Cozy little hideaway in the Lockerbie Square area! This cafe is in an old church and features a variety of handcrafted coffee (including Turkish coffee), teas and pastries. I stopped in for a brown sugar latte to go and had the friendliest service. After the barista took my order, he told me to find a seat and he'd bring it out to me. The coffee was really well balanced - not too sweet, which let the coffee flavor be the star. This would be a great place to go with friends when you have more time to linger and enjoy the atmosphere. Parking isn't the best. I paid $6 for the lot next to the cafe, which was an all day rate. There might be other options but I was on a schedule and just went with what I found closest to the cafe. read more

This place is totally worth checking out if you want to sit and sip a coffee or matcha while getting work done, chatting with friends, or just hanging out for a while in the air conditioning. There are so many seating options available and the decor/furniture is so cool. It is located inside an old church (definitely hit up the restrooms while you are here to see the beautiful stained glass windows). The guy working there was very kind and attentive. He brought us our drinks in very cute ceramic cups and he brought our bakery items after warming them in the oven. Nowadays it's rare to find a cozy study spot like this. Most big chain cafes are built with uncomfy hard seats, but Red Door has a bunch of cozy sofas and seating areas to get work done all day. I wish they had more food options/bigger portions but I understand. Such a sweet little neighborhood spot, with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside with our dogs and when I went to the bathroom (which is huge and I like the decor), saw they have the sweetest event space too. It would be a great place for a holiday or other party. Attempted to go to a nearby coffee shop on a Monday and that one was closed so we did a quick search and saw that this shop was nearby. It wasn't super obvious where the entrance was as there were a few different red doors but we found it! Very cute interior with several soft seating options, antiques, and plants. They serve Intelligentsia coffee which I have always found to just be "okay" but they had fun latte flavors. I almost ordered the Red Velvet latte but couldn't resist trying the Nutella latte. It was good. I wouldn't necessarily rush back but would certainly go again if I was in the area. I had never heard of this place up until a few weeks ago when a friend suggested we meet here for morning coffees. I'm surprised this place isn't more popular because this has the aura of a place where you would find social media influencer wannabes (like me). Vibes - IMMACULATE Coffee - TOP TIER Barista - LOCKED IN Two things that stood out to me: First, when I walked in there were a group of about four people chatting at a seating area near the counter. A few older scholarly looking guys and a middle aged female police officer. All smiling, laughing, enjoying their coffee. It felt like a friend group from a TV show and created a welcoming atmosphere, like in this place, everyone could drop all of their differing opinions and just be friendly. Second, and I was notified of this firsthand by the barista which was great cos I might not have realized this otherwise, their larger seating area in a separate room is a quiet space for folks to focus on work. I don't see that very often in coffee shops. It feels like a secret safe haven now that I can escape to when I need some quiet time to work or read. Highly recommend this spot. read more

I've visited The Cyrus Place event venue for a party before, so I was excited to see them add this little coffee shop in the building as well. As you can guess by the name, it's marked by a bright red door that makes you just want to see what's on the other side. There are a few parking places in a little attached parking lot or you can opt for street parking. I walked inside and immediately enjoyed the greenery, red brick, and eclectic musical instruments and tea equipment decorating the space. There are a few tables, as well as a hidden back room. My favorite part of my visit was the cool bartender who shared a funny story of something that happened that day and was super easy to chat to. She's the kind of person you want in an intimate cafe experience so that you feel right at home. I saw a row of organic tea boxes that all sounded good, saw a few coffee options written on a board, and then saw another sign with a drink special listed on it, but they were all at different parts of the counter, so I didn't really understand if there was a set menu and would like one with all of the options listed on it. I asked about the types of milk they offered because I didn't see that written anywhere either (and sorry if it is written somewhere and I just missed it!). Regardless, I ended up ordering a matcha latte with almond milk and it was delicious. I'd be happy to come back! read more

So great to see this space alive again in the Lockerbie Square neighborhood. There are a handful of tables for working but I would say it's more of a grab and go vibe. However, in the warmer months, the side patio with umbrellas is the best spot in the house. They offer an assortment of teas, coffee and a few baked goods made by the owner's wife. I would describe this as less of a third wave style coffee shop and more so pumped syrups and coffee beans from Chicago (Intelligentsia). They had a fun French jazz playlist on during my visit. It's a little on the darker side but moody and charming. Overall, a great addition to downtown and happy to see them here. read more

What a gorgeous hidden little coffee shop! I absolutely love the menagerie of plants by the windows all around to make the place feel like a cozy little greenhouse. I went around 1 pm on a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all, so I got my order pretty quickly. My order Cappuccino ($5): a perfect balance of coffee and milks, needing no sweetener whatsoever (even if you're a sweet tooth like me!) Chocolate chip cookie ($3): delish! Comes warmed too. My only critique is that it would be nice if there were some savory options in terms of food. While I love a sweet pastry with my coffee, it's nice to have something to balance a sweeter coffee drink. One step in it has all the greenery, warmth and coziness you would crave in a coffee shop. The touches to the unfinished brick wall are so aesthetically pleasing. You see different decor like a king size lamp, boat tucked in each corner. The Americano and orange cranberry scone need no introduction- just the right flavor and touch. Stumbled upon this quaint cafe while looking for a last minute alternative location to meet up with a small group. This was the perfect place! This place is two blocks from the James Whitcomb Riley house, and it has become a tradition for us to stop in for a little treat before their creative writing camp every summer. At our most recent visit, several neighborhood dogs were on the patio with their people. It feels like a very intimate space where most people know each other and all are welcomed with open arms (and paws). I love that they always offer to heat your dessert, so we can have a nice warm cookie on our visits. The employees are always very kind and welcoming, too! read more

I was parked just a few blocks away from Red Door and after a short walk from Mass Avenue, the signs for the cafe caught my eye. I had always known about the Cyprus event center but hadn't been to the cafe until today. The signs out front were very welcoming and upon entry a few things caught my eye. The beautifully marbled floor, the comfortable yet classy seating area for those who want to work remote or sip coffee in the coffee shop, and the unique instruments that were hung on the wall. The person working was so kind and recommended the chai latte with a pump of pumpkin spice. It was delicious! It looked like they had a smaller menu of classic coffee/espresso choices (but I didn't spend too much time looking at the menu as I was distracted by how beautiful this place was). I believe they close around 2 pm so I recommend going early so as not to miss it before closing. It's definitely a gem in this city and thankfully isn't too hidden! Adorable little cafe that opened up recently!! We met the owner who gave us a little tour of the upstairs and downstairs spaces for events. This building is gorgeous with stained glass windows and high ceilings, it would be perfect for corporate events or nice parties. What a hidden gem! This place literally blew my mind. It is an old church, I believe, turned into a coffeeshop by day, venue by night! The coffeeshop portion is so cute with lots of greenery, I literally did a little photo shoot with all the plants! There is minimal seating where you order your drinks but a larger seated area through a door across the way. It is giving sophisticated but down to earth vibes and they have plenty of syrups (even more obscure ones) which allows you to customize your drink of choice however you want! The barista was sweet and allowed us to walk around and see the beauty of this building and the upstairs auditorium/ceremony room/venue!
