Meh. I was shown this place on TikTok, and it seemed to be amazing. It was just fine. The vegetables in my omelet were not really cooked and had a significant crunch. The hash brown casserole was not to my liking. I can't really think of anything that stood out to me. The service was fine as well, nothing much to say. The interior decoration felt like a Hobby Lobby threw up on the walls. It lacked character that makes a diner feel like a diner. I personally do not think I would come here again. The Roost has been saved in my collection of diners for a while now, so when I saw that they were participating in Devour Summerfest I threw their name in the hat for my husband to choose from. He loves a good diner, so I was excited to try them out and possibly have a new go-to spot for our Sunday morning outings. The fact that they are also in some way linked to Sahm's set my expectations rather high (even though I've never eaten at Sahm's, I've heard good things). The service felt a bit rushed. I don't believe that our server/waitress ever introduced herself and orders were taken from other tables that arrived after us before ours were. We ordered the Burrata & Melon "snack", which was on the "fancier" end of their offerings, and we both ordered The Sunrise breakfast. I ordered mine with scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon - crispy, wheat toast - buttered, and the hashbrown casserole. My eggs came out without cheese and pretty sure that they just piled another 2 eggs with cheese atop the original uncheesed eggs because I had a mountain o' eggs! I could tell that the toast was buttered on one of those little wheelie-doo-dads because it was like - barely there. The bacon was crisp, which made me happy and the hashbrown casserole had good flavor and a creamy texture. My husband ordered his eggs over medium, and they got those right. He asked for his bacon soft, but his came crispy as well. He was also disappointed in the degree of butteriness (or lack thereof) on the toast, and he didn't touch his hashbrowns. He asked for butter and was brought out a few packets of cold, hard butter that he tried warming underneath his coffee mug. It sort of worked, but not really. Both of us noticed that the servers don't really use trays and instead use the plate overlapping method along the length of one's arm. I get it...it's a diner, but we don't like that. The use of a tray is much more sanitary and efficient (in my opinion). Nobody wants your thumb in their eggs. read more

Decided to try out The Roost as my first Devour Indy restaurant. Everyone was nice and inviting as soon as you walked in the door. For $18 you can choose a drink, a snack, and an entree. I wouldn't say it's very quiet inside, definitely a good place to get together and catch up with some friends. My pineapple mimosa was delicious, I feel you can never go wrong with a mimosa! The breakfast egg-rolls were a 3/5. They tasted good, just wish it wasn't mostly egg. There was only a small amount of bacon and cheese around the edge. I wanted to try something new so I went with the half liter omelette and it did not disappoint. Never thought to put brisket and bbq sauce on an omelette, but it actually tasted great. Love The Roost for a great home style meals with options for the entire family. Kids meals are a big size and decently priced! You've got to get their hash brown casserole, it's the best! They have the best biscuits and gravy I've tasted at a restaurant! I usually opt to make my own at home but I'd gladly take theirs as a replacement. I've only gotten breakfast when I've visited: pancakes, French toast and omelette and I've enjoyed them all. But the next time we visit, I'm getting their pork tenderloin sandwich that has been calling my name! read more

To review this place in one word .... meh. I came here with fiancé for the first time last week and there were quite a few larger parties waiting to be seated which I took as a good sign. The host and servers were doing their best but they were just so busy. The place was packed. We didn't even get silverware until after our food came and we flagged someone down to ask. Now the food itself was okay. I got an eggs Benedict and it was okay. It hit the spot and I really can't complain but it kills me every time these meals come with a fruit cup filled with unripe cantaloupe and suspicious berries. Maybe that's me being picky but just leave the fruit cup off. I also got the hash brown casserole which was flavorful and pretty good. All in all The Roost is an okay place to get brunch but I wouldn't believe anyone who says it's the best brunch in Fishers. One of my friends mentioned The Roost was a good breakfast place that was fairly close to Top Golf. We were headed there next. We went inside and were greeted and seated. The waitress - Amy- was very friendly and our coffees were brought to us fast and hot. The music they were playing was great and the inside was a warm and homey feel to it. Like a mom and pop restaurant that only locals know about. I loved it. No, fluorescent lighting at 7:30 in the morning. They have a big menu! The people who own The Roost are the owner of Sahm's! The makers of the great coffee cafe. So, I figured the food would be good! They have not only hash brown casserole, but cornbread casserole also! I ordered the hash brown casserole, turkey sausage links, eggs medium and a small order of biscuits and gravy. Oh my all the food was delicious and the other food that was ordered looked just as good! Breakfast burrito, fried tenderloin breakfast sandwich were two other items. A Fantastic Experience Thanks to John at The Roost! I recently dined at The Roost, and I just had to take a moment to shout out to John, our amazing server! From the moment we walked in, John greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly attitude that set the tone for the entire meal. He was attentive without being overbearing, always checking in just when we needed him, and making great recommendations from the menu. Not only was the service top-notch, but John's genuine enthusiasm for his job was contagious. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he even offered some unique suggestions based on our preferences. Every detail, from the timing of our courses to the way he made sure we had everything we needed, was executed perfectly. It's not every day that you come across such exceptional service, and John truly went above and beyond. He absolutely deserves a raise for the way he handles everything with such care and professionalism. Okay me and my wife have been here at least 30 times in the last 6 months and the service and food have been excellent each time. And the ambiance was perfect except for one time that there was a kid screaming and running around. Dishes to note are their pancakes (I get mine with bananas), breakfast burrito, and my wife's favorite the sunrise breakfast. We always find ourselves coming back and I think the food is well worth the price. If you want a nice brunch with a good atmosphere the Roost is a good place to be. Also they have excellent coffee drinks on top of everything. So if you are craving a sweet latte with your breakfast or brunch, this is the place for you. read more

It's been at least 15 years since I've eaten here. Decided to go for brunch and I was pretty disappointed in the food. I had biscuit with sausage gravy. Biscuit was fine, did not care for the gravy. Flavor was ok but it was too thick and floury. Had eggs and bacon and those were good, cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns were greasy. Best thing about this place is the coffee cake. I HATE leaving less than 4 stars, but we did not enjoy our food at all! Our hash browns had that distinct reheated potato taste, the sauce on my waffle just tasted like bacon grease, and the omelet tasted like dish soap to me. After debating with myself about whether or not I should, I spoke to the manager about the way I had struggled through every dish we ordered. The manager's response was very kind, they didn't get defensive at all and they accommodated us generously. I kind of defer to my husband when it comes to rating a Midwest breakfast/brunch restaurant. If he likes it and he thinks the food is good, then I'll go with that. He ordered biscuits and gravy, and he said that it was good. The B&Gs were hot (he's had a surprisingly large number of cold plates of biscuits and gravy at other places) and the gravy tasted like it was homemade. One kid got the grilled cheese (my kid loved it; apparently it is his favorite grilled cheese ever) and the other kid got the child's pancake and bacon. The pancake was as big as a dinner plate! It was a lot of pancake. But it was a good pancake: it was spongy and stretchy -- not cakey and dense -- like a good pancake should be. The syrup is presented in one of those little carafes, and it's warm. I got the Mexican omelette, and it was just fine. When you order an omelette, you have the choice of ordering a 2-egg omelette or a 4-egg omelette. I ordered a 2-egg one, and the proportions were off. There was just so much stuff in my omelette compared fo the amount of egg. The egg could not contain the big chunks of onions and peppers. But I didn't want to order 4 eggs, because what the heck, man: No one needs to be eating 4 eggs in one sitting. One good thing about the Mexican omelette, though, is that they use Smoking Goose chorizo. I like when restaurants use local ingredients when they can. The Roost was crowded when we were there (around 1ish on a weekend), and we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. But once we were seated, the service was very quick, and we didn't have to wait for anything for very long. read more

Food and service are excellent but it is not really a kid-friendly restaurant. They only have booths, no tables, and the high chairs are the really big wooden high chairs that only fit toddlers. They're also all dirty and sticky, and some of them have broken buckles so you can't even strap kids in. We really like this place but won't be going again until our kids are older. read more

This place has been around forever. We went for our first visit on a Sunday morning at 10:30 and that is not a great time to go. The small strip parking lot was full and cars were parking on the access road as well as in the bank lot across the street. The host did a great job of coming outside to find people on the waiting list since they don't take reservations or take phone numbers .We waited about 30 minutes for a table. Basic tasty, home cooking style entrees. Huge portions. The cornbread casserole was the only item I had not seen on other menus before. It was sweet, moist and delicious. Always well populated when I've been there, which is usually weekend brunch time. My go to, which I had again today, is the 2 egg Florentino omelet, with an extra side of hollandaise. (Comes in a 4 egg version if you're that hungry!) Hubs like the sunrise, which is a 2 egg, hasbrowns, sausage dish for him. The toast is also nice thick Texas slices. Just like home! First time stopping in here and I understand why there's always a crowd --food is fantastic. It's home style not the upscale fancy breakfast found at every breakfast joint in Carmel and Fishers. This place had homemade bread for their toast and everything is just made from scratch and simple. The pancakes are huge and the toast is awesome. Service was fast, waitresses were super nice and food was excellent. I got corn beef hash and it was fantastic. Corn beef cooked with has browns with two eggs over the top served with toast. Went to The Roost today at noon. Ordered a chicken sandwich. The slice of chicken was dry and thin, tasteless. The bun was moist and the corn casserole was hard as a rock and also tasteless. I asked for a slice of their famous coffee cake and was served a skinny broken mess on a plate. When I asked for a newly sliced piece all in one piece I was told I couldn't have another. My partner and I love a good breakfast place- unfortunately, the roost did not quite meet our standards. We came on a Saturday morning. Restaurant wasn't busy and staffed well. When we got seated we had to wait 10 mins for a server to come and take our drink order. Then, after our drinks, they didn't stop by for another 10 mins until we made that awkward, across the restaurant, eye contact letting them know we need something. My coffee tasted burnt and they didn't have any flavored creamers (how!). My partner ordered an iced tea that was 90% water and 10% tea. It was just a mess. As for the food: very average and very "eh." Our bacon was alittle over cooked, my over easy egg was almost completely cooked through... the only decent item was our French toast, but even that was very average. Sahm's has the market cornered when it comes to family friendly restaurants! I'm well aware of the several Sahm's locations, the Big Lug brewery, and recent acquisition of Bent Rail in South Broad Ripple, but this was my first time at Roost, despite working in the area for over 10 years. During an early errand run with my daughter, I checked the area for a breakfast spot. I was reminded of this spot I've passed dozens of times, on the SE corner of Allisonville and 116th. We were seated quickly and greeted by a festive woman donned in sparkles and a Santa hat. As with other locations, they had specials, in addition to a full breakfast & lunch menu. I ordered a scramble and bacon that came with hash browns and an order of biscuits and gravy and toast. Z got an omelet with a side of fruit and a waffle. The portions were large and the hash browns were just the way I liked them. The gravy was a bit on the runny side, but not terrible. There's a breakfast 'bar' that several people were seated around and the restaurant filled up quickly while we were there. While they don't serve cocktails, its a perfect spot for a family meal.
