Caffeine is still a necessity in the morning and Sunny Day Cafe's coffee is very good. No generic, bad tasting drip coffee here! My friend was craving pancakes, so she ordered a stack. I was torn between the biscuits & gravy, and the french toast. The biscuits & gravy won out and I had a couple of eggs added on top. I'm also a big hash brown kind of guy so I ordered some on the side. The pancakes looked very good as did the biscuits & gravy. I can't speak for the pancakes, because I didn't get a chance to sample them, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the B&G's. The gravy was kind of thin and tasteless. The biscuits were nice, and the eggs were cooked just like I asked. It wasn't bad, but not up to par with other places I have had biscuits & gravy from. (My house included.) The hash browns were disappointing also. They had an odd taste to them. Kind of like they had been cooked in the same spot as seafood was just cooked and used the residual oil. It was very off putting. Next time I will order the french toast. It has a nice selection of berries that are served with it, and sounds delicious. Overall, Sunny Day Cafe is a nice place for breakfast. The prices are reasonable, and the portions a nice size. The staff is great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. The sandwich was the most basic sandwich that my 12-year old daughter would have laughed at. It was a paper-thin provolone and an even thinner slice of ham on some OK sourdough that was barely grilled. The soup was just some thinned out broth with a few chunks of beef and a couple cubed potatoes. The coffee menu looked good though.

The highlight for me was the Pistachio Napoleon -- a flakey puff pastry filled with silky smooth pistachio custard; pair it with the Green Velvet for the double pistachio action. That was delicious. I would probably go back to give Bica another chance as I ordered takeout and didn't get to take a very good look at the menu before picking up the order. While we were waiting, a large group came in and greeted Olivia and I asked if they were related as I noticed a striking resemblance of this sweet young lady. It was several members of her family and they all sat down next to my mother and I along the remaining counter seating which was fun. She informed us that she had recently started working there and was very kind, outgoing, and smiling frequently as she cleaned up various tables in the dining room. Her mom was so nice to chat with that her family asked my mom and I to lean in for a family photo they took. This made for an entertaining meal. I also had a chance to chat with another nice customer from Muncie who was waiting for a table to open up. Friendly atmosphere, delicious food, kind people, and great view for observation continue to make this one of my favorite places to return when visiting my hometown. I come from a land where great breakfast burritos can be found everywhere (you know the place), so my standards are high. And then I tasted the breakfast burrito at Mornings Breakfast & Brunch in Fishers. And now ... well. If someone asked me, now, where my favorite breakfast burrito is located, Mornings might pop into my head. Because the breakfast burrito here is bangin'. It's appropriately mushy in all the right places. (If you know me, then you know that "mushy" is a big compliment when describing a burrito.) It has hash browns that aren't too crispy, diced bacon (or whatever other meat you choose), scrambled eggs, cheese, all wrapped in a thin flour tortilla. The breakfast burrito also comes with a side of sour cream and salsa verde, plus an additional side. I chose fried potatoes. I got my breakfast burrito to go, like you should. Do people eat burritos sitting down in a restaurant? Aren't they made to be eaten in a car, precariously gripped in one hand, with the other had on the steering wheel, maneuvering around roundabouts? Or in a car, dripping sweat into the to-go container as you hover over it to shove the last bits of burrito into your face after a vigorous yoga session? Burritos are meant to be eaten in cars, obviously, so I got my breakfast burrito to go. Burritos, like many things, taste better when they're eaten in a car. When I visited Mornings early in the morning, the music was blasting in the dining room. I don't know if they always have it this loud, or if maybe they were just trying to pump up the staff, or if maybe I'm just old and everything is loud now, but the music was very loud. Like, "raise your voice to talk to the person across the table" loud. I guess just keep that in mind. Or let that be yet another sign that you need to get your food to go and eat it in your car.
