I don't know how I had never been here nor heard of it before, but I will definitely be back. I stopped in for breakfast after a morning event and really enjoyed the eclectic environment. The menu is solid, with good variety. I ordered the A La Crossing Benedict, side of gravy, lefse, side Norwegian potato cake, and peach ginger hot tea. I was thrilled to find the hot tea was loose leaf in a pot brought to the table. It's a lovely touch. The Benedict had perfectly crispy bacon and so much asparagus. The egg yolks were perfectly runny and the hollandaise had great flavor. I picked the house salad with champagne vinaigrette for the side and enjoyed that as well. I tried the gravy on some of the sourdough bread and it had a great flavor. The biscuits and gravy will probably be something I order next time because it was so good. When I read they season their sausage in-house I knew I had to try it even though I wanted the Benedict. The Norwegian Potato Cake was a delight! I love every take on a potato pancake or latke and this one had great flavor. The Lefse was a perfect treat to end- I had the traditional with just butter, sugar, and cinnamon. I did like Ruth's and service was good and pleasant . Flavor of food was very good. The serving size was smaller than I anticipated but in the end it was all I wanted and I was fully satisfied. I started with a cappuccino which was excellent. Large mug, excellent froth and the coffee was rich and bold ! I ordered the half order of biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs on top. I enjoyed the food, flavor and richness of the gravy. The gravy was stocked with sausage crumbles which added the full flavor. The eggs were fried a tad harder than I desire but they were tasty and topped the meal well. The price was more expensive than I anticipated but not crazy. Ruth's is a little of a distance for me which is how I base my final rating. I liked it and will go again if I am in the area during their hours of operation. I've been coming here for years now and didn't realize I've never written a review. I come here for breakfast more than lunch and no matter what I get it's always good. Today opted for blue berry pancake and side of sausage with an iced hazelnut latte. It's standard diner vibes, which is all I want/need for breakfast. We chose to sit outside and had a very kind server, though it did feel like he forgot about us a few times. Here's what we tried: + Quiche of the day (ham & cheese) with breakfast potatoes - Just okay. I wish the ham had been sourced locally, but the potatoes were great! + Brisket breakfast bowl - Also just okay. I can't believe I haven't left a review for Ruth's Cafe yet. I rave to everyone I know about how amazing their blueberry pancakes are. Even with the change in ownership, they remain the same: as big as the plate, chock full of FRESH blueberries (if you order them that way like I do), and light and fluffy. I think about them all the time and always start planning our next trip in once we leave (there have been instances of us coming here multiple weekends in a row lol). My husband always likes to order the potato omelet and absolutely loves it. It's a huge portion, comes with a little side salad and toast/jam. I have strayed from the pancakes a few times to try something savory and have enjoyed those dishes too, but I have never had pancakes anywhere near as good as Ruth's elsewhere in Indy, so I like to get those when we come in. read more

Ruth's is just a gem. We tried it years ago and fell in love immediately. You have fun artwork and wall hanging that change when they are sold. You have painted walls with chalkboard specials. It is the true essence of a cute little cafe. We always have breakfast, and they have a large lunch menu too. I'm the warm seasons they have outdoor seating. The staff are like a family and give the BEST service. If you are going on a weekend morning be prepared to wait as their will probably be a line. I wanted a cute Sunday brunch and Ruth's Cafe was one of Yelp's favorites in north Indy! I arrived at 12pm and there was a 5 minute wait. Upon entering, I couldn't help but notice how cute and kitschy this place is - vibrant colors, pop culture references on the walls, and quirky furniture. I ordered the spinach melt on focaccia with a side salad, which was served in less than 10 minutes. Wow - the spinach melt was packed with tang and juicy from the roasted tomatoes. It had enough swiss cheese for a cheese pull (so satisfying). The focaccia wasn't in a traditional focaccia rectangle shape - it was the size of a large English muffin. However, the focaccia was soft, moist, and flavorful. I would love to buy focaccia to-go from Ruth's if possible...it was *that* good! I'm definitely coming back to Ruth's for it's cozy vibe, excellent customer service, and high quality food. There are plenty of vegetarian options to choose from for my next visit! read more

I've tried the quiche many times and it is always top notch. Today I decided to go for a benedict - but with a twist potato pancake base instead of english muffin. Very good - perfect poached egg - lovely hollindaise... i didn't realize it didn't have ham on it - but i re-read the menu and that was my mistake! Server was quick with my coffee and a refill. Also, you can scan your receipt's qr code and pay with apple pay. No need to wait for your card to be run. The place has a super funky vibe- all the tables are different. We were able to get in just before closing and were seated immediately. This place has a bistro feel to it, small, quaint and cozy. Every day they feature a different omelette and quiche. I ordered the salmon omelette: Smoked salmon, fresh sautéed spinach and cream cheese. Served with your choice of slow-roasted potatoes, fresh fruit, or house salad with champagne vinaigrette, plus sourdough toast. We had an amazing experience here today! First of all, the place is absolutely adorable. There is so much to look at, and it's the very definition of dopamine decor. The vibes are very fun and uplifting. Our waitress, Lacey, was also wonderful. She was very friendly, warm and attentive. We asked for a few different modifications to our meals and everything came out perfect. The food was wonderful, and the menu had a very fun variety of breakfast and lunch options. It's also so fun to see an artist credited on the menu-- no AI slop in sight, just tons of fun, engaging art. Even the bathrooms are nice and clean. The ambiance and vibe of the cafe was the best. Super cute and plenty of room for people without feeling too cramped. We arrived around 9:15 on a Sunday morning and were seated within 10 mins. This was our second time in about 10 years so we wanted to check it out again. I'm a huge fan of lefse so we came here with that in mind. Food: I got a coffee, the lefse, and the brisket hash. My husband got a double order of biscuits and gravy, with a side of bacon and a Diet Coke. The lefse was amazing, just like I remembered. I thought the brisket would be shredded and it was cut up in chunks, almost like a smoked sausage consistency. The flavor was good, but I don't think I'd choose that again. The coffee was regular and they had cream and sugar on the tables. My husband wasn't thrilled about the biscuits and gravy, but he's picky and thought the sausage had a weird taste to him. (It not their chorizo sausage gravy, which I had last time and it was fantastic!) All in all, I'm glad we have it a 2nd shot. It was pricey ($67 with tip) so I doubt we will be back for awhile. Came here on a Sunday morning because we had a certificate to use. It's on the south side of 86th street in a strip mall across from Maggiano's. They have tables set up outside for dining, but it was a brisk morning so everyone was eating inside. They appear to have a couple of rooms inside, although we didn't venture beyond the intimate main room that we were seated in. Service was prompt and excellent. Gratefully, we saw their daily specials written on a chalkboard wall behind the entrance. My wife selected the Scramble Du Jour ($12) which were scrambled eggs with a variety of vegetables and included potatoes and toast. I chose the Skillet Special ($14) which included an egg with sausage, gravy, cheddar cheese, onions, and peppers. It was a decent portioned plate and had excellent flavor. I would absolutely order it again. If we lived closer, we would be regulars here. They have some unique menu options I would be interested in, such as their cheesecake pancake offering. With all of the options around, I do highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good breakfast. read more

I've been here a couple of times but most recently stopped in for a quick lunch. As always, this casual breakfast/lunch spot was hopping, with all the outdoor tables full on a temperate summer day. No worries, the indoor space has so much to keep your senses occupied! This was the first time that I had noticed the umbrellas on the ceiling, along with a drum and cymbal. I was seated at table covered in rainbow Day of the Dead style skulls, and my chair had Star Trek decoupage adorning it. The whole place is quirky like that, makes it that much more fun! The friendly and fast waitress Varonnica arrived quickly with my coffee. Bonus for me that RC serves breakfast all day! They have such a diverse menu that I'd be sure there's something to suit everyone's taste. I ordered a spinach omelette with side salad and wheat toast. During my short wait, I was able to look around and really enjoy the uniqueness of the pop-culture decor here. Most of the tables are two or four tops, with a couple places along the wall perfect for larger groups. It is a little loud for private meetings in the main space, but not so much that you can't carry on a normal conversation. It's just that kind of a fun, busy place! My food arrived shortly. The omelet was big, filled with spinach, oven roasted tomatoes (soooo good!) and feta cheese. For me, this was a perfect flavor combo! The lightly sweet house champagne vinaigrette truly complemented my fresh side salad. I also appreciated that the salad was served in a bowl, which made it much easier to eat. I was able to pay my bill quickly at the table and off I went. I forgot how much I enjoy visiting Ruth's Café. Next time I won't wait so long! read more

My husband and I have been to Ruth's at least once a month for the past 5 or 6 years. We missed a few months due to illness but returned today. I ordered the blackboard special veggie quiche and fruit and coffee. I was shocked when served my meal. The quiche was about 1" tall, the color of refried beans with some charred bits of unidentifiable something on top. It was somewhat triangular about 2" wide and 3" long at the longest point. The crust was a gelatinous mystery. I took a small bite--it was not edible. So I tried my micro-mini portion of fruit, literally 3 grapes, a thin slice of apple, a thin slice of orange one strawberry cut into 5 pieces. THAT'S IT! The coffee was fine but cost $4. Did you know you can get a cup of black coffee at Starbucks for $2.45. Ruth's Bloody Mary was listed at $$14. WTAF? The Canal Bistro has an AWESOME BLOODY MARY FOR $6. I finally stopped our waitress and asked what happened? She said "new owners". I said "former custermers . WE WILL NOT BE BACK. " what a shame. read more

I can't believe I have not reviewed Ruth's before. I love this place! I have been there for breakfast many times. I really love their scrambles and quiche. I have no idea what's in the red pesto but it is so good!!! Overall, it's a great little place. The coffee is good and that's important! I love all the signs. I didn't write a review the first two times. I thought it might be a fluke, but after the third time, I'm sure Ruth's is legit! The food quality is exceptional. What they prepare and serve, they do exceptionally well. The food is delicious. Nothing I've had at Ruth's hasn't been exceptional from presentation to taste. The food is so good. It's consistently good, and the more I talk about Ruth's the more great things I hear from others. Things like, "That's my favorite place to eat." or "Their food is so good!" The staff is friendly, and today, Nurse Ratchet took care of us. She did a great job of being present but never intrusive. It was a great meal with great food.
