I had a meeting scheduled here but had an hour to fill beforehand - not enough time to go home but too long to waste, so I decided to head here early. It turned out to be a GREAT place to work. Inspiring, yet not distracting. Plus they have a cute holiday backdrop set up right now! Everything on the menu always looks good, but I'm committed to The Douglas, sub chicken etouffee and jalapeño jam. I never remember to take a picture before devouring it so you'll just have to trust me
Hope you have access to a treadmill and some blood thinners. Pretty hard to find anything healthy on this menu. They unapologetically serve up food thats calorie and fat content is enough to make Paula Dean blush. But sometimes that hits the spot, doesn't it? I got their eggs benedict which is served on one of their giant calorie-bomb biscuits. And it was yummy ! Lots of hollandaise sauce for dipping my side dish of loaded home fries which was in of itself a nightmare of carbs and cheese. But it was yummy too. I think it would be hard to a regular here due to the diet impact but it sure does taste good. So maybe once or twice a year is ok =) ok three times.
2 tables, one server - that should tell you how this visit went once I sat and another group came in. Told the hostess, which is the server, that I know what to order for our party of 3. She hadn't taken the other tables' order yet. Oh, my. Then piece meal delivery, water, then coffee mugs, then coffee. Are today's servers afraid of a tray? I'm a former server, I understand. My guests arrived, but there was still no order taken. She finally took our order. It's been 30 min. The first table is just getting food. We only have waters. After an hour, we have food, trying to get carry boxes, and this poor woman has no help. Food was just OK. My guests enjoyed theirs, and I left most of mine. The Hoosier. A breaded tenderloin on a biscuit. The Douglas and a skillet were the others, and they ate everything. Biscuits were hard, but doughy as if not done. I don't feel the need to return.

The waitress told us that the biscuits are huge, and take 45 minutes to cook, which makes sense once you see them. I ordered a honey bear latte and the rise and shine breakfast sandwich. The presentation of the latte was a bit messy and not what I expected. The sandwich was good, I really liked the black pepper aioli sauce and the bacon was cooked perfectly! The service was not good, we were never served water. I was able to get some at the end of our meal. The check took a really long time to get. We were sitting outside, and I felt like we were forgotten about.
I have been hearing a lot of great things about Big Bear Biscuit so I decided to try it for myself. The restaurant was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Inside their was ample space for several tables without being too close to other Diners. The menu offered several enticing drink options and food options. My friend and I both ordered the Bjorn Latte and it was delicious! I ordered the Petting Zoo, which consisted of 2 open faced biscuits topped with roasted tomatoes, sweet jalapeño jam, crumbled goat cheese, poached egg, hollandaise sauce topped with Avocado. I was intrigued when I read the description and it was a delightful combination! The Grits were pretty good as well. My friend ordered the 3 Bears and this consisted of 3 biscuits with a different type of gravy on each one: mushroom, chicken, and sausage gravy. Yum, yum, and yum!! What a unique concept! The portions were huge and we Both brought home leftovers! Our service was wonderful as well. Our waitress brought our items in a timely manner and gave us the right amount of attention. We didn't have to ask for our check because she brought it along with to go containers before we even asked! I will be bringing more friends to this delightful experience.
This location is much more open than the Brownsburg one. They also have a patio that should have been open. It was a 20 min wait so we opted for eating at the bar. The food took a really really long time. Considering the biscuits are precooked and gravy pre made as well as probably most of the breakfast meats, it just took way too long. They could turn tables much faster. The food. The bacon was fantastic. The scrambled eggs were, well scrambled eggs. The biscuit was much much better than Brownsburg ( theirs was hard and dry ) this was good. The sausage gravy ( I ate it because I was hungry ) but it wasn't great. Totally tasted like from a can or frozen. Husband's omelette was great size and filled with meat especially sausage. The fruit cup was good. He was happy it had a lot of pineapple. I don't think we would be in a hurry to come back, but I'd chose this location over the other.
Food and ambiance not superlative. Service is definitely not very good and or quick. The waitress messed up One if the orders but it was dealt with quickly. The biscuits are fall apart and pretty flaky. The sausage gravy was good but not great. It took quite awhile just to get waited in after being seated promptly. Most of our party had sandwiches that fell apart and are Really fork food but also good. Also not sure what the honey pot add in is on the receipt.
We took my wife here for breakfast. With "biscuits" in the name, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, my biscuits and sausage gravy was not good. It should be called biscuits and sausage FLAVORED gravy. The biscuits were also very bland. I make much better biscuits and sausage gravy myself. On the other hand, my wife enjoyed her omelet, my younger daughter liked her breakfast sandwich, and my older daughter enjoyed her "Petting Zoo" biscuit. Service was average. This is an okay breakfast restaurant, but go elsewhere if you want good biscuits and gravy.
The biscuits never disappoint. Every time I go in their biscuits and sandwiches are to die for. The black pepper aoli gives the sandwich the perfect texture. I will say that the service wasn't great. It wasn't the last time I went in either. Even though it wasn't that busy it was just slow. We were hoping to be in and out but it took much longer than expected. I will definitely return for the food, but I will always just be aware that it takes a while to dine in.
We just went on a trip to the south and Big Bear's biscuits outdid any that we tried on the trip. I truly thought I just wasn't a biscuit girl until I tried these ones. They were huge, fluffy, airy, and flavorful. Warning if you go on the weekend: it will be packed and hectic in there... super loud (happy for them!). We went on a Saturday and after hearing that there was a long wait, ordered our food to-go and ate in the car. I got The Rise egg sandwich biscuit sandwich with a side of fruit. I tried my sister's fries (more like potato wedges and they were soooooo good - definitely try some. It was all delicious and I hope to be back soon.
First time visiting Big Bear, and it was close to noon. It was the best brunch time if you asked me. Upon arrival, my guest and I were seated immediately. The service of the staff was very attentive to our needs, but I must say for it to not be as busy our waiter did disappear often and we found ourselves having to wave her down toward the end of our meal to get the check, and for small things like additional napkins, and more water. It's a decent size restaurant space with a lot of outdoor seating, but we opted to sit inside. They have plenty of seating with the option of a booth or tables, or even a combo. As far as the food we ordered, it was pretty good. We just didn't agree with the condiments. Not a fan of the bacon jam. The apple butter to go on those delicious fuffy Biscuits was runny. I've never seen apple butter of that texture. My guest wasn't a fan of the strawberry jam given. I think it was homemade, but not desirable to her taste. That sausage gravy was really good, and it was a perfect pairing with the omelette- eggs, bacon, andouille sausage, sautéed onions/peppers. I would definitely try that again. I wish the fruit was more fresh, but they gave a good portion size. Another gripe I have was about the campfire latte, it was so good, but the jumbo toasted marshmallow takes up the majority of the mug and takes away from the mocha of the latte. My suggestion would be to make the mug a little bigger to give the customer more coffee to enjoy.

We both thought it was more around 30 minutes. We were greeted promptly by our server and she helped us decide on biscuits. We decided on the Korean flavored, Buffalo chicken and a breakfast version with gravy and bacon. Both of us loved the Korean style biscuit the most. It was so delicious! The other two were wonderful as well. I honestly can't imagine making a wrong order here. Everything seems to have a great flavor profile. The owner also walked around at one point to check on everyone and that was really nice to see. Run (don't walk) to Big Bear Biscuits! Deliciousness is waiting for you!
Went here for lunch with my pastor and was not disappointed!! We were greeted almost as soon as we walked in by a friendly hostess. After being seated our friendly waitress came over and greeted us and quickly brought us our beverages. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and he ordered a breakfast platter. Both were INCREDIBLE! The biscuits were big and fluffy and had awesome flavor. The sauces were flavorful and fresh. Service was great and the general manager even stopped by and said hello! Would highly recommend this place. We will be back!
I was in the area and decided to check this place out. It has been on my list for awhile and I love breakfast food. I initially thought it would just be grab and go biscuits, but this place was big! Lots of seating with a mix of tables, booths, and a small bar top. Also outdoor seating in the warmer months, which would be nice. I placed a to go order of The Hibernator with Home Fries and a black coffee. The service was friendly and since it was pretty empty on a weekday early morning the food came out pretty quickly. WOW, these were so good and I thought the perfect portion if not even a little more than I needed. I would definitely be back to try a different one. Also great to know that it is also a good to go option, it was packaged really well. read more
I love this place because I love biscuits!! It was an amazing biscuit. I had the Petting Zoo with grits and it was so tasty! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the Hollandaise sauce tasted fresh and the biscuit was huge! The combo had a nice sweetness to it. It was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. The location is good but parking by the restaurant is a bit tight. The server was friendly, answered my questions and gave me a great recommendation. I will go back! read more

Free parking readily available around the restaurant. 3 of us came to try this place on a Sunday; every Sunday we try a different brunch location. I called ahead to ask the wait time and the lady on the phone said it was about a 20minute wait currently. We arrived shortly after and put our name in for a table and waited about 20 minutes. We ordered the tangerine juice to try and it was refreshing. For our entrees: big bear biscuit skillet, Cajun skillet, and hibernator with gravy on the side. Everything was perfect flavor, temperature and portion size. The staff was friendly. Restroom was unisex and clean. read more
As usual, I had been seeing this place all over Instagram and had been curious about them, I was able To get over to this location and check them out. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and well as a bar so I decided to sit at the bar. The menu has a great selection of food, coffee and cocktails, I decided to get a Bloody Mary which was flavorful and tasty! I also had some delicious eggs Benedict, on top of tasty biscuits with an apple Brussel sprout salad, the portions are also very generous! I do hope that the service improves a bit, but with any new place, I hope everyone gives them grace. I'll be back here for more delicious food and drinks! read more

After much anticipation we finally tried Big Bear Biscuits. My husband works nearby and has been following their progress both in person and on social media for months. We went opening weekend around 9am and we weren't too surprised to see it busy with a bit of a wait. We checked in and the hostess did seem a bit frazzled, but that's expected on opening weekend! It was maybe a 25-30 minute wait for a table inside. We were greeted by our waitress rather quickly and we both put in our drink order, and I opted for the Lavender Chai latte. I was actually really impressed with the drink and will next time see if I can get it iced. We went back again today and it's just soooo good. Do not sleep on big Bear Biscuits. I ordered the three bears, which were three giant fluffy biscuits with different gravies. Hands down best in the city. My husband has ordered the Douglas sandwich both times and he loves it. I highly recommend the chicken etouffee Gravy. read more

What's that, ya say? You open at 7am and offer a delicious lineup of biscuit sammies? Sign us up because we're up at the asscrack of dawn thanks to our 11 month old yet still want to eat delicious food. It turns out everyone and their babies got the memo about Little Bear Biscuits because there was nearly a high chair at every table during our Saturday morning visit (no exaggeration). We enjoyed hot coffee alongside three of the breakfast sandwiches. The star of the show was the rodeo biscuit sandwich filled with fried short rib, red pickled onions and gravy. I also suggest getting a side of the jalapeño jelly and fig jam. Both were delicious alongside the flaky biscuits. To top it all off, our server was fantastic and they have some great tables available outside in the shade. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

The Menu Amazing food designed for anyone with an appetite! The variety of options but first and foremost. Always, always order the Three Bears as a starter the biscuit size are near Softball size (see photo of pumpkin propped for scaling). The waitstaff is amazing and very friendly! read more
This place deserves all of the hype it receives. It has ample parking spaces available around the restaurant. it is located between a hair salon and another restaurant (used to be Scotty's Brewhouse). They serve breakfast and lunch. They have a nice patio, as well as bar seating and a dinning room with a couple of garage doors that can be opened to open up the space and let in fresh air. They have music playing in the dining area and offer some alcohol including mimosas and other cocktails. They have a decent sized menu with breakfast food and exotic sandwich biscuits. I was there at lunch time and went with a sandwich biscuit. I ordered the Hillbelly with a side of fries. Of course I had to get a mimosa to wash it down. It took about 10 minutes to get my food. The biscuit was fresh, hot and delicious. It melted in my mouth. One of the best biscuits that I have ever had. I loved the fries as well. They were perfectly cooked and the seasoning on them were amazing, The service was ok. My server did her job. There was a gentleman with a beard working there that was very welcoming and friendly, He was really working the customers in the dining area. He was very personable. I enjoyed my meal there. It is more of a 4.5, but since I could not give a half star, I felt that it was closer to a 4 to me. I do look forward to trying more of their delicious biscuits and recommend that you do so too. read more

I would come back for the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are big! I ordered a side of fruit I like that you actually get a good variety of fruit. The mimosa flight flavors that were advertised online weren't available. The flavors that were available were Strawberry Lemonade, Orange, Blood orange and tangerine- all very similar. Not worth it. I also ordered a Bloody Mary which was good BUT they didn't add pickles or celery to mine like I saw on others pictures so that was disappointing. I did ask for celery and they did hook me up with 1 celery stick after I had received the drink. read more

This place is hoppin for sure! We stopped in around noon on a Wednesday. I wasn't expecting it to be busy but every table was full. We had to wait about 5 minutes for them to clear off a table but got seated pretty quickly. Our server took our order right away and we got our coffees and food within 5 minutes. So quickly that I didn't even notice that we didn't have anything on the table. We flagged our server down to ask for silverware and sugar for the coffee. Our server was Emma and she was great. Even though they were super busy she was on it. Another server brought over the wrong order and she caught it right away and went to the kitchen to get the right one. It was super loud in there so I just assumed she misheard me. Biscuits and gravy are one of my favorite foods but this was not my favorite. I had the sawmill gravy and it had a really strong flavor that I couldn't identify, garlic maybe? But I am very particular with my gravy so it could just be me. I think if we went back I'd just stick with the biscuits and jams. I like the concept. The indoor windows gave it a cute cabin-y feel but it still felt under decorated or unfinished somehow even though there something on every wall. I did notice that everyone around us had cleaned their plates which you don't always see. And there was a variety of diners - families, younger groups and older groups. If it was this busy on an off time, I'd be prepared to wait when you stop in. And come hungry. read more

Yummy!!! I was excited to try this place and we decided to go at probably the busiest time, Saturday at noon. Parking was easy and the hostess told us it was probably going to be an hour wait. We popped over to the bar next door to wait and they called in about 20 minute to tell us our table was ready! We ordered a mimosa flight and a Bellini and they were both delicious! My husband go the Cajun skillet and me the chicken and dumplings. The skillet was so good!!! Filled with great flavor. My chicken and dumplings were good, but I probably wouldn't get them again. We made the mistake of not being any biscuits (lol), so we will definitely be back to try them!! Overall a solid brunch place. Happy to have it in Indy ! read more
Met a few colleagues here for a weekday breakfast at 8 am. The restaurant traffic was slow when we arrived, but picked up as we were leaving. Our server was incredible. Super friendly, extremely fast and never let drinks get empty. He made great suggestions for the couple of us who were first-timers. The food, including the biscuits, was amazing. Delicious! If you're looking for breakfast with a Southern flare, look no further! They have a decent sized patio and a large space. They have some creative latte offerings and delicious food! I had the shrimp and grits for breakfast and loved it. There were five of us and we all loved our food! I tried a bite of the biscuit with sausage gravy and it was delicious! I went back and forth about my rating, but for my first experience I think a 3 is fair, but I plan to go back and give it another shot! First off, the food is AMAZING!! The biscuits are perfection. Just a simple biscuit with jelly was just heavenly. I had the Douglas and it was very good as well. Big portions and reasonably priced. Unfortunately we waited 45 minutes to receive our mimosa flight and an hour and 20 minutes to receive our food. The waitress apologized and said she would take some of the items off our check because we waited so long, but in the end, nothing was removed. We had to ask 3 times to get some butter and everything just took awhile. I know it's new, so I definitely want to go back and give it another try. Maybe it was just an off day. The food alone was definitely worth going again! read more

First time trying this place after seeing an Instagram post. So glad we went. Saturday morning at 10 am had a 25 minute wait. Plenty of parking around with the strip mall set up. Lots of outdoor seating for summer and fall. Now for the food! We had the Douglas with cheese grits and the Big Bear skillet. Service was fast and the food great! The sausage gravy was really good. The potatoes we're seasoned well, a bit salty for my taste but crispy and flavorful. I can't wait to go back and try one of their coffee drinks and other entrees. When a new breakfast/brunch/lunch place sprouts up in Indy--there's always a line on Sunday morning. This was no exception. Wanting to join in on the fun, I wanted to join in on the fun. With 3 others, we descended on this new hot spot. My food was delicious. I deconstructed the THE SHINE and brought the biscuit and rest of the potatoes home for tomorrow's breakfast. The PETTING ZOO was delicious according a dining companion. The BISCUIT WAFFLE was not a hit with our youngest diner. Coffee was good. Thumbs up on the mimosa flight! Great menu that includes dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our server, Will was extremely welcoming and accommodating. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich that included a serving fresh fruit. My lunch partner ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was covered with the thickest bacon I've seen. We ordered a side of mini cinnamon covered biscuits-YUM! Portion sizes large and had my leftovers for dinner. Unfortunately, we ate everything before i thought to take photos of the food but did take picture outside the restaurant. The restaurants decor was very colorful and fun. Definitely will be back to try more of the restaurants menu items. If you like great food and supporting small businesses, plan a visit. read more
TL;DR Good food, albeit not hot. Slow. Ass. Service. Speed metal on the play list. With all of the 4 and 5 star reviews, I have been wanting to try Big Bear Biscuits and finally did. I read all of the comments about the slow service and can attest, it's slow AF! Only dine in without time constraints. Our dining experience was 1 hour 30 minutes, on a Sunday at 1:00. We saw our server only 4 times during our visit too. Glasses sat empty until our food was brought out. Now, if our food was hot, I wouldn't be bothered by the long wait. The food was tepid, including the gravy, which is easy to keep hot. I got the Rise and Shine. The biscuit was killer, the egg too thin over powered by the cheddar cheese, and the pepper aioli was sweet and not peppery at all. I got a side of a biscuit and sausage gravy and really enjoyed that, but it just wasn't hot. The playlist, WTH? I would love to know if they rotate playlists based on day of the week and we dined on the wrong day, or who selected speed metal on Sunday. After 90 minutes of listening to it left us all feeling anxious. If service was faster, one would think they were subliminally trying to get you to eat fast and get out. Honestly the best gravy I've had from a restaurant! I had stopped ordering biscuits and gravy for breakfast out because you just can't beat homemade. Well this is as close as I've gotten to a gravy I'd order again. My daughter devoured her portion and wanted tons more! Biscuits are huge! You definitely leave full and the prices are extremely reasonable so you don't have leave broke! My son is not a potato eater but he loved their home fries. You know if you find a place the kids like, you've gotta tell everyone about it! read more
It's new and amazing! Friendly staff, super clean. The food is amazing! The biggest biscuits I've ever seen. Hubby had a wedge salad, very fresh and crisp. I think the croutons were made from biscuits. Then came The Son of a Biscuit. A huge biscuit with a Nashville hot chicken breast, with hot honey and pimento cheese. I had the Douglas. Biscuit with bacon jam, chicken, fried egg, cheese and covered in sausage gravy. I loved the pimento cheese grits! Smooth and so tasty. Gigantic portions! read more
Biscuit lover rejoice, this place is soooo good, even non biscuit lovers will be happy here. The hosts greet you warmly and are very accommodating to your needs. Of course I walked in with a group of 14 and they were still friendly. Kudos to the staff. Our waitress was a bit on the curt side, but not enough for me to deduct a star, especially since everything else was great. Mimosa flights, I have to say you are probably better off just getting a regular mimosa, which is quite large. The flight itself consists of 4 glasses with various juices and a tiny bottle of bubbly. Not enough to even make a decent mimosa out of these juices. The juice to sparkly ratio is not rather stingy. So you get a lot of juice with just a tiny bit of booze. I just drank 2 juices which are wonderfully fresh and made mimosas out of the other 2 and it was good. The specialty coffees are delicious as is the regular coffee here. The smores came with a cute little Teddy Graham floating on the milk foam. How cute is that? But the biscuits... I don't even like biscuits, but these are beyond delicious... and you get several gravies/sauces to choose from. That Etoufee sauce, omg. I just got a side order of the sausage gravy to go with the biscuit that came with my platter and I was in biscuit heaven. These darn things are just addictive. My platter had potatoes and also bacon... both were absolutely perfect. Someone described the pork belly as pillows of deliciousness... they wouldn't share, so take that as a great recommendation. First time ordering from this restaurant. I wanted to try it because of the amazing reviews I read online. I was very disappointed. I ordered the Douglas and I don't know what I got but it's not what I expected. The gravy was running, the chicken was almost burnt, the biscuit was hard and the bacon jam and toast were not included in my order. I picked up my order and the place appears to have a nice atmosphere. Soft colors and nice music was playing. Since I picked up my order, my interaction with the wait staff was limited but someone did greet me as I walked in. This is the reason for the 2 stars instead of one. IMO, I probably won't try this place again. I prefer to eat somewhere with a pleasant atmosphere and good food, too. read more
