We had a great experience at Yolk in Indianapolis. The food was excellent across the board, and we sat at the bar which ended up being a great spot. I usually base a lot of choices on coffee options and was happy to see flavored creamers for drip and LOTS of specialty options for coffee lovers. The woman working on the getting plates ready for the servers and expediting food was fantastic--super attentive and kept everything moving quickly. We watched everyone's plates came out fast and fresh the entire time. We ordered the All Star and upgraded the cinnamon roll French toast for $3, which was absolutely amazing and worth it. We also got a half order of the red velvet French toast--just as good and perfectly done with fresh strawberries. The avocado toast was solid as well. Only small note: the capers were a nice touch, but pickled red onion instead of fresh chopped would've taken it over the top for more balance and brightness. I was a disappointed by this restaurant. For context, I got an egg white breakfast sandwich and they cooked the avocado into the egg and it was really disgusting. I also got a side of egg whites, but they were cooked in that butter spray and didn't taste fresh. The cheesy grits were OK but not very flavorful. The food was absolutely horrible, i ordered the weird croissant with the eggs and weird grass base sauce that by the name did taste like grass. It came with a side of potatoes that to be frankly honest must've been cooked the day before, frozen then reheated, dry as hell. The $7 hot chocolate with "whip cream" I wish I can measure the "whip cream". At first glance you ask yourself am I sure I ordered whip cream with this thing? Short answer yes! Long answer kid portion whip cream I mean lord it must've diluted way before it landed on my table. The server I mean she must have a recorded line. Not a good morning or a how are you. She just asked what we wanted and that's about it really which is fair enough but don't expect a "friendly" or talkative server. I so miss this brunch place since I moved from Indy so I try to visit when I'm back in town. I was a little disappointed to learn that they just changed their menu to remove the red velvet French toast - my absolute favorite - but was overjoyed when they still had stuff for it in the back and I was able to get it one last time. I will definitely miss it in future visits but they're still got other great French toast and brunch food in general. I also always love their speciality coffees. I went with the rosemary molasses latte this time and it was so good. My partner got the breakfast burrito which was also a great dish and good to split with the sweetness of the French toast. Was visiting for the Royal Rumble in Indy and stopped for breakfast morning of. Got seated very quickly and the place was nice. Blake was our waiter and he was very very personable and fun, also patient with us as we were deciding what to eat. Had the horchata cold brew and it was awesome. For breakfast we had the biscuits and gravy and the chilaquiles. Biscuits could've been better but the gravy tasted good, the salsa on the chilaquiles also needs improvement, did not taste fresh. I still want to give 5 stars because I loved our waiter and the atmosphere at the place, a person behind the bar came to chat with me about wrestling and he was also very cool. It's a very cool place inside -very bright, oranges, yellows and whites very open, lots of seating and a big open kitchen area with bar that you can sit at and have your meal. And then some very fancy things like strawberries and cream French toast, cinnamon bun French toast. We started with some coffee to drink. It was excellent. Then we moved on to the meal. I got French toast, my son got a skillet with protein and veggies, my wife got the cinnamon bun, French toast, and my daughter-in-law got the red velvet French toast. The cinnamon French toast was a couple pieces of French toast with some cream cheese and then an actual cinnamon bun in the middle of them. The red velvet French toast with strawberries had Red velvet French toast with cream cheese in between them and strawberries on top. They both looked great and they absolutely loved them. I also got some fried potatoes, which were very good. All in all the meal was excellent. Our server was great. He was very friendly. Kept coming back to check on us, filling up coffee and water. Came here at prime brunch time so there was a ~30min wait. There were a lot of open table so was a bit confused? maybe understaffed? Anyways, they text you when your table is ready. I got the protein & egg combo. It comes with a choice of pancakes, crepes, french toast or waffles. I upgraded the pancakes to chocolate chip for extra $2. You know, if restaurateurs really put some forward thinking into their operations, they would assume that most of their clientele, especially at a location like Yolk, deal with some sort of disability -- like me, with Parkinson's. So, I've become one of the region's most prolific delivery customers! Unfortunately, as a delivery customer, you can only make remarks about say, the tiny portions of potato sides, after the fact and not during. I understand that there's some wiggle room on the $50+ price for two burrito breakfasts (see associated photos), but hey, what are you really losing by providing another dozen or so potato cubes on my plate? C'mon, it's a bit of American Green on a breakfast plate!
