Loved this place! I was not sure what to expect. It is small and quaint. The service was excellent. The food was hot and delicious and served quickly. I had the chorizo tacos and they were soooo good. The potatoes with it are wonderful. If you are getting there in the early afternoon, I would say that the coffee that you serve yourself is not hot, but not discounting stars for that. They were wonderful and heated the coffee up for my friend at lunch, which was wonderful. They truly care about the customer and I will be back since the food was so good. read more

Bottomless coffee bar. What's not to love? Went for a business breakfast for two. They made me a "yolks only" dish that called for eggs on top, due to a dietary need. I really wanted the dish, so they accommodated without hesitation. I loved that! We both enjoyed our food very much. I gobbled mine while my associate took a portion home. The place has a cute vibe. Very cute interior with very kitsch chair covers at the bar and the tables. They also had the half bench and chairs seating. The coffee is serve yourself. I was seated and greeted quickly. My order was the broken egg sandwich and one pancake with unsweet tea. The over-medium egg on one half had very runny whites, which I don't eat. So one half of the sandwich was good. Didn't touch the other. It had cheese, bacon and tomato The half I ate was good, very warm and crunchy. The runny yolk didn't make the bread soggy. The sourdough was quite tasty. The hash brown mound that was with it did not have much flavor at all. But with some salt it was better. The texture was great though, crusty on the outside, soft interior. I would probably return. Though the service was quick, the waiters never asked if I liked what I ordered or asked if I wanted a refill. She finally did come and give me my check and me a box and i asked for a refill which she made to go. Not attentive but not overly attentive either. I would say a 3/5 but I could see it being better if I ordered differently. The food would be what brings the score up. Such a cute little independent cafe. Staff are always friendly, and food is fresh and tasty. Chill crowd during the weekends, even during the morning breakfast rush. Decided to give this place a try for a late breakfast. We are always looking for good breakfast places that have "good" coffee. First, I should say that I am a bit of a coffee snob and I am not talking lattes and fancy coffees. I like strong, flavorful black coffee. Unfortunately, very few places hit the mark on this. Rad's falls short here, the coffee is mere warm brown water which seems very common in a lot of breakfast places. That being said, the servers were friendly and our food was excellent. We had the avocado toast with chorizo and the corn beef hash. We will definitely be back but will not spend $3.50 for brown water. We will opt for a different drink or even bring our own coffee. The place is welcoming and seems like a local hang out. Give it a try for at least the food. read more

Goat cheese was a creamy and tangy topping. Came with hash browns. I covered it all in Sriracha of course. Hubs had Eggs Benedict. Eggs cooked perfectly and hollandaise sauce was excellent. I love the vibes of this little neighborhood cafe named for a WWII family war icon. The trendy cafe serves breakfast and lunch and is busy on a Sunday morning. War pics and the story of Rad Bailey hang on the wall. Rad was the inspiration behind this family run cafe. The dining room seats about 25 and there is some seating outside as well. The young staff is plentiful. The menu offers breakfast and lunch options with specials on the board. We stopped by for a quick lunch before heading to the soccer fields. My husband had the Avocado BLT with chips. The sandwich was good, but he was nagged by the wilted lettuce and small tomato slice. There was lots of avocado and the fresh wheat toast was good. The chips may have been made in-house were good. I had a bowl of loaded potato soup. The soup was made from scratch and was beautifully presented. There was lots of bacon, plenty of cheese and green onion and the soup was velvety. But there was just too much salt. All I could taste was the salt. I never complain to the staff, but I was tempted. Our server, Lizbeth, was friendly. I could have used more water, but she was busy serving others. We left a little disappointed. The cafe is so cute and clean, but the food did not hit the mark. Small little breakfast place open 8-2. I stopped in real fast to grab a bite in between bus routes. We got the bacon, sausage and jalapeno omelette with hashbrowns and the English muffin sandwich with hashbrowns. The omelette was amazing, it had a lot of ingredients inside. The sandwich was good but I wish the English muffin would've been toasted so it wasn't soggy. We were both disappointed in the hashbrowns in the first look I was as so excited, they looked to be crunchy with a soft interior. They were chewy where they should be crunchy not sure how they make them but there was no crunch. read more

It started with an impromptu family get-together, and it ended up being a great surprise. Challah french toast, chorizo breakfast tacos, mouth-watering biscuits, and gravy, all served quickly and kindly by a genuinely friendly staff. Everyone LOVED their food, and as in all great family get-together meetups, the food was shared in an informal family style that left us all with a taste of different dishes filled with flavor and well prepared. They have a unique take on hash browns. They cook them in a muffin tin which leaves the outside very crispy and crunchy and the inside tender and soft. I prefer traditional hash browns, but it didn't stop me from finishing my hash brown muffin with gusto. My father-in-law didn't love the muffin version and left half, but the other tables around us did the same thing to theirs that I did to mine, and that was to make it disappear. :) I would have probably rated this as a 4.5, but they also have safe options for my wife in a variety of salads and omelets, so I had to bump it to a five-star rating. I will be back to make a further investment in that Challah french toast. It's starting to call to me, and that's always a good sign. read more

We never came here very often because it was always busy, but each time we did eat here for breakfast, we enjoyed it. The kids especially loved the paper table cover so they could draw and color. Today's visit was different. No crowd, no paper table cover and the kids were given a paper menu with activities like many other restaurants but they weren't handed anything to write or color with, POINTLESS. We weren't offered drinks aside from the water that they gave us and the food was less than mediocre. French toast was cold, hash browns were undercooked, biscuits and gravy tasted like frozen biscuits. It was a very disappointing experience for what was once a nice, local restaurant. I wanted to try a new place for brunch with a friend and Rad's was on my list for a long time. We landed rather late at 12:15 and the place was completely empty. Which was rather odd since it's Saturday and many customers (just like me) love brunch or late brunch on weekends. I am assuming it could be cause of summers but it was definitely different. I ordered Huevos rancheros and grabbed self serve coffee. The rancheros has just the right flavor with cheese, salsa and hot sauce and I enjoyed the side of hash browns which was crunchy and warm. I loved my coffee and the size was about right. The entire brunch took about an hour and customer service was good. All in all a good place to catch up with friends for brunch. read more

Rad's is our favorite breakfast spot. It is a small spot, which we love! The staff are helpful and kind. The setting is relaxed. Want to come in your sweats because you just woke up? Do it! I really like their self-service coffee station with the Snickerdoodle coffee . The one thing we love about Rad's is that they are consistent! This is a quaint little cafe with a very simple menu and I can tell it's a staple for locals. It gave me a "sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name" vibe. I don't know if that's truly the case, but that's the feeling I got. I came in on a solo breakfast date and sat at the counter. The coffee is self-serve and the options were: house blend, Colombian decaf and Snickerdoodle. So, you know I had to get the snickerdoodle! It was delicious. Side note: The Snickerdoodle was completely out when I left so I couldn't get any to-go. That made me sad! I ordered the BLT&A (w/o the T)...and don't you just love a good play on words! The multi-grain bread was a bit dry and aggressively thick but there was a decent amount of bacon and avocado. The greens were dressed in very tasty balsamic dressing. Let me start with giving the place a compliment. The staff was nice and the restaurant was clean. But just my luck that almost everyday time I order to go the food is never good. It's always just barely decent. We ordered to go but decided to stay and eat. My wife ordered the avacado toast. She was not impressed. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on sourdough. Let me say I did eat the whole sandwich. Not because I loved it but because I was starving. The sandwich was $13. But i wish I took a photo. It came with 2 small pieces of bacon. The sandwich was basically mostly bread. The most heart breaking part was even with the cheese on the sandwich there was really no flavor. I think they forgot the seasonings. I feel like if I had ordered in the restaurant and not online our breakfast would have been much better. It's sad that I feel most restaurants just don't have employees that truly care. It's just a paycheck. My wife and I will just continue to cook at home. Atleast we will enjoy our food we make. Please Rads just try a little harder. If your paying $13 for sandwich you should get what you paid for. read more

My guest enjoyed her entree. My sandwich was big, but lacked flavor. The potato hash brown tasted as though it had been precooked and reheated. Sorry for this, for the most part the food is good but learn how to toast a bagel per your menus. I had a lovely raw bagel sandwich, which was supposed to be toasted. Seems so simple, but another person at our table has something on toast, and it was just bread. When we spoke to the manager who agreed, our food should have been toasted, and they agreed but barely acknowledged, probably thinking we wanted money off the check. We had a solid breakfast this weekend. We arrived at 9:50 a.m. on Sunday and were happily surprised we were able to snag the last outdoor table. They have a fun selection of brunch tacos, and I tried the egg and chorizo. My husband and daughter ordered fairly simple items, so we were surprised that it took close to 30 minutes to get our food. When our plates arrives, my food was barely warm and the tortillas were room temp. I hated to send it back, but I couldn't eat it that cool. Round two came back quick and now that it was properly heated, the tacos (and hash browns) were delicious. My daughter was disappointed with the kids mac and cheese. I wish that restaurants would distinguish between house-made mac and the Kraft boxed mac. This was clearly the Kraft, which she hates. It was also delivered scalding hot, so we had to wait several minutes before any of us could eat it. One very odd/gross thing was that as we were leaving, someone was bussing the table near us. He was taking the cups and tossing the leftover contents onto the sidewalk and street. This included regular and chocolate milk. Thankfully it looked like it was about to rain because I can't imagine the smell and amount of bees that would have appeared otherwise. read more

We stumbled upon Rad's randomly and it did not disappoint! At first I thought it was a coffee shop, but it's a breakfast/brunch spot. We ordered the street tacos and 2 eggs, meat, hashbrowns, & toast. Both were delicious! I was most surprised about their hashbrowns. Usually hashbrowns are a bit bland, but these had some really good flavor to it! The street tacos had goat cheese on them which made for a unique flavor. We also received great service the first time. When my sister and I decided to have a girl's day, I took her here for brunch and the food was delicious, yet again. She ordered lunch and I ordered breakfast and they were both great. We also had another wonderful server. My husband is a pancake connoisseur and we definitely think these are some of the best pancakes around. The syrup is great as well and they always have fresh berries if you ask. We had family in town visiting and decided to do brunch at Rad's Sunday morning. The shopping plaza the restaurant is housed in is currently under construction. The food is plated well, but average quality and flavor profiles. My 10 year old son ordered a breakfast entree for his meal (not the kids meal). He cleared his plate of French Toast and was still hungry. The service at the restaurant is also just average. Services quick friendly and efficient was specials listed on the chalkboard and serve yourself coffee available as soon as you enter. Environment as pleasant and comfortable. Despite having been off work this week, I've been surprisingly light on the new Yelp reviews. So, today I set out to snag a new Yelp review for lunch and headed up into the northern Indy/Hamilton County area to also run some errands. I pulled out my trusty Yelp app and clicked on "restaurants" right as I was on 126th Street. Several options were presented. I saw "Rad's," but knew nothing about it other than the fact it was, in fact, in the parking lot where I was sitting and I'd somehow missed it. So, hey, I'm always up for finding a new breakfast/brunch joint. From reading other reviews, it appears this used to be a Patachou establishment. That's amazing to me as it doesn't seem like it would have the traffic and it seems smaller than most Patachou locations. Maybe that's why it's not a Patachou anymore, eh? Regardless, it's in an ideal location for a small, local diner and that pretty much describe's Rad's, a locally owned establishment started by a family and named after the owners' grandfather who fought in World War II. If you look around the decor, there's a very light World War II era theme going on. The curb cut situation isn't ideal. There's one to the right of the restaurant, but they have a table actually blocking passage. While I doubt they get major wheelchair biz, it's still noteworthy to mention. Instead, I jumped what was a small curb and wheeled in from the left. Technically, you could go down near where the vacant O'Malia's is and use that curb cut, but that's extra footage and I'm lazy. They have a handful of tables outside, though today I dined indoors. They have the lunch counter with old-fashioned style seating. They also have tables. I opted for a comfy table close to the door. It was a two-top, but slightly bigger and worked well with the wheelchair. They advertise themselves as having "chef-driven classic brunch fare." I'd agree. The menu is pretty modest, but includes the basics. For breakfast, you have a French Toast combo option, a pancake combo option, and a total of 10 meal combo options. Prices go from $9-11.50, though it's worth noting that most include a meat side option. They do have vegetarian friendly options. The lunch menu is even more slight and, quite honestly, I'm not sure I'd eat lunch here. Sandwiches include BLT, Reuben, Club, Little Havana, Chicken Salad, a wrap option, and a couple others. They also have soup/salad options and some pastry options. They do have a kids menu and they have the usual drink options including my beloved unsweetened iced tea. I ordered the French Toast combo option - It was two slices of French Toast with a chosen side (I picked sausage links). It's Challah French Toast - No, not T'Challah. That's Black Panther. My meal came in at right around $13 - slightly higher than I usually go for breakfast (that I had at lunch time), but given the neighborhood it's reasonable. The food was quite good. The French Toast was prepared beautifully - filling, but not overly stuffing. The sausage links had a bit of a spicy kick to them - I wasn't quite expecting that, but actually really liked it. Overall, I would definitely order both again. I also liked that the French Toast had powdered sugar - it seems like lately everybody's doing cinnamon or some other fancy topping. This felt classic and quite nice. My server was Rachel - she was top notch. She was friendly, personable, helpful, and made sure I got my refill of iced tea. She dropped off the bill casually and didn't mind that I lingered. Of course, business was kind of slow (but picked up a bit by the time I left). I really liked Rad's. It's not quite a 5-star joint, but the ambience is warm and casual and the service matches it. I feel like if I ate here regularly, I'd be treated warmly. As a single guy who leans toward being communal, that's my favorite kind of place. While I'm not quite in this area regularly, it's not really that far outside my stomping grounds and I look forward to going back. read more
