Found this place on Apple Maps, when I was looking for somewhere different then Cafe Patachou to meet a co-worker... when I found it I immediately shot my co-worker the link so we could meet up at 7:30am the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised at how quaint and nice the place was. The meals were affordable and tasty! My co-worker and I both got the French toast, very good. The coffee was good as well. If you are like me and enjoy just a good cup of black locally roasted coffee, you'll enjoy it. Looking forward to taking my wife here for a nice breakfast soon. read more

Cafe Patachou vacated the space, and a local who lives around the corner decided now was the time to open up a breakfast establishment, because it's what the neighborhood wanted. And so became Rad's, named after a family member. I popped by Rad's with some coworkers and had coffee and breakfast. It's a small space, but luckily there's a waiting area with seating if you ever come at a busy time. I like its simplicity - serve yourself coffee and a one page breakfast/lunch menu. They have the regular dishes like oatmeal, granola bowls, pancakes and avocado toast to get your morning meal fix. The prices were reasonable, too. Great little spot to grab coffee or a meal with a friend! +They do have wi-fi, but limited wall outlets so I recommend bringing your devices charged up if you plan to work while here. read more

This is a great local spot that I recommend for either breakfast or lunch. Some friends and I chose it for a holiday gift this year. We met at Rad's and each person brought $100 cash. We ordered our meals. When it came time for the bill we handed over the cash and let the waitress keep the change. Of course that made the experience even better. Everything is fresh made from scratch and scrumdillyishous. It also feels good to support local. I know that a lot of businesses struggled through the pandemic and I'm sure Rad's is also one of them. But, they stayed open and didn't change pricing I will make this a regular spot. Try the Challah French Toast. You won't regret it. read more

Goodness, I had high hopes for this place. It is new, so maybe it's just the new kinks. The bright spot, hot coffee and pleasant servers. My chopped salad with salmon was decent but didn't have the avocado as promised. She brought me some. Dressing was good and you could tell it was homemade. Just seemed a little paltry but then again I didn't get the cheese. Hard to mess up eggs and sausage but my hubby thought the scrambled eggs were a little over cooked. I never got the ham and bean soup I ordered so can't comment on that. I thought it was that she didn't hear me order it, but it showed up on the bill. My Yelp review for Rad's started percolating in my brain from the get-go, unlike their coffee, which they ran out of (twice!) while we were there. And it was a Saturday. At noon. If there's ever a time to make sure you have coffee available, I would think it would be on the weekend during peak hours. I think it has to do with the way they do their coffee: It's in large carafes and you serve yourself. But they don't seem to pay attention to the carafes of coffee, and the staff waits until some hapless uncaffeinated soul goes to get a mug of coffee and finds them empty. Then, when the staff gets around to it, they remove the carafes and you have to wait 10 minutes until they're filled up. Now, you're probably thinking: Why don't they have a backup set of carafes so that there is always coffee available? Why can't they have one set brewing while the other is set out and ready to be used? I was thinking that, too, as I watched the carafes be depleted twice during my 30 minute visit. I did manage to get one cup of coffee, but I had to watch the carafes like a hawk and make sure to jump up from my table right when they were set out. Other people did the same, so there was (I'm not even exaggerating) seven people gathered around, empty mugs in their hands, in line for coffee. I felt like this was 1996 and I was standing in line at a Ticketmaster box office, hoping to snag tickets to Pearl Jam. It was a desperate scene. So that's the coffee situation. Then our food came, and my husband's biscuits and gravy were cold. I didn't believe him at first because my and my children's food was hot, and he's sometimes prone to exaggeration. I thought maybe it was just not as hot as it should be or something. So I took a bite of his food and nope -- it was cold. Like cold-cold. Was his food made first and left sitting out while ours was being prepared? I'm so enraged about the coffee and the cold biscuits and gravy that I jumped ahead of myself. When we first got there, we had no idea if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. There's no sign, and there's no one at the front to greet you. So we're standing there, looking for someone, anyone, to help us. A lady walks in after us and asks us what we do: do we put our names on a list or ...? I'm thinking, "Girlfriend, I'm as confused as you are, so I guess we're all in this together." So we stand around. There weren't any tables ready anyway, because several needed to be bussed. But apparently it wasn't an urgent issue, because the guy bussing the tables would meander over to the tables, put a couple of plates and glasses on a tray, then meander back to the kitchen and drop them off. A minute later he would emerge, meander back to the tables, put a couple more dishes on the tray, then meander back and disappear into the kitchen. I wanted to volunteer myself to help him bus the tables, that's how long it was taking and how ridiculous the situation was becoming. Jump to the end of our meal. We go to pay and they have these tablets that they run your credit card through that they bring to your table, and then you choose your tip by pressing one of the options on the screen. Except that they don't hand you the tablet and let you conduct your transaction and decide the tip privately. No -- the server held it in front of her and you have to decide what to tip as she's watching you. No pressure! Don't mind me looking into your face as I decide how much you're worth to me! I'll end this review with a few positives, because despite the fact that I'm never coming back, I did notice some positive things. One: My challah french toast was really tasty (and hot). Two: The bacon was cooked crisply and tasted excellent. Three: They provide a fresh fruit cup with their kids meals, and they cut their grapes in half lengthwise, which is the proper way to cut grapes when serving them to young children to help prevent choking. Wanted to like this little local place. Some of our food was served cold after taking much too long to come out, the restaurant was only 1/2 full so they weren't that busy. I got the frittata which was really small (literally thinner than a pancake) and came with no sides. It's not a good value for what you get here. Hash browns were cold and greasy, eggs Benedict was inconsistent, one egg was hard, one was runny, the hollandaise was curdled. Coffee is also not good, just watery and generic. Visited Rad's for brunch over the past weekend and overall it was good. I didn't give 5 stars mostly because of service. The restaurant is part of a strip mall and has a big parking lot in front of it. There is a plenty of seating inside and outside and the design is pretty clean and simple. We got seated and it took a while to get menus. Once we ordered, the food came out within reasonable time and tasted good. Our brunch didn't cost much but it also took a while to get our payment processed. Overall, we had an ok experience but it wasn't close to 5 stars. The Lemon Bar or Cafe Patachou would be closer to perfection in that sense. I think once service improves it would be a great place to visit again. read more

Cute little place located in the shopping center by the 126 and Gray roundabout. It feels like an upscale diner inside. The place was named after the owner's WWII veteran grandfather, Rad, and they have a few nods to that in the decor. We went around 12:30p on Sunday and our party of 4 was seated promptly. There is outdoor seating available, but we chose to be inside for the air conditioning. Even though the place wasn't packed, it was pretty loud given all the hard surfaces. The coffee is self serve and they had 3 varieties. My husband enjoyed the House Blend. Unfortunately they ran out of black tea, so I stuck with water. We ordered 2 cinnamon rolls for the table, which were served before the food came. They were really good, but would have been even better if they had been a bit warmer. Our food came out just as we finished the cinnamon rolls. Everyone really enjoyed what they got. The only except were the hash browns. It looks like they were made in a muffin tin, and the outsides were extremely crunchy and the inside was mushy. I dosed mine in ketchup, which made them edible. I'd recommend trying to sub for a different side. Overall, good experience and good food. Especially loved that we didn't have to wait long during a peak time on Sunday! read more

Brunch was totally RAD! This little gem is a family owned and family friendly joint in Carmel. It's tucked in the corner of a shopping center. Their menu is small, but they do it all consistently well. They also offer baked goods and specials to offer variety to their menu. The staff was not only friendly and professional, but they were also well educated on the menu, happy to be there, and overall very pleasant. A couple of excellent touches were the additional outdoor seating, table top sketch options, and the self-serve coffee bar. Restaurant focused on clean and fresh sourced produce, gluten free, and dairy free options. I ordered on line an oatmeal for breakfast. They said it would be a half hour. I showed up, and they said it would be ten more minutes. I work in that strip mall, and we were busy. So, I had to go back to work and come back. Came back. No one acknowledges I'm there for a few minutes. Then, I hand it to me. And walks away. I will never go back there. This little hole in the wall is a new favorite for hubby and I. Our first time coming in we weren't terribly impressed, but we liked the place. His biscuits and gravy we're slightly under seasoned, but it was nothing a little salt couldn't fix. My pancakes were surprisingly delicious. The fruit was great, there wasn't any filler fruit, very hearty. This time around- so very glad we came back. Hubby had the special, the breakfast tacos, which they nailed. The pico had kick, the cheese was just mellow enough- perfect for him. I had the basic breakfast, and my gosh their bacon. Hubby was drooling over it until I shared a piece with him. I had my first visit to Rad's recently and was left disappointed. The service was great and the environment was enjoyable, but my main thing to focus on at a restaurant is the food. In this case, the food was unsatisfactory. Looking at the menu I noticed the biscuits and gravy. I have always loved biscuits and gravy and today felt like a great day to get some. Unfortunately, the biscuits and gravy that I had at Rad's was not to my favor. The biscuits were bland at best, but this wasn't my least favorite part. The worst part was that the gravy tasted bland and like flour (likely too much flour was in the gravy). Overall, I left Rad's dissatisfied with the food. I would like to say I would go back sometime, but with the amount of good breakfast joints nearby I don't know if it would be anytime soon. Definitely wouldn't be for the biscuits and gravy, but maybe the service and something different. read more

Ran across this restaurant by accident. We first stopped at our tried and true Cade Patachou. But we were met by a line extended out the door. Not wanting to stand in the post Thanksgiving cold, we pulles out our phones and looked for a place for brunch. Rad's was close by the Patachou Carmel location and had great reviews. We went and glad we did. The restaurant is small and intimate. The staff were attentive from the time we entered until we left. The spinach salad I had was wondeful. It had the right balance of ingredients and the buttermilk ranch dressing was excellent. They are moving in the rifht direction with techonology. You are able to pay for the meal at your table without worrying were the wait staff have diaappeared with your card. This is a hidden jewel. I hope there are plans to open restaurants to other parts of the city. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit to Rad's. This simple, no fuss, classic American brunch spot gets my vote. I appreciated their limited breakfast menu focusing on fresh local ingredients. Not in the mood for breakfast? They offer a selection of sandwiches, homemade soups, salads and wraps. The whole menu is on one page and I liked that. Pricing was fair. My avocado toast topped with Smoking Goose chorizo, avocado, fried egg, and fresh pico de gallo was excellent. My only complaint and reason for the 4 stars is I left hungry. It just needed a little something extra. I would highly recommend the snickerdoodle coffee and on your way out be sure to grab an extra cup of joe to-go. Kids menu available. I noticed they offered vegetarian gravy to top their made from scratch biscuits. They also offered a small selection of pastries which would make a nice quick grab-and-go breakfast. It's a little cramped, but the overall experience was very good. The place has a nice, local vibe to it. I am not a fan of breakfast food, but that is where the group wanted to go. The soup was excellent, but I didn't really think the Reuben was noteworthy. It was just okay. My wife had the number one and enjoyed it. The vegetarian hash was a big hit with my sister. It was the special of the day, so I'm not sure how often it's available. My brother in law had the avocado toast with bacon instead of chorizo. He was happy with his meal, too. Checked out Rad's on a lazy Saturday a couple weeks ago. Overall, pretty average spot. I found the decor and atmosphere to be a bit "bare bones" as if they are still in progress of deciding what they want the restaurant to look like. We had no wait for brunch, which was nice, but I missed the hustle and bustle of what used to be Patachou. I found the menu to be very standard with no unique dishes. I found my pancakes to be fine, but boring and my husband thought his biscuits and gravy were lacking flavor. Not bad, but not that good. I think I'll stick with Patachou. read more

In Carmel, the brunch market is so difficult because you have to compete with Patachou, which is rockin in every way. But Rad's seems to have filled the shoes of the old Patachou location pretty well. The menu is good sized but not overwhelming and has options that anyone would enjoy. The tables are a bit close to each other so if it was more crowded, it would have been semi-awkward to sit so close to another party. I ordered the Avocado toast de jour, which is avocado toast with a fried egg(beware it's like a broken yoke egg so it's runny) and pico de gallo on challah bread. I enjoyed that they offered a variety of breads and it was sure tasty and fresh. And I'm not kidding, it came out of the kitchen in 6 minutes-crazy! I enjoyed my brunch here with a friend and would come back for the tasty food, I would just say that the environment could be a bit more cozy and inviting! read more

I stopped in with two other gals late morning on a Saturday. I expected the place to be packed, and while every table was full, it didn't feel claustrophobic. We waited for about 10-15 minutes before we were seated at a table that included a bench that stretched across the entire wall, making it easy to combine tables for larger parties. Before this table was available, the host asked if we wanted to sit at the bar where plenty of chairs were open. We opted out of this because we wanted to catch up and that doesn't make for easy conversation, but I've made a mental note of that seating option and appreciate the hospitality to seat us quickly! Like others have said, Rad's took the place of Patachou, and the coffee bar set up is similar to the previous establishment's. Our waitress was Rachel and she was really sweet and patient with us as we took a while to order. The waitstaff is mostly made of high school students- here's where I preach the gospel on tip karma. These kids are great, give them a little extra love! End scene. The name Rad's comes from the owners' grandfather, Rad Bailey, a WWII veteran. The decor has a laidback, rustic vibe with paper tablecloths perfect for doodling. Rad's menu features what you'd expect from a breakfast joint. Pancakes, French toast, eggs/pork/potatoes and other carbs all kinds of ways. They also have light lunch fare like sandwiches, soups and salads. There's a lot of variety to what you can get- I noticed vegetarian gravy under the biscuits and gravy, so something for everyone! Including kids. I had the omelet with asparagus, Bell pepper, spinach and Swiss cheese. The omelet normally comes with hash browns and toast, but I was able to swap those out with dressed greens and bacon. I was super pumped to see that wasn't an additional cost to change the sides like that! There is a chalkboard displaying the omelet toppings, avocado toast and coffee flavor of the day, and other goodies. Our coffee flavor was snickerdoodle and man was it tasty. A house blend and decaf options are also available. I'm glad the space went to a breakfast joint just around the corner from my house. Like I told the employee behind the counter for my fourth cup of snickerdoodle coffee, Patachou was fine, but Rad's is way more my style. Sometimes I just want some no-frills scrambled eggs, dammit. I'm sure this place will get more traffic once the 126th and Gray roundabout construction is up. Rad's is bound to be an east Carmel favorite. read more

This was a nice little find on a side of Carmel I'm not in often. Located in a small strip center, there's plenty of parking. Looks like the entire facility has recently been updated and it looks great. Rad's itself is very small but welcoming. We sat at the counter and got great service. Their regular, daily menu is rather small with really just a few items for breakfast and a few for lunch (with additional kids' meals). In addition to that menu, there were a handful of specials as well. I had the breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel and it was very delicious. Came with a side of hash browns which were also cooked very well. Has serve your own coffee station. Overall, great experience and would recommend. read more

I would go out of my way to go to Rads for breakfast and part of the reason is because of the name. This isn't a typical breakfast spot that has a stupid cliche name like Cracked Egg, Broken Yolk, Two Eggs, Sunnyside, Buttermilks, Juicy, or any such variance that is just as not creative. I don't know why Rads is named Rads and it doesn't matter because what matters is the coffee was hot the service was solid and the food couldn't have been better. There was a short wait but I was offered coffee while we waited. That's music to my ears, having coffee while we waited, just a few minutes at that. This new favorite breakfast spot of mine is small, seating maybe 45 customers. The menu isn't too big and it's not too small, it has a selection that accommodated even the gluten free request our party had. When we asked our server about gluten free options she was knowledgeable in her answer. A great breakfast is one of my favorite things in life and I look forward to coming back to Rads very soon. read more

This is small shop with a life size feeling! The lighting, atmosphere, decor is inviting and draws you in. On a Wednesday morning, the service was prompt and friendly. The server was able to patiently answer all questions I had and the food came in under 10 minutes. The grilled cheese sandwich was great, but the hot chocolate was not good at all. So I asked if I could switch it for orange juice and the server was able to do it without an issue. read more

I am moving to Carmel soon from California and wanted to check out some breakfast spots on New Year's Day. I came across Rad's and thought why not give it a shot. My gf and I visited and fell in love right away. I've always wanted to become a regular at a breakfast spot and I think I have found the crown jewel. The everything bagel sandwich was phenomenal and the French toast hit the spot! I will be back as soon as I am back in town and I can't wait to be a frequent visitor. This is an unassuming little spot nestled in the middle of a strip mall in Carmel that specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I met a friend there for lunch during the week, and we had our choice of tables and no wait time. The inside layout and decor reminds me so much of another breakfast/lunch spot in St. Louis called Red Oak Biscuits. I ordered the BLT because goat cheese. Nice touch, Rad's! Nice touch, indeed. I paired that with a mug of coffee and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Reviewing the menu, everything looked to be pretty health and freshly made. I also took notice that their kids menu had real food on it! There wasn't a chicken finger in sight! Rad's is a small spot in the strip mall at 126th and Grey where O'Malia's used to be. There are about 10 tables in the whole place, plus a small bar. We had about an hour wait on a Sunday morning for a party of four. The process of getting our name is was pretty chaotic and I finally just wrote my name down myself because no one was coming to take names. The coffee is serve yourself so I guess if you have to wait, at least it's not without caffeine. To eat, we got the breakfast tacos (which were a special that day) and the biscuits and vegetarian gravy. Both were really good and came with some delicious hash browns. The menu had a good mix of tradition breakfast and trendier or healthier options so please most anyone. I'm glad they're bringing some life back into that building! read more
