5 stars. I entered this dive bar dressed to the 9's after attending a fundraiser for Prevail. I proceeded to have a seat at the bar as the patron to my left commented that I was grossly overdressed for this establishment. He wasn't wrong, but a girl needed some food! I ordered the smoked wings and a side of fries. I chose water to drink because I wasn't in the mood for anything else. BEST WINGS ANS FRIES!!! TWO THUMBS UP! The wings and fries are perfection. No sauce necessary. I tried the teriyaki but it wasn't to my liking and the wings don't require anything extra. They are perfection straight outta the kitchen as served on butcher paper. The fries are probably the best fries I have ever eaten. Seriously. I'm a fry connoisseur - I know my way around a fried potato! Best part: the price! They are priced appropriately. Portions size is great. Hearty wings, not lil wing dings. I only did 6 wings, but next time I'll do the full 12 and take some home. Better than Ale Emporium - argue with ya mamma, not me! I've driven past the place many times and never stopped because the exterior is underwhelming. Boy, have I been missing out. I came here for the first time to watch a Purdue game with boiler buds. We got a high top that seats 8 and it's perfect for watching sports. The food is large, hearty, and excellent bar food. Be prepared to leave full and with leftovers. read more

In the area and decided on a late lunch/early dinner a Fat Dan's. My dining partner had the Italian beef with the sweet and spicy peppers. She said it was good. Peppers were very flavorful. It can be ordered dry, dipped or wet. She opted for wet. I had a Fat Dan's cheese burger which came on a grilled bun and was excellent. We also ordered a basket of tots. The first tots that came out were so salty they were inedible. I mentioned this and they were quickly replaced and these new tots were excellent. Very crispy and piping hot. Parking was easy as it's in a retail strip type location. Atmosphere is dive bar. Service was quick. I'd eat here again. Apologies, pics were taken after we had already dug in. read more

The food is amazing and what keeps us coming back. However, the bar/restaurant furnishings could use some attention. The tables, chairs and booths have seen better days, need new. Also usually uncomfortably cold temps, which makes us want to get out of there quickly, when I wish we could sit and enjoy longer. read more

This is a great dive bar. Food is consistent with their other two places. While I usually get a burger, I've branched out lately. Once for a pizza, once for a Chicago dog. I love a good Chicago dog. Fat Dan's is a neighborhood pub featuring Chicago style sandwiches and pizza. We stopped by after the kid's soccer games on Saturday, and the restaurant was hopping. They tell you to sit anywhere and a server will come by and take your order. We were served quickly and orders taken. We each got Chicago dogs. Their dogs are PACKED with all the fixings. My dog was delicious. We also shared an order of their "Best in the World Fries". They bring fries and food out to the table on a huge piece of paper. There were enough fries to feed all of Carmel and they were delicious. They have a great little kids menu with great prices. The kids could color while they waited and drinks for them were in cups with lids. Servers were friendly, checked on us several times and kept waters full. Service was great. I had only one complaint. The sun reflecting off cars in front of the restaurant was blinding. I was miserable. Perhaps shades would help. They have a couple tables outside. A great little spot in an unassuming strip mall type area. This location has a large variety of delicious burgers and delicious pizzas. You can even get a burger sampler where you can try three sliders of most of the options on the menu. I did exactly that the other day and tried some beer as well and both were delicious. Even though I tried three different ones, there are very many more options to pick from so I guess that means I will need to go back! What a dump!! College dive bars are immaculate compared to this place. I'm surprised it passes health inspections. The first thing you notice when you enter is your shoes stick to the floor as you walk. WHY ?!?! This is the first warning something's wrong. Then you notice the vinyl covers of the booth bench seats have gaping holes. Some are taped over, most are not. I feel lucky I didn't have to use the restroom. Probably dodged a bullet there. We ordered an Italian Beef sandwich and a cheeseburger with fries. The food was average and way overpriced. The fries were extremely overcooked and burned. Where do I start....hmmmmmm! Let's first start with the food...with so many yummy options to choose from, I had a hard time deciding what to get to eat. Finally, after much deliberation...and enjoying corn dog nuggets (highly recommend)...I landed on the Italian beef...wet. The Italian beef was very tasty and everything I had hoped for...it was served sopping wet with chips on the side. The only thing for me, was the spiciness started to get to me...but, totally a me thing...as I powered through every tasty bite. The atmosphere is that of a college sport bar type...you know...multiple tvs with different games on and the typical seating, along with some cool wall decor. Speaking of decor...you should check out the bathrooms while you are there...yes, you read that right ... the bathrooms. I really liked the industrial rustic vibe they give off. The server was nice, helpful and prompt...she had a very chill vibe about her...which always makes the ordering and dining experience that much better. Today I ordered the Rueben sandwich - tender house smoked corn beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, relish, thousand island on grilled rye bread. If you love wings, you've got to make a pit stop at Fat Dan's. They're smoked, so they stay nice and juicy and pack a TON of flavor. Sauce comes on the side, but I never even have to touch it! Fat Dan's specializes in all things greasy. Think stadium food meets street food. The menu is huge, and you're bound to find more than one thing to decide between. Let me start by saying the inside is way more impressive than the inconspicuous outside. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have tons of signs and a few TV's which are viewable from essentially any table. Also have a decent selection of draft beer. This location in particular offers stove-fired pizzas. I ordered the flat daniel, which is essentially a double cheeseburger. My SO got the fatty melt, a typical patty melt. We split an order of fries. The food comes out on a large paper sheet which is great for sharing. My burger was pretty good, but I wish it had some sort of aoli or other sauce to top it off. The fries were decent, but not as crunchy as I was hoping for. There was plenty for the two of us though. Overall, the food was a solid 3 stars but the atmosphere has me bumping this review up to 4 stars. read more
