I had a meeting scheduled here but had an hour to fill beforehand - not enough time to go home but too long to waste, so I decided to head here early. It turned out to be a GREAT place to work. Inspiring, yet not distracting. Plus they have a cute holiday backdrop set up right now! Everything on the menu always looks good, but I'm committed to The Douglas, sub chicken etouffee and jalapeño jam. I never remember to take a picture before devouring it so you'll just have to trust me
Hope you have access to a treadmill and some blood thinners. Pretty hard to find anything healthy on this menu. They unapologetically serve up food thats calorie and fat content is enough to make Paula Dean blush. But sometimes that hits the spot, doesn't it? I got their eggs benedict which is served on one of their giant calorie-bomb biscuits. And it was yummy ! Lots of hollandaise sauce for dipping my side dish of loaded home fries which was in of itself a nightmare of carbs and cheese. But it was yummy too. I think it would be hard to a regular here due to the diet impact but it sure does taste good. So maybe once or twice a year is ok =) ok three times.
2 tables, one server - that should tell you how this visit went once I sat and another group came in. Told the hostess, which is the server, that I know what to order for our party of 3. She hadn't taken the other tables' order yet. Oh, my. Then piece meal delivery, water, then coffee mugs, then coffee. Are today's servers afraid of a tray? I'm a former server, I understand. My guests arrived, but there was still no order taken. She finally took our order. It's been 30 min. The first table is just getting food. We only have waters. After an hour, we have food, trying to get carry boxes, and this poor woman has no help. Food was just OK. My guests enjoyed theirs, and I left most of mine. The Hoosier. A breaded tenderloin on a biscuit. The Douglas and a skillet were the others, and they ate everything. Biscuits were hard, but doughy as if not done. I don't feel the need to return.
I couldn't go to Big Bear Biscuits without trying a biscuit. So I had to order something that came with a biscuit. The waitress told us that the biscuits are huge, and take 45 minutes to cook, which makes sense once you see them. I ordered a honey bear latte and the rise and shine breakfast sandwich. The presentation of the latte was a bit messy and not what I expected. The sandwich was good, I really liked the black pepper aioli sauce and the bacon was cooked perfectly! The service was not good, we were never served water. I was able to get some at the end of our meal. The check took a really long time to get. We were sitting outside, and I felt like we were forgotten about.
I have been hearing a lot of great things about Big Bear Biscuit so I decided to try it for myself. The restaurant was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Inside their was ample space for several tables without being too close to other Diners. The menu offered several enticing drink options and food options. My friend and I both ordered the Bjorn Latte and it was delicious! I ordered the Petting Zoo, which consisted of 2 open faced biscuits topped with roasted tomatoes, sweet jalapeño jam, crumbled goat cheese, poached egg, hollandaise sauce topped with Avocado. I was intrigued when I read the description and it was a delightful combination! The Grits were pretty good as well. My friend ordered the 3 Bears and this consisted of 3 biscuits with a different type of gravy on each one: mushroom, chicken, and sausage gravy. Yum, yum, and yum!! What a unique concept! The portions were huge and we Both brought home leftovers! Our service was wonderful as well. Our waitress brought our items in a timely manner and gave us the right amount of attention. We didn't have to ask for our check because she brought it along with to go containers before we even asked! I will be bringing more friends to this delightful experience.
This location is much more open than the Brownsburg one. They also have a patio that should have been open. It was a 20 min wait so we opted for eating at the bar. The food took a really really long time. Considering the biscuits are precooked and gravy pre made as well as probably most of the breakfast meats, it just took way too long. They could turn tables much faster. The food. The bacon was fantastic. The scrambled eggs were, well scrambled eggs. The biscuit was much much better than Brownsburg ( theirs was hard and dry ) this was good. The sausage gravy ( I ate it because I was hungry ) but it wasn't great. Totally tasted like from a can or frozen. Husband's omelette was great size and filled with meat especially sausage. The fruit cup was good. He was happy it had a lot of pineapple. I don't think we would be in a hurry to come back, but I'd chose this location over the other.
Food and ambiance not superlative. Service is definitely not very good and or quick. The waitress messed up One if the orders but it was dealt with quickly. The biscuits are fall apart and pretty flaky. The sausage gravy was good but not great. It took quite awhile just to get waited in after being seated promptly. Most of our party had sandwiches that fell apart and are Really fork food but also good. Also not sure what the honey pot add in is on the receipt.
We took my wife here for breakfast. With "biscuits" in the name, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, my biscuits and sausage gravy was not good. It should be called biscuits and sausage FLAVORED gravy. The biscuits were also very bland. I make much better biscuits and sausage gravy myself. On the other hand, my wife enjoyed her omelet, my younger daughter liked her breakfast sandwich, and my older daughter enjoyed her "Petting Zoo" biscuit. Service was average. This is an okay breakfast restaurant, but go elsewhere if you want good biscuits and gravy.
The biscuits never disappoint. Every time I go in their biscuits and sandwiches are to die for. The black pepper aoli gives the sandwich the perfect texture. I will say that the service wasn't great. It wasn't the last time I went in either. Even though it wasn't that busy it was just slow. We were hoping to be in and out but it took much longer than expected. I will definitely return for the food, but I will always just be aware that it takes a while to dine in.
We just went on a trip to the south and Big Bear's biscuits outdid any that we tried on the trip. I truly thought I just wasn't a biscuit girl until I tried these ones. They were huge, fluffy, airy, and flavorful. Warning if you go on the weekend: it will be packed and hectic in there... super loud (happy for them!). We went on a Saturday and after hearing that there was a long wait, ordered our food to-go and ate in the car. I got The Rise egg sandwich biscuit sandwich with a side of fruit. I tried my sister's fries (more like potato wedges and they were soooooo good - definitely try some. It was all delicious and I hope to be back soon.
First time visiting Big Bear, and it was close to noon. It was the best brunch time if you asked me. Upon arrival, my guest and I were seated immediately. The service of the staff was very attentive to our needs, but I must say for it to not be as busy our waiter did disappear often and we found ourselves having to wave her down toward the end of our meal to get the check, and for small things like additional napkins, and more water. It's a decent size restaurant space with a lot of outdoor seating, but we opted to sit inside. They have plenty of seating with the option of a booth or tables, or even a combo. As far as the food we ordered, it was pretty good. We just didn't agree with the condiments. Not a fan of the bacon jam. The apple butter to go on those delicious fuffy Biscuits was runny. I've never seen apple butter of that texture. My guest wasn't a fan of the strawberry jam given. I think it was homemade, but not desirable to her taste. That sausage gravy was really good, and it was a perfect pairing with the omelette- eggs, bacon, andouille sausage, sautéed onions/peppers. I would definitely try that again. I wish the fruit was more fresh, but they gave a good portion size. Another gripe I have was about the campfire latte, it was so good, but the jumbo toasted marshmallow takes up the majority of the mug and takes away from the mocha of the latte. My suggestion would be to make the mug a little bigger to give the customer more coffee to enjoy.
I'm obsessed!! This was one of the most flavor packed meals I've had in a long time! Seriously! When my friend and I arrived they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. We both thought it was more around 30 minutes. We were greeted promptly by our server and she helped us decide on biscuits. We decided on the Korean flavored, Buffalo chicken and a breakfast version with gravy and bacon. Both of us loved the Korean style biscuit the most. It was so delicious! The other two were wonderful as well. I honestly can't imagine making a wrong order here. Everything seems to have a great flavor profile. The owner also walked around at one point to check on everyone and that was really nice to see. Run (don't walk) to Big Bear Biscuits! Deliciousness is waiting for you!
As usual, I had been seeing this place all over Instagram and had been curious about them, I was able To get over to this location and check them out. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and well as a bar so I decided to sit at the bar. The menu has a great selection of food, coffee and cocktails, I decided to get a Bloody Mary which was flavorful and tasty! I also had some delicious eggs Benedict, on top of tasty biscuits with an apple Brussel sprout salad, the portions are also very generous! I do hope that the service improves a bit, but with any new place, I hope everyone gives them grace. I'll be back here for more delicious food and drinks!

My husband and I are not comfortable eating indoors yet but we really wanted to try Big Bear so we went on a Monday morning at 9am and sat outdoors. First of all, everyone we encountered was very friendly, from when we entered, while we were eating and on the way out. Our server checked on us periodically and we had a couple employees ask us if we liked the food. Chef Dean was there and it was nice to say hello. We loved his food when he was at Meridian and we loved the food at Big Bear, too. My dark roast coffee was perfectly dark and smooth just the way I like it! Biscuits were huge - the pictures do not do justice to how immense they really are! Also, as someone else noted - that chicken etouffée! What a surprise! It was so delicious. I'd eat a bowl of that on its own. read more

Big Bear was absolutely hopping at Sunday brunch-time. The place was packed, with quite a few people waiting for a table. We joined them and waited around twenty minutes to be seated. The menu is great! The space is great! The food and coffees, all great! Service was kind, but incredibly slow. It took thirty minutes for my coffee to arrive and well over an hour for our meals to show up. And nobody ever came to the table to apologize for a delay or refill our drinks. The place seemed well staffed, nobody was running around like they were in the weeds, but food came out at a snail's pace. All that said, the food was so good, that we'll be back. I just hope they get a handle on the wait times the longer they're open. It's a great addition to the Indy brunch scene! read more

There's been a lot of chatter about this new breakfast spot and I love breakfast, so it was time to check it out! My husband found this sweet little restaurant tucked off of 96th street, next to other stores. The parking is right in front and has a beautiful patio with screened garage door to continue air flow but alleviate any bugs inside! I love that! We arrived and the spot wasn't too busy, right before the lunch crowd. We waited patiently to order and it probably took about 20 minutes to do so. The owner saw us waiting and brought out water, and checked on us. We ordered our drinks and meals and waited again. My husband received his coffee 10 min later but mine didn't come out. Another 10 minutes, and out came our food! A different server asked if we needed anything, and I asked to check on my latte and cocktail. We were starving so, we dug right in and as promised, these are the BEST biscuits we've tasted in a LONG time. Fluffy little clouds of carbs covered in hollandaise, poached eggs and tomatoes! My husband and I both agreed we will return because the food is *chefs kiss*, but sadly, service could be improved, which is why only the 4 stars. The food is worth the wait, just make sure you have enough time to enjoy! They also contribute to something called the Honey Pot which helps donate towards different charities that the staff picks. Different ways to donate is to order a specific item or round up on your bill... it really is a great spot... all in all, working on timing would automatically give 5 stars! read more

Big Bear was pretty delicious. A lot of the outdoor seating is in direct sun and I kept seeing people ask for a different seat which I think made an already long wait even longer. Once inside everything was pretty good. There were a few noticeable kinks that I imagine will be worked out as time passes. read more

It's a shame that it has become an anomaly to get your order right. Was hoping for it to be different here. I ordered biscuits w/ sausage gravy, however, what I received can only be explained as a hostile fungi takeover with no sausage in sight. This shouldn't be difficult to differentiate mushrooms from sausage. Simply marking the container with a "S" for sausage or "M" for mushroom would help prevent a potential hospital visit due to an allergy. P.S. I thought I should include the fact that my 5 year old daughter was able to tell the difference within 2 seconds and identified this was not sausage gravy. read more
Indy needed a good biscuit place and Big Bear delivered! I loved the vibe of the restaurant when I came for brunch with my friends a few weeks ago. The staff was so kind and helpful, plus the food was great. I loved my s'mores latte, and the biscuits were HUGE. The homemade jam was to die for. Fantastic. The Petting Zoo is a contender for my fave brunch, ever. The flavors are truly superb - to me, it's the absolute perfect mixture of salty and sweet. My favorite combo. The jalapeño jam is much more sweet than I would've imagined - almost tastes like honey! It's lovely. The roasted tomatoes add the perfect amount of acid. The biscuit itself can stand alone - done perfectly. I could go on and on, but again, suffice it to say that this is a meal I could eat endlessly, and I'd still be happy as a clam. I'd probably skip the mimosa flight next time - didn't really seem like a great deal. I've also tried the tequila sunrise, which was very tasty. Note to self: arrive early, or plan on waiting. This place has the BEST biscuits ever. My food didn't stand a chance for a picture. I got the biscuit with a fried green tomato and avocado. I always order my potatoes well done with a side of ranch. Dine in | Brunch | $10-20 Breakfast is a staple and with so many available options on a lazy (don't feel like cooking) Sunday morning, Big Bear Biscuits has been brought to our attention, and gladly so! Coming from a "Cracker Barrel has the best biscuits - with blackberry jam (of course)" mentality, we were in for an incredible experience. Of course it was crowded (noon-ish), fortunately they have a six seat counter to go with their 15-20 regular tables in a routine arrangement. We skipped the line and chose the counter, were greeted immediately, by Jada, who, magically had our water and menus within a minute. Plenty of choices, well described, even a drink menu (alcohol available as well). Opted for the Douglas (crispy fried chicken topped with a perfect fried egg-runny yolk, sawmill sausage gravy, bacon jam and home fries (browned and seasoned superbly)) and the Petting Zoo (tomatoes avocado, goat cheese, jalapeno jam, poached eggs on an open faced biscuit) which paired nicely with a Bellini. And yes, you will be taking a box home, maybe even an extra biscuit for the road. The portions are substantial and filling. Atmosphere was a normal crowded Indy hotspot, the audience's self importance is the cause for concern not the establishment. The location was a portion of the old Scottys brewhouse, redecorated with bears and breakfast designs. Not distracting from the menu/food experience at all, which is where you'll be looking the whole meal... it's that yum! So it's a big bisquit "sandwich", but overall we were not impressed. The pimento cheese grits side were good, but this bisquit with chicken and egg, called the Douglas, lacked flavor- bland. We added hot sauce and that helped a little. The menu said it had "bacon jam and smothered in gravy." Not sure where the gravy was as you can't see it let alone taste it. Interior decor is a weird mix of many things and not very attractive. Loud club type music with weird videos on the screen was thumping the entire time - not a relaxing breakfast in the least. Our server was nice and funny but that didn't make up for the overall less than hoped for experience. Bill with two sandwiches, coffees and tip was $47. We will not be back unfortunately. read more
We needed some hearty food after my husband ran the Monumental half this weekend, and this was the perfect choice. We have found a few great biscuit places in other cities, but we hadn't found a place we loved here yet. This filled our need big time! I started with a lavender chai latte, which warmed me to my soul! Then, I had the Petting Zoo biscuit with a side of pimento cheese grits. I'll be back for the grits alone! They were amazing! I loved the sweet and spicy combo of the jalapeño jam on my biscuit mixed with the goat cheese. We are excited to add this place into our brunch rotation! read more

Really great biscuits! The food here is delicious. I got the Biscuit Benedict with a side of home fries. The Biscuit Benedict is just eggs Benedict with a biscuit instead of an English muffin. And a biscuit is a much better choice. Plus the biscuit Benedict has bacon jam which was delicious. My wife got the sweet & savory lunch biscuit and it was great too. We also tried a flight of mimosas. They were all good, but the strawberry lemonade one in particularly was surprisingly good. Great place to go for brunch. read more
My family visited Big Bear Biscuits for the first time recently. Disclaimer that it was very early into their opening, so I gave them some lee-way, but we did have some issues to start. Took a long time for coffees, pretty long wait/unorganized, etc. Once the food came, I definitely started forgetting about those problems. The potatoes / fries were great. I ordered the shine with sausage. It was mostly egg, but it was a very large, fresh sandwich. I thought the sandwich itself was really tasty and filling. Overall, it was a good experience and I'm sure we will be back after giving them some time to settle in. read more

I wanted to like this place SO much. The reviews were outstanding and the menu was hilarious and had so many cool combinations. The lattes are delicious and they have nondairy milks to choose from. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great. We've had better is all I can really say about it. The service was awful. Our waitress never checked on us once the whole time. She took our orders, brought our food and check and that was it. My husband had to get up and ask for another coffee refill and another waitress brought it. And they were not busy. Just standing at the counter talking. If you are just getting coffee, go, otherwise it would be a pass for me. One more thing - they are plastic bear bottles on the table. You usually see honey in these. I drenched half of my biscuit in it thinking it was honey. Nope - maple syrup?!!!!! They don't even have pancakes. Here's a tip - don't put syrup in honey bottles at a Bear restaurant and not label it. I couldn't eat my biscuit. Disappointing. I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this. read more

Met my Dad here for breakfast. Service was great and the food was even better ! Good size restaurant and tables gave good spacing ... not too close together. Really enjoyed my plate of food. Home fries were perfect, big biscuit with egg cheese chicken and delicious bacon. Kelly our waitress was super Coffee was really good as well! read more
Tried this place on opening week! Biscuits were great- they were huge! The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was great. Also tried one of the specialty iced lattes; it was good but not enough ice! My only negative was how slow the service was. It took 30 minutes for our waitress to take our order, another 20 to get waters, they forgot our coffees, another 40 minutes for our food. It was not crowded at all either. It was the first week though so I'm sure things will improve, I'll be back in a few months! read more

I was really excited to try this place after seeing countless TikToks about it! We stopped in at lunch time during the work week and were seated quickly. The menu is rather large and one where everything looks tasty. I ordered the Nashville hot biscuit in the end, and it was just ok. I was looking for a kick of spice but somehow I only tasted sweet. It also was just lukewarm temperature. Maybe I went on an off day or should try a breakfast biscuit instead. But I would have been disappointed had I waited long for a table. read more

My husband and I went here on a Sunday, aware there was a good chance there'd be a long wait based on reviews. When we arrived there was a crowd around the host stand but we were quickly able to get on the list and told it'd be an hour wait. This was fine for us, because we had nearby errands to run. The hostess called us when the table was ready and we were quickly seated once we arrived. Both the hostess and our waitress were friendly. Overall, I'd recommend the restaurant, as I found the menu had a lot of great options. I really enjoyed my sandwich, but was disappointed that it did not have the hot honey on it that the menu said it would. Not only was the hot honey not on the sandwich, but the waitress didn't mention they no longer serve it when I ordered. I understand she may have forgotten, but I think they should add something to the menu to state this. Despite the missing honey, the chicken was well seasoned, with just the right amount of spice, and it had a great crunch. The biscuit was good, but too large. So that it wouldn't over power the other flavors, I only kept half of the biscuit on. My husband didn't enjoy his sandwich as much as me. The cheese wasn't completely melted and his chicken wasn't as flavorful. The side of potatoes also had no flavor. The other negative would be the cleanliness of the space. They need to do a better job cleaning tables, chairs and the floor between patrons. I had to wipe my seat off when we arrived at our table and there were crumbs and trash on the table and the floor near us. In the end though, my sandwich was good and I'd try other items on the menu. read more

Took my nephew for brunch to try it out because of the good reviews and the pictures but I was disappointed and I wish I wasn't. The good was not as good as I thought it would be but it did look good. The biscuit was too tough and the gravy was too runny even though I asked for extra. I never got a refill on my water and didn't see my waitress that I started with again. Another lady brought our ticket and never saw her again either. It was a beautiful day outside, a little rain but still beautiful. I don't think I'll go again but I'll recommend anybody to try it at least once so they can have their own opinion. Still tipped. Hopefully you have a better experience. read more

Sheww! Standing room only, luckily we didn't have to wait and we jumped on two seats that came available at the bar. Nice place. Clean. Friendly. Bear themed of course. Looks like they might still be working in the decor. The waiter was kind but didn't check in on us as much as we would've like. Refill our water and such. But they were also very busy. I ordered the Douglas. This thing was huge! But very good. I'd probably order it without the bacon jam next time though. There was an odd sweet flavor that just wasn't my "jam". We ordered the Campfire Delight specialty coffee which seems like they could've been more creative with the name but cool. The coffee was delicious but small. Too small for the price I would recommend going at least once. Biscuits are super good! Peace read more

We really loved what we ordered here. We got The Douglas, The Petting Zoo, and a giant cinnamon roll. The Pimento Cheese Grits were just ok, but everything else was delicious. The atmosphere is very basic almost diner style seating. There is a small patio with seating for nice weather days. Service was great. We will definitely be coming back and will likely order the same thing because we enjoyed it so much. read more
After hearing so much positive buzz about this place, I finally visited for lunch on a weekday. I've heard how busy it gets on weekends, so I knew a weekday was a better bet. They were still busy, but no wait for a table for 2. Our server was helpful as the menu is so appealing, we needed help deciding. The juices on the mimosa flight were so fresh, I loved the beet/orange juice because it was so different. Now, the important stuff, biscuits. These are HUGE. Definitely not a place for a light meal. The biscuits are buttery, flaky, and impossible to stop eating. We loved both of our sammies. I went with the classic: bacon, egg, and cheese. It also has a pepper aoli which is absolutely the perfect condiment for this meal. My only wish was that the broccoli salad was dressed in a vinegrette versus the mayo based dressing it had. It was still really yummy, totally a personal preference. read more

I'd give BBB a higher score but the service was a fail. I understand being understaffed but when a full glass of water was spilled on the floor right next to me (it's amazing I did not get wet) no one ever bothered to wipe it up. After 10 minutes from it being spilled, the owner simply planted a "wet floor sign" next to my seat. From the time we arrived to the time we finally received our food it took 48 minutes. My food was excellent. My husband said his food was good but he could have made it at home (not likely). My daughter wasn't that impressed so I didn't photograph her food. My biggest issue is the sad apologies given by the wait staff & the owner. Don't apologize if you feel it's not warranted. And don't apologize with an excuse basically indicating that the crap service was going to happen regardless. read more

This restaurant was walking distance from my hotel. They had a patio but would not allow my dog, so I took him back and returned. The service was rather slow as I sat for 15min just waiting to get the check. read more

I've ate the food here before and it's okay. I wanted to give it another try but i didn't get that chance. Staff is rude. We had a party of 8 and they put us in the back very small table. Restaurant wasn't very busy and there was multiple tables open. We asked to be sat somewhere else so we could eat comfortable and they said no that was the best that they could do. Before we sat down we did see that staff put two tables together for another group so why couldn't they do it for us? read more

Can they handle a large group easily? I didn't see a separate room for groups when I was there with a friend a couple of days ago.
