I asked a group of local women for a coffee shop recommendation in the Nora area and basically every single lady said Illumine. Of course, I had to check it out. I had my three year old with me so we ordered the blackberry brown sugar latte and a kids hot chocolate. She picked out a blueberry muffin and I had a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. That muffin? Excellent. I was honestly a little jealous I couldn't steal it from her. My sandwich was great, exactly what you'd expect from the name. I really enjoyed the latte! It's not a flavor I'd normally go for and almost went for the cookie butter latte but I'm glad I tried something new. As for the hot chocolate--I've never seen my child finish a hot chocolate. Ever. She inhaled it. The shop itself was way bigger than I expected. Super welcoming and open with plenty of space and seating. It was pretty crowded but there was also still plenty of seating. We ended up sitting close to the register (I let my daughter choose where we sat) and the people behind the register were on top of it. One person overheard me tell my daughter I needed to go ask for a to go box and they grabbed one without me having to even get up. They were very kind and attentive! I really appreciated how welcoming the atmosphere was. I'm looking forward to going back soon! read more

Blackberry brown sugar coffee, fire. We had delicious chocolate and sugar croissant as well as egg sandwiches on bakery sourdough bread. All our coffees were brewed with love and joy, yum!!! Fantastic service. We got it to go but it is a peaceful, quiet place for a lovely breakfast with a loved one! Enjoy! read more

Such a great experience at this coffee shop! The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. I ordered a matcha latte and it was absolutely deeeeelicious, definitely one of the best I've had. There was plenty of space for my friend and me to sit and relax, and the overall vibe was just really nice and comfortable. My friend ordered the poached egg with a croissant, and the croissant was just as delicious .. flaky and fresh. I'll definitely be back for another visit... and another green matcha! read more

Illumine Coffee - Matcha Latte - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

My Earl Grey latte had that kind of thick, creamy foam that almost looks like marshmallow fluff. Yum! I ordered it with oat milk (one of the milk alternative options). They really know how to do a good latte here at Illumine Coffee, even a tea latte, and even a tea latte made with a milk alternative. I don't usually get lattes, but I was feeling a little indulgent. My go-to is a black coffee. I seem to remember visiting Illumine Coffee once before, and I believe I got the house drip coffee, and I think I thought it was OK. I need to visit again and get the black coffee and see if my opinion about their black coffee has changed. Illumine was packed when I visited on a weekday morning. Every single table and chair was occupied, but I managed to sit at a table with a couple of ladies who weren't using the other side of their table. After a while (maybe 20 minutes or so), I was able to get a table to myself, but trust me when I say: At certain times of the day, tables are a hot commodity at Illumine! So if you plan to work remotely, which a lot of people were, keep in mind that you might need to fight off a few people first. There are some baked goods available from local bakeries, including 4 Birds, A&M Baked Goods and Moonlight Baking Company. You'll find things like cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, cookies, muffins, croissants, donuts and even a kouign amann. They also have breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches, both served until 4:30 p.m. Basically, Illumine is a much-needed spot in Nora to grab coffee and a pastry. It's also a cute place to hang out and work, or meet up with a friend. read more

Walked in not knowing what to expect in this older strip mall, warm and inviting is what it exuded! Cute shop, music perfect level so you can talk or work, and the crowd was varied on a Wednesday afternoon. Immediately welcomed at the counter and love that they have 4BirdBakery items!! Had a great old fashioned donut and a mocha! Great and great! Pros Easy parking Cute space with great volume music Seasonal choices for coffee (everyone after ordered the strawberry mocha latte or something like that! Cons Nada- just go read more

Illumine Coffee sits off Westfield Blvd in a small complex that is close to North Central High School. In Nora, it features your standard coffee menu, but I would have to say that the latte was one of the better ones. It was $5, and I got mine with 2% milk. There's an up charge of $1 for alternative milk. Always a gripe of mine because the people who cannot have dairy should not get up charged essentially 15-20%. I think though most coffee shops do, but it's not very "illuminating" in my opinion. The vibe is definitely one that encourages either deep conversation or Lofi study vibes. Dim lighting, pretty good coffee, and a location that kinda doesn't make sense but attracts your younger demographic. read more

Such an awesome neighborhood coffee shop. Super cute and laid back vibes. This place does fill up quickly, so just keep that in mind when you're rolling in around 10am to snag a table (lol!). My go to lately has been a chai tea latte with lavender and almond milk. However, since I am on a matcha tour I had to check theirs out. I went with a blackberry matcha with almond milk and it was amazing. They also have great breakfast items and my favorite is the toasted bacon & egg sandwich. Highly recommend! +Great parking read more

My husband and I stopped by Illumine Coffee this morning and enjoyed a blackberry brown sugar iced latte and chai iced latte--they were delicious! I had planned to order just the blackberry iced latte, but shoutout to the staff for the fantastic recommendation as the blackberry brown sugar is supposedly a number 1 seller! The service was quick, kind, and right on point. It's clearly a local favorite, with plenty of people gathered to chat, study, or simply enjoy their drinks and treats. I also love the shop's motto, "Be the Light"--it perfectly matches the warm and uplifting atmosphere. Such a cute spot all around! read more

Met up for bookclub and we were all surprised how busy it was on a weekend around 3pm! Cute little coffee shop, great for working out of. It's a pretty spacious spot, with plenty of seating, including some tables outside on the patio. The service was friendly, the wifi was strong, the bathrooms were clean, and there's a good sized parking lot right out front. The vibes were pretty chill and you could tell they cultivate a community here, just based on the customer interactions that I noticed. I ordered a matcha and it was pretty basic, nothing too exciting. That said, they had a nice drink menu that included some seasonal options along with food. I noticed baked goods from several other local businesses, which I love to see. There were also a few sandwiches on the menu. Nice coffee shop for the neighborhood, for sure. read more

I've been on the hunt for the coziest coffeehouse in Indy, Illumine did not disappoint. I stopped here on a Saturday afternoon to get some work done & really enjoyed it. It was a very chill atmosphere & it seemed like a lot of other people were there to work & some friends gathered to catch up. I had the Carmel Cookie Butter latte with oatmilk & whoa, 10/10! I also had the croissant cinnamon roll & it was pretty good too and not too sweet. Stopped by early on a weekday, and it seemed like a busy place, with a lot of people hanging out, though I only had one person in front of me in line. Really seems more like a sit and sip place rather than grab and go, and the barista takes their time making a good cup, rather than rushing you out. For the coffee itself, I had the blackberry brown sugar (an underrated flavor) latte, and I swear the cup had a hole in it with how quickly I drink it. Very tasty. In hindsight, it makes me laugh that I left a lowkey shitty review instead of reaching out directly to let them know what happened. Ugh, a reminder to self to show grace when supporting local small businesses. Review updated to say: they've worked the kinks out since opening and Illumine has been my go-to Indy coffee shop for the last two years. If you're a cold brew fan...theirs is the best. This feels like more than a coffee shop. I've been twice and both times, I've had a laugh with the baristas and ran into a friend or two. It felt very communal in the best way. The owners are super sweet and care about their community. I personally don't drink a lot of coffee but I know it's good quality and I enjoyed a fun holiday latte last time I was there that I loved. They also have tea options and locally baked goods. The seating situation is really good here. There are a lot of tables with chairs that are perfectly set up for co-working. There is also a seating area up front without tables for those who want to relax with good conversation instead of laptops. We had a plug by our table so were able to co-work easily. Illumine has a free parking lot and is only a few blocks off The Monon. After you stop in, I highly recommend stopping in Global Gifts next door or Chris' Ice Cream across the street for Indy's #1 tacos (yes, they make both ice cream and tacos from scratch). I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Wonderful little local coffee spot with great service. The glass entrance door was broken though and every time a customer entered or exited the door slammed so hard it was a miracle it didn't shatter. Hope they've fixed that by now for safety reasons. read more

I finally had a chance to check out this great coffee shop after reading so many stellar reviews. The space was bustling with to go orders alongside those having meetings and coworking. The staff was friendly and you could tell they take their coffee seriously. Note that they roast their own beans. you can see a little of the magic in the back of the building. Today was my second time visiting Illumine coffee. I was in the area early for an appointment so I figured I'd stop in. Firstly, I appreciate that a local coffee shop has hours later in the afternoon (they close at 5!). I was disappointed in this last visit however because they were all out of Chai concentrate! Thanks to the Yelp event I tried the Maple Vanilla Latte with half sugar and it was excellent! Not too sweet and I'm a sucker for anything maple. Very welcoming and a modern vibe! The baristas are super friendly...willing to answer any of your questions... I feel the need to disclose that I am not a coffee drinker...nor do I consume caffeine (at least the amount that is found in coffee and other caffeinated beverages)...however, I am a hot chocolate drinker. So, it was to my delight that they offered hot chocolate as an option. The hot chocolate was tasty and I loved the artistic foam on top. The only thing missing for this gal...was whipped cream. The absence of whipped cream didn't take away from the experience...however, it is something that adds to the experience for me...especially, if it is topped with mini chocolate cups or chocolate syrup. But, again...the staff experience and the hot chocolate both were great... So...if you e made it this far...what are you waiting for?! Gooooo .:) read more

Brighten up your morning with a delightful stop at Illumine! This is my new favorite spot for coffee. It's full of sunlight with a front wall of windows and has lots of tables to set up shop and work on your laptop. We stopped in this morning as a family and got a mix of drinks, hot and iced. We had a pair of lattes that were diverse in flavor and sweetness. My wife said "there's definitely something for everyone!" (That included a large chocolate chip cookie ) The folks behind the counter were awesome and not only served up some excellent coffee quickly, we also got into a fantastically nerdy conversation. I'm always looking for a good local coffee shop, but I think I just stumbled on a great one! I recently started working in this area and typically just drive across 86th Westbound, so I never saw this spot. However, a local friend mentioned it so I thought I'd stop in. I immediately fell in love with the vibe and was shocked at how surprisingly spacious it was. Plenty of tables, chairs, and...OUTLETS! IYKYK! However, you go to a coffee shop for the coffee. I went with one of my favorites...a honey lavender latte. It was fantastic! Not too sweet...just right. The music was loud enough to serve as the perfect soundtrack to read a book, knock out some work on the laptop, or simply enjoy a latte and have a moment to think about what it means to "be a light".
