This is my favorite coffee shop in the world, I come multiple times a week and buy the vanilla powder to make my own Better Buzz at home. Their iced vanilla latte literally cannot be beat and I have tried so many coffee shops. Most workers are nice but one lady is always rude to me and every other customer. I was triggered to make this review as I listened to her actually yell at two customers across a 30 minute time when I was sitting trying to work on my laptop. She very much ruins the vibes of this normally peaceful establishment. (She wasn't wearing a name tag but id the 50 year old woman with grey highlighted hair). I stopped by here to do some studying on the way from North county down to La Jolla. There was only street parking that I saw but it wasn't too difficult to find on a weekday afternoon. I was at first disappointed to see that this place has a more limited menu compared to the Hillcrest location. I usually like to get the ricotta toast but since they didn't have that, I settled for the poached egg and toast. It was simple and good but nothing amazing. Just some good study food. I usually never have any complaints whenever I get anything from Better Buzz, but it must have been a really off day because the drinks were very watery. I had the mint infused coffee and it tasted like milk even after mixing it really well. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the quality of my drinks. Visiting from NorCal and decided to try and see what the hype was all about! And WOW the coffee & smoothie did not disappoint. Sunday afternoon the line was long but went by super quick, the staff is very on it when it comes to taking orders all while still making costumers feel welcomed! I asked manager and then again in a yelp review months ago (which was removed) if they could consider offering a plant-based protein for their smoothies. It makes NO SENSE that their ONLY option is whey. Whoever reads yelp messages read my follow-up recently and ignored it, no reply. Why exclude customers who are allergic to dairy, who want to make a healthier choice, or who care about the well-being of animals? Whey protein gives you acne because of the hormones in dairy, by the way. It would be so easy to simply offer a plant-based protein powder for everyone (if they don't want to have two options), as anyone would be able to consume it. And it is not more expensive. YUM!!! This place is a true gem in Encinitas. If you like sweeter coffee concoctions, this place is definitely for you. I usually get the honey latte but decided to try out the rosewater latte today. I can say it was probably one of the most unique flavors I've ever had in a coffee, and I was trying to slurp up every last drop. Its definitely one of my favorite cafes in San Diego, and they even have oat milk which is great for my lactose intolerant body. The one thing I will say is this place is pretty pricey. Be prepared to drop $5 or more on a latte or coffee drink. That, however, is becoming more and more normal though, so the costs aren't overly surprising. read more

After circling for a couple minutes, I found street parking on the nearby side street. Entering the cafe, it was packed with people lounging and in line. Despite being a modest sized place, all the tables were full. I guess the locals do appreciate having Better Buzz Coffee! I wasn't really sure what to get, but I knew that I had to try something from this place. In the end, I decided to get the 'Best Drink Ever' which is their signature Americano with sweetness, cream, and vanilla. I've had Americano before, and none tasted as good as this one; maybe it really is the best drink ever... The Americano was refreshing and the flavor was also perfect. It wasn't bland or too sweet. I can't drink coffee without cream, so this is what I expect from a good coffee! Better Buzz Coffee is another place that I will have to come back to when I'm in San Diego. The Best Drink Ever was great, although there were also other drinks I would like to try as well. So many drinks...not enough San Diego trips. One afternoon I wanted to get a cold coffee beverage and chose to go to Better Buzz in Encinitas. I had difficulty finding parking so I went around the block a couple of times, and decided to park in the back of the shop. I've frequented this shop over the years and typically enter from the back of the shop. I noticed the door said employee entrance only and hadn't been to the shop to get coffee during modified hours and online ordering. I have been having some severe back pain so was hoping to get a drink quickly. What a horrible experience I that day. I called ahead and spoke with one of the employees saying that they were open so when I walked in with my mask on, I was confronted by Brandon. He commented that I needed to come to the front of the building and place my order via my phone. I said that I was having trouble walking and I understood that I shouldn't have come through the back door. I told them that would have to come back another time since I wasn't able to walk around to the front of the shop as he directed me to. I said thank you to Brandon and the girl who was working in the shop that day. Brandon said, "have a great day girl"... I responded, "you too." Then Brandon changed his tune and in a really loud whisper, he made a really snarky remark saying "wow, you should really learn how to read and your back doesn't look like it really hurts, lady!" I had walked to the back door when I heard what he said was very hurtful, unkind, and rude. I confronted him and told him that was unkind. There were many other ways that he could have been helpful. Customer service and being kind should go hand in hand. I was in tears when I left. I went on the Better Buzz website to report my mistreatment and hadn't heard back from anyone regarding this. Several days later I called the main office and left a voice mail. Again, no one reached out to me. Super bummed because I want to love it, it's so convenient for me. The other day I went in with my two kids and there was no one in line. I waited, expecting to get my drink fairly soon -- no joke 15 minutes went by (and of course I saw they were making other drinks that they had on the line) and I asked the barista when mine would be up. She said she had 8 drinks before mine. I ended up waiting, with a newborn and a 3 year old over twenty minutes for an iced americano. She explained to me that they had huge phone orders called in just before me -- but, if you have any kind of awareness or customer service ability, you'd let the mom with two kids know that before she ordered. Went back yesterday. Ordered breakfast for the whole family & coffees. We spent over $60, and it was not good. The avocado toast was not edible (and I'm not super picky). The avocado was bitter and you could tell way too ripe to serve, it should have been thrown away (which I did). The smoothie bowl my son got had so little fruit on top, I wish I'd have taken a pic because typically it has about three times the fruit. I wish they expanded into Orange County or at least South OC, because this is (in my humble opinion) THE BEST COFFEE SHOP. Comparing it to other staple coffee shops, I think Better Buzz is very rich in flavor. In other places, it feels more watered down, especially due to a lot of ice, but I am always so satisfied and pleased with the different drinks + their distinguishable flavor. My favorite the Best Drink Ever, an Americano with their signature vanilla. Mouth watering just thinking about it again. Okay, I am a coffee person. I drink a lot of it and I rarely make it myself. So I've been around the coffee scene. I'm also very picky. This is not "coffee". It's sugary caffeine! That's being said, I'm not going to say it's wrong or bad, it's just not my thing. I've had two drinks now from their menu and both were sugar overload. I feel like I need to brush my teeth while drinking them. Yeesh! Best Drink Ever comes with a guarantee so you can return it if you don't think it's the best. But I'd already started driving and couldn't return it. Should have just stuck to a two pump vanilla americano which is my go-to. I typically drink black coffee but when I'm feeling like I deserve a treat and I'm at Better Buzz, I always order their Best Drink Ever (hot), which is an a Americano, vanilla powder and I think magical fairy dust. It's delicious and totally worth the calories. I definitely get a strong buzz from it. Also worth mentioning, their açai bowls. Get one. They're yummy and so filling! Better Buzz coffee has many branches within SD, but let's talk about this one specifically. It has many tables with outlets. Many people were sitting at tables with their laptops out doing work. Not too noisy, so a great opportunity to get some work done. I ordered the white mocha buzz blended drink. It was way too sweet for me, but no points docked from them since the drink tastes as intended.
