    Devour Summerfest 2025 Menu
    Kandice T.

The Roost has been saved in my collection of diners for a while now, so when I saw that they were participating in Devour Summerfest I threw their name in the hat for my husband to choose from. He loves a good diner, so I was excited to try them out and possibly have a new go-to spot for our Sunday morning outings. The fact that they are also in some way linked to Sahm's set my expectations rather high (even though I've never eaten at Sahm's, I've heard good things). The service felt a bit rushed. I don't believe that our server/waitress ever introduced herself and orders were taken from other tables that arrived after us before ours were. We ordered the Burrata & Melon "snack", which was on the "fancier" end of their offerings, and we both ordered The Sunrise breakfast. I ordered mine with scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon - crispy, wheat toast - buttered, and the hashbrown casserole. My eggs came out without cheese and pretty sure that they just piled another 2 eggs with cheese atop the original uncheesed eggs because I had a mountain o' eggs! I could tell that the toast was buttered on one of those little wheelie-doo-dads because it was like - barely there. The bacon was crisp, which made me happy and the hashbrown casserole had good flavor and a creamy texture. My husband ordered his eggs over medium, and they got those right. He asked for his bacon soft, but his came crispy as well. He was also disappointed in the degree of butteriness (or lack thereof) on the toast, and he didn't touch his hashbrowns. He asked for butter and was brought out a few packets of cold, hard butter that he tried warming underneath his coffee mug. It sort of worked, but not really. Both of us noticed that the servers don't really use trays and instead use the plate overlapping method along the length of one's arm. I get it...it's a diner, but we don't like that. The use of a tray is much more sanitary and efficient (in my opinion). Nobody wants your thumb in their eggs.

Decided to try out The Roost as my first Devour Indy restaurant. Everyone was nice and inviting as soon as you walked in the door. For $18 you can choose a drink, a snack, and an entree. I wouldn't say it's very quiet inside, definitely a good place to get together and catch up with some friends. My pineapple mimosa was delicious, I feel you can never go wrong with a mimosa! The breakfast egg-rolls were a 3/5. They tasted good, just wish it wasn't mostly egg. There was only a small amount of bacon and cheese around the edge. I wanted to try something new so I went with the half liter omelette and it did not disappoint. Never thought to put brisket and bbq sauce on an omelette, but it actually tasted great. Loved the hash brown casserole as well!

I ordered to-go from The Roost which was my first ever eating here. Maybe I should've tried dining in first but I ordered the full order of biscuits and gravy and this is what it looked like. I just think it was overkill on the gravy and it was just not the best. I will try again when dining in.

Had a delicious breakfast for my first devour indy meal for Winterfest. I was highly impressed with the biscuits and gravy and the iced latte, but the chorizo quesadilla seemed to be just plain sausage. My boyfriend said the BPT Croissant was good. Will definitely be back for another meal!

Love The Roost for a great home style meals with options for the entire family. Kids meals are a big size and decently priced! You've got to get their hash brown casserole, it's the best! They have the best biscuits and gravy I've tasted at a restaurant! I usually opt to make my own at home but I'd gladly take theirs as a replacement. I've only gotten breakfast when I've visited: pancakes, French toast and omelette and I've enjoyed them all. But the next time we visit, I'm getting their pork tenderloin sandwich that has been calling my name!

This was a very good brunch spot. There was a decent crowd but it wasn't too busy. We had a 15 minute wait which was very reasonable. The food was absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the biscuit and gravy. Very helpful and courteous service. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for delicious brunch in a great environment.

One of my friends mentioned The Roost was a good breakfast place that was fairly close to Top Golf. We were headed there next. We went inside and were greeted and seated. The waitress - Amy- was very friendly and our coffees were brought to us fast and hot. The music they were playing was great and the inside was a warm and homey feel to it. Like a mom and pop restaurant that only locals know about. I loved it. No, fluorescent lighting at 7:30 in the morning. They have a big menu! The people who own The Roost are the owner of Sahm's! The makers of the great coffee cafe. So, I figured the food would be good! They have not only hash brown casserole, but cornbread casserole also! I ordered the hash brown casserole, turkey sausage links, eggs medium and a small order of biscuits and gravy. Oh my all the food was delicious and the other food that was ordered looked just as good! Breakfast burrito, fried tenderloin breakfast sandwich were two other items. More trips will be made to The Roost! Sundays they open at 7:30 am fyi and not 7:00.

It's been at least 15 years since I've eaten here. Decided to go for brunch and I was pretty disappointed in the food. I had biscuit with sausage gravy. Biscuit was fine, did not care for the gravy. Flavor was ok but it was too thick and floury. Had eggs and bacon and those were good, cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns were greasy. Best thing about this place is the coffee cake. I do have to say our service was good.

The coffee is strong, fresh, and exactly what you need to start the day. The breakfast burrito is massive (seriously, it could feed an army), the pancakes are fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth good, and the hash browns are perfectly done. Everything came out quickly, thanks to Froy and Eduardo in the kitchen. I made sure to tell them how great the food was, and their big smiles said it all you can tell they genuinely care about both quality and service. There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. If you're feeling a little lazy but still want a great breakfast, Mornings is the place. So...we ordered carryout (onlyb1 person had to get dressed...lol). Everything was packaged well in aluminum foil bowl with the plastic covers. There were 4 orders, but only 2 sets of plastic ware (just a note, not a reason for 4 stars not 5) The food was delicious. I shared my crispy potatoes with my cousin because they forgot hers (first reason for 4 stars not 5) with the order. My veggie omelette was light and fluffy. I added cheese, which was melted on top instead of being incorporated with the veggies (another reason for 4 stars not 5). The pancakes were good, too...light and fluffy. My cousins enjoyed their meals as well - one of the bowls (Portuguese, I think), steak and eggs, chilequilles. The only complaint was that it wasn't clear while ordering that the meat shown in the photo of the chilequilles was not included, so my cousin was disappointed when it was missing (3rd reason for 4 stars not 5). I definitely recommend this restaurant, just make sure to check your carryout order before leaving to make sure everything you expected was i there.

The gumbo was chocked full of seafood and the salad had the most delightful jalapeño vinaigrette. It usually comes with honey mustard but they were out. Happy mistake. That dressing was soooooo good! Honestly, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a salad dressing more. The only thing better than the food was the service. Sydney... "like Australia," as she introduced herself was attentive, personable, and made the experience memorable. I returned a few days later for Sunday brunch and ordered what I thought would be a larger salad. Unfortunately, it missed the mark - completely. There simply weren't enough greens to justify calling it a salad. On this visit, the service was noticeably slower. Our orders arrived at different times, some items were incorrect, and we were initially charged for things we didn't order. Thankfully, everything was addressed once we reviewed the bill. So, yeah.... We'll be back... ideally when Sydney is behind the bar! Give that girl a raise!

I love the small town feel!! The restaurant vibe reflects the town. Everyone is very welcoming. I didn't catch bartenders name, but she was very friendly to everyone at her bar. She told us her favorites on the menu. I appreciated her knowledge about the restaurant and the menu. The bar area seemed a little dark, but that actually enhanced the experience of an old bar. We only sat in the bar area, I believe there is additional seating in another room, but I didn't look. I opted for a grilled tenderloin and a cup of beer cheddar jalapeño cheese soup. The sandwich's are Ala carte. The sandwich was bigger than I expected, that would have been enough for lunch. The trick with grilled tenderloin is that many times it is over cooked, so it is dry. This was cooked to perfection; cooked but still moist. The sandwich, with the "garden" was awesome. Now to the soup. I think she said they use wee Mac as the beer. The jalapeño was puréed. There was crispy bacon crumbled on top; I did not care for the bacon. The soup was odd to me as I was eating it. Because of the texture, it reminded me of corn chowder. There was a little spice/flavor from the jalapeño. What was odd to me, was it didn't wow me like I thought it would, but I kept eating it. So in the end, I think I really liked it bc I ate all of it!!! The menu is not large, but has a good variety for its size. The desserts were impressive, I just didn't have room for it. I could easily become a regular there!!
