I stopped here real quick as I was driving through time. It's in a real quiet side of town on the weekends. This would be a peaceful spot to get work done. Also it was spotless inside. The barista was great to suggest the maple syrup latte and that's what I went with. They were nice and quick with making the drink. Now taste I will say that they got the maple right on the head but too much milk for me I couldn't really taste the coffee as much as I would like. read more

Great coffee without a doubt! Usually very friendly but had one guy take my order without saying a word. I usually just get the tall black coffee which costs almost $5. Not cheap! I've been to a Quills in Louisville, so when I discovered on Yelp that there was one close to my hotel, I didn't hesitate to make my way there. I loved that the place has a ton of natural light, a great variety of seating options, the staff was friendly, my latte was delicious, and the croissant I got was perfect. They also had strong wifi, plenty of places to plug my laptop in, and let me tell you... this coffee shop is big with a ton of space which was another thing I really enjoyed about it. I like Quills, it's open and modern and very conveniently located on Meridian right before the heart of the city. My favorite seat is at any of the barstools lining the shop, facing the outside. Personally, I have always preferred a cozier, comfier coffee atmosphere so this one is a bit too simple for my taste... which is why I may lean towards other spots in the city. The menu is also a bit limited, and expensive, so feel like I haven't had a nice warm experience necessarily. However, I always get a lot done, and get a good kick of caffeine no doubt. I remember when this place was on the canal. Whenever I'm downtown I have to get coffee here. They have a signature flavor salted bourbon caramel that I usually get with their lattes. I'm on a cold brew kick right now so I just get cold brew because its less milk/alternative milk heavy and I only drink cold coffee drinks. Their cold brew is really good and I highly recommend! This place is AMAZING!! It is huge, beautiful, uses the space well, and had great drinks. I was able to find parking out in an alley near the back, but there are lots of side streets and main streets with parking around since it is near the library. There is lots of seating and it is nice and open, and very quiet. Seems like it would be a great place to work, and in fact there were lots of people working there on a Sunday morning! I got the cheddar bacon scone warmed up and one of their seasonal lattes. The scone was soft and not dry which I loved! It had great flavor. Quills is a really interesting place for me. First off, their newest location is stunning! So much light coming in through the windows and tons of seating options. It's an ideal page to study/ read as it is always quiet. I think their coffee is some of them best in Indy and their seasonal menus are always my favorite. Their fall menu in particular is incredible! The latte choices are so yummy and I'm never disappointed with their product. That being said, their staff are always super dry and unwelcoming. Never any greeting or smile, I order my drink, then they turn around and start making it before I even get my card out to pay. I don't expect small talk but maybe a "Hey there! What can I get you" or "We'll have that ready for you at the bar" would be nice. It's definitely not a one time thing either because it's always been my experience here. It won't stop me from coming cuz I love their coffee but it's definitely a place to come and get work done, not socialize or chat with the baristas. read more

Definitely a great and spacious place to work and relax in the middle of downtown. Street Parking was a breeze early morning and I enjoyed my Americano which was absolutely the way I liked it. It was pretty quiet from 7-9 and then started filling in really quickly. Quills is one of the better coffee shops in Indy with its refined menu options. Right now, "Stranger in the Alps" is one of my favorite specials--the cold foam is perfect. Beyond their coffee selection, the atmosphere is spacious, quiet (even when it's full), and offers a good place to get some work done. Their baristas are consistently kind, patient, and helpful. I happened upon this place while in the downtown area. It is easy to miss, as it's down a no-exit skinny street, but judging by the amount of guests hanging out/working inside, it is well known locally. Once I read about their signature bourbon salted caramel drink, I couldn't change my mind, despite the seasonal specials sounding awesome. It's a little on the darker side indoors, with relaxing vibes, and very chill but polite staff. Prices are reasonable, especially since going from a regular to a larger size is only 25 cents more - score! My drink came quickly and I headed out (closest parking is metered). Wow, what amazing flavor in a coffee! I immediately didn't get any sweet notes but just the coffee itself was great. As I kept drinking, the many layers of flavor became obvious. I don't think I've ever drank a beverage so quickly. I came back a few days later and was happy with the consistency in this divine drink. What a cute spot! To be honest I couldn't even tell you here exactly it is, but it was kind of off an alley (i think). I was desperate for a cup of coffee this afternoon and this was the closest location. It was great! I ordered the salted Bourbon caramel (hot) with an extra shot of espresso and it was perfection! They use a drip brew, which I had never tried before, and kind of like. It was definitely different and I did notice the flavor was stronger. I did try Mi Amor's who got it as it's made and it was great! A little too sweet for me but I enjoyed the flavor. The ambiance in the coffee shop was perfect! The ambience is PERFECT to get work done/read/study/focus. The place is quite and most of the people there are working so it helps to keep the environment quite. The music in background is perfect for focusing and getting stuff done. I love the space with a ton of natural light, modern and essential. I biked there so I am not sure about parking. We tried a brown sugar bourbon latte and a maple syrup latte, and both were excellent and unique. The bourbon latte, in particular, had a surprisingly strong bourbon flavor that caught me off guard as a non-alcohol drinker. Next time, I'd probably add a little vanilla or something to mellow it out, but the coffee itself was bold and held its own beautifully against the milk and syrups. Their Ethiopian is high quality, great fruitiness, makes wonderful pour over. Their blends are fun as well. Prefer this location over previous 9 on canal location as it feels more personalized to them as a coffee shop. Plenty of seating. Parking street side and a lot across if just want to run in and out. Cold brew strong and smooth. Hours extend into evening to likely accommodate college crowd in downtown indy. Often in overlooked in regards to indy coffee scene, likely due to being based out of Louisville. Quick stop among errands and Quills did not disappoint. The locally made oat-milk with the bold, balanced espresso created the smoothest sip I've had in a long time. It was a rich, but not overpowering latte. Their homemade cookies were addicting. We got the last two chocolate chip and it complimented the latte well. The flavor of the dough itself was tasty, let alone the dispersed chocolate morsels. The crisp and crumbly bite from the outer circle, to the perfect chewy center; the added salt on top made it not too sweet. Seriously, order one if they're still there. This out of the way coffee shop is perfect for a meet up before a canal walk. It is located within an apartment co pled so parking is best on Senate where there are usually a few free spots. The inside is cozy with quite a few tables and couches and a seemingly den type atmosphere. It was rather busy during the morning hour when we tried it out, so we only had one option for seating. If you want to take a drink to go however you can stroll down to the canal and sit on a bench in the sunshine. I got a 12 oz Alchemist which had mocha and ceyenne pepper and offered a nice kick! It was fun to try but a bit too much of a kick for so early, but it was done well. I was surprised that the 12 oz and 16 oz were only .25 cents different so tried to order a 16 oz. The room was loud so they only rang me up as a 12 oz which was ok but I felt a bit disappointed. I get it but noticed the lack of desire to correct my order. My only other thought was if you offer alternative milks please consider not charging so much for a latte with them! I know it costs more than dairy milk but you only add a small amount and the cartons are usually $4 at the most. Plus there i no signage for the additional fee and I felt a bit disgruntled at my small high priced latte. Honestly I would have just gotten tea or would bring my own milk next time. I really feel like it shouldn't be such a steep hike as if I ordered it with gold leaf or something. Sigh. Anyway, a cute den like coffee spot if you are walking along the canal and feel like a beverage. read more
