Matcha, you can pick unsweetened, honey, or vanilla syrup
    Lauren W.

This cafe is a great spot to grab decent coffee or matcha when you're in town. The ambiance is clean, there's plenty of seating, and the staff are friendly. Upon entering, we noticed a steady line that persisted while we waited for our drinks. They offer a solid selection like pourovers, espresso-based drinks, sepcialty lattes, matcha, and more. That said, I wish the specialty lattes had descriptions since the name alone don't reveal what's in them. One of the highlights is the open counter that was low enough to watch the baristas work. It's fascinating to see how quickly and precisely they prepare each drink, measuring everything with care. For me, that was the most enjoyable part of the visit. Once the line died down, I asked the cashier about the matcha since I really enjoyed it with a little vanilla syrup. She said it was Japanese, ceremonial-grade. As someone who buys matcha regularly, I consider that a bare minimum for a cafe serving it. What I really wanted was the brand-it makes a difference. Instead, she suggested I could find matcha at Whole Foods or another grocery store. Her response was completely unhelpful, despite being delivered kindly.

I have been wanting to try this coffee shop, and finally made it! It is located in a house that was transformed and it really has a great open concept with plenty of seating. There is a parking lot behind the building, and also a ramp. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Sundae Parlor, and was so excited to see a latte with banana, vanilla and white chocolate. The presentation was beautiful, but I was a bit disappointed as I didn't really get any of the banana, vanilla or white chocolate flavor coming through. It took a fair amount of time to get our order.

Finally tried Indie Coffee Roasters after years of saying they were too far away. The Woodsman latte gave me all the cozy feels. Vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a smoky note of hickory mixed with this weather almost had me thinking it was fall.

Spending a weekend in Carmel, I stumbled into Indie Coffee Roasters and couldn't help but fall in love with the place. Maybe it was the bright and cheery (dog friendly!) atmosphere, the array of dogs I met on the patio, the friendly staff, or the absolutely delicious latte I enjoyed... but regardless, I really enjoyed my hour spent here. The drink I ordered was just what I needed, and while I can't recall exactly what it was called, the blend of coffee, cinnamon, and subtle sweetness was excellent. The only downside to Indie Coffee Roasters is that I live out of state and won't be able to visit often! 10/10 recommend!

Definitely put Indie Coffee Roasters on your radar which might not be easy to do because with limited parking it's rather easy to drive right by. However they don't make coffee complicated and for that I would gladly park down the street and walk for a solid cup of coffee or any variation of. The house like setting provides a comfortable atmosphere to stay and work or just enjoy the space. Very sanitary feeling here, definitely clean and then some. A limited menu featuring coffee was displayed as was a small selection of t shirts hats and mugs. The Seinfeld reference was noticed and appreciated. I didn't pickup that blend, maybe once we get closer to Christmas I may. Fast efficient service made this visit a quick one. Within close walking distance to everything I would not hesitate to come back for another cup to go.

I flew in on 12/20/24 just in time for Christmas!

My first stop in Indiana was none other than the Indie Coffee Rosters. Clearly landing at 6 am from Seattle meant that I needed coffee to perk me up and get me on local time. Let me start off by saying -- this is the PERFECT cafe for dog lovers. I have a 15 year old doxie and let's just say the ambiance was pulling at my heart strings immediately. Love a nice clean open space. The merchandise and branding was on point. Coffee was good! Service was exceptional! Kindness is truly something that is valued in Indiana. Love it there!

What has two thumbs and is a sucker for local businesses in a restored house AND dog themed? This girl. I was in town for work and my coworkers highly recommended this place. We made a coffee run later in the afternoon and I was kinda mad I had to go back to the office because I could have hung out at Indie Coffee Roasters the rest of the day! Staff is super helpful and I appreciated the recommendations from their just small enough menu. Dare I say, I already had enough coffee at that point in the day so I went with a tea drink which is very unlike me. It had mango, coconut and I could have had like three more of them. It was absolutely delicious and well crafted. Love supporting small and local!

I am so blessed to live so close to Indie Coffee Roasters. It's for sure one of the best coffee shops in the arts & design district. The inside is huge & well spaced. It's definitely a place to go if you have some work that needs to get done. The outside patio is great as well. The coffee is gorgeous and tastes SO good. They only have a few specialty drink choices but each one is frankly great so i can't complain. The coffee is made to order, nice and hot. They also bring your coffee to you, which i think is a nice little add. You have to try!

Nice little shop on Main Street. We rode our bikes and sat outside on the patio. A little bit more expensive than others in the area but seemed popular based on the traffic. I do really like their whole bean coffee and buy it to brew at home. They have a small parking lot in back but there is street parking all around which is your better bet. Friendly place but can take a bit to get your order. Worth checking out if in the area.

Ask the Community - Indie Coffee Roasters

Do you have drinks other than coffee? Meeting a colleague there and I'm not a coffee fan. (I'm sure your product is great for coffee lovers). Chai? Juices? I saw something called a "dirty chai"....what is in that?

Thank you for your question, Dan! A dirty chai does contain coffee (an espresso shot) but we also offer chai lattes which are coffee-free, a variety of teas, and local Circle Kombucha.

    Are they pet-friendly?

Unfortunately, due to health department regulations, we can’t allow pets inside our space. However we gladly welcome them on the patio! Thanks!

    Do they make cortados?

Yes, we absolutely do. Hope you’ll stop by to try one!

If I walk there with a stroller, is there an entrance I can use that doesn't require stairs?

Yep, we have an entrance in the back that you’ll be able to easily use! Just walk up the drive, to the west of the building and you’ll see it!

I had my three year old with me so we ordered the blackberry brown sugar latte and a kids hot chocolate. She picked out a blueberry muffin and I had a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. That muffin? Excellent. I was honestly a little jealous I couldn't steal it from her. My sandwich was great, exactly what you'd expect from the name. I really enjoyed the latte! It's not a flavor I'd normally go for and almost went for the cookie butter latte but I'm glad I tried something new. As for the hot chocolate--I've never seen my child finish a hot chocolate. Ever. She inhaled it. The shop itself was way bigger than I expected. Super welcoming and open with plenty of space and seating. It was pretty crowded but there was also still plenty of seating. We ended up sitting close to the register (I let my daughter choose where we sat) and the people behind the register were on top of it. One person overheard me tell my daughter I needed to go ask for a to go box and they grabbed one without me having to even get up. They were very kind and attentive! I really appreciated how welcoming the atmosphere was. I'm looking forward to going back soon!

I met up with my family for brunch, and we were all in a waffle kind of mood. I ordered the banana granola waffle and it was next-level good! The waffle was perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and layered with just the right balance of sweetness and texture from the ample amount of bananas, whipped cream, and granola. Paired with a cinnamon maple latte? I was one deep breath away from writing a personal thank-you letter to the hands that prepared that plate! But honestly, one of the best parts of the visit was the energy. The woman running the register was giving full-on main character vibes. You could tell immediately she wasn't just taking orders--she was living the dream. The care. The joy. The way she engaged every single customer. That kind of presence can't be faked. It felt like ownership--even if it wasn't, it carried that level of pride and purpose. The indoor seating is cozy (read: tight but charming), but there's plenty of outdoor seating and as Indiana finally remembers what sunshine feels like, this is going to be the spot. Perfect for lingering over a latte, reading a book, or catching up with a good friend. Come for the coffee. Savor a waffle. Watch out for the redhead!
