I had a meeting scheduled here but had an hour to fill beforehand - not enough time to go home but too long to waste, so I decided to head here early. It turned out to be a GREAT place to work. Inspiring, yet not distracting. Plus they have a cute holiday backdrop set up right now! Everything on the menu always looks good, but I'm committed to The Douglas, sub chicken etouffee and jalapeño jam. I never remember to take a picture before devouring it so you'll just have to trust me
Hope you have access to a treadmill and some blood thinners. Pretty hard to find anything healthy on this menu. They unapologetically serve up food thats calorie and fat content is enough to make Paula Dean blush. But sometimes that hits the spot, doesn't it? I got their eggs benedict which is served on one of their giant calorie-bomb biscuits. And it was yummy ! Lots of hollandaise sauce for dipping my side dish of loaded home fries which was in of itself a nightmare of carbs and cheese. But it was yummy too. I think it would be hard to a regular here due to the diet impact but it sure does taste good. So maybe once or twice a year is ok =) ok three times.
2 tables, one server - that should tell you how this visit went once I sat and another group came in. Told the hostess, which is the server, that I know what to order for our party of 3. She hadn't taken the other tables' order yet. Oh, my. Then piece meal delivery, water, then coffee mugs, then coffee. Are today's servers afraid of a tray? I'm a former server, I understand. My guests arrived, but there was still no order taken. She finally took our order. It's been 30 min. The first table is just getting food. We only have waters. After an hour, we have food, trying to get carry boxes, and this poor woman has no help. Food was just OK. My guests enjoyed theirs, and I left most of mine. The Hoosier. A breaded tenderloin on a biscuit. The Douglas and a skillet were the others, and they ate everything. Biscuits were hard, but doughy as if not done. I don't feel the need to return.
I couldn't go to Big Bear Biscuits without trying a biscuit. So I had to order something that came with a biscuit. The waitress told us that the biscuits are huge, and take 45 minutes to cook, which makes sense once you see them. I ordered a honey bear latte and the rise and shine breakfast sandwich. The presentation of the latte was a bit messy and not what I expected. The sandwich was good, I really liked the black pepper aioli sauce and the bacon was cooked perfectly! The service was not good, we were never served water. I was able to get some at the end of our meal. The check took a really long time to get. We were sitting outside, and I felt like we were forgotten about.
I have been hearing a lot of great things about Big Bear Biscuit so I decided to try it for myself. The restaurant was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Inside their was ample space for several tables without being too close to other Diners. The menu offered several enticing drink options and food options. My friend and I both ordered the Bjorn Latte and it was delicious! I ordered the Petting Zoo, which consisted of 2 open faced biscuits topped with roasted tomatoes, sweet jalapeño jam, crumbled goat cheese, poached egg, hollandaise sauce topped with Avocado. I was intrigued when I read the description and it was a delightful combination! The Grits were pretty good as well. My friend ordered the 3 Bears and this consisted of 3 biscuits with a different type of gravy on each one: mushroom, chicken, and sausage gravy. Yum, yum, and yum!! What a unique concept! The portions were huge and we Both brought home leftovers! Our service was wonderful as well. Our waitress brought our items in a timely manner and gave us the right amount of attention. We didn't have to ask for our check because she brought it along with to go containers before we even asked! I will be bringing more friends to this delightful experience.
This location is much more open than the Brownsburg one. They also have a patio that should have been open. It was a 20 min wait so we opted for eating at the bar. The food took a really really long time. Considering the biscuits are precooked and gravy pre made as well as probably most of the breakfast meats, it just took way too long. They could turn tables much faster. The food. The bacon was fantastic. The scrambled eggs were, well scrambled eggs. The biscuit was much much better than Brownsburg ( theirs was hard and dry ) this was good. The sausage gravy ( I ate it because I was hungry ) but it wasn't great. Totally tasted like from a can or frozen. Husband's omelette was great size and filled with meat especially sausage. The fruit cup was good. He was happy it had a lot of pineapple. I don't think we would be in a hurry to come back, but I'd chose this location over the other.
Food and ambiance not superlative. Service is definitely not very good and or quick. The waitress messed up One if the orders but it was dealt with quickly. The biscuits are fall apart and pretty flaky. The sausage gravy was good but not great. It took quite awhile just to get waited in after being seated promptly. Most of our party had sandwiches that fell apart and are Really fork food but also good. Also not sure what the honey pot add in is on the receipt.
We took my wife here for breakfast. With "biscuits" in the name, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, my biscuits and sausage gravy was not good. It should be called biscuits and sausage FLAVORED gravy. The biscuits were also very bland. I make much better biscuits and sausage gravy myself. On the other hand, my wife enjoyed her omelet, my younger daughter liked her breakfast sandwich, and my older daughter enjoyed her "Petting Zoo" biscuit. Service was average. This is an okay breakfast restaurant, but go elsewhere if you want good biscuits and gravy.
The biscuits never disappoint. Every time I go in their biscuits and sandwiches are to die for. The black pepper aoli gives the sandwich the perfect texture. I will say that the service wasn't great. It wasn't the last time I went in either. Even though it wasn't that busy it was just slow. We were hoping to be in and out but it took much longer than expected. I will definitely return for the food, but I will always just be aware that it takes a while to dine in.
We just went on a trip to the south and Big Bear's biscuits outdid any that we tried on the trip. I truly thought I just wasn't a biscuit girl until I tried these ones. They were huge, fluffy, airy, and flavorful. Warning if you go on the weekend: it will be packed and hectic in there... super loud (happy for them!). We went on a Saturday and after hearing that there was a long wait, ordered our food to-go and ate in the car. I got The Rise egg sandwich biscuit sandwich with a side of fruit. I tried my sister's fries (more like potato wedges and they were soooooo good - definitely try some. It was all delicious and I hope to be back soon.
First time visiting Big Bear, and it was close to noon. It was the best brunch time if you asked me. Upon arrival, my guest and I were seated immediately. The service of the staff was very attentive to our needs, but I must say for it to not be as busy our waiter did disappear often and we found ourselves having to wave her down toward the end of our meal to get the check, and for small things like additional napkins, and more water. It's a decent size restaurant space with a lot of outdoor seating, but we opted to sit inside. They have plenty of seating with the option of a booth or tables, or even a combo. As far as the food we ordered, it was pretty good. We just didn't agree with the condiments. Not a fan of the bacon jam. The apple butter to go on those delicious fuffy Biscuits was runny. I've never seen apple butter of that texture. My guest wasn't a fan of the strawberry jam given. I think it was homemade, but not desirable to her taste. That sausage gravy was really good, and it was a perfect pairing with the omelette- eggs, bacon, andouille sausage, sautéed onions/peppers. I would definitely try that again. I wish the fruit was more fresh, but they gave a good portion size. Another gripe I have was about the campfire latte, it was so good, but the jumbo toasted marshmallow takes up the majority of the mug and takes away from the mocha of the latte. My suggestion would be to make the mug a little bigger to give the customer more coffee to enjoy.
I'm obsessed!! This was one of the most flavor packed meals I've had in a long time! Seriously! When my friend and I arrived they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. We both thought it was more around 30 minutes. We were greeted promptly by our server and she helped us decide on biscuits. We decided on the Korean flavored, Buffalo chicken and a breakfast version with gravy and bacon. Both of us loved the Korean style biscuit the most. It was so delicious! The other two were wonderful as well. I honestly can't imagine making a wrong order here. Everything seems to have a great flavor profile. The owner also walked around at one point to check on everyone and that was really nice to see. Run (don't walk) to Big Bear Biscuits! Deliciousness is waiting for you!
As usual, I had been seeing this place all over Instagram and had been curious about them, I was able To get over to this location and check them out. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and well as a bar so I decided to sit at the bar. The menu has a great selection of food, coffee and cocktails, I decided to get a Bloody Mary which was flavorful and tasty! I also had some delicious eggs Benedict, on top of tasty biscuits with an apple Brussel sprout salad, the portions are also very generous! I do hope that the service improves a bit, but with any new place, I hope everyone gives them grace. I'll be back here for more delicious food and drinks!

Huge portions at great prices. Their menu has a range of different biscuit options and speciality beverages. Loved the son of a biscuit, had a great kick! read more
It was our first time here and I really loved the cafe ambiance they had. Service was extremely quick and attentive. Servers were super nice. I loved the cappuccino coffee I had. We got there kinda late for brunch but they still had all the items in the menu. I had the spicy chicken. Believe me it's super spicy! So it will definitely give you a kick but it was overall great. I had this meal in late Jan! Would definitely come back! read more
This was my first experience at this restaurant, and it was a bit of a mixed batch. I wish I could give 3.5 stars because there were some service issues, but some small adjustments by the restaurant could easily make this a five star brunch spot. The venue is super cute. It has tons of little bear decorations, and it's not too pretentious. It sort of feels like the kind of place you'd stop at for breakfast when going skiing out west. It's clearly a popular spot; we waited about 30 minutes for a table, but there was ample outdoor seating outside to utilize while waiting, and I saw several people with coffee and mimosas. The menu had a ton of stuff that I wanted to order, and it was a really difficult to decide, and that's the main reason I know I will be going back. Several people in my group ordered breakfast sandwiches on biscuits, and they looked super good. I was really happy with my choices; I got an order of biscuits and gravy that came with three of their huge flaky biscuits and three different kinds of gravy. Sausage, chicken ettoufe, and a spicy tomato gravy. I LOVED the chicken gravy, and they other two were outstanding as well. I wish they had split the biscuits in half before pouring the gravy all over, because the sauce to carb ratio was a little off, but the taste made up for that. After trying my friends mushroom gravy, I was wishing I had that one too. It seems like you can't miss on the sauces. I had the pimento cheese grits on the side, and I polished that right off. They were creamy, salty and flavorful, and hearty. Another standout were the specialty coffees. My friend had the blueberry latte, and it was weirdly tasty. I had a lavender chai latte, which was so so good. I could have had about ten of those. I hate to say this because I have been a server for ten years, but the service was poor. Our waitress didn't seem to have a lot of tables (there seemed to be a very large wait staff), but she didn't seem to be feeling much urgency. With the huge wait line, I would have expected her to want to turn tables efficiently. We waited for boxes and our bill for about thirty minutes. That being said, I am guessing that was a one time experience. I'm going to go ahead and give this place four stars anyway, and go back for another meal with the hopes of turning that to five stars! read more

We have been to Big Bear 4 times. The food has been consistently very good. It has been also consistently busy since it is new and popular. They don't take reservations or call ahead. The do take your cell number to text you. It has been a 40-45 min wait, which I get because is new. This past weekend we decided to try to go later got there about 1:30 and didn't get seated till 2:15. They had said 20 min, but it was 45. Most tables were empty including outside. They close at 3. Our waiter mentioned that they were training new people. We have had good service, the first 3 times, but realize it was the same super nice lady. The last time he didn't really check on us, but once. Someone else refiled our drinks once. But they were cleaning and wrapping up as it got closer to 3. The waffle was very good. I also really liked the chicken. It was boneless, but tasted like it was fried more like it had a bone. It was not your typical tender. They use real maple syrup too! I used leftover rhubarb jam on my waffle. It was more runny than jam. They make all the jams in house, except the fig. The first time we got the Bears and Bees appetizer. It was amazing. 3 huge fluffy biscuits and choice of 3 jams, honey, and brie. It also had butter as well as fruit and nuts. It is very filling. The next trips I ordered the chicken and dumplings. I get obsessed with dishes and it was so good that we went back 3 times since they opened just so I could eat it. I always order a biscuit since they are so good and have always been fresh. This last time it was a little more crisp on the outside, but it was almost closing time so I am sure they were made earlier in the day. They are very large and the strawberry jam didn't really cover the 3 slices I cut it into so I asked for butter. I don't remember from the platter we got the 1st time it being special, but I needed it to help the slightly stale outer parts. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, just needed more. Turns out the butter is European and flown in and made specially whipped and the cost was $1 for small container. If I was going to pay for it I would have gotten more jam. Or even paid for brie. I think if you charge for things like butter it should be on the menu. The waiter said they were going to reprint them and add that as well as some other mistakes. I hate to let something small ruin my meal, but I was annoyed. It just felt pretensions and we had been waiting for the check to leave. Apparently the fig jam is also flown in from France, but I get mine at Market District, seems like overkill. I don't think it is an expensive place. But if you charge for butter for the biscuit I added and paid for I feel nickel and dimed. I will always order a biscuit, but I will not pay for butter. The strawberry jam was good, but didn't spread as well as the rhubarb. read more
My wife brought me the Son of a biscuit to work. It was a Nashville chicken biscuit with pimento cheese and pickles. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful, and spicy enough to appreciate but not to set your mouth on fire. The pimento cheese was also so delicious and there was a mound of it top of the chicken sandwiches in between a flaky biscuit. I will definitely be back in the near future and I can't wait to continue to eat my way through the menu! read more
Super excited to have a new brunch spot nearby. I went in on a Wednesday around 1:00 and they had no wait. The decor is very charming and the menu has a nice variety. I had the biscuit sandwich with turkey, egg and cheese. I picked home fries as the side. My companion had an omelette. The fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly and my biscuit was soft and buttery. The sandwich is super filling. They have homemade jams and apple butter. Both were fantastic. I loved the food and will definitely return. The service was a little slow but they seem to still be training some staff. read more

I attended a soft opening of Big Bear Biscuits today and I really enjoyed all my selections. I'm posting some pictures of the cheery & bright outside and interior as well as the menus and my selections. They are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I found very many options on the menus that I was interested in trying and ended up selecting the Shrimp and Grits and a Björn Latte. They were both delicious. I additionally ordered a Chai Lavender Latte and a Big Bear Brownie to go. They advertise that the Brownie is big enough to share and that is correct. I've posted a picture of half the brownie without the vanilla ice cream as I forgot to snap a shot of the half I ate today. They were extremely busy today but I'm not sure how many diners they invited to the soft opening that took place today and will continue tomorrow. I was very pleased with all my selections, service was quick and my server doing a fabulous job this very first day of business. Parking seems ample, they are located next door to the newly opened Prodigy Burger Bar. The location is convenient as well right off 96th street in between Keystone and Gray Road. read more
Oh my goodness am I glad I found this place! It is tucked around the corner a bit so you wouldn't necessarily know it's there coming onto 96th street. I came here with my friend for brunch one Saturday. It was relatively busy but the wait only took around 20th minutes. I had been seeing so many people talk about this place I was excited to try. Naturally I had to get the sausage biscuit sandwich. The black pepper aioli is an absolute GAMECHANGER. I love anything aioli and on a fresh made biscuit - can't be topped. It was so good and so filling! Even though we were absolutely stuffed we still managed to squeeze in the coconut cheesecake. Sadly we were only able to take a few bites. read more

Atmosphere was buzzing with Saturday morning customers hungry for biscuits. The waitress said the biscuits were big in size and she was not lying! The many choices of gravy were great, they even had chocolate gravy. Having gone there for a girls day out brunch many of us had mimosas and Bellini's. So many options to choose from on the menu we definitely will be going back soon. read more

One of my favorite places to eat! The food is amazing and the customer service is unmatched. We get the hibernator (biscuits and gravy, fried chicken & bacon) with home fries and biscuits and gravy with mushroom and saw mill gravy. Their blood orange mimosas are also out of this world. Id recommend Big bear Biscuits to anyone who loves good quality food/service. read more

What an amazing breakfast!!! This is definitely the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. I ordered the Three Bears and got sausage, Chicken etoufee and spicy tomato curry. The sausage was amazing, the etoufee was good but wasn't a fan of it on a biscuit and the tomato curry was yummy and flavorful (not too spicy). The service was amazing and quick. The restaurant has a welcoming and fun environment and a cute outdoor dining area. Can't wait to go back! read more

Food was very good. Service was friendly but pretty slow though. There were two of us and it took 15 minutes after we ordered to get our drinks (a coffee and an iced tea). Our food came out about 20 minutes after that but it was worth the wait. The loaded home fries were amazing. I also got the Douglas which was delicious. The Sweet and Savory lunch biscuit was also very good. We'll definitely be back, but maybe we'll try for a weekday when it's less busy. read more

We came in on a week day and were sat immediately. They gave us our drinks very quickly and the server was very patient. It was our first time and the menu is HUGE! I ordered the Cajun skillet. Bring your appetite because the portions are huge and filling. My partner ordered the biscuits and jam, and those were so fluffy and flakey. The jam is even better! Mango, strawberry, and apple butter were so sweet and light! I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. TikTok did not lead me astray this time!! read more

Found this place just searching for somewhere. Yelp food pics looked delicious so we stopped. Baby! This place is amazing I had the Douglas which is a whole breakfast on the best biscuit I've ever had. Fried chicken, home fries, cheddar cheese, and sausage sawmill gravy on a huge biscuit. Comes with a side so It chose a biscuit and jam. Dessert because that buttery biscuit with the strawberry jam was Fantastic. My husband had the HillBelly. Pork belly, slaw, some sauce that was so good he wanted to lick the plate. We were both full and I have a to go box for later. We'll be back! read more

We have been to Big Bear Biscuits twice now. The first was for breakfast on a weekday and the second was more lunch time on the weekend. They have a nice outdoor area that is very colorful and seems cozy. I forgot to ask if dogs could come, but I didn't see any either time. The first time we shared the Three bears and bees platter and it was very delicious. The biscuits are melt in your mouth and huge. It came with homemade jams, honey, brie cheese, and fruits and nuts. I had ordered a breakfast sandwich and grits and couldn't finish either after filling up on jam and fruit. The sandwich was very good, the chicken crispy. The next time I got biscuits and gravy. They have many types, but I went with regular sausage gravy. It has a very good flavor. We ended up with the same waitress both times and she was very helpful and experienced. It was about a 35 min wait for Saturday about noon. It is very loud inside is my only complaint. It seems like a small area and people are all talking and it just got a bit loud. The food is excellent. The staff was awesome both times. It is worth the trip for sure just for the fresh biscuits. read more
This place is amazing! I am so glad we ventured from the Southside to try it. The biscuits were fresh and chicken was moist and crispy on the outside. For the food alone it was pretty cheap, $24 for both items combined and the portions are huge! I wish they would bring another location to the Whiteland area! We will 100% be back! read more

We went to the Grand Opening of Big Bear Biscuits and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They're open from 7 to 3 every day and have tons of delicious biscuit dishes, a full bar (hello mimosa flight ) and the cutest patio. Best part- each month they donate $$ to local charities and the charity rotates each month. This is a must visit & worth the trip. read more

Can they handle a large group easily? I didn't see a separate room for groups when I was there with a friend a couple of days ago.
Are there any gluten free options available?
I don't know, but call the restaurant and ask, or else look online. :)
