it's trying to be fancy but comes across drab and sterile. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, and we felt completely out of place in our game day gear (even though we sat at the bar). On top of that, our server was the definition of miserable. Once she found out we weren't ordering drinks (it was lunch and we weren't feeling it) her attitude went downhill real fast. Halfway through our meal we found out she left and never said anything and never told us who our new server was. On top of that, our water glasses weren't refilled once. The prices are outrageous now, too, as other commenters have said. Why would you have a $3 upcharge from chips to fries?! It was a $60 lunch for some wings, a burger and a Reuben, which is way more than I'm willing to pay for a less-than experience. RIP old Blackie's. read more

Have to say great service. They due have gluten and paleo menus but there is no mistaken this is pub food. Nothing that blew me away but food is decent. Got sick on my meal but it was a little harsh had a lot of ingredients. don't think I'm in a hurry to go back but maybe I should have ordered something else. read more

The classic calamari was rubbery, its breading mushy. It was served in a bowl where it soaked in oil - yuck! Rings only to boot, no tentacles. The portion was tiny; very disappointing. The Kale salad was tasteless, although very fresh. They don't do soup because it isn't winter. To be fair my wife liked her turkey burger a lot. Perhaps true pub food is the best choice, but why all the hubbub about a JWU master chef if you need to order a burger to be happy? And no soup? They need to decide if this is a pub or an arena for self-expression. The bar is nice, but I didn't go there to drink. Not a place I would avoid, but not running back either. Better service would bump this to a three stars rating. Server was friendly, but I have enough friends. Sorry folks, too many other choices that know what they want to be! read more

My family and I have been going to Blackies regularly since they opened in 2010. I am sad to say that their food has gone down hill over the last 10 years. The first noticeable difference was the downsize of their buffalo chicken dip. A healthy iron skillet serving turned into a portion half the size. The most recent, highly disappointing, difference is their burgers. Blackies had one of the best burgers. A thick juicy burger that rivaled that of Bobby's Burger Palace. Now, their new "squished" diner style burger is gross enough to have my body disposing of it in 20 minutes. Any review you read about Blackies having the "best burger" was before they changed to whatever catastrophe they're serving now. A message to Blackies ownerhship - don't fix what's not broken and quit changing your menu out of boredom. Sad to see one of our favorite restaurants make such drastic changes but not sad to not be going back anytime soon. read more

Yesterday was my daughters birthday. We had family from out of town visiting and they were hungry. We decided to take them to Blackies expecting to show them that good food is to be had around here. I called and made reservations as we were a party of 10. I requested 1pm and she said she would more likely have a table at 1:15-1:30. Fair enough. I booked the reservation, received the confirmation text message and confirmed the reservation. We arrive at the restaurant right at 1:15pm and the hostess says they won't be able to seat us for another 25 minutes as there is another party in front of us. I ask why as we made a reservation AND confirmed it. She says they don't take reservations for the same day. That was never communicated to me and they obviously had no problem creating the reservation when I called. So we wait with children getting restless and are finally seated a half hour later (approximately 1:45pm). We placed our orders and waited... And waited.... And waited!!!! No exaggeration, my children were falling asleep at the table. We were not served for ONE HOUR!!! Then to top it off... I order a classic diner burger and it was practically burnt. I could only eat half but obviously I wasn't going to send it back at that point. The only bright spot was our server, Amanda. She was super friendly, attentive and went above and beyond. She actually cut up my mothers food because she was holding my sleeping child. All in all it was a crappy experience and an embarrassment after bringing out of towners there. Overall this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth for the place. read more

Crowded and noisey...portions are small and prices are high. Some interesting food that looked very creative, and it was tasty, just not much of it, and for $18 expected more. Service was extraordinarily slow, we waiyedr almost thirty minutes from wheb we were seated until we saw our server, and it went downhill from there. read more

I work nearby and come here often. Unlike most restaurants the food is consistently good

I always drive by this place and no matter what day it is, the parking lot is always packed with cars lining 116. I have always wanted to try it and wondered what the secret was. Now I know . . . Amazing food! I got a burger and it was probably one of the top 5 burgers I have ever had. Really tasty and fresh ingredients. Great atmosphere as well. I would highly recommend. I never write Yelp reviews, but was compelled to give credit where it was due. read more

Hand-crafted meals with unique (but not too crazy) ingredients. The fig BBQ sauce is so good with the turkey burger! Also love the option of pimiento cheese. Staff was friendly and seating is very cozy! read more

The food was average Pub fare, pretty good nothing special. The prices were absurd. When I got the bill I was shocked. everyone at the table actually ripped out their calculators to try to figure out how they could justify charging that much. I will never go there again, and anyone with children, or even people without children who know the value of a Buck should avoid this place like the plague. It's too bad that people have to be greedy. I am sure they will be out of business soon. read more

First of all, pulling into this place is like trying to pull into Times Square. It's ALWAYS extremely packed. But, when you are able to get in, it's a very fun place to be. It's got a really cool vibe to it. The food is pretty amazing and they tend to change the menu up to accommodate for the seasons. The menu has a very eclectic spin to traditional faire. The specialty drinks are pretty fantastic as well. I love coming here with a group of friends or just coming alone and sitting at the bar. The staff are always friendly and attentive. read more

Blackies had changed. I used to like going there. The menu no longer has the items I enjoy, and the prices are silly. Today, it cost 3 of us $82 to eat here. A cold brewed iced coffee was $6 with no refill. That was more than my IPA! Sorry, but your coffee is not that good. The bread for all of the burgers and sandwiches are too much, and the handhelds just fall apart. You are forced to eat them with a fork, and end up eating the paper they come on as it disintegrates into your food. We should have left at the beginning when we all looked at the menu and thought there was nothing there that sounded so great. Oh well. We will not be back and will take our $80 somewhere amazing with better service. read more

Great pub! Solid local micro brew selection, handcut fries, great burgers and incredibly tasty buffalo chicken dip. A little pricey for a pub but I'll be back. read more

Drinks tonight were expensive and very weak. Very disappointed. $23.00 for two drinks that tasted like cool aid.

I went their for the first time and the it was busy. Took 10 mins to sit and we were eating in 20 mins. Food was fresh and the beer was clean and crisp and nice head. Waitresses very friendly. Loved it!! read more

Food is normally great. But I did take out and ordered a wrap and side salad. With a $2 tip it cost me $28. That's outrageous. The burger wrap was on the menu for $17 and on my bill for $20. And they didn't give me the cheese I asked for (or any cheese at all) which I assumed was the up charge. To top it off, their "homemade wrap" was nasty and didn't hold together at all so I ate my wrap like a salad. All in all, $28 for a wrap and side salad (which replaced the normal side) is insanity. read more

This is a great place to go if you have food allergies or sensitivities. We had 3 in our party and all of us ordered from the paleo menu. OMG!! It was terrific!! You do have to wait a little longer for special or allergy requests, but it is so worth it. A friend of mine from out of state was so impressed with the creative and delicious menu. She said she hadn't had anything like that ever before!! My husband and I have gone numerous times and always have a great meal. read more

Went there last Sunday for brunch. I give it 2 Stars for the atmosphere and Bloody Mary. The brunch dishes we had we're all disappointing based on the price. I had the generic big breakfast ( forgot what they call it) which was basically two eggs over easy with an English muffin bacon and home fries. The two eggs were way overcooked and had no liquid yoke that I could dunk in. It is way overpriced I could have got this breakfast anywhere else for anywhere between four and six dollars. My fiance got some breakfast dish served in a mini skillet that was also disappointing for the price and was basically a scramble egg dish in a small skillet with stuff thrown in. The other two people in our party what also disappointed with theirs based on the price. Our bill for breakfast with Bloody Marys and Mimosas was almost $200. We could have gotten the same breakfast and any other breakfast place with drinks for less than half the price. Nice decor and atmosphere but definitely not worth the price. read more

I've only been here for lunch (3x) but it was always a great experience. It's 3.5-4 in my book. The hummus platter app is AWESOME! I actually asked for them to add grilled chicken to it, no problem they said, and it really added something to the plate to make it an entree. I don't know where they get their pita but it is really really good. read more

kick a$$ burgers and homemade chips. super yum. pretzel bun is the best invention ever and they do it best. I am super impressed with the quality of the product though we did find it a little over priced. I haven't tried anything on the menu except the burger, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked very good. This place would be 5 stars if they had a much better craft draft beer selection. read more

There have been several people who told us about this place and described it as the best food they ever had. Unfortunately, it's okay bar food with some unique things but overall is go elsewhere - it's an after work hang out at best. read more

Love this place, good drinks, great food, and service. Best buffalo chicken dip around, and amazing nachos.......love the menu, would love for them to try duck fat fries. It would become a favorite quickly. read more

love the paleo menu. too many people agree. place is always packed.

Always would go here and never had an issue. Today my daughter orders her usual gluten free grilled cheese and fries. First she's told they can't make it and then she is told they will but when the bill comes they charged me $20!!! $20 for 2 pieces of bread and cheese with fries!!! They pride on being aware of celiac disease and gluten free but now they rip off the celiac community. We will never return read more

Seated right away but food took 45 minutes to get to our table. I had go to the bar to find our waitress. Manager was not very pleasant when I told how long we waited. read more

Great place. Awesome food and excellent service. Made our weekend.

I have been here quite a few times now. It is often slammed on weekends and I wish the place was bigger but overall its an attractive place and is well decorated. The staff and bartenders have always been pleasant and attentive in my experiences. The beer selection isn't anything to write home about but the rotating "blackies pick" is usually something pretty decent, like Loose Cannon for example. The menu is extensive and really covers a lot of ground. The quality of the food is excellent for a "Tavern" and what I really enjoy is the inventiveness of the menue. This is definitly not your run of the mill pub fare. I can always go in there and find something that is creative and tasty sounding. Ive had sandwitches, salads, flatbreads, wings, and fish. The turkey pub is basic but delicious. The only item I had that I wasn't impressed with was the beet salad. Between the bacon stuff in it and the dressing, it didnt leave me with the fresh feeling I was hoping for. Overall, I'm pleased that Blackie's seems to be doing well. read more

I happened upon Blackie's last weekend when looking for a lunch spot on the way to the shore. What a find! Great service, and a really interesting menu that offers items different from most pubs. The Hurdy Gurdy chicken (with a side of mushroom Marsala sauce) was perfect. read more

Don't usually write reviews, but had to this time. Really impressed with this place. The GF menu is unreal. Had a hard time making a decision on what to eat. Went for fish and chips. They were cooked perfect. My husband had the rueben, which he really enjoyed. Will be back. read more

Ah-Mazing! Fabulous GF options, not the usual half a page, but three entire pages of Delicious GF choices. Yes, THREE pages of gluten free! I got Cod loin with broccolini and Kale with cranberries off the paleo section, which was health and yummy. My husband got gluten free buffalo grilled cheese, which was unbelievable. I know it was unbelievable because I ate a good deal of it as well. We were told there was an hour wait for our party of 6, so we waited in the lounge upstairs, which was very cool. However our wait was not that long, probably a half hour. It was Very busy there, even at 5pm on a Friday, and got busier the longer into our visit, but WELL worth the wait. Food is freshly prepared with amazing attention to detail and there is something on the menu for everyone, from super healthy paleo, to the best gluten free options i've seen, to super decedent, yummy sauce lathered burgers. read more

First time here. This place is top notch. Great upscale pub atmosphere. Waitstaff attentive and seem to enjoy their jobs. First, the food. Very well done. Reasonably priced, we had a reuben and turkey pub wrap. Really good quality food. The reuben was the best I've ever had and that is saying a lot. My wife who has celiac disease loved the turkey wrap, and the chips which are truly gluten free. They have a great menu for people with gluten sensitivities. Ruth our waiter was informative, responsive, and all around great. What you hope for when you spend your dollars at a restaurant. All in all we will be back very soon. This is a gem in this part of Rhode Island. What a great find! read more

Went to Blackie's this past Saturday. The restaurant was very nice, clean and appealing. Our Waitress, Molly, was awesome too. She greeted us right away and took our drink order. The menu was impressive and everything looked so good. We ordered drinks, which were delicious and delivered right away. We ordered our lunch and the food arrived promptly and was DELICIOUS. The club sandwich was so fresh and tasted sooo good. Molly did a great job and was pleasant and took great care of us. Cannot wait to return. Thank you guys!!!!! read more

Awesome spot! We gave this place a try after reading about it here on Yelp... Don't come for healthy foods, but do come for some of the craziest options I've seen. Chicken fingers smeared with peanut butter and jelly, check. Buffalo fried calamari, check. Awesome burger options, check, check check.. And.... Fried pickles with an awesome dipping sauce! One of the only places I can think of where I could come back to several times and not feel like I have to always settle for the same one or two things every time... So many things I want to try here... Sandwich with peanut butter and jelly, bacon, and bananas? Yup, they got it! read more

Good food, I liked the outside seating - it was beautiful Friday night! The reason I gave this 4 stars is because the service was a bit slow. I had to ask other servers for drinks. Not a big deal but can get annoying. read more

For starters my family and I went there on a Saturday night early, like 5:30 early. We were told that it should be a 45 minute wait. Ok, no big deal. About an hour and 15 minutes later we were told we could sit at a high top table. We had our 10 month old daughter with us that's why we went what I thought was early. I also read on here that this place was kid friendly. There is no changing station in the bathroom. Mothers take note!. Looking back on this we probably shouldn't have gone with our daughter seeing as this place is more of a bar/ hang out spot. The food was good. I had the Chicago dog and we ordered the pretzel appetizer. I would not write home about either. My husband got the burger and he said it was fantastic. I cannot stress to you how long we were there for, for the over all experience. We pulled into the parking lot at 5:20 and didn't leave until 8:10. A bit ridiculous in my book. We weren't going to hang out at the bar, this was just for a bite to eat. read more

The flatbread pizza was out of this world on our first visit. On out second visit we had burgers and onions rings which were equally impressive. The exterior does not do this place any justice. The interior decor was modern and the staff was well attentive. read more
